Anyone here recalls some year back when a middle-aged Ijaw man by the surname Dabiri came looking for a relative of his and he was introduced to Abike Dabiri and she burst his bubble telling him she was Yoruba and couldn't possibly be his relative? ![]() It was shown on NTA Newsline then ![]() |
IJAWS also bear the name too. To break it down Da - Father Biri - side Taken together, it means The Paternal Family. . . .ie it connotes a relationship on the father's side of the family I know an Ijaw person bearing that name. |
Best 20 will be more like it ![]() |
Arlington Road [1999] starring Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins. All the +VE adjectives wouldn't be enough to qualify this movie so I'll just limit my remarks to the scorecard - 9/10 Without Men [2011]. . .PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR WATCH THIS MOVIE. YES, IT'S THAT BAD ![]() |
Soul Surfer [2011] Very nice movie. . . . .7/10 |
Apart from IE that comes bundled with Windows, I've got only 3 browsers installed on my pc. . .Mozilla Firefox, Cometbird and Sea Monkey. Try Cometbird and Sea Monkey. Both are light weight but caricatures of Mozilla Firefox. |
Numero Uno is Complete Sports without a doubt. . . check with a vendor and you'll see it sells out faster than all the other papers. Noticed this cos there's a vendor who comes by my street every morning and by the time hin reach my place, hin complete sports don finish The dedicated Club Football papers like Chelsea's True Blues, Arsenal Gunners, Forever Red etc also have a large following. If na regular newspaper, I'll say The Sun followed by Punch, Guardian and then This Day particularly on Wednesdays for Punch and Tuesday and Thursday for Guardian. |
Don't they have news in Ghana? The way modernghana.com, ghanaweb and other Ghanaian websites report news on Nigeria, I'm beginning to wonder about their fixation ![]() |
All these singing competitions Project Fame WA, Nigerian Idols, West African Idols etc are a waste of time IMO. It's better for a "talented" aspiring musician to hustle, gather money, hit the studio and record one or two dance/party tracks, get radio airplay and they'll blow faster than all these singing competitions will do for him/her. Also, it doesn't help that the scope of the show is limited Apart from the prize money, the recording contract & the car, there's nothing in Project Fame. It is just a platform to fame, become a celebrity and get invites to events IMO. How many winners of these competitions have gone on to have successful music careers? Na only Omawunmi be like sey she try. All the rest. . . .Timi, Mike, Chidinma, Nyanya and all the rest na failures and their songs/albums were flops. Dbanj, Tuface, Asa, P-Square, Olamide, Whizkid, Ice-Prince, Samklef, Timaya etc never went through any singing competition and they're the biggest things in the music industry today. . . .no surprises these same artists get invited to come and perform and judge these same contestants during the Project Fame |
Hehehehe. . .my good old friend hannie is in fine form ![]() Dr K, I hail o. Nothing do you cos me dey gbadun you gan. . .go on soun ![]() |
Samson Siasia: “This is not not the time to think of bringing back those old foreign expatriate coaches. They have nothing to offer. Some of them who are voicing for my sack are only jealous of my pay and they want to come back.Don't know whether to believe this cos Nigerian papers/journalists often ascribe comments to people who never made them. But If he really said the above, then he's ''dumber than dumbest'' and should be sacked. |
One can't but love beaf. Hin no send anyone Lol ![]() |

Question. . .can't the wedding gown/dress be done in a style that it won't be too obvious it's a wedding gown and it can be worn to dinner events & stuff like that after the D-Day? after all a guy can wear his suit after that day |
One thing we're relatively free from in this part of the world. . .NATURAL DISASTERS like Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes etc. E for too bad make we get natural in addition to the HUMAN disasters wey we get here. Anyway, may the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace and may God give their families the fortitude to bear the loss |
Used it for 2weeks with the Glo Direct/secure settings on my GLO NetPro modem on PC without an active data bundle plan subscribed & only N131.53 balance until Friday evening when it stopped working while I was pulling a 450mb movie. Checked the connection and noticed it had disconnected. . .then went on to check my credit balance and noticed it had zapped my N131.53 balance to N0.00 Loaded N200, connected via the GLo direct/secure APN and it zapped the credit again. Subsequent attempts to connect were unsuccessfulI then abandoned my GLO sim and switched over to my MTN sim cos I had the 3gb Night plan subscribed on it until yesterday night when I JUST decided to give the GLO Direct/secure stuff a try again and loaded N1200 into the Glo sim. It connected and I activated the Glo Always Micro/N1000/200mb data bundle plan. I connected and browsed using the Glo Direct/secure settings from 7.30pm to around 11.50pm (even pulled some e-books) all the while checking my credit balance and data bundle plan and everything was OK & intact (N.B I checked my data bundle plan & credit balance just before unplugging the modem & switching off the PC and I still had the 200mb data bundle & N200 credit balance intact) until this morning when I switched on my PC and plugged my modem and checked my credit balance and saw my N200 credit balance had been zapped to N0.00 and I only had 32mb left on my 200MB data bundle plan ![]() Now, the modem no even gree connect using the Glo Direct/Secure APN but connects Onetime via the default GLO Netpro APN (gloflat) which I'm using to post now. I no even know wetin to do again and I don tire. . . . Shey the awoof still dey work or e don end ni?. . .and wetin una advice me make I do to get connected back if e still dey ON cos I really enjoyed the GLO awoof and pulled lots of heavy duty files the 2weeks I used it ![]() MAKE UNA HELP ME O COS I DON TIRE and chop alone na to ____ _____ ![]() |

Anjaana Anjaani [2010]. . .a Bollywood romantic drama starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Interesting but a bit slow and laborious to watch - 5.5/10 Dostana [2008]. . . .another Bollywood movie but a romcom this time. It features John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan pretend to be G.A.Y in order to rent a house from a lady and they both end up falling in love with the lady's beautiful niece (Priyanka Chopra) and try to woo her. Nice, funny movie. . .7/10 Dhoom 2 [2006]. . .Bollywood action film starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. Plot was okay, acting was decent but the movie was a reminder that Bollywood as an industry is still far behind Hollywood in movie making and it hasn't mastered the act of portraying action sequences and stunts. Still, I liked it cos of the very danceable POP songs, the dancing and the Super-hot Aishwariya Rai. 6/10 When Harry Tries To Marry [2011]. . .an Indian born & brought up in America decides to marry the traditional Indian way. 4.5/10 DC Showcase Presents Catwoman [2011]. . .not a film per say but a short 30 mins made for TV animated Catwoman episode 5/10 |
Sad. . .all eyes on Eguavoen and the U-23 Olympic team now |
Semid4lyfe it should be fair too people talk about the positive side of their Nigeria or Nigerian experiences because we put out too much negative image about ourselves and country out there and yes people still keep their Nigerian passport so as not to go go through hassles for visa i.e visiting other West African countries.
^^ The only reason the OP started this thread is because the experience was -ve. Not that I blame the OP after all, negative news has more news value Moving on. . . . |
Story too long to read particularly when one is multitasking on PC and why do I find this thread offensive ![]() Question for the OP: Would you have posted a thread about your experience if everything had gone smoothly? ![]() |
