Remember "thou shalt not lie"?
I did not stumble upon vedaxcool/Jon.bee's hostility to xtianity or double ID - I CAUGHT HIM RED-HANDED  grin  grin! We are no strangers to one another as we have engaged each other severally on NL! I have first hand experience of his 'xtianity- hating outbursts' when he finds that his Taqiyah-ing is being exposed! My point is that he posts such a topic as Jon.bee as he cannot post it as vedaxcool because his hypocrisy will be plain for all to see! His vedaxcool posts show how much he hates xtianity.

I don't have to explain global hostility to Islam to you - most of those who hate Islam do so because of what they have seen Islamists do! You will find that their hatred of Islam stems from their hatred of oppression! Fewer people would hate Islam if it does not force itself (and its practices)on others despite it's claims of 'non-compulsion'!

she would have been granted the visiting visa because she would have been made to prove she can pay for her bills when she gets into the uk. the excuse that she cannot pay for the medical bill wouldn't have surfaced at all. let's even scratch that. . . .if this woman had delivered just one child or twins, would she have made the same excuse that she could not pay? does that not destroy your theory that she had a motive from the onset? it seems to me you are more confused. . . . . .a lot of pregnant arab women stroll into this country heavily pregnant for the same motive of using the state-of-the-art facility to guarantee safe delivery. . . . .this is not new to visa issuing officers. . . .
coogar:
why the united kingdom are yet to embrace this policy is beyond me. . . . . .il support it 100%. let every female visiting visa holder start taking pregnancy tests. if they had done one for bimbo, she would have been sent back to her oshodi flat and no one would question her motives. if you cannot bend your head around it that the system is wrong, then i cannot help you.
On one hand, you say she would have been granted the visa if she had told the embassy was going to  the UK with the intention of having her baby there  . ,   on a Visitor's visa?? and then on the other hand it would be right to have sent her back if found to be pregnant. Which one you dey?  lipsrsealed  There is no denying the fact that she had the option of declaring her intentions and applying for the relevant SPECIAL VISITORS VISA (PRIVATE MEDICAL TREATMENT) but instead applied for a ordinary visitors visa, thereby, deceiving the issuing officer.

Preaching that as some people have been doing the wrong things for years and other should continue doing it is what has brought Nigeria to where it is today, and unfortunately, people like yourself will not be content until they see the UK become a 'Nigeria'. Many of our politicians are like you who have seen how to make a system work but instead choose to make it worse!  You may have been living in the UK before I was born but that experience has not spurred change in you. You left a corrupt Nigeria for better shores but the corrupt Nigerian still remains in you and you are infecting teh grass made greener by others with your poison!  Many of today's OAPs helped build this country by paying their dues. The NHS would not be there if they did not! Justifying and encouraging actions such as Bimbo's is just so wrong!

Dishonesty is dishonesty; It can never become honesty!

if you pay enough attention to the details rather than ranting in the darkrness, you would get hold of the story. her intention was to come here and have her child. no one is disputing that with you. unfortunately, her expectation of having one child was thwarted and she had five. five children that were premature and needed intensive care. . . . .if this woman had delivered one baby and billed £2000, she would have paid and none of us would hear or know about her. . . . .but as it is, it's not reasonable to ask a nigerian to pay £200,000 for medical bills. . .it's simply insane.
Really? If she had told the Visa issuing officer that HER INTENTION as to come to the UK to have JUST ONE BABY, not FIVE (which is actually to use UK public funds), would she have been granted the VISITING VISA? . . . and you still think it is lunacy to think she lied to get a visa and stayed to cheat the system? angry Aren't you a bit confused?

well said and articulately laid out. . . .

only a complete lunatic will still believe this woman came to the united kingdom to scrounge the system. . . .
Are you Bimbo's husband or the father of these quins?

Why do you REFUSE to see that she has BREACHED THE CONDITIONS (No recourse to public funds) OF THE VISA SHE WAS ISSUED?

Did she pay for her first scan in the UK (You claim she had no intention of scrounging)? Why did she not go home before the pregnancy advanced to the stage where she wouldn't be allowed on a flight? She continues her deception by claimimg she has no one to help look after the children in Nigeria when everyone including you knows that it is cheaper to get Nannies (if indeed familly/Neighbours/ friends won't help) in Nigeria than in the UK.

Sorry, Baba Quins
, people like you have NO IDEA the DISCRIMINATION THAT HONEST NIGERIANS + OTHER AFRICANS FACE in the western world because of actions of people like Bimbo (and yourself) and have never experienced the contempt with which some people will treat you (and everything associated wth you) just for being Nigerian or Black African as a result of what they have experienced in the hands of (or heard about) unscrupulous Nigerians + Africans.

