Papist: Yes that quote from the Catholic catechism contradicts centuries of Church teaching from Popes, Church doctors and saints. Personally I agree with the saints and disagree with the modernist catechism on this. Besides, the catechism is not an infallible document. Neither is Nostra Aetate. Did you say the Catholic Profession of faith? The Catholic profession of faith is the Credo in Unum Deum, not the Catechism. Alright. |

Papist: What Romance? Just the modern heresy of religious indifferentism that has infected most Catholic bishops including the Pope. By the way, they act with this religious indifferentism towards Protestants as well. The Pope was recently in Sweden to commemorate Martin Luther! Here is what Catholic saints said(these are people whose teachings we must value as Catholics):
“Whoever does not embrace the Catholic Christian faith is lost, like your false prophet Muhammad.” -St. Peter Mavimenus (d. 8th century), martyr from Gaza. Response reported in the Martyriologum Romanum when he was asked to convert to Islam by a group of Muslims.
“There is also the superstition of the Ishmaelites which to this day prevails and keeps people in error, being a forerunner of the Antichrist…. From that time to the present a false prophet named Mohammed has appeared in their midst. This man, after having chanced upon the Old and New Testaments and likewise, it seems, having conversed with an Arian monk, devised his own heresy. Then, having insinuated himself into the good graces of the people by a show of seeming piety, he gave out that a certain book had been sent down to him from heaven. He had set down some ridiculous compositions in this book of his and he gave it to them as an object of veneration.” -St. John Damascene (d. 749), Syrian Arab Catholic monk and scholar. Quoted from his book On Heresies under the section On the Heresy of the Ishmaelites (in The Fathers of the Church. Vol. 37. Translated by the Catholic University of America. CUA Press. 1958. Pages 153-160.)
“We profess Christ to be truly God and your prophet to be a precursor of the Antichrist and other profane doctrine.” -Sts. Habenitus, Jeremiah, Peter, Sabinian, Walabonsus, and Wistremundus (d. 851), martyrs of Cordoba, Spain. Reported in the Memoriale Sanctorum in response to Spanish Umayyad Caliph ‘Abd Ar- Rahman II’s ministers that they convert to Islam on pain of death. “Any cult which denies the divinity of Christ, does not profess the existence of the Holy Trinity, refutes baptism, defames Christians, and derogates the priesthood, we consider to be damned.” -Sts. Aurelius, Felix, George, Liliosa, and Natalia (d. 852), martyrs of Cordoba, Spain. Reported in the Memoriale Sanctorum in response to Spanish Umayyad Caliph ‘Abd Ar-Rahman II’s ministers that they convert to Islam on pain of death.
“The Mahometan paradise, however, is only fit for beasts; for filthy sensual pleasure is all the believer has to expect there.” St. Alfonsus Liguori (d. 1787). Quoted from his book, The History of Heresies and their Refutation.
“On the other hand, those who founded sects committed to erroneous doctrines proceeded in a way that is opposite to this, the point is clear in the case of Muhammad. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected, he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth. On the contrary, Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms—which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants.” -St. Thomas Aquinas (d. 1274), Theologian and Doctor of the Church. Quoted from his De Rationibus Fidei Contra Saracenos, Graecos, et Armenos and translated from Fr. Damian Fehlner’sAquinas on Reasons for the Faith: Against the Muslims, Greeks, and Armenians (Franciscans of the Immaculate. 2002.). But, what about this stated in your catechism(be nice to correct me if this was doctored whence it was copied): According to paragraph 841 of the Catholic Profession of Faith: 841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330 http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p123a9p3.htm This sure contradicts all those men you quoted. Were they really catholics? |

Christian meditation focuses God via His Word and brings a release of man to God's Power.
Other meditations focuses on man and endeavours, by certain preternatural props , to stir up certain latent abilities whereby those mentioned aid the usage thereof in ways by no means advantageous. |

UyiIredi: But people still die because of Adam's sin. The only so-called difference Jesus makes is that they ain eternal life in death. That doesn't remove the fact that mankind was cursed to death because of Adam's mistake. Eternal life in death? This is why we say it's better to leave these things alone. You have no realization of their implication Chai ! Pathetic excuse. ok. |

