That's why I don't blame Enrique for still using him as RB even when we have 3 RBs (Alves, Vidal and Adriano). He is just trying all means to give him more minutes as a reward for his hard work and to encourage other players to work hard!
True talk!

He get speed no be small. I am sure he'll still end up in Barca if he continues in his fine form. After all, he's our product.

He got his chance to impress during pre-season, and he failed to impress!
Oya they gave him and Vermaelen chance to play against Athletic Bilbao during Super cup, they both played woefully! Vermaelen redeemed himself by having a run of good games and even got MOTM in one game like that! But Batra still remained where he was!

Sergi Roberto started impressing right from pre-season, if not, na him and masip go always dey among the audience when other players are on the pitch or substitutes bench! gringrin
You have said it all. Sergi, having been bashed by so many on this forum, got his chance and made judicious use of it. He's now our Mr Utility.

Just so you know... Mathieu is the fastest Barça player currently. Yeah, you got that right, fastest.

Alba has better acceleration, but Mathieu has better speed. And of course if you did physics you would know that ultimately speed is better. So, if you talk about a short distance run, then Alba would appear faster, but when it comes to long distance thingy, then Mathieu takes the baton.

As for Bartra, he is not fast. He may be a bit faster than Piqué, but not Mascherano. Aside Mathieu, our fastest CB is Mascherano.

So as far as our defence and team is concerned, Mathieu, Alba and Aleix Vidal are the fastest.
That's exactly what happened between Alba and Bellerin in the second leg. Fear catch me as Alba was left behind.
You are just right about speed and acceleration.

Pako Ayestaran (53) has been appointed as new coach of Valencia, replacing Neville, who was the 9th Liga coach to leave this season

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by sebod(m):

I always subscribe to looking at players' performances through a prism.

But when that view becomes subjective to one or certain individuals alone, then one could deduce authoritatively that such a fellow is being beclouded by hate for that player.

It's no news I almost asked for Alves' head for 2 seasons prior to last, and even at the first half of last season. I am very critical when analysing players. It's also no news how I was very critical of Piqué. Johnpaul88 would attest to this. JP, since Piqué improved have you read anywhere I scolded him? That doesn't mean he doesn't sell matches every once in a while, but he has been great for the most part since he was benched by Enrique last season.

But to come up and be critical without being objective is not something I will ever subscribe to. At one point or the other I have shown my discontent with certain players. Heck, I did so 2 seasons ago with Messi even. And as much as I am critical about one's misdemeanours, I am always looking out for outstanding performances from same. Even when I was very critical about Piqué's performances, I was also acknowledging his good showings then.

If anyone would be so critical of Busi and not acknowledge that he had a masterclass against Arsenal at the Emirates, I can say with full conviction that such an individual is a full time hater.

Well, I don't like to be drawn to arguments like this.
Even in those days, those that called for Messi's sale were objective in their defence.

Same way I dropped the argument when he called those not in support of his claim un intelligent. We cannot always share same view, but we can always respect others' view by objective counter-opinion rather than resorting to derogatory words to prove a point.

For the records, I don't do Spain when it comes to international footie. I'm a full-time Brazilian fan for life! I was, I am and I will always be a fan of the Brazil NT.

But to answer your question; it doesn't matter. At least in your lifetime they have won something. What has England won in your lifetime?

When was the last time they won the World Cup? Decades ago.

When was the last time they won the Olympic Gold Medal for Men's football? Almost a hundred years ago.

When was the last time they won the Euros? Never! cheesy

Bruv, they have nothing to write home about.tongue
At least Spain benefited from the brilliance of Xavi and Iniesta when they emerged. You should have asked him why England failed to benefit from the brilliance of Lampard, Gerard, Beckam, Rooney and co in their lifetime.

Let's not blow things out of proportion?

Before Mathieu.. Deportivo LA Coruna 0-2 Barcelona
After Mathieu... Deportivo LA Coruna 2-2 Barcelona

Before Mathieu.. Villarreal 0-2 Barcelona
After Mathieu.. Villareal 2-2 Barcelona

These are evidences that I am not blowing anything out of proportion...Mathieu at the LB position is a disaster.
If I can recollect well, he did not play as LB in the match against Villareal.
Let's just hope Alba is fit come saturday and still pray he bring his A game to the pitch. He too has been under performing recently.

And from what I envision, he ain't gonna add much going forward.
If he eventually starts from LB, I wouldn't mind him sitting back and leave Neymar alone to face whoever is placed before him. He should just mind the defence and leave the attack for MSN to handle. Bale/CR7 would wanna prove a point from that flank if left unattended to.
Madrid are not threat to us at this point, we will add more to their woes. All I want is just a clean sheet day.

I'll rather have Mathieu than Alba in my defense line against Madrid to thwart the aerial threat of Ronaldo and to be an aerial threat against Madrid just like what happened last season.

This season, he came on for Mascherano in the 27th minute and helped the team kept a clean sheet. Yes he's prone to errors, but he always deliver when faced against Madrid.
You have a point bro. I'm only worried about his speed and recovery against Bale if played from LB spot. He seems more comfortable playing from CB spot.

Terry is a great overall. Far greater than Boateng. However, Terry's performances against Barca is less than convincing. About 70% of our goals conceded by Chelsea have been Terry's fault.

The argument is not my business but come on, Messi would do that to anyone. And for sinizia who said Terry shut Messi all the time they played against eachother, you should know the entire team shut Messi and not Terry.

Tell me who will go round a spiolt train (10 men in 2 lines) without being tripped by someone or without someone dispossessing you?

This is not to discredit Terry as he was great IMO but using such as a yardstick isn't fair.

The first time I encountered this dumb Boateng-over-Terry comparison, I never used Messi-Boateng dribble to base my judgment. I can't coz I can't even count the number of defenders Messi has disgraced. I also didn't bring it up yesterday, I only concurred. My issue is not that Boateng is wack. I know when to drop rivalry and acknowledge a good player. Boateng is definitely among the top CBs presently. If Man Utd would get him without paying over the tops, I'll be happy. Smalling needs a good partnership like him. My angst is insulting Terry and our collective intelligence by rating Boateng over Terry. He didn't even use defenders like Ramos, Nesta, Cannavaro, etc., it's Boateng. WTF is Boateng to be better than Terry coz he won the WC/beasted a WC final? You know a reason is beyond myopic when "beasting" a WC final is the ONLY criteria to rate a player over the other.

Boateng beasted and won a WC final, but who in his senses will rate him above Maldini that won and beasted none?

Rivaldo beasted and won a WC final. Even Rivaldo will slap anyone that rates him over Ferenc Puskas. It's a taboo to try such in football.

Goetze is the man of the match in a WC final, Villa was among the backbone of Spain's WC victory, can any sane human rate them above the LEGENDARY EUSEBIO? They are not even in his level!! Fúck the WC!!

Just to win an argument, someone's line of reasoning is making Boateng better than Maldini. If this kind of madness is allowed to fester on this section, one day someone will rate Eto'o over Ronaldo of Brazil. undecided
You have said it all and I must give it to you.
As per the emboldened, guys dey wey go argue am sir grin
