There is rabid racism all over europe, England is very racist and blacks here do not have access to the same level of opportunities or even enjoy the same levels of success as blacks in america. There is also a racial hierarchy here with whites at the top, asians and other non black groups in the middle and blacks at the bottom, our low population (approximately 3% ensures that we have very little influence in determining policy).

Oh ok. I was unaware of the part about the photographer. Thanks fro sharing. And yes, racism is still very much alive and well here in the US. I think because people outside of the US see certain images on tv, they assume that all is well over here. Not too long ago, I was at a Russian neighborhood with a male friend of mine and we were being affectionate with one another and I got a dirty look from a young Russian couple that was walking by. The scars of racism are still very fresh within American society. Some people may look at it and say "Move on" or "That was a long time ago" but that just not the case. Its a very touching subject both for African Americans and African living in America [especially for those Africans who have grown up or lived in the US for a long time].

Most of the people saying move on will have a change of heart if they experience. However, I think the issue with humanity atimes is the inability to be empathic.

That people are always criticising Beyonce or whatever, if any other celebrity were to use shoe polish or whatever to darken ONLY their face in order to pay tribute to Africa or wherever they would get flack for it. Even Forest Whittiker got some flack for painting his whole body dark to play "Last King of Scotland."

As a non African American I know that there is a bitter history behind black face. Therefore I am not sure how Beyonce who is actually an African American did not take this into consideration when she agreed to wear black face as an "artisitic" endevour.

Plus the picture is supposedly paying tribute to Fela Kuti and honoring African Queens. Really!?! What exactly about these pictures is honoring Fela or Africa?
Do Africans only come in one skin shade or are there really no Africans that are the same complexion as Beyonce?
Does Beyonce who is AFRICAN American need for only her face to be painted black to honor African Queens?
Are there no dark models who could be used for the shoot instead of darkening her face?

To pretend that this was done as an artistic expression is quite ludicrous.
Personally I think she did it because she would be paid good money. Get more exposure although she already has plenty. And stir up controversy, which is good for business. Because in the entrainment industry publicity, whether negative or positive publicity is publicity.

Finally, I don't know if I was somehow clumsy talking about how my people view darker skin people, but to show you how it's really difficult to tell I remember that I argued once with a friend (Algerian "white" too, who lived in a town 30km distant from mine) about  if there's actually any racism in Algeria against black people, and we totally disagreed on that! I think that the best answer that I should gave is that's unfortunately a non-issue for most people there even for the black Algerians and I'm pretty sure that you'll never find any Algerian saying that he will be glad to kill black people as it was said right here about Arabs/North Africans,

Odd enough, I have a female Muslim friend who has traveled to various Arab countries; Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Morocco, Algeria just to name a few, and she has told me that the perceptions of blacks and dark skinned people are horrible. She even tried to start a campaign in one of these countries where she did her study abroad in order to try and educate people against their prejudice. However, she said her efforts were shut down.

I think though that experiencing the situation as a black person and perceiving it as a non-black are completely different.

My take: i wud prefer the old format, since have been acquainted with its question type, My own take,

I have never taken the GRE but I think being one of the first people to take with the new format will be a better idea. Just my take on it.

I liked it for the most part, however, the last guy ruined it by not sticking to positives.
