PoliticsRe: Why Yourbas Must Demand Oduduwa Republic – Fani-kayode by scholes0(m):
Ikenna0b:
If you guys have been to Benin republic especially the parts where Yorubas reside in that country despite their City being used as the capital of that country, you'll know exactly why Yorubas are terrified of oduduwa republic. Just like the North is very much aware that without Nigeria, they ain't shit, the Afonjas are also aware of it too about themselves. The only difference is the North is humble enough to admit it while Afinjas stays creating propaganda left and right to uplift their damaged egos. Hell I always always urge people to visit Benin republic if you truly what to see the capability of Afonjas without free oil from Niger delta. When I visited Porto-Novo, I sat in my hotel some days wondering how come the people that repeatedly claimed to have been the ones that developed Lagos, not the FG and others how come they did not do the same for Porto Novo despite Porto Novo had similar environment like Lagos. Honestly, reminded me of the images of Ibadan people use on this forum to mock them. The only difference is Porto Novo had few good building in between the brown roof dumpy looking buildings. Honestly, the Afonjas would never seek sovereignty. Quote me on that.
mumu comparison.

Porto novo although the capital of Benin is only a town of importance ON PAPER. It is like any other town in Benin Republic. The real capital of Benin is Cotonou. Even Bohicon and Calavi get more importat projects and infrastructure than porto Novo, that is to tell you how unimportant the town is.
Besides, as small as Benin is, how many Nigerian towns are better than Cotonou in terms of overall development? Residents of Cotonou enjoy so many things I can't list here, that your average Nigerian Aba or Asaba resident can never dream of till 2120, but yes, continue being the worm that you are.

What is even your point exactly? that two seperate countries historically under two different colonial systems, one British and one French which has led to a great difference in terms of ideology and imperial legacies between Yoruba Nigerians and Yoruba Beninese people should have the same outlook? So If Igboland were to be an independent former French colony, would it be better than Congo today ? Afterall, in every other single aspect I can absolutely compare Igbos and Congolese people. Why are Ewes in Togo not as Developed as the Ewes in Ghana? Oil money and having igbo mumus for neighbours too, I guess?.

This is how some of you Nairalanders think you are smart, but end up writing things in the range of a -10 I.Q, and of course your fellow slowpokes would follow you to "like" such comments, displaying their own stupidity in the process.

Awon Ode.

Nollywood pervases and corrupts everything it lays its hands on.

Nollywood itself is a corruption of better things that existed before it. Cheap ass industry with 0 sophistication.
There is a new generation of movie makers both in Nigeria and the Yoruba diaspora that are beginning to show the beautiful phenomenon that is Yoruba religioon (Orisa-Ifa / Isese), from home videos to animations and cartoons for kids and adults to video games to comics.

The intricacies of Yoruba philosophy are very beautiful and "fanimorous grin" once you know the details trust me.

Igalas are a Chapter of Yorubas that have been greatly influenced by Igbos by virtue of a shared border in the south (Southern Igalas), and by some middle belt tribes in the Northern areas (Core Igalas). My final hypothesis. like seriously I understood the song 100%

I mean Yoruba soups though Ok, dont thrill me like SE or SS soups.

apart from Edika Ikong or afang(which taste far better when patiently prepared the efik way), have you tasted ekpakukwo, afia efere, patiently prepared banga soup or ogwo soup, or Bini groundnut soup, or rivers native soup or oha, ofe akwukwo n ofe nsala that people are judging by look Instead actually tasting it. Apart from soups they have good food too.

Like I said maybe I've not yet seen the best of Yoruba foods, Ive only eaten ofada rice, ewedu, efo riro, gbegiri, Okro and stew.

