InvestmentRe: Sincere Questions To Muslims by Scholar8200(op): 12:06pm On Dec 16, 2016
Yet another question inspired by lexiconkabirr's fp thread:

Since Muslims believe God gave David the psalms which emphatically admonishes the use of singing and use of musical instruments (even Jesus sang a hymn and God gave Moses a song to teach Israel), why the sudden prohibition of music?
Besides, if all music has satan as its source, who then isnpired David?

Christianity EtcRe: Did Jesus Really Command The Apostles To Preach To The Gentiles? by Scholar8200(m):
You properly concealed your post. smiley

Anyway to reply your topic:

It starts from Genesis where God promised Abraham that:

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.Genesis 22:18

Here, we see that ALL the Earth, not just one, shall be blessed by that Seed.

The descendants of Abraham - the Israelites- had a benefit since He came by them but:

He came unto his own, and his own received him not John 1:11 These were the lost sheep and majority rejected Him.

Infact, God had before revealed that:

1. Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles
'
I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;Isaiah 42:1,6

And in accordance with the foregoing, Jesus said:

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 24:47

Now, why would the 12 and many others in Acts go to preach in various nations if there was no such command? Just before you claim Paul started it remember Peter actually started it when he went to Cornelius' house!

Besides, if muslims say Jesus was not crucified, when did He give this command that the disciples lived and died for? Who motivated a band of fearful fishermen who were all too eager to return to their nets to suddenly become fearless preachers even in the face of death?

What are your arguments against Donald Trump being the antichrist?
There has been too many speculations about American Presidents.

For example RONALD WILSON REAGAN was so accused. Some were further deceived by the fact that his 3 names had 6 letters each meaning 666! cheesy

It has become too popular such that no speculation in that direction should be taken seriously. Meanwhile, it seems people might just be looking the wrong direction.

21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
2 Corinth 12:21

Nicolaitan: But, bro Paul, dont you understand grace? Why ask them to repent? Are they not 'permanently saved no matter what they do'?

Scriptures:

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

and I think it same with others for the 2nd, third and forth missionaries that spread the gospel at that time I believe non got married although there is no written records to back this up.

but as a Christ-like as it's called, Pastors shouldn't have partakes in mortal things but things of immortal.

for if anyone truly believe in the bible with whole heart they will surely not bother of keeping a wife/husband or family.

its because they don't believe and that's why they keep immortal things. money wife and family. these guys haven't rewritten the bible and yet manage to succeed in this act without questioning.
Now go back and read 1 Corinthians 9:5 and Mark 1:30

Well, consider the picture below. That place called Nuwayba' al Muzayyinah which means "Waters of Moses Opening", is a place today, the location of which, historical corroborates that story.

The issues of Continental drift and Seafloor spreading can be studied here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seafloor_spreading

Implication is that:

1. Genesis records that the Land appeared as a single mass out of the water;Genesis 1:9

2. The water then was described as the great deep when the flood came down in the time of Noah Genesis 7:11

3. Over time, the gradual process of Continental drift and Seafloor spreading began but the depth of the water bodies that separated nations/continents were not as deep as we have them today. Besides, the inflow of the great deep into these other ones would have been gradual.

4. Hence it will be anachronistic to assume that the depth of water bodies today was the same then.

InvestmentMicrosoft Acquires Linkedin by Scholar8200(op): 10:25am On Dec 14, 2016
As we closed LinkedIn's acquisition by Microsoft today, I sent the following to our team. Publishing it here on the network for those interested in learning more about where we'll be focusing our integration efforts. For additional context, here is a link to my original post at the time of the initial announcement.

Team,

Six months ago, we announced our intention to be acquired by Microsoft. At the time, Satya and I shared the background of the deal and our joint vision for changing the way the world works. Today I’m pleased to announce that we’ve just officially closed the acquisition. I’m more confident than ever that our move to join forces with Microsoft will accelerate our mission to connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful, and ultimately help create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.

Over the past few months, the LinkedIn and Microsoft leadership teams have been meeting to understand and prioritize the opportunities ahead. We’ve been able to see first-hand the level of innovation being driven at scale -- in artificial intelligence, machine learning, the cloud, devices, and more. We’ve also had the chance to build a deeper relationship with Satya and the Microsoft leadership team, and to witness the strategic and cultural shifts they are driving, and the impressive traction they are seeing as a result.

