This is unfortunate. If not for the explicit "no", I would have said that he was dodging the question, but he said it. He threw atheism under the bus. He has made it very clear to everybody that he doesn't identify as an atheist and doesn't want to be considered as an atheist. Bless him. This doesn't mean he's not an atheist, of course; an atheist is simply someone who doesn't hold a belief in the existence of any God.

I don't believe for one second that Mark believes in the existence of the Jewish God. The one who forbade Jews from eating pork instead of teaching them how to cook it properly. Who created foreskins to protect the sensitive tips of male organs, but then ordered the Jews to cut them off their newborn babies. Who permitted Jews to enslave foreigners and treat them as property, even though he created all people. Who made women menstruate but then declared that a menstruating woman is unclean, and anyone who touches her - even her husband - is also unclean. Who banished children of single parents and their descendants from entering his temple for 400 years (the 10th generation).

I don't believe that Mark believes in that God. And since he hasn't talked about any other God, I continue to believe that he is an atheist. He may choose to call himself an agnostic, a cultural Jew, or whatever helps Facebook and his family, but that doesn't mean he's not an atheist.

We can condemn the widespread practice of going to church on Christmas day to listen to sermons, but the rest of Christmas is just fine.

Tai Solarin and his wife did quite well. Nigerians can tolerate people who believe differently a little bit because it's a multi-religious country.

You see them here on nairaland that they don't believe in God, still they celebrate Christmas. Christmas we all know is synonymous to being christian and the meaning christian is christ-like. I think nairalanders that are atheist are deceiving themselves

What Christmas means to us is exactly what it means to you, minus the religious part. It's the time at the end of the year when we get to stay home or travel to spend time with our families and lovers. We give and receive gifts. We watch Christmas movies. We eat chicken. We shop for clothes and gadgets. Kids visit father Xmas and detonate bangers. These things aren't religious. Only the name "Christmas" sounds religious. Most atheists are not bothered by that. Besides, the practice of having celebrations near the end of the year predates Christmas.

It let's you live your life according to reason rather than dogma. You get to do the things that make sense to you as a scientifically educated 21st century human. You don't have to defend passages in the Bible that are obviously immoral and outdated or concoct dishonest excuses for its numerous contradictions and errors.

Can we change the phrase "Atheism Isn't Evil"in the title to "Atheism Is Good"? This makes it positive.

The claim that atheism is evil has no merit whatsoever. By stooping to the level of defending atheism from delusional accusations, we may be actually legitimizing them. We should be arguing that the rational worldview is better than the dogmatic worldview, not that it "itself isn't evil".

What makes you feel that you're a genius? Is your school currently in session? Which school? What are you studying. Details are important.

It certainly is. I think most of the people saying they will "provide help" in January will not keep their promises. Some are just saying it to reassure their downlines who were left holding the bag after they got help and cashed out just in time. Others are trying to support MMM so that it will last long enough for them to pull out their money. They can't accept the fact that their money is gone for good. I feel bad for them.

The meaning of atheism in Greek is completely irrelevant since "atheism" is an English word. It hurts to have to explain something so obvious. You can't prove that God exists by messing with meaning of the word "atheism". The word's current meaning is clear. Accept it and move on.
