isaactolu: MTN is one of the most innovative and creative brand in Nigeria, I know a lot of you have issues with them (including me) but that does not deny the fact that this company has been proven time and again to be miles ahead in creativity and innovations. From their advertisements, their value added services, community projects to their talent hunts and reality shows am sure you will agree with me that they are a genius or let me say they have some genius handling these areas because in some other areas, hmmm you and I know MTN ‘na wash’. A lot of us still remember the“Chris, where is the phone” advert not to talk of the more recent Saka I don port ooo advert, the truth be said MTN makes us enjoy watching adverts on TV, not to talk of ‘Who Want To Be A Millionaire’ show and their Project Fame West Africa is undoubtedly the best among its peers.
Project Fame West Africa (which I will refer to as PFWA henceforth) is the best talent development reality TV show in West Africa. PFWA has produced some of the country’s finest musicians since its inception 7 years ago and all, I mean all of it past winners have gone on to become hits in the music industry, from Iyanya, Chidinma, Monica and recently Olawale, you will agree with me that PFWA has always produced stars. Have you ever wait for a minute to examine why PFWA always produce stars that after the show make their marks and become popular in the music industry whereas rival TV shows like Glo Naija sings, Etisalat’s Nigerian Idol repeatedly fail to match such feat? You will observe that we don’t even get to remember the names of past winners of these rival shows whereas we can still vividly remember who the fourth runners up of like 3 seasons ago of PFWA was. PFWA has become this successful simply because of its structure of operation what we can call its Modus Operandi. Rival shows all have the same structure which differs from PFWA structure and that is why they are not as successful. PFWA is structured in such a way that it will always produce the best from the bests. We have a panel of judges, the faculty and the contestants. The faculty gives each contestant a task to do, a song to perform and they also coach and tutor them so as to get them to give the best performance possible. All the contestants perform at the show where they are scrutinized by the judges pointing out their errors and areas they need to improve on. The judges then select the 4 worst performance of the day and put them on probation. From these 4 contestants, the viewers will save a contestant; the faculty one and the other contestant will save 1 the other contestant not saved will exit the show.
If you look at this structure properly you will notice that it is guaranteed to produce the best out of the bests. A very good contestant is likely never to be on probation throughout the show- we have seen this in past seasons, examples include Monica, Chidinma etc. But this season MTN just came up with the greedy idea of putting all the contestants on probation after the 3rd week. This act will surely increase MTN’s revenue from voting but it will kill the quality of the show as it is the contestant with the highest number of votes that get to remain in the competition cos we all know that anybody that will vote due to the high cost of the SMS charge will only vote for his/her friend or relative among the contestants regardless of whether he/she is aware that the person is good or not. In other words, I can’t have a friend or relative among the contestants and not vote for him/her even if I realize there are better contestants in the show.
What this will result into is producing the contestant with the highest no of rich friends and relatives (who could afford the high cost of voting) as winner instead of the producing the best contestant as winner. This is the system that rival shows are using that is making them never to produce a true star. MTN following this system will surely increase their purse but will speedily kill the quality of the show. And we are already experiencing this in the exit of Shola (I know you all agree that he is by far better than some of the contestants left in the competition). Just look at the scenario that put Geoffrey, Shola, Christian and Daniella on probation believe you me if the original system had been used, none/just one of them would have been on probation.
MTN will truly make money from this new system but at the same time they will kill the quality of the show, it is now left for them to either choose to pursue money or the quality of the competition.

Romance › Re: What Do Boys Gain In A Relationship Without Sex? by SenatorJames(m): 7:20pm On Sep 24, 2014 |
Ezegozie: I am really asking because i think some Boy's are being used to achieve financial needs.
Take for instance, a student that is probably not going to marry in the next 5yrs. And he is in a so called relationship that does not involve sex or any romantic activities. But he spends on her, he takes her out and pay for her private needs. Let me ask you officially
what do you gain from such a parasitic relationship ?
If you are not into sex, because of religious purpose, then why are you into a relationship?
Why not save the money and give to the orphanage and receive blessings, if you are so religious?
And for the girls, If you are not ready for sex before marriage, why are you ready for demanding from your boyfriend before marriage? My brother sex is not the major enjoyment in a relationship, if you are lucky to meet a good person, you will enjoy his/her care, advice, sweet discussion, good meal she prepares, sense of humour, prayer, feeling for you etc pass the over hyped "sex". Let me come down to your level of reasoning (no insult) and give this advice that; dont go into any relationship if you are not ready for marriage and you wont be able to bear spending for a lady without sex. Real men are doing it, you also can do it, just ask for the grace. On the other hand, if sex is the gain of relationship, have you not seen average people (mostly widows/widowers) getting married and there will not be any intercourse between them? Just take care of my children, cook good food and take care of the home? |