As we move forward, our day-to-day operations will essentially remain unchanged: We’ll continue to have the same mission and vision, the same culture and values, the same brand, and the same leadership team.

Our members still come first. Our commitment to privacy and security will not change. And our partners are still core to our business. We’ll continue to remain focused on growing LinkedIn and creating value for our members and customers. Over the coming months we’ll start sharing more about how we’re integrating products, especially in areas where we can leverage Microsoft’s scale, e.g.,

LinkedIn identity and network in Microsoft Outlook and the Office suite
LinkedIn notifications within the Windows action center
Enabling members drafting résumés in Word to update their profiles, and discover and apply to jobs on LinkedIn
Extending the reach of Sponsored Content across Microsoft properties
Enterprise LinkedIn Lookup powered by Active Directory and Office 365
LinkedIn Learning available across the Office 365 and Windows ecosystem
Developing a business news desk across our content ecosystem and MSN.com
Redefining social selling through the combination of Sales Navigator and Dynamics 365
Getting to this point wouldn’t have been possible without the teams who have been working tirelessly on the close since we announced the deal in June. I’d like to thank them for all they’ve done to set us up for success as we begin our next chapter.

In so many ways we’re just getting started, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future.

Next play.

Christianity EtcRe: Love Not The World by Scholar8200(op): 8:44pm On Dec 13, 2016
MuttleyLaff:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
- John 3:16

Elsewhere with Kalatium, it was once said its regrettable that the bible for casual & ill-informed reader(s), at times, if not, most of times, might think the bible is contradictory
Classic example will here, where, on one hand, this thread's title says ''Love not the world''
and on another hand, John 3:16 states ''God so loved the world indeed''
Not when the contexts are considered! John 3:16 speaks of the people, 'whosoever'; 1 John 2 speaks of the 'things' therein
Christianity EtcRe: Love Not The World by Scholar8200(op): 6:18pm On Dec 13, 2016
Scholar8200:
Here is a command that most modern believers either do not read or would wish it were not in the Bible. However, the Word stands and we do well to examine ourselves:

1 John 2: 15 - 17

15
Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].

17 And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.

In an era of christian 'liberty', we do well to remember that at the end, the excuse," Our pastor never told us" will not hold!
In the light of this quote, can someone define what is meant by Christian Liberty?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Did So Many Jews Reject Jesus? by Scholar8200(m):
To find an answer to your question op, read Stephen's valedictory message in Acts 7. This is the high point:

51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

Acts 7:51-53
GUESS WHAT THE JEWS DID TO THE SPEAKER!
This silences all the lying claims that jew would not kill jew (when even Zechariah was stoned to death by fellow jews) and jew would not hate jews(when Jeremiah was scourged and cast into a well to die by fellow jews) etc
Christianity EtcRe: What Is Wrong With Christian Women Wearing Trouser? by Scholar8200(m): 9:01am On Dec 12, 2016
Now, having observed comments from both sides, can a believer in the house show us how wearing trouser or not relates to this commands:

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1 John 2:15,16

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you
2 Corinth 6:17

From my little understanding (I stand to be patiently corrected), apart from the command in Deut. 22:5, the passages afore quoted were the motivation for those that preached against women in trousers. Another was the fact that these trousers emphasized sensual contours that should be covered and were a temptation to men both in and out of the Church and the command in the NT is that:

But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

12 [b]But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ
1 Corinth 8:9-12

while I was in school, my biology teacher told me that the females have their adipose tissues above their Gluteus maximus hence the bloating of that part because that tissue houses fats. This increased size is a temptation to men and trousers have a way of highlighting this feature. Hence, just as a person may be sincere but wrong, claiming you wear trousers with no intention to seduce may calm your conscience but may still not leave you guiltless.

In 1 Cor, when Paul is laying out the the tradition of the resurrection to his readers, he lays out a tradition with his own testimony at the end.

1Cr 15:3-8 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
Isaiah 53:6, Zechariah 13:7, Psalm 22, etc

and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
Psalm 16:8-10, Isaiah 26: 19, Hosea 6:2 etc

and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.
these was not affixed with the clause,'according to the Scriptures' because they were not from thence.

let's also examine the "acceptance/rejection" of sacrifices further

wherever god rejected a sacrifice or isn't pleased with it, its usually written clearly that he rejected it/ wasn't pleased with it in the bible

if that is anything to go by, then god must've accepted the sacrifice because rejection wasn't stated
The law prescribed what sacrifices God expected of them. At that time, the people did that which they liked (Judges 17:6), not what was commanded.Would God honour that which is extra-scriptural especially when the offeror knows better?NO
Did God grant him victory because of that vow? NO! Gideon, Barak etc also got victory sans vows.

