DezMayorz:In other words, no plan. How is he going to partner with the private sector to build cheap houses? Is he going to offer subsidised land and building materials? Which average income earner in the civil service can afford a house in an estate? Leverage the FG to build low cost housing? Is this even a plan? There are 37 states in Nigeria (FCT regarded as a state here) why should Rivers be given special attention above others? And if the FG fails to agree to their plight, that's one less plan, right? Removal of encumbrances in land acquisition is good, but how does it affect the actual cost of land? How would removing encumbrances help me get an affordable land in Peter Odili Road, for example? This all amounts to no actual plan that would really improve housing situation in the state. As usual, everything about him is fraudulent, or laced with fraudulent intent. |
This is an opportunity for Africa to at least make the finals. Hopefully North Africa, once again, rescues our dignity. |
It's not hard to figure out why he was banned, though. |
Proliferating institutions of higher education isn't the issue. Let's strengthen the ones we already have. |
If you watched Atedo Peterside's interview on "Arise Prime time" last night, you'd know the answer to this question. The election was a complete sham. I hope PO claims his mandate in court, though. Because our legal system is a huge pile of crap. |
I had a similar experience back in 2019 at Pankshin LGA, Plateau state. By instruction we arrived the LGA INEC office around 3pm with eagerness to receive materials and depart. Usually by 4pm the cold starts there. By 11pm we had received no words from anyone, still just idling away in the extreme cold. Everyone, especially those of us new to the climate were shivering like no tomorrow. I don't know how we managed to survive the cold and hunger we suffered that night with absolutely nothing by way of supplies. Not even covering one's body with weather jackets or even thick duvets seemed to improve the situation. It was complete hell. Not one official was kind enough to come out and even utter encouraging words. Around 2am, we were informed that the election had been postponed. I saw fellow Corps members lying out in the open on grass like destitutes. After all said and done, after the election was done, it took a protest before the EO gave us our stipends. See ehn, Nigeria is rotten, so rotten that I don't think we even appreciate how deeply decayed it is. Our public offices are filled with people whose heart have been seared with red-hot iron. They're are demonically wicked and fiendish. don't even know how. It astounds me how we managed to reach these levels of societal rot and wickedness. |
Smartini:Nairaland has gone to the dogs. Having a decent conversation void of ethnic bigotry and unnecessary jokes are extremely hard to come by now. I'll advice you visit Quora if that's the kind of social media engagement you want. |
Ishilove:The only sin "Puss in boots: The last wish" committed was coming out same year as Del Toro's Pinocchio. The Academy was always going to favour any Pinocchio movie due to nostalgia, and considering it was indeed a great movie, it had the Oscars coming. |
There's no light anywhere in Port Harcourt. The worst state in terms of power supply has to be Rivers State. There no way we're better off than another state in the whole country. |
INEC gave themselves away the moment they deliberately sabotaged transmission of results from PUs. I am very interested in Peter Obi's victory, and even though I was a bit skeptical about his chances, I would have wholeheartedly accepted his loss if due process was followed. When one considers that the BVAS served their purpose in the off-season elections, one is tempted to ask what actually happened to them in this one. All in all, there should be no post-election violence. |
ManAdii:I'm from Rivers State. Tai LGA, ward 6. Tai voted massively for Tinubu. I can't really say for other LGAs, but as far as Tai LGA goes he was voted massively for. It's not even a contest at all. There seem to be this belief among Ogonis that a Tinubu victory would aid Magnus Abe's chances next week. Also, vote buying was rife. And yet, up till now voters haven't even received their loot. They were played. |

No link. This won't make FP. |
Look at their fat stomachs. They have absolutely no idea what's happening in the streets where their ridiculous policies have the most effect. People are stranded on the road. Cabs aren't accepting the old notes anymore, and POS vendors do not have cash for customers. It's utter chaos out there, and I'm sure they'd be busy telling the President that all is well. I shake my head for this country. |
If Dangote didn't build one, an entire oil producing country wouldn't have one working refinery. We've been having consecutive bad leaders since 1999. So bad it's unbelievable that we're still one after 23 years. |
fr3do:The APC started sabotage of the country? Oh, come on! People have hoarding fuel, stealing oil, etc. since time. |
DrAkpamudehe:Isn't it interesting that, thus far in our exchange, only the kid has been able to maintain respect, decorum and stayed on topic? We're in trouble with your kind voting in a democracy. |
DrAkpamudehe:If you are the quintessential '70s and '80s brightest minds, then that era isn't is as great as it is made out to be. Like I said, I will vote for Peter Obi in the general elections regardless of his chances. And whoever wins, I hope they do their bit to help the Nigerian project. |
