okoroemeka:5K is just the cost of renting the spraying booth/oven. The painter will not do the job for free and will charge 10 - 30k depending on the vehicle and the amount of work it'd require. Now, let's do the maths Panel Beating - 25k, Paint - 50k, Rent of Oven - 5k, Painting Workmanship - 15k. TOTAL - 95K. Not cost effective at all. |
safarigirl:He should have just reported the facts of the El-Rufai issue and left his personal opinion & emotions out of it. By the way, what's this CNN thing? Did he get a gig with them? |
safarigirl:Madam, good evening. Sometimes, truth is seen only from one's narrow perspective. I know you read his story but did you ever read the rebuttal of his former boss? |
Abike Dabiri's response is shallow..... |
O boy ye No be na wa, na real wa |
seunmsg:I disagree that he got the job based on sentiments and emotions, sir. Judging by the brief citation of his biography and experience, I think he's qualified. However, I see him as being too impulsive, overtly emotional and hot-headed. He believes firmly in the rightness of his opinion/stand and cannot be swayed even in the face of better logic and argument. This is a common flaw with these new breed of journalists and it worries me. |
This sensitization is coming a bit late in the day but I guess it's better late than ever.... |
I ruffled some feathers in that FTI staff telegram group this afternoon. One man mopol I giddem hot hot ![]() |

Who here knows how the Personal Income Tax (PAYE) is calculated? Kindly elucidate and break it down down to a layman like me. Thanks. |
NaijadrivaCars:Yeah, no comments, I'm only here to learn ![]() |
Received alert. Cooperative contributions and loan repayment deducted (as applicable) Also, the 5% Peculiarity allowance paid to non-teaching staff of universities in February was deducted. |
jmaine:Nothing yet o. Lots of lamentations from NOUN staff in the FTI staff telegram group. I'm pray & hope our case will be different. |

repairpalng:Do you have the Replacement LCD screen with touch digitizer and frame for Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in stock? If YES, how much is it? |
Guzel:From the very beginning, FG held the knife and the yam. They had all your details and the request for VCs to revalidate the BVN of academic staff was merely a courtesy. In the end, FG got their way. I understand it hurts to be forcefully enrolled onto a platform you didn't voluntary sign up for but your denial is far from the truth. My wife is an academic staff in the same university as me and using the new CONUASS salary template (from the NSIWC website) and the new tax regime, her salary was calculated and we arrived at the exact figure she was paid yesterday. For the avoidance of doubt, what was paid to academic staff was February and March Salary with the new minimum wage and 18 - 20% deductions calculated based on the gross salary. The deductions are as follows 1. Pension - 7.5% 2. PAYE Tax - 7% (in my wife's case) 3. National Housing Fund - 2.5% 4. Union Dues - 2% In the words of Phyno, "obago', e don enter be say e don enter. ASUU has entered IPPIS and can't possibly exit it. Every other talk on FG committing an illegality, breaching labour laws and worker's trust, dragging FG to court etc is just empty noise and okoto meow. ASUU should pivot their agitation onto some other areas like payment of minimum wage arrears, revitalization, fulfillment/implementation of previous agreements, earned allowances etc. In life, you win some and lose some. ASUU has lost this IPPIS battle. |
@ repairpalng Do you have Xiaomi Mi Max 2 replacement LCD Display Screen with Touch Digitizer & frame in stock? |