. . .  when will Nigeria progress with people like you who refuse to condemn what is wrong but instead promote wrong-doing?  angry If the UK was built by people like you, there would be no NHS! If 200,000 Nigerians contribute £1 each, this bill will be paid. Unforunately, she has managed to drag our already soiled name in more mud by behaving dishonorably.

One way of preventing this kind of situations is to make available 'pregnancy test stations' at all international ports of entry. This can be set up in a matter of days and it will cost host countries less in the long run. Unfortunately, those who do not intend to abuse the system of the country they are visiting will suffer!

albadry:
That is quite a shallow statement, but I will challenge you sir on your statement. How could God be in heaven, or in you? How could God be any where? Isn't time and space (and place) a concept that is only known to us in this world? Surely the almighty creator is beyond such restrictive attributes such as place/space and time? Aren't you contradicting your very belief in what is "marvelous" in your eyes by stating that the very marvelous one is limited by such worldly attributes? Which brings me to the next point of treating Jesus, the man, the human, as God. How could the power that created the universe in a few days be limited within a human being? And why would such a supreme creator be limited to the mere body of a human? Why does the supreme creator need to be in a woman's womb? Doesn't it just sound ridiculous saying it?

Do not get me wrong friend, I'm not trying to attack your belief, but I am just extending a trail of thought to you that you may not have considered.

In terms of names (Immanuel etc) - I really don't think that is anything worth arguing about.

Peace.
Where, then, is God? Who/what stops him from coming down to his people in a form (Jesus, through the womb of a woman) they would understand? What form is God in? If you met God would you recognise him? Are you not LIMITING what God CAN do when you say he CANNOT come down in human form? Is there ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR GOD TO ACCOMPLISH (this includes coming into the world through 'the womb of a woman)?

I am not really suprised that many men here have said men cheat because 'men like /s/e-x + want to sample/conquer + their wives don't satisfy them etc.

What makes you think that Women too do not like sex? That women do not want to sample other men? Or that men satisfy their wives?

There is HARDLY any man who cheats that SATISFIES HIS WIFE in bed! He spends the best of his libido on women other than his wife!  . . . and then they go mad when the sexually deprived woman cheats on them because the hubby can only last 'one minute' (having spent all his energy on 'outsiders'), if he touches her at all!

Most WIVES need quality s+e+x, not just 'one minute roll on roll of' rituals! If your wife does not WANT you in bed or does not dress up/spice things up for you, It's because YOU SUCK in HER BED !!  grin  grin Forget what Nnneka your GF tells you, you are great in bed! WHAT DOES YOUR WIFE THINK ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE IN YOUR MATRIMONIAL BED??  grin  grin

Men who cheat do so because they are selfish and cannot control themselves!
Christianity EtcRe: You Need To Answer This Fig Question by seyibrown(f): 1:37am On Jun 25, 2011
But @ all did the Fig Tree wither immediately or overnight?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Immediately (Matthew 21:19) - "Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, "No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you." And at once the fig tree withered.

Overnight (Mark 11:14,20) - "He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" And His disciples were listening. . .20As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up."

Matthew 21:19-22

King James Version (KJV)

19And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

20And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

21Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

AND

Mark 11:14-24

King James Version (KJV)

14And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

19And when even was come, he went out of the city.

20And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

The accounts were given by two different people so it is possible that differences can appear in their accounts. The difference in their accounts as you noted is not the most important matter of the event. The important facts are:

1. There was a tree that had no fruit
2. Judgement was pronounced on the tree as a result
3. The pronouncement took effect

The lesson learnt from the tree is to 'bear fruit' and the other lesson that followed as Jesus explained to his disciples was that of 'asking in faith'.

Whether it withered immediately or overnight does not change the lessons to be learnt from the accounts, and I can not tell you why there was a difference in the accounts, as it is of no significance to me. They could have been written years apart. I do know however, that no two accounts of an event can ever be the same, word for word, even if they come to the same conclusion!
Christianity EtcRe: The Bible Is Full Of Immoral Precepts Than We're Always Ready To Admit by seyibrown(f): 12:54am On Jun 25, 2011
Patsey:
The Bible is full (though not exclusively) of countless immoral precepts than many are ready to acknowledge and accept. One such immoral act is DECEPTION. Even Abraham, the so-called "Father of Faith", was himself a serial trickster, who repeatedly told lies to get on with his life. What morals can one plausibly learn from this? Is morality logically independent of religions as some scholars aver?
Immoral precepts? huh The bible does not tell you to follow ALL the examples of the characters featured in it  . . . and you know that! For example, 'Cain killed Abel' is an HISTORICAL account and the fact that this account is written in the Bible does not mean that we should kill our brothers! How many Christians have killed their brothers because 'Cain did so in the Bible'?

