i love being west african, i love my brown skin, and although i have very tough nigerian hair like lil wayne said, i am proud to be brown, although i wish i had softer hair lol, i have recently cut off my permed hair in order to fully embrace my west african roots, which leads me to my other point, our constant need to straighten out hair to resemble caucasians, some people may claim its for convinience but i suspect our ideals of beauty have been molded by western influences, whether or not we like to admit this or if we r even mentally consious to observe this is a totally diff matter

sometimes i hear nigerians say, she is so beautiful she looks like an american, haha , so obviously u will have some one say oh look at that girl, she is so ugly she looks african, peoples perception of beauty is very subjective and i hope u can learn to accept ur self as u are, looking west african doesnt mean ur ugly, it just means u look dif from the av AA, go out and work that thing babes, its a blessing in my opinion to be different either physically, mentally or otherwise, elec wek i think she is called is a fcking super model, she may not be beautiful by conventional standards but unconventionally she is,

be proud of ur self, i have been to the states and i know many so called black americans that our nigerian musicians copy constantly especially in the way they dress, r indeed ignorant weed smoking boffuns, i employ u to educate ur self not just within the four walls of a school but in other ways as well, the light skinned, conventionally beautiful AA who r college drop outs, often end up in the hood wiv diff children from different fathers, i dnt care how light skinned u r, ignorance makes anyone ugly and dat includes west africans as well, enof said am off to bed, have a fab life and no more self harm aite

You will be surprised. Not to be stereotypical but Americans tend to be affected by people's view on them compared to Africans. Probably because we, Africans have bigger problems to worry about, we can't be bothered by petty things like that. It's not a matter of age. people are easily influenced in America.

@Tisha, it was funny at first but now, you need to calm down. why should you care what AA men(your people or not) think of you? Some Nigerian girls get the same treatment from Nigerian men and vice versa. You don't see anybody killing themselves. So long as you know you look good and always have that mindset(some might call it being conceited but who cares?), you'll be fine. I think you give these men the impression that their opinions matter. You need to start by being confident in yourself.

You shoud have at least first show us from the pages of the Bible, where Jesus recommended Chrsitianity. After reading this thread, am I to assume think that only Muslim men beat their wives? I ask because the last time I checked, domestic abuse doesn’t have a religion, a race, a gender or a nationality. It happens every day in every house.
