Why didn't you lease it so that the land or building still belongs to you? greedy bastards always waiting for a mugu you will defraud. BTW the oil you now claim to belong to you, when did Nigeria buy those lands? or didn't you take it by force and killed the people you deceived after it dawned on them that they have been scamed? ole buruku onye ohi na ama. Quel grand voleur, espèce de bandit que vous ette chien Yes you bought the land. But just like those who paid to prospect oil and have their licenses limited to a period of time for the area they paid for; you also paid and you have a Certificate of Occupancy Cof O ( that's even if you have done all the legal processes to be able to call the land yours). C of O is limited to 99 years. Its a certificate of occupancy. You don't own the land by origin. By the theory of the person I quoted initially, all your property on all said lands belong to the original owners. Its always nice to say things that make you feel good now, without looking far into the future to see the consequences of those words. |

Nothing, You want to reap where you did not sow, any ways if the Niger delta Had LISTENED to OJUKWU, they would not have been in this mess. They instead chose lies and misinformation from the north and now they are the ones suffering the most in this God forsaken country. All real Igbo people believe that what is on or in the land belongs to the OWNER or OWNERS of the land and if they want to share it is on the OWNER's terms. If the bolded is true, then igbos don't have any property in Lagos and other places outside southeast. |
Politics › Re: Senate Presidency/speakership: A Win-win For Yorubas by semitunde: 3:49pm On May 15, 2015 |
VirginFinder: As Nigeria stands today, the Hausa Fulani have 100% of the NW and 60% of the NE. While the Yoruba have 100% of the SW and about 20% of the NC. This automatically gives them an edge over us.
Hausa-Fulanis will always see Bukola Saraki and other NC Yorubas as Yoruba first and foremost before northerners. They'll never be deemed fit to represent core northern/Hausa-Fulani interests. In 2010, when a consensus northern candidate was to be picked to face GEJ in the PDP primaries, Atiku was favoured over IBB and Bukola Saraki because he (Atiku)is Fulani. Kwara, along with the SW voted for GEJ in 2011. This was against the voting pattern in the core north - NE & NW. In 2015, they joined the SW in booting him out!
When GMB picked Idiagbon as deputy in his first coming, he believed he was being fair to Yorubas and by extension southerners notwithstanding the fact that Tunde Idiagbon is a fellow northerner. Bukola Saraki also dissed Bio to eventually back a Yoruba man(Ahmed Fatai) as Kwara governor in 2011. Why would he do that if he wasnt out to protect Yoruba interests in Kwara?
The north have voiced out that it will be unfair for both the Senate & House of Reps to be headed by Yorubas - that's why they are clamouring for Speakership seeing that they may not be able to beat Bukola Saraki in the race for the Senate Presidency. Why would they say that if they didnt consider Bukola Saraki as a Yoruba man incapable of protecting core northern/Hausa Fulani interests.
Northern Yorubas will always be looked upon as South Westerners when appointments are to be made or positions are to be shared.
Be sincere, if you were to vote based on sentiment, who would you choose between GMB and Bukola Saraki? What of between Bukola Saraki and Rotimi Amaechi? I'm really not disputing the fact that they call Bukola Saraki a Yoruba. It's their prerogative, I can't judge that. But we in the south also see most northerners as Hausa - Fulani. And many in positions of power are from these stock, representing the whole north. Why will they want a Bukola Saraki, seemingly representing Yoruba removed only to be replaced with a northerner, assumed by southerners to be Hausa - Fulani; when they already have someone like that in the position of the president. Is that fair? If Bukola is to be replaced, either it goes to another rep( of southern inclination) from North Central; or it should go SS/SE. |

