PoliticsRe: BOTCHED DIPLOMACY AS Saudi-Arabia Deports 510 More Nigerian Women Pilgrims!! by seyibrown(f): 2:16pm On Sep 28, 2012
Hajj is only one of the 5 Pillars of Islam. You don't have to be government sponsored to go. If you can't afford it, you don't have to go. The amount spent on these unnecessary religious pilgrimages could be used to better the lives of the ordinary Nigerian. Let those who can afford to go out of their own pocket go.

We have plenty of devils in Nigeria that need stoning why go to Saudi to stone the Devil when you are gonna come back home to find him waiting at home. Poor Devil's been getting stoned for donkey years.... grin grin Even the rich ones that go to Mecca/Jerusalem out of their own pockets still come back home to loot Nigeria!

Maybe we will find out in the end the real reasons why this deportations took place amongst the various reasons being given.

Last opened mine in February ... and was wondering last week whether my screenwash was connected to some gigantic remote reservoir, having never topped it up since February. I largely rely on the dashboard to show warning lights if there are problems, as I would not really have a clue what to look for under the bonnet! I do make a point of checking my tires before any non-local journeys though.

Why do some people equate this news report to 'ridicule'? huh When the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to hospital, it was covered in the news and reported in the Papers in the UK (and maybe overseas soon). If our First Lady is ill and in hospital, nothing is wrong about it being published. The hush hush about this illness, I think, is only the secretive attitude of Nigerians when they suspect the illness is 'not ordinary' and they are trying to keep the news from those who wish the lady evil. Nobody is 100% loved or hated. No matter how good one is, one will still have haters.

Whatever ailment the First Lady is suffering from, she is not the first person in the world to have it. She is lucky that the resources to get teratment for her ailment. Many Nigerians die at home from all kinds of ailments due to the standard, availability, accessibility and affordability of quality healthCare in Nigeria.

I wish the First Lady and all ailing Nigerians quick recovery.

afam4eva: Let's leave what the bible did not say and focus on what it says. The bible also didn't say the kind of cloths a man and woman should wear during their wedding, but people wear anything anyway. Stop playing games with the bible biko.
The Bible DOES SAY that a Man should love his wife as Christ loved the church! You missed the bit where I said 'beating your spouse is not part of loving and hounouring them'? The Bible does not expressly or otherwise instruct one spouse to beat the other. Love & Honour is the code!
FamilyRe: We Have A Big Violence Problem In Nigeria by seyibrown(f): 5:39pm On Sep 27, 2012
afam4eva: So, the bible that says that under no circumstance should a man and woman be divorced except for infidelity is African tradition too, okwa ya?
Bear in mind that the Bible does not say anywhere that you should be violent with your spouse. Beating your spouse is not any part of loving them and it is not expected of a Christian. The Christians that are being told not to divorce are expected to have been loving and honoring each other. If you love and honor your spouse you wouldn't be violent with them or cheat on them!

Any spouse being abused should seek temporoary sanctuary away from their abuser until the abusive spouse gets help for his/her problem.

Christianity EtcRe: Do Dreams Tell The Future? by seyibrown(f): 11:57pm On Sep 25, 2012
Dreams do tell us what will definitely happen in the future. Dreams do warn us of what will happen in the future if not prayed about.

@Omo Alata: Psychological, emotional and spiritual matter and needs to be tackled from all angles. The Devil is taking advantage of the psychological and emotional problems. Pray PS 133 in addition to your other prayers. Pray for the salvation of her Soul most importantly. Let her know you love her. Lots of people out there who are not 'witches' but just say, think and wish things out of anger/pain and the devil takes the opportunity.

This is an advice offered to King Solomon's son (i.e. Rehoboam) to say.

Why or what is the significance of the reference to King Solomon's appendage?

What are the advisers implying concerning King Solomon?

Which of the translations is closest to the original text considering some translators attempt at trying spare blushes or clean up the bible.
Had a quick look at several versions and can only see 'Loins' and 'Waist'. What 'version' are you referencing? smiley

IslamRe: Al Qaeda In Yemen Urges Muslims To Kill U.S. Diplomats Over Film by seyibrown(f): 7:02pm On Sep 16, 2012
Considering that according to Islamic holy books 'Allah did not make us all Muslim (he could have done so but did not do so)'; that there is no compulsion in religion; and that Islam is a religion of peace, the actions of those muslims who killed people and caused damage to property in response to the anti-islamic film does not make sense to me.

Since Allah did not make everyone Muslim, then there will definitely be people who do not care for Allah/Islam/Mohammed. Since there is no compulsion in religion, you should not force does people who do not care for Allah/Islam/Mohammed to do so; and if Islam is indeed a religion of peace, why did those peopl go out and murder people who absolutely had nothing to do with the production of this film? Surely a 'peaceful protest' would have been in line with the Islam that truly peaceful muslims try to present to us everyday.

Why should people who had absolutely nothing to do with this film be murdered because someone who does not care for Allah or Mohammed produced a film that is in line with is non-belief? Afterall, Allah did not make the film producer Muslim in the first place, and there is nothing that anybody will say or write about Mohammed that will change who Mohammed really was as documented by the Quran + Hadiths. At this rate all it takes is a rumour that someone has done/said/written something 'insulting' about Mohammed for innocent people to get killed.

Christianity EtcRe: Lets Talk; Christians Dating Unbelievers. by seyibrown(f):
musKeeto: What's amazing is how y'all think that it's only Xtians that remain celibate till marriage... That's a complete fallacy. Xtians are just better at pretending.. So if u're going into a relationship cos u want to remain virtuous, I wonder what would happen after all 'the knowing'...
I do NOT think that ONLY xtians remain celibate till marriage ... and I never said so in any of my posts here. It would be a very silly and untrue thing to say. smiley For some people, keeping themselves until marriage comes natural to them, some apply a little restraint and others have to apply lots of restraint, while for others lots of restraints (physical, emotional, psychological, religious) are put on them by others to ensure they remain virgins whether they be xtian or not!