ashafson:Staff of the Federal Polys & FCEs had shortfalls in March salary because the Peculiarity Allowance was reduced from the 7% to 3% For University Staff, it was completely removed. |
legalwealth:I offered my unsolicited opinion and advice. It's up to you to take it or not. Bye... |
legalwealth:Oga mi, please relax. This is just a discussion forum and we live our real lives off the forum. I am certain who ever removed the thread had good reason to. Stop seeing everything as a witch hunt. |
chatwtme:Oga mi, please relax. I agree it is speculation but I do not say it lightly. It's a fact that University staff February salary was paid with Peculiarity Allowance, an allowance specifically meant for staff of Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education. In March, that component was not paid hence the reason for the shortfall in March Salary. So as it stands, it won't be completely wrong for it to be deducted from April salary. I don't want it to be deducted but if it is and university staff receive lower than what was paid in March, I won't be surprised. |
GAZZUZZ:I'll keep on saying it, the age demograpy of our population puts us in good stead to beat covid-19. YES, with the lifting of the lockdown, cases may rise but it won't be fatal for the vast majority of infected people. |
No one should blame Nigerians for where we are. Rather, blame the Government for not being able to provide palliatives and make conditions suitable for staying at home. Despite the lockdown, movement restrictions, border closures etc cases were still increasing and the virus spread to 32 states. NCDC could not scale up its testing capacity and were testing in bits and pieces. Absolutely nothing was achieved with the lockdown. Social distancing was always an utopian idea that was unachievable in Nigeria because of the accommodation & living arrangements in many poor & densely populated neighbourhoods. Go to places like Makoko, Ebute Ilaje, Onitsha etc to tell them about social distancing and they'll laugh you to scorn. Lets boost our immune system, gear up, up personal hygiene and face this thing head-on. Cases might escalate but it won't be fatal for the vast majority of infected people. |
TheGoodJoe:You overate your government. Academia are on strike because of a payment platform. NCDC does not have the capacity to test on a large scale so the isolation and treatment of infected people is a moot point. FG is broke. Oil prices have plummeted, no oil sales, little or no IGR because businesses have been on lockdown too. Providing palliatives to the poor and stimulus to businesses is apparently a difficult thing for the FG. That's why its important to lift restrictions/lockdown, open state borders and kickstart the economy. |
Staff of the Federal Universities should brace for impact cos the Peculiarity Allowance that was paid to them in January MAY BE deducted in April's salary.... ![]() |
Newpost:No be na wa, na real wa..... |
The reason why the "oyinbo" countries effected lockdown/stay home policies and talk about "flattening the curve" is because they are massively testing. We are not! America has a population of 330m and has tested over 5m people. South Africa with its 58m population has done 152,390 tests. Bringing it closer home Ghana (30m population), has done 88,188 tests. Nigeria with 200m population has done only a paltry 10,061 tests. This is scandalous! Lagos state projects a worse case scenario of 39,000 cases and best case scenario of 13,000 cases with the lockdown & social distancing. At the current rate of testing, which month will Nigeria (not Lagos state o) test enough people to detect 13,000 cases? The NCDC has revealed 26% of covid-19 cases are from unknown sources which implies there is already transmission at the community level. Also, results from antibody tests indicates that Covid-19 cases are 28 - 55 times higher than confirmed cases which means the infection is more widespread, many people recovered without even knowing they were infected and it's less deadly than initially thought. Given all these, what then is the essence of the lockdown/stay@home? Can NCDC ramp up it's testing capacity to detect majority of cases to isolate and treat? The answer is a big NO. We cannot copy and paste oyinbo policy and expect to get the same result. Our situation and circumstances are different..... We need to lift the lockdown/stay home restrictions immediately and adopt a new strategy.... Let people boost their immune systems and up personal hygiene. The authorites should enforce the use of face masks and disinfect open markets and public spaces.... and let natural selection take it's due course. The age demograpy of our population is very advantageous for us to beat covid-19 with minimal losses. |
Clout chasing and attention seeking gimmick. Most of the people in the isolation centres have mild to moderate cases of the Covid-19 infection and are expected to get better. If he goes there, prays and they eventually get better, he'll then take the credit. |
cerpvad:Even before IPPIS, transfer of service between institutions was a generally dificult thing to achieve so I assume it'll be more difficult now. Also, you need high level & very strong connections to pull it through... . and it takes some time and waka waka. A lecturer II in my university pulled it off mid last year but guess what? - her husband was the Dean of PostGraduate school in the University she transferred to, an ally of the VC and a personal friend to our own VC ![]() From the little I know, you'll have to get a guarantee of acceptance of transfer of service from the university you want to transfer to then you take it from there..... Talk to senior admin people in your university and go through your conditions of service handbook. This should give you some pointers.... |
@ AmandaLuv YES, universities are part of the recruitment embargo but most VCs never took it seriously and kept on employing despite the embargo. My VC for example only used it as a convenient excuse for turning down some people. He was always quick to whip out a newspaper carrying the embargo story, a notice from the Ministry of Education and an advisory letter written by the financial adviser to the university council (the bursar) on the need to pause employment because of the increasing personnel costs which will lead to salary shortfalls and with the promise to help the employment seekers when the embargo was lifted. Lots of staff tried to get their people in and failed but 100s of people were still employed during the same period. The vast majority of the new employees had one commonality - same state and LGA as the VC. I know this because as a HOU, many of the new employees had to pass through me during documentation and 5 of them were posted to my unit. But now, IPPIS has changed the game significantly.... at least in the employment of non teaching staff by the VCs. Unike GIFMIS which was domiciled in the individual universities and allowed new employees to be put on the payroll immediately, it's different with IPPIS. Now VCs must follow due process by seeking and getting the necessary approval from "Abuja" otherwise new staff may not be payrolled. (The Federal Teaching Hospital attached to my university employed massively in January but till date, the new staff have not been paid salaries because IPPIS has not come to capture and enroll them). Now universities can't rig the personnel costs that much cos FG has taken over payment of salaries directly. They cannot claim 1500 staff when they only have 1000. They cannot claim someone on level 9 is on level 12 while preparing their yearly budgets. I strongly believe IPPIS will affect the way Universities employ going forward. |
