[quote author=richcasey post=44968091]I thought the story was good but what was even better was the execution.
Continuity was excellent and the transitioning exquisite.
I also loved the audio/soundtrack as it weaved seamlessly with the story. I imagine how much effort went into this on the part of the actors, director, writer, and the entire crew and I can't resist saying a prayer for you all for creating this beauty of a movie.
Kudos y'all!

Nice observation and contribution dear brother.

in addition to your comment, I learnt many other important lessons;

>>YOU CANNOT BE RIGHT ALL THE TIME. No matter how intelligent you are, there comes a time when you will be wrong while others are right. Just accept your fallibility and move on. Rancho asked why the scientist spent millions to invent a pen while they can use pencil in the space. But he forgot that there is zero gravity in the space which a broken tip of a pencil would damage.

>>NO MATTER WHAT, NEVER QUIT. Sometimes, we quit because we couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Had we exercised little patience, we could have succeeded. Joy Lobo quited when he failed to meet the submission deadline for his project not knowing someone is already watching what transpired between him and virus and ready to help out. Be Patient
Thank you sir. Nice input from you as well.

This movie would have been perfect of not for the damn dancing interludes. Please why do Indians do that thing?
They do the damn dancing interludes because it's a strong part of their culture and they try their best to project their culture. Nollywood should take a cue from that and stop failing terribly at imitating Hollywood.
TV/MoviesRe: 3 Idiots: Have You Seen The Movie? Please, Share Your Lessons! by seiraries:
Great post OP dearpreye,

Learnt a lot of lessons from this movie which I'll try to summarise:
>> Knowledge is useless... without application. Rancho showed that over and over again. Knowledge is gleaning information from texts and other sources. Wisdom is in applying it to real life.

>> If you really desire to succeed, invest in people. This is not by giving them money alone. Give them your care attention, wisdom etc. Rancho invested in everyone around him even Virus his teacher!

>> Success does not guarantee lasting happiness. When you succeed, you're happy for a while, then you're chasing the next best thing. Chatur kept chasing the best grades but all he got were little doses of happiness. Lasting happiness can only be got when you help people.

>> Think out of the box in all situations. There's more than one way of getting into a house. If you cannot use the front door, find the backdoor. Rancho demonstrated this many times. A typical example is how he got centimeter into schools.

>> Failure should not be treated as a leper but as valuable learning experiences. Most of what we know today was through someone's failure or mistake.
Raju's many failures later redefined him. He got his epiphany after his failed suicide.

>> Lies catch up to you someday and having all the wealth in the world does not make you invincible. All the money in the world cannot buy a brilliant mind. The one thing even a slave can own is his/her mind.
Case in point is the fake Rancho who eventually took Rancho's ICE certificate.

There are many more that have been well elucidated already especially the value of true friendship.

BTW, have any of you seen RISHTEY? It's an old, old Indie movie as well but will it make you cry? Will it teach you lessons? And will it make you a better person?
YOU BET!

Edit: India has the highest student suicide rates in the world and 3 Idiots was/is a perfect tool to showcase the problem and proffer solutions to the burgeoning problem.
Nollywood again take a cue.

Thanks but can I apply for a visa with the passport now. The validity is more than the 30day requirement I saw on the website. It expires in June and I am travelling in March
Sure, you can. But if there's no rush I'd suggest you do the renewal/re-issue.

I have about 3 month validity on my passport from the end date of intended travel?

Do i need to renew?

The requirement says 1 month abut someone mentions 6 months on here.

Thanks.
You can go ahead and 'renew'. 6 months is the minimum time for a passport re-issue (Nigeria).

Hello house,

Please, I'm making this enquiry on behalf of an elderly relative who has a multiple entry (visit) visa into SA. The event she's going for is for a week but she plans to stay back for an additional week to buy stuff before returning. My question is if she books a return ticket covering 2 weeks instead of one, will this be an issue with immigration?

Btw, Ogathetop2 thanks for your post. It really helped when I processed her application.

Good morning guys, pls i'm abt 2 submit my application online, I didn't see any section for me to upload additional documents like Police Clearance Certificate, Office ID, Letter of Introduction from employer, pls can anyone explain how i'll go about this. Thank you.
All additional documents should be under "Letter of Explanation" section. Police Clearance Certificates are seldom used for online applications but if you wish, it can be added to yours.

