Beehandz: I applied for Visa with my wife, daughter. My wife has once been denied so she had a profile. Created a profile for myself and daughter together but unfortunately wify wasn't interviewed with us cz of error on her application no.she rescheduled her interview but was denied. My daughter and Myself got our Visa and I visited the US mid this year and back just for 2wks as stated in our DS 160. Now I want my wife to reapply. She'll go with my passport (eveidence that I travelled and back) and my daughter's passport as we intend going for our anniversary next year in the US.
What does she need to do differently pls. Nothing new... Just tell her to be positive and what she filled in her DS160 form is important. |

ibukunpops: So we got in, different CBP as advised but she was asked for her return ticket and had to come meet me for it, I followed her back to the officer as i was still waiting on the queue to be called, he also asked about how long I stayed for my previous visit (which was Feb/Mar this year) and he stamped us in right there together.
We entered through Newark without any issues.
Flew Emirates.
Thank you Nice one..Thank God for safe trip... did you stop in Athens? |

LadyGuinivere: My dear. Don't be quick to jump on. Read my posts . I mean post in plural. I don't have any issue with asking questions. That's why I and Several others have been here for over.... Several years.
I have been saying it and I'm still saying it. Some questions need research and " what is your opinion? " and "what are my chances? " solve nothing.
There's a reason why the "silent readers" have a higher percentage of success. They read. Take notes. Weigh all their options and throw out chaff.
There are questions that are a bit different and special... And also There are some answers that evolve . Like the fellow that asked about visa reissuance without using it. Before, it wasn't an issue. Now it is. But guess what? A quick scan of like 10-20 pages would have answered the question and give the seeker more depth cos he would be seeing live transcripts and not answers from guessers and folks that have no visas. Then there are the common questions that are literally on every page.
Yes. I applaud everyone that has time to answer questions. But I ask u: Have you ever been lost and misled by "kind Samaritans " who directed you? Meanwhile you could have used Google Map.
So if you didn't get it. I'll break it down for you. I stand by my opinion, folks should always seek the best source of info. LadyG of life |

hajidel: Will you get through to the embassy for an interview without a passport if the solution of paying a MRV fee?
Yes if you can speak to an inside staff not the security staff you have a chance i can tell you that for sure. And its tough to get the consuls on the phone but you have to keep calling and you will catch a break and get to speak to one. And if you do get to speak to one, you will get your passport. Yes of course.... all you need is the visa receipt, appointment letter and ds160 confirmation letter... explain to them that your international passport was returned to the embassy. |

lighthousearc: They have been to the US Embassy and DHL 2 times, drove long distance to be told to send an email to "LagosNIV@state.gov" after sending several emails still no responds, they are going back there again tomorrow. It's really frustrating. I just feel bad for them to be going through all this stress at their age. Simple solution is for them to pay another visa fee and go inside the consulate office to retrieve their passport( No one at the Embassy will look for the passport unless they see the applicant), anything else is long thing. This is what I did with my colleague at work and it actually worked. It may sound silly and stupid but if they're not careful they won't see their passport for 6 months. On another thought... the solution to getting back your passport is to enter the Embassy (Consular Section) this is where they sort the passport, if you can get into the embassy you will get your passport that day. |

hajidel: I'm telling you $160 na plenty cash oo. And pikin dae come; plenty pampers.
Finances were very much a problem as anything else for this particular applicant. The figures didn't add up for them.
You can apply at anytime; But consider your circumstances i they have changed significantly before applying otherwise the outcome is likely going to be the same.
Whats N10M in USD? Thats a lot of cash. Upwards $20k. Pheeeeew.
Even a VO will reconsider his options cos spending $20k on a disney trip or any trip for that matter; man you must be loaded and your bank balance and net worth must be heavy; US needs people like you; I forgot to include UK with the trip as well... They visited both US and UK. |

OmoBendel24: Are the Abuja/Lagos NIV bosses "Nicodemusly" back on this our thread ?
Oh well, AOS brother's mum will hardly ever get that visa, particularly if his name appears on anywhere and at any stage during that her application.
My Disney World family, your budget didn't cut it. Most likely too, your communication during the interview could have sent some message, even for as little as not saying things from your mouth just as stated in the DS160 form you signed off.... Previous contributors have done you well with their contributions, build something from there.... I know someone that spent N10M on such trip... I got his ticket for N5.4M and more than N1.3M for Airbnb...apart from feeding, shopping etc and as for the VO, I believe he works at the embassy not sure he's a VO. |

Beautyaddy: The highlighted responses might have been a number of reasons for the visa denial.
I want to believe that this a family of four to five? The total cost of your trip as a family to visit Disney Worlds in Florida is a joke ...to say the least. Flight alone is N4M while accommodation and feeding will cost nothing less than N500,000.00 $6000 is not enough. |

hajidel: Depending on the workload they can reschedule interviews at their discretion.
Preparation is key and lack of preparation will see you as careless or over confident.
Anyways, get as much of your employment and financial documents in order as well as documents on the conference (confirmation, invite etc). Documents though are rarely required as evidence, the interview will determine your eligibility.
Renewals need to go through the scheduling process as well not the same as new applicants as some countries (nigeria included) have the option of dropbox to expedite processing if visa is expired within the last 12 months and you are applying for the same class of visa that has expired. What I'm trying to tell him/her is that, they should wait till the visa expire if not she/he will be invited for interview at the Embassy instead of qualifying for dropbox. |

Anewdawn: I just landed in Newark with Asky airlines connected from cote d'ivorie with ethopian airlines. Both flight was good. Asky is a smaller aircraft, but good in flight services. Ethopian airlines i would rate the best african airlines so far. In the spirit of giving back to the house, lemme share my port of entry transcript.....
No much questions was asked.was asked how long I plan staying i said 3 weeks. He now said I'm going to Irvington right?, I replied yes because that was what I filled in the paper at Lagos boarding counter. He now asked again who stays there, family or friend, I told him a childhood friend. He said ok. He asked again how many times have i been to the US, i told him. Meanwhile I was accompanying an elder woman that approached me at los airport she asked to tag along with me since this is her first time travelling and she doesn't know her left nor right.. So me and the woman went to the same counter at once. He asked who the woman was to me. I told him. He said ok. Asked the woman who invited her she said her younger brother. That's all. He now stamped and signed our both passports. And didn't indicate any dates , i now asked one woman that travelled with us too that how come no date on our stamped entry, she said her last visit was the same thing that it was just stamped and she stayed for 5 months before going back and she renewed her visa again with out any issues. Nice one bro... I noticed that while mine was stamped in, the exit date (6months) was boldly written on my passport page as well. |