ShymmexOBE: @the excerpt in bold - please stop referencing that vacuous illiterate when talking about politics with me. The guy is an obtuse id.iot and a paid hack with no understanding of anything, apart from copying and pasting nonsense from the internet. Isn't the same who could barely even string words together when he first started posting? Cite intelligent folks, not loutish/lousy airheads.
I think the value you lot are giving to both Senate President and Speaker has more to do with a proper democratic setting, which Nigeria isn't. Yes, on the surface both might look attractive. However, in the real scheme of things, how effective are they in what actually goes on in the country? Ditto how effective is the Nigerian legislative arm of government in how the country is actually being run? That's how you analyse how strategic both are in the scheme of things - especially when it comes to an arm of government that's more of a charade than anything else.
Trust me, the "bigbank" in the scheme of things are certain ministerial portfolios. You lot don't even know how strategically those from the other side benefited from Iweala. When the smoke clears, I think a lot of people will get a clearer picture. Lol. The bolded was a cheap shot. You sorely underestimate the powers and influence of those guys in the two chambers. They may not have as much access to funds as the ministers but they determine the funding of the ministers. This apart from the little issue of helping to determine the person behind each ministry. Do you know the chambers guys carry out over site functions on each ministry and appropriate monies for such? They also determine what those amounts appropriated would be, apart from other budgetary allotments. In this country we only know the extent to which the powers of an office can be wield after the person holding that office is allowed to go the full extent- see Aandokaa. We haven't yet seen the full powers of the chambers except maybe when they jettisoned obasanjo's third term bid. I would like someone representing my region to be in the thick of things when destiny changing issues are being negotiated or when such full powers will be unleashed. |

ShymmexOBE: Err, bruddah, I don't think heading the Senate and/or being the speaker of the house is actually a win, in the real sense of it, since the country has a constitution and members of both houses would still have to deliberate/vote in/on whatever law/constitution-amendment they might want to make.
I'm more interested in the ministerial portfolios and how the important ones are shared among the APC strongholds in all the geopolitical zones. If the Yorubas don't get at least the finance ministry and possibly aviation (and a next one), then they lost out. Strongholds have to be compensated.
David Cameron just selected his new cabinet and Northern England only got one. And that's basically because they don't vote for conservatives up there. My point is that: when it comes to politics/election, you've to always cater to your base. But from what I'm seeing, it seems these muthaphucking Northerners are trying to play a fast one on the Yorubas - and it doesn't look pretty at all. OBE? Pictures of the ceremony or... I agree with some of your points here. Don't agree on others . While the ministerial slots are performance inclined, the political posts are strategy inclined and are as important if not note important than the ministerial slots. If the president is going to be impeached or a law affecting section of the country is being passed, we would like to be the ones holding the aces. Cal it protection, call it strategic positioning, barcanista can explain this better I guess... But I quite agree there might be a fast one being played here. When northerners go for different posts under the guise of North East, North West and North Central, we don't say all of them are Hausa-fulani. Why then is the dust being raise in Bukola Saraki's issue? He's from North Central and Mr Gbajabiamila is from South West. I don't know why this should become a connundrum. I'm sure Hausas won't see it as unfair if they are the ones in this same position as Yoruba here. |

adorable29: What happened to invitation cards? Sometimes its sent before the payment of the aso ebi (if you are a high level clientele, Lol). The first wedding having this style, we were the event managers, so we didn't need a pass, we brought most of the vendors including private security. We made sure most of the important guys in each family were noted and we had their nos just in case a family member came without a pass. We also made sure there was one rep for each side of the family who when required would come and identify the person coming in. In the second wedding we were family friend. We got all the package including the gifts before even the payment for the aso ebi. My sis being on the train also meant we had automatic passes. |
Culture › Re: My Take On Asoebi by semitunde: 5:11pm On May 14, 2015 |
I don't support aso ebi, but playing devils advocate here. Some ppl make the aso ebi quite high and then tie it to entry so as to reduce the people coming to the number and class they want.
I've been to two weddings where the invite and gate pass were supplied with the aso ebi after payment. Without the gate pass you couldn't get in. The alternative was to call a high ranking member of the family or the event manager to let you in on personal recognition; else you'd be turned back by security. |