Hello House,

Please l urgently need your assistance,My husband and 1 concurrently applied for a study permit (Meng Computer and electrical engineering,Queens University,Ontario) and Open work permit for me. The program commenced on the 4th of January but he couldn't resume because our applications is yet to be finalized according to the CIC our application could not be finalized without my e medical follow up chest x tray result (nothing was found, thank God) which was not sent to the appropriate quarters until 6th of January . We contacted Queens Uni. for deferment but it was declined yesterday, he was told to reapply. Will the embassy grant us the study permit based on the letter of admission that was submitted with the application (which the resumption date has passed) or is there a need to send a new admission letter to the embassy since he has reapply for admission for september? Thanks
I don't think you need to be apprehensive about this. CIC will continue to work on your applications based on the documents you both submitted. If there's need for additional documents they'll be sure to request from you.

Hi guys, quick question. The land I intend to use as personal asset is inherited frm my parent. Pls How do I prove its mine since the land docs is nt in my name?
If the parent (owner of property) is alive you will need evidence that the property has been transferred to you. A will is the most common document to prove this and can easily be gotten if parent is alive and willing to transfer the property.
If deceased, and the parent died intestate (without a will), you'll need to follow a long process involving the probate court to transfer the property. It's a long process and obviously beats the objective in focus here.
There's such a document as an "affidavit of heirship" however, which a lawyer can help you prepare provided there are no contending parties to the property in question and a significant 'actor' (mother, father or relevant family) is willing to depose to the affidavit and establish your claim to the property.
Kindly consult a lawyer for more assistance.

P.S- It should be notarised by a Commissioner for Oaths at a Court and not a Notary public.

I am married with a child and in late 30s.

What do you suggest?
Good. You have strong home ties.
I advise that you still use a sponsor. If your spouse is employed, show proof of this and also evidence that she (if she's female) and your child will be well-funded in your absence.
That should be okay.

Hello @ seiraries

Please need your advice on how to go about this in applying for my study permit in canada. Am a graduate of Mechanical Eng 2008, started working as an Engineer in 2010 with a third party contractor company in Total nig Ltd but was neva given appointment letter on my resumption, guess company was tryin to keep us blind from our real salary, ma salary was 60k, left the company after 4yrs and got another job with another company dat paid me 180k in 2014 but got laid off in 2015 due to oil price issue..want to travel to study in canada with fanshawe college in pratical element of mech Engr and got my uncle to sponsor...don't know how to go about to convince the VO considering all I stated above.

Thanks so much will do appreciate your contributions
IMO, you need to add a detailed CV to your application to project your employment history 2010-2015.
Add documents to prove your last employment.
Include a dynamite SOP to your application which should more than anything show you haven't been idle after your last employment (could be a volunteer activity/service) and disprove any suspicion in the mind of any VO your application is primarily a pretext to emigrate. It may sound difficult but it's not impossible.
The VOs perception is basically dependent on documents you present and the manner in which they are presented, ceteris paribus. Tell a good story.
You can study a peculiar application for @thesoj brother that was successful here, here, and here.

Hope it helps.

P.S- more than anything, your finances, sponsor's and home ties (includes personal assets) have to be solid. Leave no stone unturned.

I will be paying my one year school fees in full [pgd]
Then the funds for accommodation and miscellaneous expenses - about $10,000 [Canadian dollars] will be in the FD. The FD is mine and not that of sponsors.
I still plan to add my savings account details which hovers around N300k.

Do i need to add any financial documents from a sponsor again?
I understand the situation better now. Thanks for clarifying. My take is this:
If you're unmarried, without kids, and relatively young (under 30), use a sponsor. This won't necessarily be for financial reasons since you have that covered but it will serve to buttress your home ties.

Hello @seiraries please i want you to help me and explain this, i was denied based on the length of the proposed stay in Canada and purpose of visit. i have read your write up on this as a means of refusal, i am a degree holder in Nursing science, a registered nurse and midwife and i have paid my tuition fees complete and i did wrote on my SOP while i need to change or go for another area of specialty in Nursing because i am going for an area of specialty in Nursing again and it is called Enhanced Nursing practice- clinical and critical care which is not done in any Nigeria university or college. please i need your advice and the program is a year program.....please others gurus in the house do attend to this with an explaination
I'd like to believe your plan is to reapply and I suggest you engage threadites who are already in the system or know more about nursing like @IyaEjima, @aflyingbird, and @lollipop25 (also other distinguished members of the thread) for detailed analysis before reapplying. I have limited knowledge about nursing but my layman view is that of course you can choose to seek further knowledge in a new speciality despite having a prior degree in nursing.
I think it boils down to making the VO see your point.

This is wonderful.
You have given me a more elaborate reason why all my application was denied.

