So basically u drove for 2yrs 2018 and 2019.
Between 2016 and 2020 before the lock-down... UBER blocked countless drivers for low acceptance rate. They always say go offline if u r not ready to accept trips/drive. That's why till today if u don't pick a trip d App sets u offline automatically. Why will u see a trip ringing and not pick it? Like, why r u online if u aren't going to take trips?
But for now that u get very long pickups, acceptance rate of 70% was not acceptable by Uber that time talkless of 40%.

Those things aren't there for fun...those days if u go below d set threshold of Rating, acceptance rate or completion rate, u will be blocked. Uber are now romancing their few drivers that's why this watered down strictness
Bros for Ur info .. I drove on UBer for a straight one year without having Taxify/bolt , I enjoyed UBer, was only blocked once and dat was my first month in d game( for high cancellation), since den till I hanged my boot, I was not blocked and I can tell U... I have had less Dan 10%,20% acceptance rate countless times.
Infact UBer can't block U for low acceptance

Truth is Uber has changed... You did be blocked tey tey with such a low acceptance rate if it were 2yrs ago. Don't brag, just be glad u r allowed to do that. U can't do this on Bolt.
Uber cannot block You for acceptance rate, get dat, I once had less Dan %10 acceptance rate and was never blocked, but U see Cancellation on UBer, don't joke wit it, dey will block you without a warning

You see why it's good to seek professional advice, by the way I have said it here when this issue of catalyst came.
Catalyst isn't necessarily for fuel consumption but Nigerians will be made to believe that once your car consumes fuel it definitely have to be catalyst.
Actually sometimes but very rare cases, driving a car without catalyst in Yankee is like carry bomb up and down( YOU WANT TO KILL)

Coming from mile2 you have to enter via iyana isolo bridge since the useless people refuse to open the bridge that takes you directly to airport rd.

The thing hard me to describe. Use the iyana isolo bridge to access the other service lane coming from oshodi then go through aswani RD to link osolo way. Osolo way takes you directly to airport rd 7/8 bus stop. Keep right climb the new bridge and it takes you to service lane facing airport rd.

I swear na the map dey carry people pass that one way. Always enter through aswani guys, going through that DHL takes you directly to that slope and the weyre cops will be waiting.
Lovely

VERY good bank. The problem is the attitude of Nigerians. A lot of people have no honour. They don't honour agreements. If one takes a loan, one must do everything to make sure the loan is repayed.
Actually when I was serving and very active on Uber, becos of Alawee and My PPA Salary, GT bank offered to borrow me close to 2M, I could not believe it, and again I was not in need of that money, but one day I needed money very urgent and within 10 mins, I requested 150k and less Dan 10 mins I got it.

Now fast forward, no PPA money, no Alawee, no Uber Money , just biz money and all, dey still borrowed me money, becos of my credibility and the way I am operating d account, the only difference is that instead of 2M RANGE, it has reduced to max of 600k.

Salary is important, cash inflow is important, credibility score is important.

After months, I mean months of searching for an Hire Purchase deal, I think I finally got one. As usual the deal is in millions and the vehicle is Tokunbo. The reason for this post is that, the car is Toyota Camry muscle with a 4 cylinders 2.4L engine.

Do we have people who use it here? Is the car okay for the hustle? If you are using it, how is the experience maintenance and fuel economy?

Experts help your person with info.
Thanks

No matter what do not allow that car to do overheating, once d car don do overheating, problem don start

Haha haha haha haha... This one burst my brain grin

Some of your riders deserve worst...

I don't do excess luggage, if your luggage is not handy sorry is your 2nd name. Even airways charges for excess luggage, danfo and Inter state transporters charge for excess luggage.

Now, you're not paying me for that yet you still want me to help you load it inside my boot? Pray it's not raining if not the rain go beat u tire because I won't even carry you unless you agree to pay an extra 2k depending on the distance because too many riders and excess luggage increases load on the car thereby higher fuel to power the car to yoir destination and more weight on the car components like shocks, bushings, tyriod, bolt joint etc...

Now, let me share two experiences within these little period of my break from here while i keep reading to catch up with the thread.

Was somewhere around Allen on Wednesday when i got this resq
The lady called to inform me I was picking up her mum from ibtc bank... I was just a block away so I quickly arrived, parked while waiting for the woman to come out believing she was inside.

