Lol. With this his toxic and negative attitude, even if he abandons programming for yahoo, he wont still succeed.

He's busy calling out people that are doing better than him. None of the persons he called out has ever blamed or cursed their father.

Do you even expect someone that can call out his father in a public forum like this to be sensible and successful in life?

He claim he is not doing programming for the money, yet he's creating a thread on how demotivating learning programming can be without money.

Tastyfried idiot or whatever they call you. Programming is not for you. Better sell that your laptop and use the money to search for a solution to your problem.

Family / Re: Let's Hear Your Worst Sleepover Experience by SavageBoy: 7:43pm On Dec 13, 2022
BluntTheApostle:
My own worst sleepover (proposed overnight reading) was actually my first and last.

200 Level, second semester, lecture free week, a friend's friend organized a sleepover. The guy was in 400 level just like my friend, but my friend was doing a carryover course, and as I was good in that course, I became his tutor and we became close friends.

However, what he didn't tell me was that the hostel I was going for sleepover was practically a hostel of cultists.

Things went normal at first. We ate bread with suya, and after Ludo game, we settled down to read.

I am not one of those who do late night readings. I cherish my night rest. So, I dozed off.

All I remembered was hearing a loud noise and then glass breaking. It took me a while to remember that I was not in my own room. By then, loud gunshots were already sounding left, right, centre.

As a soldier man's child, I had already thrown myself flat on the ground to avoid getting hit by stray bullets.

Then after what seemed like hours, the gunshots stopped. Then I was hearing siren in the distance.

My friend crawled to me and was like, "No worry dem don go. No so the thing be for here."

I was like "Jesus, so you know sey dis place na warzone, you sey make we come do overnight reading here? You mad?"

To cut the long story short, we could not come out until the day was bright. And come and see blood everywhere on the wall, floor, staircase. I saw three human brains sef.

Anyone who went to UI may know the hostel I am talking about.

Baba na lie you dey cap

What year did this happen? I studied in UI. The school management had long curb the menace of cultism on campus.

Cultism is practically dead in UI. Maybe you're talking about another UI that I do not know of.

The broker the person (be it man or woman), the more expensive they become. And by expense, it's not limited to the financial aspect of it, but other non financial aspect.

Be ready to carry all her financial burden, and trust that she may use shaming tactics, lack appreciation since she doesnt know what it takes to make money. And it would be difficult to know if she is with you for your money.

True, men do not ask women for their money in the past, but women now are different from then. Back then, chastity was the norm, most of our parents married virgins, and women knew their duties to their home. Not now.

Most importantly, expecting a woman to be working is confirmation of her productivity, not to leech on her. Gone are the days where a woman will just show up and expect to be handed the world. Most men will take care of their woman, but she should be productive.

Quite unfortunate that no African country has ever reached world cup semifinal let alone winning the cup in the history of football. I think FIFA should give the whole Africa only one slot, let them pick their 23 or 26 man squad from all the African countries to produce one team for every world cup.

This is hilariousgrin

Even if they do that, do you think Africa will still go far?

Programming / Re: Chronicles Of A Data practitioner In The UK by SavageBoy: 7:32am On Nov 12, 2022
Ejiod:
To be sincere, this new opportunity was a great one for me.
The journey started Q2 of this year. All I can say is His Grace propelled me beyond my thinking.
Though it hasn't been that easy especially when you consider some factors. Aside from that, I was doing fine.

Rewind--->>

Back then in Nigeria, I worked as an analyst, my last experience really shaped my skillset, especially SQL. No one will tell you this.
SQL currently remains the number 1 skill any data professional should have. Then in my previous company, we had like 5 analysts, each writing SQL queries that are always complex and from that output making use of BI tools or python to analyze and present the result. It was a great collaboration.
From the growth I had, a series of thoughts started lingering if I should switch to data engineering since I already had good background knowledge in SQL, databases, and python. I just had to shelve it.

Fast foward>>>

The fact is that everyone has been applying to international countries and has been getting regret mail. I have been there too.
In May I applied for a position. The 1st stage was a code challenge/analytics questions to test my skills. After passing the stage, I had 3 extra interviews( technical, non-technical, and work culture fit test).