I hope using a fixed deposit account bearing the sum total amount that will take care of my feeding and board will not be a bad idea.
My new course is a year, school fees to be paid in full.
If you mean using a personal FD in conjunction with your sponsor's account which normally should cover tuition, accommodation, and miscellaneous expenses, yes. It's not a bad idea.
If it's a sponsor's FD and it covers tuition, room/board, and miscellaneous expenses for a year, it's okay as well.
If it's otherwise, please elaborate.

On a 2nd thought as to why the high rate of denials most recently, in addition to the quota system which I feel also applies, I have a strong feeling that the recent CBN policies on Forex which have limited the availability of funds to Nigerian students in diaspora also have roles to play here. This is because these guys know that the millions in your naija account might not be available for you to use offshore as there are very limited means of exchange.

To that effect, anyone that has a sponsor offshore or who has a good balance in his/her domiciliary account might stand a better chance of getting a positive response.

What do you guys feelhuh
I feel you are a strong conspiracy theorist...Just kidding. grin
Your theory may hold some water yes but I feel the spate of denials points mostly to a quota "quartering" of applicants.
I'm basing this on successful applicants who applied at the same time and had similar profiles with those denied i.e no ties (financial or otherwise) to Canada.
We keep learning anyway.

HI everyone
I really don't know what's happening with Canada student visa.. the denial rate is alarming 3 of my friends were denied after submitting a strong application with all fees paid and a robust bank account, good travling histories, sponsor are parents, programs intended are related to undergraduate course, and I also noticed from the intake of international students I mentored at school for January intake Nigerians weren't much unlike the previous years should we be concerned? We used to be 3rd highest behind Asians and Indians in class population
Indeed. Can we assume the 'Syrian' wave (Canada admitted 2,500 Syrians refugees into the country last year) is having a ripple effect on student migrants?

Settle your mind sir. There's a first time for everyone and VOs know this.
You can direct your energy towards working on proving or providing evidence of solid home ties in your country of residence. Also, explain why you will be returning after your studies if you will be using an SOP.
A lot of people have gotten and keep getting their TRVs without prior travel history on this thread. (and that's just those we know of).

Thanks for the response and advice, I really appreciate. For SAIT, I applied for Bachelor in Applied Technology, Petroleum Engineering. Is this okay, knowing I already hold a masters degree in Oil and Gas Management?
The most pressing concern is that a bachelors is lower than a masters degree. Yet, I think the former is more 'technical' than the latter (masters in oil/gas) and you may be able to spin it with a convincing SOP but this is purely my personal view. Kindly, request further advice from people in your field.

Good day pals,

I hold B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in 2011 & 2013 respectively. I applied to SAIT and Lambton College both for fall 2016 for advanced diploma, though I'm yet to get a response, hence, I'd like senior men in the house to put me through pertaining the following;
1. What documents would I be needing for visa application?
Kindly follow this link to get a general idea.

2. Apparently, after my M.Sc, I've been managing my dad's school and projects based on the naija job situation. How do I explain this gap at the embassy?
It's not a gap. Simply state what you've been doing (school management) with evidence to back your claims i.e photos, pay stubs, and other relevant documents.

3. Can the medicals be done at any hospital and upfront?
No. Please find CIC approved clinics
here

PS- If it isn't too late I'd advise that you secure admission for at least a PGC since you have a first degree and masters. Explaining why you're going for an advanced diploma after masters might be near impossible.

Please you need to add the following documents
1. Add affidavit of sponsorship for your sponsor
2. Affidavit of fact or return for youyrself
3. Police clearance report
4. Birth certificate for all your family member included in the family information form. Ensure u use national population commission birth certificate.
5. If u have old passport please add it
6. Your sponsor should also get a reference letter from his company stating is position at the company, annual earning and gross earning, and when he was employed
7. U also have to get a reference letter from your employer stating your position, job description, annual earning and gross earning
8. Add at least three months payslip for your self and also your sponsor.
9. Get reference letter from your bank and your sponsor bank
10. Add d data page of your sponsor international passport and also birth certificate preferably national population certificate of birth
11. If u can get a study leave letter from your company add it biko
12. Please the landed property document you will add should be either in your name or your sponsors name so please take out your father's land document if it is not in your name
Or better still u can do a certificate of ownership on the land stating it as an inherited property
Thank you so much Yungbill. I really do appreciate your help.
I actually added everything you mentioned here or their equivalent.
Only documents I omitted was affidavit of return (which I mentioned earlier I would add), study leave (my job is contract based therefore study leave or promise of future employment are out of it); I don't have an old passport, the property is an apartment and the process to transfer ownership takes years (discussed with a lawyer).
Thanks once again for your assistance. Your ideas have been helpful. I will give it my best shot once again.
