[quote author=ArmaniUhuru post=114345652]It’s a federal university teaching hospital, and the federal government cannot provide 24 hours power supply in Neonatal and other ICU departments? What about provision of solar power? What about UPS that could sustain those infants until power is restored? E no go better for buhari and the APC. [/quote Leave the federal government out of this . What does the hospital do with it's infernally generated revenue? The same hospital that owed interns over eight months salary and during the covid era this same hospital under a thieving management stole 959 million naira that was given to it to establish a molecular lab and isolation centre. British gas prices have risen after Vladimir Putin declared today that Russia will only accept roubles as payment from 'unfriendly' countries in retaliation for sanctions imposed over his invasion of Ukraine. 'Russia will continue, of course, to supply natural gas in accordance with volumes and prices... fixed in previously concluded contracts,' Putin said, adding that sanctions had 'destroyed Moscow's trust'. 'The changes will only affect the currency of payment, which will be changed to Russian roubles' for a list of countries, corresponding to those that have imposed sanctions. Wholesale gas prices in the UK rose following the announcement, with the British price for day-ahead delivery jumping by 18 per cent to 259.50 pence per therm by 13:54 GMT, while the winter 2022 price rose by 11 per cent to 264.01 p/therm. Putin said the government and central bank had one week to come up with a solution on how to move these operations to the Russian currency and that gas giant Gazprom would be ordered to make the corresponding changes to gas contracts. Contractual changes may mean European customers have to renegotiate their agreements, which are mostly in euros, possibly leading to supply disruptions as talks take place. But with a host of European countries still dependent on Moscow for most of their gas and oil supplies, disruptions would push up prices and deepen the continent-wide energy crisis. The move is also expected to boost the Russian currency which fell to a record low of 120 to the dollar this month following the invasion of Ukraine, despite usually trading around 80 to the dollar. The list of 'unfriendly' countries includes the United States, European Union member states, Britain, Japan, Canada, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Ukraine. Among other things, deals with companies and individuals from those countries have to be approved by a government commission. Vladimir Putin has declared that Russia will only accept roubles as payment for gas from 'unfriendly' countries in retaliation for sanctions imposed over his invasion of Ukraine A host of European countries are still dependent on Moscow for most of their gas and oil supplies (pictured, a plant in Tartarstan, Russia). Russian gas accounts for some 40 per cent of Europe's total gas consumption Putin, speaking in a televised address on Wednesday, said Russia needs to stop using 'compromised currencies'. 'It's pretty clear that it makes no sense for us to supply our goods to the European Union, to the US and receive payments in dollars, euros, other currencies,' he said. According to Gazprom, 58 per cent of its sales of natural gas to Europe and other countries as of January 27 were settled in euros. US dollars accounted for about 39 per cent of gross sales and sterling around three per cent. Russian gas accounts for some 40 per cent of Europe's total gas consumption. 'An understandable and transparent procedure of making payments should be created for [all foreign buyers], including acquiring Russian roubles on our domestic currency market,' Putin said. British and Dutch wholesale gas prices leapt on Wednesday following the announcement, while the European Union proposed legislation on minimum gas storage levels. In the Dutch gas market, the front-month contract was 15 per cent higher at 114.00 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) while the Q2 price jumped by 16 per cent to 113.65 euros/MWh. Separately, the European Commission proposed legislation requiring EU countries to fill their gas storage to at least 90 per cent by November 1 each year from 2023, and 80 per cent this year. That move will need approval from EU countries and the European Parliament and traders said the target will be tough to meet even in periods when demand is lower. In the European carbon market, the benchmark contract was 3.4 per cent lower at 77.90 euros a tonne. European countries' dependence on Russian gas and other exports has been thrown into the spotlight since Russia sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on February 24. Ukrainian forces have mounted stiff resistance to Russia's actions and the West has imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia in an effort to force it to withdraw its forces. Meanwhile the Russian rouble briefly leapt to a three-week high past 95 against the dollar on Wednesday in Moscow, before settling close to 100, after Putin's announcement. By 13:13 GMT, the rouble was 3.4 per cent stronger against the dollar at 100.02, earlier clipping 94.9875, its strongest since March 2. It had gained 3.5 per cent to trade at 110.50 versus the euro. The rouble had stabilised near 105 to the dollar in recent sessions after falling to a record low of 120 in Moscow this month and even further on the interbank market to 150. Before that, the rouble traded at about 80 to the dollar. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10644173/Putin-declares-Russia-accept-roubles-payment-gas-unfriendly-countries.html?ito=whatsapp_share_article-bottom |

