Uyi Iredia: Seun's piece is as good as the naïve communism of the likes of Marx & Lenin. What's hard to imagine is a peaceful world without religion. Subtly implying that Christianity & other theistic religions (which evolved from various philosophies) is the main factor hindering peace is naïve. The problem as I've repeatedly pointed out is fanaticism which can occur under ANY school of thought as seen in Nazism, Communism, Catholicism, Shiite Islam etc Peace first and foremost is a state of mind not an utopic social condition. I'll advise anyone here to read the essays of Martin Luther King and in particular the Satyrgraha (works explaining the non-violent resistance philosophy of the great Mohandas Gandhi). History has clearly shown that peace can occur under any context e.g the Golden Age of the Israelites under King David, the rise of the Edo suzerainty under the aggresive expansionist regime of Oba Ewuare and the modern-day oligarchy of Kuwait.

How many of them are doctors? My point is not that he needs to study ICT formally, but that he cannot hope to achieve much if he tries to combine ICT and medicine. All the people listed above worked full time in ICT in order to achieve what they achieved. They did not achieve greatness in their spare time while pursuing ICT as a hobby. They faced it squarely. Can you imagine Bill Gates building Microsoft in his spare time while pursuing a medical degree? It's arrogant to think you can achieve much without focus.

Nonsense. How many breakthroughs in IT have been achieved by medical doctors who engage in IT in their spare time? How can you compete with someone who wakes up every morning to do IT, does IT all day, and then goes to sleep at night doing IT while you are busy doing struggling with medicine? A medical doctor doing IT in his/her spare time would have to be a genius to achieve anything notable in IT, and even in that case he/she would achieve much more without the burden of medicine. Let's not promote mediocrity.

If you care about performance, use a dedicated server with lots of RAM. The cloud is a system that allows you to set up deliciously complex configurations involving dozens of virtual servers that, together, would end up not performing as well as a single, well-tuned dedicated server with lots of RAM, while being much more complicated to manage. The cloud is designed and priced for occasional use, such as running CPU-intensive batch jobs. For web hosting, you should start with a regular VPS and move to a dedicated server later.