Not being unequally yoked with unbelievers is a position that should be applied across all areas of our lives. For example, Why would I as a xtian want to invest in a PppORN video production business? Why would I want to allow my Married friend bring his GF to my home for Extra-marital runs? As Xtians we are 'in this world' but are called 'not to be part of this world'.

Guitarlife: stop rationalizing and please give biblical references. I already did to back up my own claim. You may not realise but what you are teaching without sound biblical references is called heresy.
God's ways are far from our ways just like the earth is far from the earth. I'm sure if you were prophet hosea, you would have rejected God's instruction to go marry an harlot abi ?
It's not about how you feel, it's about whatever God tell's you. He can ask you to marry an unbeliever just to prove a point. Bible says while we were yet sinners christ died for us, and the same bible compares the relationship between God and the church to that of husband and wife. So do the maths.
If God calls you to marry an unbeliever, fine! Hosea was called, he knew his calling, and stayed in his calling. Hosea did not have a fantastic marriage while his wife was awhoring but he knew what he was suffering for. Oh yes, he did! He knew God had a plan. God was demonstrating his love a 'whoring' Israel. While on the matter of what God instructs people to do; Do not forget that some people claim God instructed them to have sex with church members who come to them for deliverance! Some people claim God tells them to beat the witchcraft out of vulnerable women and children. Some people even claim God tells them to love children in a sxxxxual way or have sxxxxx with people of the same gender! Just be sure you are hearing God correctly if you are being called to marry an unbeliever.

If you feel you are not able to connect my position to biblical/spiritual positions, yhy not do some digging yourself? I don't need people to give me bible passages in support of what they are saying, that is where spiritual discernment comes into play. If I do not agree entirely/completely agree with their position or just curious to know more for future reference, I go search the Bible/ ask the Holy Spirit.
Christianity EtcRe: Lets Talk; Christians Dating Unbelievers. by seyibrown(f):
musKeeto: Classic 'something bad will happen to you' threat. Doesn't your Christ call people to freedom? What do you mean by 'crack in the wall'?
On a more general note, when the verse "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers ", does this also extend to Business associates, friends, housemates, classmates? Where in that verse does it suggest 'marriage and marriage only'?

Please no 'childish' responses..
I am sure that all over the world, there are lots of people who regret not having listened to the 'classic something bad will happen to you threat', like kids who were advised to wait for marriage before sex, kids warned not to dabble in drugs etc ... and the consequences of not taking the forewarning gets to be their teacher about how right the 'threat' was.

Your spouse has more influence over how your life goes than business associates, friends, housemates etc. You have a physical and spiritual bond/covenant with your spouse that is different from the bond you have with others. You can easily walk away from outsiders but not your spouse.

Of course, we have to deal with others who are not believers and do not share the same spiritual values as ourselves but we can to a greater extent control how much 'outsiders' influence our lives than we can control how our spouse does. Your spouse is that one person you have become one with, your other half and you will never being(error corrected)doing yourself a greater disservice in life than chooosing someone who has different values to be your other half! The body can never be whole when one half of it is wrong!

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers = Do not enter into a union with someone who does not love Christ as you do.

Please, substitute date for marry where appropriate below:

Born-again Xtians should not marry someone just because that person attends church or profess to be born-again. You must investigate to find out that their lives reflect what they profess, otherwise you will find yourself departing from Christ/stagnating in your spiritual life due to the influence of your unbelieving spouse (Re: King Solomon). You will be leaving your family open to attack because of the 'crack in the wall'. As life is not a bed of roses, When the time comes that you need your partner to encourage you in the lord, they will not be able to do that. If for any reason the union runs into problems, you will likely approach it like a child of God and they will likely approach it with all the ferocity of someone who is not a child of God; and you will take some serious battering.

Why marry someone who sees nothing wrong in fornication/adultery when your standard is faithfulness? Why marry someone who sees nothing wrong in embezzling government funds when you stand by 'thou shalt not steal'? Why marry someone who sees nothing wrong in 'correcting the spouse with a couple of slaps' when you believe that the spouse should be treated with all love, respect and dignity? Why marry someone who will not be interested in fasting and praying in agreement with you? Only a few examples!

Don't cast your pearls before swine. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Don't find out first-hand the consequences of marrying someone who does not hold Christ dear as much as you do! Do not marry someone who does not hold the same core values that you hold! It could in reality cost you your life!

Christianity EtcRe: Oyedepo's Slap Suit Goes To Appeal Court by seyibrown(f): 9:26pm On Sep 09, 2012
I am ashamed that Bishop Oyedepo has not apologized publicly (or even privately) for what he did publicly and that any defence of his actions is even being put up. If this is what he does in public, what does he do in private? If the poor girl had physical bodyguards would he have slapped her? I don't think so. I put myself in the shoes of that helpless girl; It was her against thousands and thousands of people in that auditorium, and she'll carry that emotional and psychological wounds of that assault until someone helps her find proper healing! What is stopping Bishop Oyedepo from issuing an apology ?? Pride, arrogance .... definitely not fruits of the spirit! He has possibly alienated that girl and thousands of others from christ by assaulting her and continuing to refuse to apologise. That ain't Christ-like! If justice took its proper course in this matter, the Bishop will be liable to pay compensation to the girl! We should not tolerate ANYBODY abusing women and children in the name of them being witches/wizards!