They will soon start to summon animals, you will hear something like "The house committee on Enviroment has summoned some Fulani cows to come and clarify why they ate farmer's crop in Benue" 3rdeye1: Pls let them hold on to it! If it is returned, it will sure go into some alien account and nothing will heard of it. It is so bad that we have come to this level of 'dashing' out money to other countries in the face of abject poverty in our land. God bless Nigeria! Btw...have u noticed that our legislators can summon a dead person? Naija I hail thee! @Topic. If possible I will advise South Africa government to hold on to the money, establish some infrastructures and programmes to better the life of Nigerians over there. It will not have any impact on us, if they return the money. |

I dont blame them, everybody have to queue for something. In a sane country where they dont have to queue before they get neccesary things of live, queueing to get ordinary phone will be fun to them.
Here in Nigeria, we queue for days to survive; to enter BRT, at the ATM, to register for anything, to vote our corrupt leaders, to get employed etc. So we dont have any free time for this fun catching event.
God bless Nigeria. |
Politics › Re: Another Church Building Collapses In Edo (Real Life Photos) by SenatorJames(m): 3:07am On Sep 24, 2014 |
My bible tells me to "watch and pray", it continues to say "faith without work is dead while alive" TUMIC: The residents blamed the church management for using young people to destroy the church instead of hiring a bulldozer. The collapse of the building almost resulted in chaos as some angry youth vandalized and set ablaze a bus owned by the church in protest of the incident.
It is time we start praying for this thing to stop. Lets do the right thing, use the right building materials and use common sense to know when to be physical and spiritual. You mean they should know when to work and when to exercise faith? |

I'm James that sent you MTN (400,400,200,200=1200) for the 1G data on whatsapp yesterday morning. You did not send me my data, you did not transfer my 100 credit balance, you did not call me to apologies of the delay, your number is no more going since yesterday, you remove your display picture immediately you confirm my recharge cards as valid. Though with all my above points, it shows that you had duped me, as speculated by my friends, but i still believe in you, because you sounded responsible to be a scammer. Please i'm expecting my money soon, and I pray the Lord will bless the work of your hand as you respond. Thanks. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Christian Dating In A Godly Relationship by SenatorJames(m): 9:27pm On Sep 17, 2014 |
2buff: If it is your lot in life to never marry, that is good. Walk that path with pride. However, don't try rto impose it on others, otherwise you risk sounding overly self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is a turn-off to everyone, God included.
Now, I have always told folks on this thread to DEFINE what you are talking about. From what I hear you saying, YOUR definition of relationship/girlfriend/boyfriend is 2 people fornicating. That is a very myopic definition. There are many romantic relationships between a man and a woman that have no such activities.
Now answer this, IF however, you do want a family in the future, how exactly would you go about making that a reality? Do you think the woman will fall from heaven? Even if she does, will she force herself into your life without you initiating things? Do you think because she "fell from heaven", that she will be perfect and you won't need to spend time "understanding" her?
It is from answering these question that you will truly understand what you are talking about and know for yourself whether you are being pragmatic or just being plain naive. God will provide yes, but he will NEVER force anything/anyone into your hand. He simply puts it within your reach. You must be bold and go after what you desire with faith. Afterwards, you build a relationship with her. Yet, this same relationship is what you are bad mouthing now. Remember, God will not give you what you don't want, so if you like keep professing distasteful things for your future.
Right now, you are just talking to make yourself sound profound or you are just not at that level of life yet. In which case, respect your currently limited experience and stop talking about what you are still too small to understand. I get your point 2buff, the issue is that courtship is the right word to be used for a godly relationship, even though boyfriend/girlfriend may not engage in sexual sin, the term is wrong to be use as a christian. You can check the dictionary meaning of boy/girlfriend. Good night, how has been your day friend? |