This has been reharshed severally.
It is expected that the presidency, of whatever party, delivers in its promises, or atleast try to.
It is also expected for it to have most of those it deploys to achieve its promised objectives, from same party or others chosen from outside, in so far as the job given is performed. This is done all over the world.
The Igbo may not get many political appointment like ministers because there aren't many of their representatives in APC to choose from in the first place. And in search of round pegs for round holes, the ones available my have other candidates inside or outside of APC, better fitted for such line or skill.
The Igbo will also not be in line for political leadership like the senate simply because there are no reps for that. The ones there are not of APC (and it will be fool hardy to think ppl will back any of them when there are others of APC who are in line for same posts)
In essence, what many, mostly Yoruba posts have tried to explain is that, Igbo have been doing the same thing theyve done for years, political miscalculation.
Let me paint a scenario. If what the op postulates come to be true, and the Yoruba are left in the cold, who do you think the Igbo will follow?Instead of looking at the situation as an opportunity to pull the Yoruba (who they now share a high level of mutual dislike) close; they will go north! Because that is the defaut setting and its the one that will spite the Yoruba the most- this they will enjoy. |

ravgach: PassingShot: You have to realize that Igbos are by nature totally, finally, completely different from Hausas and Yorubas. Igbos are democrats by nature. Igbos are Republican. Igbos do not have follow-follow mentality. If an Igbo leader goes against the wishes of the people, it will be told him in his face. If Igbos hold anyone in high esteem and he goes the wrong way, depending on his standing the Igbos will let him know one way or the other.
The Igbos have told Ojukwu to leave active politics since his return in 1982, but he refused and joined partisan politics. His action though did not diminish the love the people have for him in anyway but the vote was like a protest vote against his decision. You must realize that he was not a perfect man. The love for him did not stop Igbos from disagreeing with him on some issues. That is who Igbos are. In one of his visits to Onitsha during his political days, there was serious traffic that made people stay on the road for many hours. When the people in the Market near the road he was using noticed, he was the one, they demolished the market to enable him pass and rebuilt the market. That is the extent he was loved!
Destiny has made him what he is today. If Igbos were like the Hausas or Yorubas, Ojukwu would have become a god to be worshiped. But Igbos are not like that. He will be their hero for a very long, long time! This reply is confusing. But maybe it's because I'm not Igbo . |

Pls, try and enjoy Christmas with them and experience the magic. Brother, You are comparing sleep, with death. During those festive periods. Those that come home are prepared financially to take care of themselves throughout that period. Its OK for it to look magical. But when they now have to stay and make money from same place..... You should notice that people get agitated if something like fuel price hike hits during or after the yuletide holidays. Cos most are not prepared to stay longer than planned for. Also, you think compared to the whole population of Igbo, those that come home are the bigger percentage? |
Politics › Re: UN Invites BIAFRA Group To June Meeting by semitunde: 3:29pm On May 11, 2015 |
I wish Igbos the best in their quest for Biafra.
I only hope what I see in such future won't come to pass, and if it inevitably does, that it doesn't impact much on the rest of the country viz:
The ability to create and sustain an enabling environment, enough to contain the teeming population of igbos coming in.
The ability to maintain infrastructure that would easily collapse under the strain of population surge over a sustained period.
That the same youths won't be disappointed and frustrated in the reality as against their dream, enough to want to force themselves back to where they rejected by coming home.
That the fight of every man for himself won't leave communal duties for no one.
Igbo Governors have been having it easy so far. Most of their population don't stay at home and hence do not strain facilities. Those facilities and the mental capacity of those in charge would be put to severe test. One which I unfortunately don't see them coming out of.
Igbos need deep introspection and an evaluation of character and mind set for Biafra to work.
They also would need friendly neighbours. They need to start forming the friendship now. |