Mid-July, I got a mail that I was successful and that the immigration agency would reach out to me.
Omoooo, thats how I jumped up oooo. I can't remember how many times I jumped. It was a big moment for me. If someone had earlier told me I was going to the UK this year I would just laughed at the person.
Ending of july, that's how I got a mail from the company processing the immigration to enter my details. They got me my certificate of sponsorship in 2 weeks. The visa type is a skilled worker hence the need to get the sponsorship certificate.
During the process, I had to get Medium of instruction, BSc certificate/transcript which puts me on level C1 of English proficiency.
Early September, I applied for the Visa(Priority) which came out in a week.
The biggest jump I had this year was when I got a call from DHL that someone is waiting outside. I already knew it was my passport. Getting downstairs, I saw the man. He gave me the parcel, that's how I quickly climb upstairs and opened the door. The next move was opening the package. As I opened my passport, it automatically opened in the middle and I saw the visa stamp. That's how I jumped up oo, I was jumping like a child.

....still writing..

Better travel if you have the chance.

Pansophist is a citizen already. You have none. If you like, stay in this dead Nigeria, you go hear am later. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Be wise.

Remember, Tinubu is becoming president in few months. Be prepared for Buhari Promax ×10. Pansophist can afford to relocate all his family outside of the country if e red, but you? Na agbado and ewa go get you last last.

Be wise, my friend. Just equip yourself well before you travel (skills, qualifications) etc.

Uyail, why you dey give me wotowoto like this??grin

Me that I'm talking sef, I don't see myself in Nigeria in the next 1 yeargrin. God knows I can't wait to leave, but like what you said, I'm skilling up like mad.

Abroad will be sweeter if you go with something tangible to offer, that's what I'm trying to do. I ain't desperate like some may be. If it's possible though, I'll love to migrate to a black populated, yet stable and economically viable country.

Abroad has never freaked me from day one. In fact there are things delaying me here and after that, I am relocating back to Africa, maybe not Nigeria, but Africa. For me, I will rather go for tourism, buy things, then come back to my domain where I am a king. I like big houses with huge forest behind them, like the sun, and living in a place where the people looks like me, and see me as an example of a citizen they want to be like. I like pride.

I have been living in the west since I was a teenager, and there is no a single year I didn't go to Nigeria at least twice. So I am not speaking from a place of ignorance. I know Nigeria well, and I go often. The country has lots of bad sides, I know, but I like it. But of course, I admit that if one is in a very lower economic rung, the country will be hell. ANd for that, I thank God.

I like the fact that you're being plain about this japa of a thing.

Let's say you weren't abroad or you haven't gone abroad before, a lot of people will say you're speaking in ignorance.

For a truth, I would love to relocate, but I'm beginning to change my perspective about this relocation stuff. I would love to relocate to a country where I know I'll find a lot of my black skinned people, not one that will make me lonely or home sick.

Speaking of an African country that's relocating worth to, what are the African countries that's at the top of your list??

Have you swallowed the redpill? grin

If not, make me clear you small. When a country is designated as ''underdeveloped'', what that word stands for is that the brain of the people is not functioning well. Nigeria has a large population that is not just illiterate, but irredeemable idiots who make lifelong problems due to their idiocy. If you move Nigerians to the US, and import all Americans to Nigeria, then in twenty years time, Nigeria will be like the US, and the US will be like Nigeria.

I don't like euphemisms, its one thing that I hate. I am strong enough to accept the harsh truths, don't lie to me. So next time you hear the word ''underdeveloped country'', it basically a euphemistic dressing for a country that is densely populated with people wey no get sense. The richest country all have a high HDI (human development index), and the poorest aka Burundi has the lowest. And many of the richest dont have natural resources.

I usually answer lots of questions concerning traveling on the travel section, and I will be shocked how someone earning about 2M monthly wants to dump it and move abroad. To make it clear, I am not against going abroad, please do, explore the planet, its your homeland. But to dump certainty, for uncertainty, is pure wickedness to yourself.

Bros e be like say this abroad no dey freak you again?...You don see abroad finishgrin

Took a paycut to move to Germany. This is the portfolio of a mentor of mine https://olaolu.dev/. He has no degree and was sponsored to work in shopify canada from Nigeria. Before the sponsorship, he was already a very wealthy man in Nigeria.

Wow! Just checked out his portfolio and I'm surprised he specializes in just front end web development. Why then do people still think web development is a saturated field with little opportunities?