I'll try my best to be as reasonable and understanding as possible

there was no where god commanded the girl to be sacrificed as burnt offering but Jephthah made the vow and carried it out

Yahweh had NOTHING to do with this, its all on Jephthah, Yahweh didn't force Jephthah to make the vow unlike the case of Abraham/Ibrahim which Yahweh himself "commanded"

one extra biblical addition I like to make is that perhaps Jephthah expected a "servant" or "slave" of his to come out and meet him, he must've fought a lot of wars and his daughter hadn't come out to meet him, this made the vow "easy" for Jephthah to make which eventually backfired

about "acceptance", its not stated but we have to realise that while the acceptance/rejection of many sacrifices are stated, not every sacrifice made in the bible was stated to have been accepted or not; there are instances where the sacrifice is just stated to have been carried out only so its safe to assume it was accepted
alright

Christianity EtcRe: The Psalmist And The "Foolishness" Talk by Scholar8200(m): 7:48pm On Dec 08, 2016

Toooo Much Fallacies in that empty rhetoric Christians spill from that verse in that book of theirs

"The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good." (Psalms 14:1)

Fallacies committed:

ad hominem fallacy : An argument is discounted based on attacking the character of the person making the argument. ("He is wrong when he says there is no God, because he is a fool." )

strawman fallacy : Arguing against a position by creating a different, weaker, or irrelevant position and refuting that position instead of the original. ("There is no God" misrepresents "There isn't sufficient evidence that God exists." )

circular reasoning : The truth of the conclusion is assumed in order to justify the premises. ("The fool says there is no God, because anyone who says there is no God is a fool." )

begging the question : The argument creates a secondary proposition that is related to the primary proposition, which requires a similar argument that is missing. (The existence of God is assumed, while addressing propositions of whether God exists.)

fallacy of inconsistency : The argument is inconsistent with other arguments within the same context.
In the Christian context, Jesus commands against the invective in Psalms 14:1, warning that
"whoever says 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire" in Matthew 5:22.

special pleading : The inappropriate attribution of emotive functions to objects that do not have that capability. (Hearts are not capable of "knowing" or of feeling emotions.)

redundancy : Psalm 53 is identical to Psalm 14.

questionable premise : It is obviously not the case that all atheists do nothing but bad deeds. This premise is invalidated by a single example of an atheist doing a single charitable act.

those are the different fallacies committed by just one verse

lmao!
much ado about nothing!

I never met an atheist who declares his ideas in his heart! And except he says it in public, his heart condition ,as one having disbelief in God, is not known. The passage describes one who has this as a hidden motivation to a life without restraint to the negative.

In fact, a careful look at the passage clearly shows that is the condition of all men before an encounter with Jesus Christ.
Christianity EtcRe: God And Jesus Didn't Forbid Slavery In The Bible. But Why? by Scholar8200(m): 7:36pm On Dec 08, 2016
chrmn1:
Hi friend. There is such a thing as the permissive will of God (Romans 12:1-3). If I marry a harlot today, God puts His stamp on it because I have signed on the dotted line. He puts His stamp on it not because He feels it's the right thing to do but because He'll always honour a contractual agreement between parties so long as there was no force or duress involved. God will only give the terms in which both parties are to conduct themselves in such a relationship. Regarding slavery in those days, it was a mutually beneficial contract between parties and usually the bondservant would rather stay with his master and serve him because of the provision he/she would get as a result. It was sort of a business engagement that involved terms and conditions and God would work with them even in that context. Here's what He says masters should do in return:

"And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him" (Eph 6:9)
Thanks. I was going to say something about society evolving and that the principles prescribed then (in the Bible) still works today in spite of how far society has evolved....In spite of this metamorphosis, in this 21st century, some folks still see the need to have helpers - maids, drivers, cleaners, babysitters etc and the relationship between both parties is symbiotic. I believe we ought to bear this in mind. Abuse is what is condemned both then and now.

The Bible speaks of beating slaves but remember it also spoke about beating your child when he deserves it.