I think most of the food you are calling from ondo state are foods of the ijaw people in that state
Ekpankukwo is simply seafood added to a vegetable stew wrapping grated cocoyam(mostly periwinkles) it is sweet no doubt, so yeah I have eaten it, I have eaten Owo, groundnut soup and the rest. They are just OKAY not too good. but then maybe that is just me, because I have a bias for soups made from leafy vegetables.
Besides I haven't mentioned any soups from Ondo state here like Marugbo, so I wonder where you are getting the assertion in your last statement from, lol SS people overestimate the presence of Ijaws in Ondo state. Do you know that ijaws only have slightly more than half of one local government in Ondo state? and that LG isn't exactly one of most populated ones. Ese Odo is mixed Ijaw apoi, Ijaw Arogbo and Yoruba. You can live in Akure, Ondo state for 10 years and not see an Ijaw person so I wonder how they would manage to influence what the people there eat with their minuscule presence.

I know the Yoruba scholar in you will jump up at anything that goes against your opinion.

“Which tribe in Nigeria has the best soups?”

Best in this context is blatantly subjective. You’re here having a go at anyone who doesn’t think Yoruba soups are the best and that’s just it innit. It’s all opinion. And opinions don’t need to be quantified or given a critical analysis just because it’s not what you want to hear.
I am not having a go at everybody, I am having a GO at YOU for actually bringing Yoruba INTO the discussion between SE and SS cuisine supremacy battle.
You mentioned swallow specifically, and I quoted you on it, but of course you are not giving any answers. You think I don't know Igbo soups well enough to pass my own judgements like you claim to know all Yoruba soups?

You only claim to.

Like I said it’s Ondo and Ekiti state people that have good soups. Notice I’m not talking about any old food but swallow. I just don’t think they’re a strong point of people further west than Ondo.
And how many types of Swallow do Igbos have as a whole for it to be their "strong point" ?

Yoruba soups can’t compete with eastern and south-south soups and you look dumb for trying to deny it. It’s common knowledge.

Sorry if you don’t want to hear the obvious truth.
Which truth?

Visit authentic Yoruba villages in my state and let them cook good food for you.

What most igbos don't realize that the so called signature meals in bukas or parties are just quick fixes made either for their simplicity, economic feasibility, maneuverability or ability to keep/last.
Its like eating ramen or noodle in Beijing as an expatriate there and you start complaing that Chinese cuisine is shit because that is what your scope of their food is LIMITED to. You can find good food all over Nigeria.... Even people who complain they hausas have got "no food" will still rob a bank just to buy kilishi or Suya.

If I start to mention the names of traditional soups, vegetables and stews in Yoruba, I wonder how many he will be able to recognize. He keeps posting pictures of Ewedu and Gbegiri like it is the only Yoruba soup in the world. That Ayamashe you just mentioned, he knows nothing about it, lol.

Don't even start me on Yoruba appetizers and snacks from Asun to Gizdodo to dundun to Ipekere to Ojojo. Igbo appetizers are forest grubs and millepedes.... If you know the kind of things these people eat in their villages, you will take to your heels and NEVER look back.

PoliticsRe: FG To Build 94 Ranches In 10 States by scholes0(m): 3:02pm On Jun 20, 2018
The thing is that the ranches will NOT stop herdsmen atttacks across the country.

How many Fulanis do they want to put inside 94 ranches, Many whom are not even from Nigeria? I know of Fulanis from as far away as Burkina faso living in Oyo state, Kwara state etc. There is this small town in Kwara (Baruten LG) called chikanda filled with foreigners from Mali calling themselves Nigerian Fulani. Anyone who doubts me should go check it out.

The attacks will continue unabated, and people's cultural lands will be gone for good! the average Fulani family has like 10 children in it, in a few years each child will become a gainaako with his own cattle herd! For how long will they continue to stay in the same designated ranches before they "burst out" into the nearby lands and violently take over amid blood and death like it is in their habit to?

The future of West Africa as a whole is indeed bleak with these particular people around. Ask around, they are having problems with settled communities in EVERY SINGLE country in West Africa.

Nowhere is “Headquarters” of anywhere since Yoruba culture in the Americas isn’t restricted to one place and is present in different locations where it evolved independently of one another into different beautiful cultures and practices.

It is a bit nonsensical to declare one place as the “capital” for other places that went through the same experience.