Exclusive101:What has Tinubu got to do with a Presidential backed CBN policy that's wrecking havoc in the financial space? I don't belong in that group, please. |
Exclusive101:What has Tinubu got to do with a Presidential backed CBN policy that wrecking havoc in the financial space? I don't belong in that group, please. |
DrAkpamudehe:I think you should heed your own advice. Because your kind shouldn't be allowed anywhere close to sane minds. |
Nigerians are the only people in the world who would gladly stand and watch their own country burn. The new notes are available, but cannot be found anywhere in the public space for commercial use. I don't blame them, though. This is all on the President and Emefiele. |
DrAkpamudehe:I care less who wins the election. I will vote my conscience, and I hope you do, too. Whoever wins, let's hope they contribute wholeheartedly to the Nigerian project. If you have other motives or reasons for your preferred candidate winning, that's your cup of tea. I am concerned only about my country. |
I live in Port Harcourt, an indigene of Rivers State, and I am going to vote Peter Obi. Wike does not have my sympathy, and, except for his flyovers, he did nothing to deserve my support for his chosen candidates. I'm voting Tonye Cole and Peter Obi in the general elections. I'll travel to Tai LGA for the first time ever to cast my vote. |
The policy is partly sensible, but was doomed to fail due to weak laws, weak technological structures and weak institutions. The politicians for whom this law was made already have the new notes in the quantity they want. The masses, as always, will bear the brunt of a policy poorly executed. Emefiele, speaking to the house committee the other day said collection of old notes continues till further notice. Why then is there a deadline? Deadline for what? He also said bank notes in plastic wrappings were found in people's custody in parties across the country, which was against the law. Given that those notes can be traced all the way back to the issuing bank, it begs the question, "why aren't these banks penalised for these acts of deliberate sabotage against the government"? Our laws in this country are made to be deliberately weak. Too weak to have a functional society. This policy has completely failed. What a country! |
gbogboija:I'm shocked that you also don't see Oyetola as a victim (or potentially one) here. If it's indeed established that there was over-voting in Osun, wouldn't it be in the best interest of our electoral process that Oyetola is declared winner? I care about who wins now, but I care more about the process. I won't have even the best candidates winning elections through faulty a process. God forbid. |
Sterope:The issue is those who voted without accreditation weren't captured by the BVAS, hence the Tribunal's verdict. What that OP said is true. The BVAS has gone through every manipulation tests prior to its acceptance and approval by INEC. The machine is an intelligent piece of hardware that accredits according to process. If ever there's over-voting recorded in any PU, the BVAS would have the authentic number of voters. So those thugs and saboteurs who plan on intimidating adhoc staff and force authentication and voting would only end up denting their preferred candidate's chances. |
For those who know, they realise that underground work is ongoing. These visits are strategic and in a couple of weeks time we'll find out the results. I hope whoever wins makes this country better, even though I don't think they would. |
With all due respect to the CBN and all involved in this redesign policy, it's foolish making an important monetary decision based on elections. It's a very third world thing to do. Be that as it may, anything to at least stifle these no-good moneybags determined to induce vote buying with their stolen wealth is welcomed. The 10 days extension is more than enough for the financial sector to absorb the policy shock (even though they had 3 months to) and make necessary adjustments to ease the sufferings of Nigerians. Anyone asking for more time has Ill intentions, and those intentions are exactly why the policy was made in the first place. Please get your PVC and vote Peter Obi. |
Every eligible voter in my house is voting Obi. That's my quota towards nation building as far as the ballot goes. I plan on visiting my polling unit soon to preach Obi to them, because, here in Rivers State a lot of folks are undecided. I pray Obi wins. He's clearly ahead of the rest without a spec of doubt. God bless Nigeria God bless Peter Gregory Obi |
I'm definitely voting Peter Obi in the next election, but you see Osinbajo? I, too, would have put my life on the line for him. He's everything I wished for in a Nigerian President. APC really had him and opted for Tinubu? Our political elites in the PDP and APC are wicked people with no real concern for the country. VOTE PETER GREGORY OBI for PRESIDENT. |
The hope here is that their submission came from strategy and empirical facts. I'm, however, tempted to think that they're just posturing. Governors are the footmen of Nigerian politics. Losing one is threatening as it is, and Atiku is being told he can win without five! I hope he has a plan to back his resolve, though. The two other candidates are no pushovers, and he seem right now to be behind both. |