With outrage swelling around Edo State over the horrendous video of some youths attacking an elderly man and youths alleged to be supporters of Chief Dan Orbih, the snational vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governor Godwin Obaseki has ordered a swift investigation and prosecution of the attackers. The government in a statement made available to GreenWhiteGreen GWG confirmed that the incident took place in Edo State given that the language spoken by the youths was indigenous to the state. GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the video showed some youths harassing some individuals including a very elderly man because of their political inclinations towards Orbih. GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Orbih who was Obaseki’s campaign manager in the 2020 governorship election had lately become the object of political attack by elements around Governor Obaseki because of his alleged stance on upholding the structure of the PDP in the state. Governor Obaseki had sought moves to amend the PDP structure in the state with a directive to PDP officers to resign their party positions towards allowing supporters who came with the governor from the All Progressives Congress, APC to be accommodated. Orbih and his supporters who dominate the PDP structure were said not to have been too impressed with the intentions of the governor. The majority of PDP officials have turned down the offer. In the video which has since gone viral, party activists in an area in Edo North were seen being tortured for allegedly toeing the injunctions of Orbih. Denouncing and dissociating the Edo Government from the video, the chief of staff to the governor, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha in a statement said: The attention of the Edo State Government has been drawn to a social media video in which some young men wielding machetes and cudgels were recorded assaulting an elderly man and some young people within the State The state government strongly condemns the reprehensible act and vows to bring the perpetrators to justice. Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident appeared to have occurred in Edo State, as the persons in the video spoke in a language indigenous to the state. With its uncompromising commitment to maintaining law and order, the government frowns at all forms of violence and is particularly appalled with the contents of the video. Government has ordered security agencies in the state to thoroughly investigate the incident to ensure that anyone found culpable is made to face the full weight of extant laws in the state, particularly the Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law. https://gwg.ng/2021/11/13/amid-uproar-over-torture-of-orbih-supporters-obaseki-orders-probe/ |

London Lover Fake News: I Won’t Be Distracted From #HarassBuhariOutOfParis- Reno Yesterday (Sunday, May 16, 2021), I declared my intention to convene a #HarassBuhariOutofParis peaceful protest, between Monday, May 17, 2021 and Tuesday, May 18, 2021, and this morning we woke up to a salacious and scandalous story about me, that I will not even want to repeat. A Nigerian proverb says the bird flew at night, and the baby died in the morning. The story is false. If you look at the platform that originally carried the story, it becomes obvious that it is being sponsored by the Presidency, to distract me from going to Paris, because they know that the Africa-France summit is an international platform and any protest will highlight the failures of General Buhari. That platform is notorious for pro-government stories. I am not the first perceived opponent of the Buhari administration to be targeted by them, neither will I be the last. You only need to visit the site. I have never and can never engage in premarital or extramarital sex. I abhor it. God forbid! I am so loathe to even respond to such a malicious attack on me by the Buhari administration. And I will not be baited to talk about private family issues publicly. Suffice to say that I have never had, and will never have a child out of wedlock. To me, it is best ignored because the devil is a known liar, and that is who has inspired those behind this story. Nobody can break my focus. After we are done with the Paris protest, my lawyers and I will sit down to decide if and when we should sue. Lest I forget, do you love Nigeria? Are you based in Paris? Join us for the #HarassBuhariOutOfParis peaceful protest tomorrow, 12 noon, Paris Time, at the Temporary Exhibition Centre, in front of the Eiffel Tower. Buhari can’t be globetrotting, while Nigeria is drifting. Go back and fix Nigeria! Reno Omokri https://www.instagram.com/p/CO-07cnjcF6/?igshid=12tnhymvheooq Now it's clear the story was concoted . Thanks Reno for.the swift response.. |

I await Reno's rebuttal of this story because so many of us look up to him as a standard. I can't imagine he will condescend to this level. After all there are always three sides of the story, the will has told its own part so I expect Reno to do likewise. Time is of the essence |
BEVERLY HILLS, May 16, (THEWILL) – When a famous writer said that it is far better to be seen by others as only human with flaws, warts and all, than to be regarded as sanctimonious, when in reality, deceit is second nature to you – he must have had people like a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri in mind. Or how else does one explain his pious projections on life and living when his personal life is the direct opposite of what he preaches?https://thewillnigeria.com/news/reno-omokri-abandons-wife-in-america-welcomes-new-baby-with-uk-based-lover/
