www.nairaland.com/followed sorry

Implemented!!

This is not a difficult question at all. Study what you love. Study ICT. Having a doctor in the family is not what people think it's like. ICT is a field that has created many billionaires so there's no reason for an ICT lover to study a different course. How many medical doctors are as rich as Mark Zuckerberg at his age, for example? Medicine should be studied by people who truly care about the sick.
Amin. Erm but Seun do you mind changing your profile picture? It looks eh, well...
How does it look, exactly? Try to express yourself with meaningful words that make sense, so we can understand you.

@Richfella: Try www.nairaland.com/_following if you need that view. It's boring though, in my opinion.

afam4eva: It's great but i would like you guys to attach the username of the supposed friend that we're following. Also locating the said post is not easy as that particular thread might have up to 10 pages.

Done. The name of the user you're following is now displayed, and a direct link to the user's last post is now provided.
@ Seun. Is there any way users can figure who is following them?
Yes. www.nairaland.com/followers

stepo707: My followed topics is always so much even though i dont follow up to 50topics but in my list its more than 250.why?

Your Followed Topic list also includes all new topics created by the people you're following.

Hello Nairalanders,

The last time I posted an update, the Following page showed a list of posts made by the people you were following. This wasn't as cool as it should have been, so we went back to work on the feature, and switched to a format that shows the topics your friends recently posted on. How have you found this change?

We also noticed a rather obscure bug that prevented people from posting topics on boards the people following them were also following. For example, none of the people I was following could post on the programming board because I was following the programming board. None of the people yamakuza was following could post on the webmaster board because he was following it. This unfortunate bug has been there since we introduced board following, but we've fixed it now.

I'm sorry about the bug, and I hope you enjoy the updated feature. We should probably tackle trolls and spammers next, right?

RECENT UPDATES:
* The Followed Topics page now has a "Mark All As Read" feature.
* Following now shows the name of your the people you follow and provides a direct link to their last posts on each thread.

Googler: @lastpage

Well, 2.45 to 3.42 to 4.47 - something needs to be explained there. But is this 4.47, is it an error? I mean, other accounts have consistently put the crash at between 3 and 4.

This from the "eyewitness account" thread:

Now consider these:
1. Someone on telly said 3.40
2. There was a football match played that day which started at about 4pm. Crash obviously happened before match.
3. My colleague just showed me her phone - she sent out messages of the crash by 4.54 (that is, the news had already gone viral and spreading on BB by 4.54).

So I don't believe the crash happened at 4.47pm!

I believe the first post about the crash on Nairaland was posted just after 4pm

nice

If you've had your eyes checked with an ophthalmologist? If not, do so right away? Whatever you're having is a medical condition.

Here's what atheists usually say in such situations: "Bleep. We're all going to die. Shit. Let me try to text my mum to say bye"

@Peterson1993: Aww, thanks. You're too kind. Let's try to stay on topic, though.

Atheists don't pray, so the question is a silly one. It's like asking a vegetarian what kind of meat he/she would eat in a plane.

Thanks.

What are the advantages of 2-door cars?

@Kobojunkie: If you think you can change the Nigerian government, then go ahead and do so. Good luck; you'll need it. However, whether the govt improves or not, life goes on. People must figure out how to solve problems on their own until the government proves itself capable of doing a good job.

@okemmadu: Don't mind Kobojunkie. The thing about plane crashes is that it's easier to prevent them than to protect passengers adequately. The speeds at which planes travel are so high that wearing a helmet won't make any difference. Fire extinguishers seem like a good idea, though. I wonder why planes don't come with them. I suspect that the volume of fuel in a plane is so high that fire extinguishers won't help much. I hope people in the know can shed more light on this.

eezeebone: Good point. But while Google dreams of a future where everybody comes to them for information, Facebook dreams of a future where every body goes to somebody, a group or a page they trust for information. Google is aiming at being autocratic while selling an "open world' phenomenon while Facebook is being demovratic and actually enabling an open world. At this point we cannot say who will win. Both companies have vision. It's because of facebook's vision of an interconnected world anyway that got almighty Google thinking in that direction.

No offence intended, but this is nonsense. Google is as "democratic" as Facebook. In fact, it's more democratic because it allows you to get information from the best source regardless of whether the source is somehow "related" to you or not. Using the social graph for search is foolishness. When I want information about something important, I want the best information in the world. I don't want the best information in my circle of friends; if I did, I would just ask them directly. My friends are not experts on every topic, and even where they are experts, there are people out there who know better than them. Google helps me to find the best sources of info.

It looks quite manageable. How much?

That's simply not true, oga. I just checked. On boards, we don't link to the last page from the first page because that's pointless, but on threads, we always link to the last page because we know it's important. We put a lot of thought into the features of New Nairaland. On the Stock Market Tips For Nigerians thread, we link to page 787 directly. Navigating to recent pages on a thread is easy.

Optimisticgondy: If we are to agree the verse is from the old testament and shouldn't be taken serious, then emphasis should not be laid on tithes payment cos it's found in the old testament

Correct. tithe payment as practiced in modern pentecostal churches has no biblical basis at all. It's simply a scam.

mkmyers45: I wonder why they are following the tithe rule..

Some pastors desperate for cash started preaching the tithing rule to their gullible members. These churches got more money than other churches, so they grew faster and became dominant. Other churches trying to compete with them are forced to preach the same rule. Tithing is now a self-sustaining tradition that everyone believes and everyone accepts.

Can You give an example of the type of thread you're talking about?

Why did you choose MS Access and VBA?

mkmyers45: Wikipedia

A testament is a document that the author has sworn to be true.

Except the former sworn truth is no longer valid and hence invalidated it hold's forth....

Christians believe the New Testament supercedes the Old. There are many things there that they don't follow.

Gladly. Here goes: You don't need load balancing. You don't need a server cluster. Unless your problem size is 10 times Nairaland.

Yes.

markus112: Good job! Keep it up!

Thanks! We are committed to making Nairaland better for every Nairalander.
