First, neither the passage nor the website links the movement of the sun to day and night. Secondly, I believe the implication of the passage you quoted implies that there was a halt in the entire solar system (if we would be logical): since both the sun and moon stood still. Hence I am sure the earth too was involved since it's part of the solar system.

Prayer is more than asking God for things or seeking solutions to problems. This perception is what has made and is making many sceptics in a materialistic, grab-all-you-can-get age. The passage in Acts said he fell meaning he was at an elevated point from whence the falling took place.

I believe a reference to the root word in the language concerned is not a private interpretation. And the fact that the discussion in Acts 1:18 and the setting described by the speaker, occurred after the event referenced in Matthew goes further to buttress my point.

For a translation that took place in 1611, the failure to transliterate is pardonable. And considering the fact that the one in question would have been on the tree for a while (Friday - Sunday), the posture and increased weight due to bloating will lead to an occurrence described by the Inspired writers.

Other samples of a similar occurence can be found in Ezekiel 8 and Ezekiel 36 (valley of dry bones). Prolonged fasting sans daily breaking (for those who know) exposes one to the spiritual realm easily where visions are the norm.(the word guides believers in recognising the source of those visions). A biblical study on visions will reveal that most visions suggest a course of action.
