Just like X fire said, it sometimes depend on luck.

I submitted my cv in 2009 but got called for test early this year...4 whole years.

I was on vacation then so had tym to read well.....luck no 1.

The newspaper I bought on my way from lag to abuja for the interview talked about the effect of oil bunkering on current oil production( the pet minister's pix, deziani was there).
In the interview I was asked the name of the pet minister, number of barrels we produce and reason for the drop......luck no 2.

I was the only igbo guy among the 12 guys who passed the 145 man test....one of the interviewer happened to be an igbo woman .....luck no 3.

When God says it's your time, there's nothing anybody can do about it.
However you need to get yourself ready.
Without my 2.1 in accounting plus ACA, I wouldn't have been called in the first place.
Just like Jarus said, no professional qualification no invitation for a finance job. At least I know that about the big 5( chevron, shell, exonmobil, Agip and Total).

@OP, you have a job now with one of the big 4 accounting firms...dat is a plus for you. 3 or 4years work experience there will position you very well, but please try ICAN or ACCA in addition.

Several years back, The late Chuba Okadigbo as a growing politician once insulted The Late Nnamdi Azikiwe(an elder). In response, Zik told him that he would grow to be a great man in Nigeria, but will die cheaply.
We all know how great and rugged Okadigbo turned out, but he died frm d smell of tear gas used to disperse people.

My uncle once left a lady he dated for years to marry another lady who converted him to 'born again'. The former lady got very sick and on her death bed, she said my uncle won't bear fruits.
My uncle later died 17yrs later without a child.

I so much loved oceanic bank back as an under graduate......can't remember if it was thought, wish or dream, but I ended up working with the bank for 2years b4 it crashed.

Hank anuku was by best Nigeria movie star some 7 8 years ago(when he was still ok), dreamt we became friends.
Last year, he moved to my street and I saw him everyother day. We once sat opposite each other drinking beer in a bar on my street, but I said nothing to him.( d kolo don start den).

Lastly, I dreamt so much of working with an oil firm cos while in banking, I was always posting chevron and some other small oil firms staff salaries and I always wondered when I would get there.
I finally left Banking 3months ago and currently work with an Oil Exploration firm.

Maybe I should not add this one....on my ican induction ceremony in MAY 2010, my mum refused snapping a personal pix and I looked @ her and in my mind I said, 'is she scared she would die or what' till date, I don't know why that thought came to me.....she passed on Jan 16th 2011 after a brief illness. RIP Mum.
