The deputy governor congratulated the kids and thanked the organisers of the programme for giving the children a platform to display their intelligence. "Thank you very much, Frank Edoho (host of the show) and the entire crew of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' Oboma1:Good advice!. |
In Nigeria today, the worst road is Ikot-Ekpene - Aba road. A car can disappear inside the huge pot-holes along that road. It is the worst in Nigeria today. No car in Nigeria can survive that road if rain falls. I will give any car driver that come out of that road $5,000 catch if he/she succeeds to drive the road after rain falls. I mean every single word. I am talking out of experince. |

Okada Riders In Ojodu Cry Out Over Police Extortion “Please sir, rescue us from the hands of Police in our area”. This is the lamentation of motorcycle riders popularly called Okada riders who are decrying the constant harassment and extortion of money at Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State. The riders association in a text message to Daily Independent are lamenting that the harassment is becoming over bearing. According to them, Police always mount a check point at Sabo/Gbadamosi and as soon as it is 9.00pm they would start arresting Okada Riders and they must settle with N1000 or above that and any attempt to argue or refuse parting with the money the Okada would delayed till the next day. They said that what pain them most is that the Police men would his at dark area and ass soon as they sited an Okada they would come out and arrest them and delay them till the person settles, saying sometimes it could be as much as N1500. “The worst of it all is that they do not stay on the road but hide inside the market (Oja). Please help us and do something on this illegal duty of the police”. One of them said. It would be recalled that Lagos State government banned Okada from operating as from after 10pm but one wonders why Police should be disturbing innocent riders at 9pm, one hour before the time allowed. The riders are appealing to the state government and the state Police Commissioner, to check the excesses of his officers. Police is destroying the image of the country now that Nigeria is re-branding and such extortion is capable of rubbishing the efforts on re-branding the country. The Lagos State government should also ensure that its good intention to ban Okadas from operating any time after 10 pm is not rubbished by some greedy police officers. http://independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=5526 |
I don't want to be critical of that budget. I wish the state well. |
Kobojunkie:I mean every single word here. It is just not about contributing to a thread, but thinking, and saying it the way it is. That guy really annoyed me with his contribution. Latest trend now is almost like stop and search. You can be in your business premises, and some thugs will just jump out of a vehicle, and sweep at a particular roll of shops, asking for tax for every taxable thing. I KNOW THAT VERY SOON, THEY WILL ASK FOR "ATMOSPHERE TAX". You will pay for the Oxygen being used in Lagos, because one guy wants to plant flowers in Lagos, and buy more BRT buses that are almost like Molues now. Today in Lagos, both state and Federal are fighting for who collects Advert permit, either directly or indirectly. Even as telecom firms pays appropriate taxes to federal government, Lagos state government too is asking them to pay taxes for each installed mast in the state. That is the basis for this argument. DOUBLE TAXATION AND HIGH TAX RATE. It is too much. Nigerians are ready to pay taxes, so long the roads will be well tarred, the rail will function, and there will be enough vehicles for mass transit, ailing industries will work, and generally, people are made to be accountable for every kobo in the government coffers. We are tired of mono-economy, oil. |
rethink:Do you live up to your username before you type? Where people are paying so much as tax, are they paying into people's pocket? or are they paying into government's coffers? Who in Nigeria is against paying tax? Even now, who tells you people are not paying tax? Do you know that PAYE system exist in Nigeria? Have any thug like guy, who can be mistaken as a miscreant approached you to collect tax? Has any uniformed thugged rough-handled you, and taken you to a make-shift illegal spot to demand for development tax? Have you paid Tv permit, Radio permit, advert permit, business permit, to local, state, and federal government before? My guy, always live to your username before you vomit those things!. |
Director of NBC, I mean. |

AIT: Presidency Denies Revocation Plot Written by By Golu Timothy, Abuja Wednesday, 23 December 2009 01:23 The Presidency yesterday washed its hands off the alleged plans to revoke the operational network licence issued to DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television and Raypower radio stations, saying it is not aware of any such move. A source our correspondent that neither President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua nor Vice President Goodluck Jonathan was briefed on any issue related to the alleged revocation of the network licence. Already, the source said, Vice President Jonathan has summoned the Minister of Information and Communications, Prof Dora Akunyili, and the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Engr Yomi Bolarinwa, have been summoned to the Presidential Villa to explain the circumstances leading to the "purported move to revoke the licence." According to the source, "The Presidency was not aware of the development and is not happy with the revocation allegation. Right now as we speak, the Minister (Prof Akunyili) and the DG (Engr Bolarinwa) have been summoned to defend the purported action. I can also authoritatively tell you that The Presidency is not aware of the development because neither the President nor the Vice President was briefed. This administration is one that is built on the tenets of rule of law and the freedom of the press. Any move that will erode these principles will be addressed promptly and collectively." http://www.leadershipnigeria.com/index.php/news/headlines/9997-ait-presidency-denies-revocation-plot |
N.I.Gboi:Anyway, even if they dont provide alternative, GOD will provide. |
Enjoyment1:She needs to apologise to Nigerians. |
Kay 17:Yes he is not a Saint though, but he is trying. I am just against his tax collection method and tax-duplication. Why ask someone to pay another N428million, after you have collected N16million on a piece of land worth N1.6b? What is the basis for this? |
Spyker:I am beginning to see Anambra politics as a do-or-die issue here. Why are the politicians behaving like this? Even the people of the state, are just allowing things to go unnoticed. Is it by force to serve, as they alwys claim? |
c0274309:Yes, you are right to an extent, but have you seen the figures displaced as against the tax policy here?. Have you noticed the double taxation techniques? |
Dora should resign. |
Dora should resigned. She has failed!. |
edoyad:I am not moved about what America says. They have not resolved their own problems, yet they want to assist others. Even those they tend to assist, are they not doing so because of the favour they intend to gain? Why didnt they assist Liberia, when that country needed them most? Is it not because they dont have oil wells? I am moved by what you and me intend to turn this country into. |
Dis Guy:Well, since she was not Minister, it would have been better if she had become a Minister in her field before moving forward. That not withstanding, if the UN job came before the ministerial job, why not? The issue here is, she is not doing well in that Ministry. She is being used to step on toes, which will back fire on her soon. |

Will this drama ever end in Anambra? Even after the elections, the problem that will exist will even be greater than before the elections. |