Christianity Etc › Re: The Christian God Is A Moral Failure by Scholar8200(m): 4:41pm On Nov 07, 2016 |
UyiIredi: 1) Condemned all mankind to death for Adam's sin (Gen 3:17-19, Rom 5;14). This is wrong. And saves millions for Jesus' Obedience! Righteousness and Justice incorruptible that!!! 2) Killed a man for trying to steady the ark of God (2 Sam 6:7). Morally outrageous.
3) Drowned the whole earth in a flood including innocent kids and babies (Gen 7: 21-23). This makes God worse than Hitleror Mao.
4) Killed Onan for refusing to impregnate his late brother's wife (Gen 38: 9-10). This wasn't wrong.
5) Condoned slavery in the OT
6) Slaughtered innocent firstborn Egyptian children because of the actions of their king (Exo 12:29)
7) Killed Israelites for complainaning that God killed them (Num 16: 41-49)
Killed Aninias and Sapphira for lying (Acts 5:1-10). Lying is wrong but killing people for that is also wrong.
9) Sacrificed an innocent Jesus to forgive humanity (Heb 9:28). This doesn't make sense. Even humans won't sacrifice someone else to forgive a person. An omniscient God should know better.
And this list is by no means exhaustive. Typically, Christians give excuses for such obviously immoral acts. A popular one is that is he is a God of justice. However. these acts clearly are unjust and would earn scorn from such Christians if a human performed them. It just goes to show how people can justify evil under religion. Well, God is not human. |

But unfortunately u pple prefer following paul(the deceiver) rather than jesus n his teachings
Jesus: "DO NOT CALL ANYONE ON EARTH YOUR FATHER; for ONE IS YOUR FATHER, HE who is in heaven" (Matthew 23:9)
The devil 'PAUL' BLASPEMOUSLY BOASTED
"For I BECAME YOUR FATHER" (1 Corinthians 4:15)
" JESUS came to Galilee PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM " (Mark 1:14, Matt.4:23).
JESUS said " THIS GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM will be PREACHED, IN MY NAME in all the world (Matt.24:14).
'PAUL' CAME preaching, by his own admission, ANOTHER GOSPEL PROMOTING LAWLESSNESS and LICENTIOUSNESS now this post is laughable! In any case peace means different things to different people |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Angels Have Millions Of Languages? by Scholar8200(m): 5:37pm On Nov 04, 2016 |
Seun: We are told that when people speak in tongues or sing/pray in the spirit, they are speaking in the 'tongues of angels' and not human languages. However, we know that the tongues spoken by millions of spirit-filled Christians are quite unique. This implies that angels have millions of languages. This makes no sense, because it suggests that heaven is a place of confusion. If all angels are united under God's leadership, one would expect all of them to speak the same language. I can't think of any reason why God's angels would have so many languages. Can you? This wrong notion is based on hearsay and even contradicts the Bible! How did the people understand them in Acts 2:8-11 if what was spoken was language of angels? |

Christianity Etc › Re: How To Improve Your Spiritual CGPA by Scholar8200(m): 3:12pm On Nov 04, 2016 |
The best way to improve our spiritual GPA is to realise that:
The Lord values our being with Him more than our working for Him. The former will lead to true service while the latter can be reduced to a duty we perform ;
Our service, giving etc in the NT are not with rewards in mind but as a reciprocation in love to Him that gave His all to the uttermost;
The relationship between intellectual knowledge and spiritual is not always direct;
Believing is seeing and that the former must be followed by action, the latter will come along later;
The will must be the driver not the emotions. Not what you feel like but what you must;
We must bleed to bless (see Colossians 1:24) this being the secret to fruitfulness (John 12:24). True service is costly (not necessarily naira denominated).
They that will render a service that will be Eternally impactful must break their alabaster box, not because of compassion on fellow men or pity for their never - dying souls, but in awe and worship, do same as a service to the Lord. Benefit to man is a by-product.
Jesus is Lord and is worthy to be sought (duration should be ignored)
Never time prayer sections nor measure worthiness to receive answers by length of time spent; preferably dont check the time when you start. If there is an important engagement, set the alarm to that period and start of. |

FriendChoice: We don't insult Jesus don't lie to us. It is not only an insult but blasphemy when you say He is just one of the prophets when the greatest prophet -John the Baptist- confessed that he was not worthy to loose Jesus' sandals! This is just one let alone all the vitriolic words you and your folks haul against Him! Islam is the only non Christian faith that made it an article of faith to Believe in Jesus as God's Messenger. No Muslim is Muslim if he those not believe in Jesus. To insult Jesus in Islam is blasphemy that can take someone out of Islam. If that is the reason u need Christian section, then it's invalid reason. I did not request for a Christian section either! My point is, the quarantine is bad publicity for practitioners of a religion of peace! Who is threatening him, where, when? Do your research. |

FriendChoice: No Muslim wount do that. You enjoyed insulting Islam just like that. And seu.n a non Muslim decided to regulate it. So no Muslim will clamour re-integration. If that was the reason, then he would have created a Christian thread since you also insult and denigrate Christ too. However, he created that sub-section because of the threat to his life hence accentuating the general notion that Islam promotes violence. If that notion is not true, then muslims should have realized that being quarantined is not a plus but minus. |

Or are you saying paul was saying its okay to sin at home but not in the church? The issue here is incomparable with something that must be done in private eg bathing. Jude's description of such folks show their sinfulness and how they defile the Church by their presence hence calling them spots. It was better they stayed away, this is the uniform position of Paul and Jude. |