The bible contains historical accounts of actions good and bad but christians know what is good and what is evil, and know they ought to DO GOOD, NOT EVIL - Yes, the Bible says to FLEE ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL! The Bible is NOT FULL OF IMMORAL PRECEPTS as the Bible DOES NOT INSTRUCT US TO REPEAT THE EVIL ACTS that were committed by those named. What you call 'IMMORAL PRECEPTS' ARE NOT 'PRECEPTS', as they were NOT SET FOR CHRISTIANS TO FOLLOW! There are no precepts set for Christians to go against any of the ten commandments AT ALL!

Christians look unto JESUS (the author and finisher of or faith); not Abraham, David, Cain, Solomon etc!

Patsey, I seriously doubt that you are a Christian  angry, and I think you have been gorging yourself on some book full of plagiarism!

@ OP

If you and your family have never really 'lived' in Nigeria before, and you do not have relatives who can help you when you need help, you do not have 'connections' (yes, connections - Police, Military, Civil service, Banks, even PHCN) plus a serious amount of savings, and a job (or a business that you are ready to give evrything to), then please don't come!

It is a lot easier for someone who knows the 'Nigerian terrain' to re-adapt when they relocate back or retire  to Nigeria.

Did someone say 'Cut your coat according to your CLOTH'? That might help your current situation in the UK! Have you tried moving out of London? Sell up and buy a cheaper property in a less expensive area (less crowded, free parking etc) where you can commute into London for work. Still, you know your own situation better than we do. It's getting tougher in the UK but living in Nigeria is no child's play o!

All the best, Bro!

A Texas-based Nigerian professor of engineering and his wife are baffled by how their daughter, an Emory University-trained public health specialist, has been trapped by the church and successfully set against her parents. They have been unable to reach their daughter. Several calls made to her were unanswered. “For two months now, we do not know what is happening to her. One of the group members anonymously told us that our daughter will not pick our calls because of the instruction from their leader. Our understanding is that she is acting under instruction from this prophet. Specifically, this prophet has instructed her not to talk to us purportedly because myself and my wife have some voodoo in our tongues which can impair her thinking if she should talk to us. This is what the prophet said his ‘god’ revealed through him in a vision,” the professor said.

Primary school was great. There were occasions of 'all-round' lashes when the class was noisy an everybody got caned, whether you were making noise or not! Junior Secondary School was great too! I was a brilliant student, and well liked! Wouldn't punish anyone of them!

My geography teacher caned me seriously once in S.S.2! I came in to school late because I was helping my one of my siblings with something . . . and he thought I had gone to see my boyfriend . . . my bum hurt like hell - He knew I had a boyfriend and he had seen me with him and at his house several times! 30 lashes . . . I 'dusted it' like a big girl on the assembly ground but cried a little bit at my desk ! grin grin My BF and his brother promised they were gonna deal with him! I don't think they did but I loved Geography and he was an excellent teacher. I did not hold it against him!

There was a notorious teacher called Mr Afunleyin! Most of the students hated him cos he beat the c/r/a/p out of anybody and everybody! God help your class if you couldn't hear a pin drop when he was creeping around! grin He ended up impregnating one of the girls in our year and was dismissed. I think he later married her or something!

I changed schools in SS3 and the new Geography teacher was so boring that I only attended 3 classes throughout the year. I lost interest in it and failed it in WASSCE - had a D!

I know where you are coming from but how many Pastors KNOW EVERY MEMBER of their flock that well? How many Pastors know that a particular brother or sister in their flock is a serial fornicator or has the tendency to be violent, especially where the flock is a large one? Pastors do not know everything (even most things) about every member of their flocck! Telling a member what the Spirit says is one thing, and matchmaking beyond that is another matter entirely. Many times, Pastors advise 'outside the spirit' on matters which their scope/experience is limted and preference/taste differs to that of the congregants who just take the Pastors' words as advised 'of the spirit'.

We all know how important it is that one marries the right person but we cannot be overly reliant on pastors to make our decisions for us, we need to rely on God more! It is not wrong to ask of Prophets and Pastors but it is important to be able to discern what is spoken 'in the spirit'.
