share the plan but if what you want is an estimate then it should be about 2500 - 2700 blocks

You have another option, which is polystyrene ceiling. I learned that is better than the 2 option you are considering but let the experts in the house advice us because I am contemplating doing it for my project.

Hello Guys, Good Morning and Happy new year..
Please am new in here and I need some tips and advice on what to do..

I purchased a plot of land last year measured 100ft by 100ft.. I did all settlement and started putting in trips of Sand upto 10times . ( the normal trailer size called double/two in one tipper)..

The plan was to build a 4 Bedroom Bungalow with sitting room dinnerroom and all..
But when I started molding the blocks there the person who was watching over it convinced me that 5inchs solid kind of blocks is okay to raise such a building because I wasn’t at the country.. but now from the videos and pictures I see everywhere, it seems like what engineers actually use for such building is a 9inch Hollow blocks..

So I got to talk to an engineer yesterday night on the phone and he told me that we could start molding 6inch solid and use it for the surrounding walls then use the previous 5inch for the inner demarcation walls..
Please guys with experience, what’s your take on this??

Secondly is 6inch solid a good substitute for 9inch hollow blocks??
P.S I intend to do a Parapet on it and won’t the weight be too much??

And do anyone has a good modern 4bedroom bungalow plan , can you please notify me ??

1st. 5inches solid is not OK as the engineer advised.

2nd. YES, 6 inches solid can stand for 9 inches hollow.

3rd. I'll advice you consider strategic column position to carry the concrete parapet.

Lastly... Not all internal wall would be 5 inches also, some partition walls should also be 6 inches to aid the weight of the roof. While 5 inches goes to toilet walls and partition walls close to 6 inches load bearing walls.

You cant get an estimate WITHOUT sharing the floor plan for knowledge of how much block / work is involved....

On Monday I gave my wife Christmas shopping money to get foodstuffs, hers and children clothing including our house help.

Yesterday my wife went shopping, she bought clothes for herself, our children and nothing for the house help. She claimed that the girl doesn’t need any clothes for Christmas as long we feed and send her to school, the rest is her parents' duties. The girl in question is my wife's relative from the same village. This girl is so nice to our children, she is like a second mother to them despite her being just 15, I have never had any problem with her.

I was mad at her that I told her, if she cannot treat another woman's child well then she doesn’t deserve to be a mother, yes I did said some harsh words to her because of anger. She accused me of sleeping with the little girl which I told her she is mad and she couldn’t stop crying the whole night. This morning she didn’t make my breakfast and refused greeting me back.

Please house let me know if I overreacted

The best advice is AFTER WHAT JUST HAPPENED, RETURN THE KID BACK TO HER PARENTS - you can get another; I dont see peace as long as she's in that house.....

I just want your advice based on experience.

We've done a study of the houses around, and more than half of them are already experiencing uneven settlement.

Those built using raft are worse off. Those built with pile up to 7metres deep are already settling badly too.

To save cost, that's what I'm thinking, but I fear for settlement

STABILIZE THE SOIL - It would take a about 6 - 1 year to achieve...... (based on experience) OR do a deep pile as you plan to.... (Note: I didn't suggest Pile was wrong, I'm only imagining if the land is that bad; since your replies suggest it is - do the needful)

Its difficult for me to know, because I haven't visited the site or seen pics - for advice, study the houses around and the type of foundation used...

Another option is to STABILIZE the land if its that bad - then use RAFT foundation; to safe cost....

but IF the structural engineers says its PILE, I believe he knows best, follow is advice.

Machine reached it's final stop at exactly 28 metres deep into the sub structure.

Location is around Ogudu Ori-oke

Just a rough estimate and not the specific.

IF what you've been advised to use is pile foundation (IF), you'll need more than a rough estimate, you'll need a structural engineer doing a detailed design and a Q.S for cost advice based on that design.

I will need little advice though, am a student( just 23) and I bought some plots of land in iyana oba after LASU. Lagos state at a location that's have opened up with everything (God's doing). My initial plan was to fence the 3plot and leave it for long term to appreciate. I thought it was an expenses of probably 500k. After proper analysis. It's an estimate of 1.5mil(both with casting and all in all). Like a standard fence.

Am paying 500k house rent for my parents yearly and some other little house expenses and am in my finals so would still start paying for another house for myself after school.

SO am thinking if I can DREAM of building a house for myself and putting my parents there till all things are good to build another or do bigger project or I should just fence the 3 plot and still keep paying house rent for them.

My budget is 1.5m to start with if I want to start building a 3 bedroom flat and good thing there is that the seller has already done foundation in 1plot. So foundation cost is out of the equation cos it's been covered in the payment of the land.

I need an advice.
Though the seller adviced me to start from where he stopped.
I don't need to seek my parents or family advice on this cos it's actually a YES answer for me to build the house.

So I need an outsider advice

I'm begging you...

BUILD THE 3 BED..... any other advice can't be better ON THE LONG RUN.
