I've never supported this man, but the manner he makes "the people" and "service to them" central in his speeches dey burst my brain. It's refreshing to have a President who has the people at heart. |
Because of cross wey dem crest put for monument, person demolish the whole monument. You see the kind of people we parade in this country as leaders and expect to be a functional society. This level is thinking is abysmally stone-age. Heck, not even stone-age aboriginals are capable of this level of low thinking! |
So sad. Nigerians are acutely averse to safety measures for some bizarre reasons, and this isn't just about water transportation. We just love to put ourselves at risk of mortal harm for no good reason. You see artisans doing construction work on scaffolds of high-rise buildings with no safety harness on. There are just a handful of jetties that make life-jackets compulsory for ferry and boat passengers. The state govts do not regulate these local jetties, and yet every month boat mishaps happen. All it takes to avoid accidents like this one is to strap a life-jacket on, and yet we don't do it, and instead fill the boat beyond capacity and pray nothing happens along the way. |
This is hilarious. |
Ttipsy:Since 1960, eh? |
Couldn't even produce laws to solve just electricity problems for so long. Tufiakwa!!! |
A terribly juvenile take on this infinitely broad topic. |
Ibechris2:Jonathan failed which gave credibility to the propaganda. I'm from Rivers State, and I'm less than pleased that East-West road is lying in comatose as we speak. Also, it turns out the man Tinubu is the mastermind behind the APC's propaganda machinery. He has the required press levers to swing public opinion easy. Your assertion is the least of his worries. |
Mbah is living on borrowed time. He is a goner. Such a wealthy man parading a fake NYSC certificate is just amusing. |
One thing I can never understand is, why a man who has the resource to buy as many exotic vehicles as he wishes would still go ahead and steal the ones he bought for the office of the governor. The greed of Nigeria's political class is automatic doom for this country. It's unbelievable. |
Reminds me of the John Wick 4 movie quote, "A man's ambition should not exceed his worth". Well, in this case Nigeria has plenty of worth. Aiming for a 6% GDP growth would spur the President and the economic team to work hard. Nigeria still remains an untapped goldmine. There's is a ton of things we can do to achieve 6% GDP growth. |
The actual problem isn't the tendency to loot. It's the fact that those who engage in it go scot-free, thereby encouraging others to replicate the act. If state funds, and not private funds, was used to purchase the missing vehicles then someone must go to jail, or else, the cycle continues unabated. |
This subsidy removal was a masterstroke. Funny it took a civilian through and through to remove it. Something ex-generals didn't have the heart to do. |
But even if it's safe CNG costs more. What's the advantage? |
Sisora:This. |
8/10 If this is how he would lead, he has already secured my vote in 2027. |
I would understand if states like Lagos and Rivers want a lot of SAs. What I don't understand is these RMFAC surviving states doing so. At the end of the day, the state's IGR would remain the same, and more debt would be accrued from servicing these guys. They do this because there's always money to go obtain in Abuja every 23rd of a month. This is specifically why we have to seriously consider fiscal federalism. If every state survived on what they earned, 90% of these governors wouldn't even want to be governors. |
Nigerians whyyy!!! Whyyyyy!!! |
I am fully OBIDIENT, and it pains me to agree with Reno. The manner with which Tinubu handled this whole subsidy saga, and how he reasoned with the various unions is nothing short of admirable. I admire it well well. If he continues down this path, I probably may need to study his good sides and learn a thing or two. I envisaged a completely messy situation with Labour and TUC, but he handled it with finesse. He did promise that no strike would be recorded in his government, so we wait. Any leader who is accessible and easy to reason with is destined for greatness, and Tinubu is well on his path. I hope for all our sakes he performs. |
I overheard a story last week of a high ranking employee of NDPR relocating abroad to go work in elderly people's home. Kai! Una get mind no worry. Person get money to live for Gulf estate, PH, or one of theses fancy locations, and to buy better car. E abandon all only to dey work for elderly people's home for yankee... Tueh! I no fit. I go instead enroll my children for boarding school there, then dey visit periodically. |
I'm just glad they didn't press for a reversal of the removal. Because, at this point we all agree subsidy has to end. Most of us, at least. |
Ebubu2:Benue is a predominantly Christian state. And please, do not introduce religious bias into this affair. Benue has seen the light at last. |
After what Abians suffered in the hands of T. A. Orji and his lackey Ikpeazu, Otti on the platform of LP is a well-deserved reprieve. Even if Otti wasn't poised to perform, the goodwill he enjoys from the masses would propel him. Enugu state should prepare to receive their own reprieve. |
Who an inundate some of us of the cause of the crisis ? |
If this is how Mr. Tinubu intends to run his government, I can only say, "Congrats Nigerians". |
Some women would have gladly accepted it, especially the ones of this generation. And that's how they would let a ritualist loose into society to continue murdering innocents. Although, I think the state would have taken up the case if she did drop charges. Justice served is nourishing to the bones, and one can only imagine how glad the woman is right now. May God bless her and replenish all she's has lost. |
Not much really. Cost of transportation here in PH, at least along my route increased by N100 for a 1hr plus journey. Cost of food stuff is pretty much the same, I guess it's because cost of diesel actually controls that sector and not PMS. The major issue now is domestic electricity. |
This manner with which this whole subsidy situation ends would serve as a pointer to what we can come to expect from this administration. They call Tinubu a master-strategist. Well, it's indeed time to show he's actually one. Negotiations must be conducted in such a way that labour unions bear full participation in both advisory capacity and benefitting party. This is a test Mr. Tinubu, and if he passes it his legend would outlive him. If he fails, he'd be demystified forever. |
This is exactly the position of many think tanks. The NNPC cannot decide a price template for a fully deregulated sector. The other day, NNPC MD boldly asserted that not even 100 refineries in Nigeria can alter the price template. Meaning the NNPC was still very much in control of everything, and not necessarily market forces. This is antithetical to what they say they want to achieve. I support subsidy removal only if the oil and gas sector is fully deregulated. It is time to destroy the menacing NNPC from its roots. It is utterly bizarre that a regulator of an industry is actively involved in business in the same industry. NNPC cannot be the sole importer of petroleum products and oversee subsidy removal. It must return to its responsibility of regulation and leave independent importers to import. It's either that or they return to status quo. |
Not Quite. |
Monimaker22:We need the complete story. |
Everything about this governor is smooth and excellent. Benue has truly seen the light. |
