I didn't add skirting, normally tilers don't charge for that extra, its part of the package in the per m2 charging.

eg, If I tell my tiler to tile a room of 10m2 at 400 naira per m2 = he knows it includes skirting.....

I can't say for other tilers thou...

using 1:3:6 we have...

CEMENT = 123 bags
SAND = 21 tonnes
GRANITE = 50 tonnes

CEMENT = 570 bags

SAND = 64 tonnes

GRANITE = 160 tonnes

this calculation is for 600m2 of concrete using 1:2:4 and thickness of 100mm

CEMENT = 380 bags

SAND = 43 tonnes

GRANITE = 106 tonnes

what concrete ratio are you using?
1:3:6 or 1:2:4

Thanks... I guess I messed up at first. I didn't ask him how much he charges /m^2. I will now confront him with the facts to get a better bargain. For our NL tilers, please post pictures of your works here, the job is still available for the best.

Pls Note. Staircase case are not paid per m2 but at agreed fees... If it's a storey building.

He charged 150k for 191sqm, I priced it to 100k. Though, I won't commit myself totally until I'm satisfied that the amount I'm paying is mutually beneficial

OK (100k) IS FAIR ENOUGH - you can even get it done for less (say 80k) ... @N400 / m2

I guess I will look for a young dude that can do a better job than a dude with 20 years exp for less

sir , for my own experiences it's not encouraging most cases in a decking area, it's gud to install ur railings before u tiles sir,

If I was advising sm1 I'm sure used leveling instruments in building, my answer wld be different.

Don't make the mistake... Tile b4 Rail for me thou. (my opinion sir)

Good point from you ,but at 1st you don’t need to tiles the point where the stair railing legs will be erected or you can leave a whole roll in that section without tiling it, then after the railing you will now tiled the portion.
But at time I do tiled the whole area bcs I do give my workers Diamond cutter to drill the railing leg point when railings comes in.

Install railings before fixing tiles or fix tiles before railings

your best bet is - INSTALL TILES then come back to railing later..

reason is simple - TILING is going to alter a lot of levels, when all levels are in place, you know how your railing wld look like... offcourse the rail installer might need to drill or remove 1, 2 or 3 tiles - but that quantity is so minute, you wont even feel it - just have your stock pile (extra tiles) handy.

It prevents cracks in public use floors
it is used to strengthen the floor to receive the load of the super-structure (8mm mesh and above)
It prevents the floor from breaking in weak soil eg Waterlogged soil and RAFT foundation.

If your building is a residential ON GOOD / SOILD soil and normal strip foundation - you don't need it.

IF your foundation is on RAFT - you need reinforcement bars in the german floor.

4 Inches is OK for the german floor also

Use 3/4 down.... Dont buy 1 inche, any excess on site might not be good for columns etc.... (infact always buy 3/4 down or half inch)