Next thing, phine rang...
Mother: where are you na I've been waiting for u since (with a very loud, authoritative, commanding and annoying tone)
Me: still trying to be cool by trying to salute
Mother: where r you, I'm in a hurry and I'm at ibtc pensions, where are you? You're delaying me, whats wrong with you? Bla bla bla...
Me: madam will you shout up and address me with respect, by the way why are you shouting? Do you know me b4? In fact bye.

I hanged up and cancelled the trip immediately as it as already gotten to paid wait time.

Daughter called few minutes later to confirm if I'd picked her up, sorry you provided the wrong addi and ur mum was sounding too rude... Request again for her with the right addi... Like she knows the kinda of mum she has she didn't even wait for me to finish she just hanged up.

Me, what's my own, I've satisfied my mind.

About 30min later, a lady called narrating how I was to pick up a woman from her office and how the said woman left an item behind. Begging for her contact.

Me I've already deleted the text mgs containing the number the daughter sent b4, asked her to call back since I've to trace back to find any of the contacts....

CASE 2
Last night I was somewhere in chevron drive seriously looking for a trip back home, luckily got one to oniru...

After drop off I got another to MMAI and was happy not knowing it won't end well.

Rider put in the wrong address yet was still claiming right and saying she input the her street, okay is your street of fadojo street around oniru palace, yes but you're supposed to be here... A man voice took over and instead of the idiot to talk to me like a fellow man with sense he was even saying worst than the woman... How sad I never knew women are more smarter than some dic.k head men... Next thing the idiot called me Stu.pid...
Me hoodlum driver na him U dey call Stu.pid... Ur own don finish...

I told him sorry sir, got the right street address which was about 500m away... Called him to come out... The idiot was bolf enough to come out with his ugly gf.... By then i was sitting on top my boot with my wheel spinal on my hands. As the came out...

Me: you're so so and so person right? My rider?
The lady responded, yes! Was about shouting I quickly cut her off...
Me: who was the guy on the phone.
The guy answered it me, this time with a cool voice after seeing my tuch appearance and my ride...

So na I be the fool dey call ur papa, ur generation stupid abi? I reviewed my wheel spinal from behind my back where I was hiding it... Walking towards him... Omo na so the girl stepped back the guy too took 2stepz back quickly too...

Me: ogun go kill you for calling me stupid, devil punish that ur black lips... Fo.ol! Next time try am again.

I entered my car zoomed off!

Both of them where frozen didn't even say a single word.

Case 3...

I think Felicity001 is right, took a lady to the mmia, she was in a hurry as her dad forgot his passport at home, we got there ended the trip fare was 1100, she asked i take her back, told her to re-order as I was chasing a bonus, I accepted and zoomed off, didn't even swipe arrived, got to her destination, opened my phone to see that I hadn't started the trip, I arrived and started trip, ended immediately, and fare was 1k. So it's quite possible felicity is right.

For doubting Thomas's
He is right... Bolt app of last 3 months is different from d new upgrade... Now is based on estimate and most drivers beat d system with Dis wait tym

Riders are wisening up grin... Wow! See shaka na
You go fear fear.

Take for instance, a trip from lekki to ago Palace rd
Distance: 20km
ETA: 2hrs

They arrive normal normal, rider comes in maybe after 10min

Driver: good evening
R: sorry I took time to come out
D: no problem at all, can we go now?
R: yes pls

They bring up a discussion to distract the passenger so they don't notice weather they're starting the ride or not.

Half way into the ride
D: oh I forgot to start the ride
R: oh, sorry hope this won't affect you money
D: don't worry its fine
(lies, you know that rat with long mouth, it's blows breeze into your leg whereas it's eating you deep inside)

Wait time had already gotten to about 1hr+
The way bolt is program is irrespective of where you start the ride it will still calculate the exact km estimated for the trip but now the paid wait time would have shoot the trip fare higher than estimated.

End of trip, rider won't even want to argue the price again even if it exceeds the estimated price because they must have been thinking in their minds they where short charged since trip started half way not knowing baba has played a fast one on them.

Rider will still tip driver and still give him 5star rating believing he's a good person but actually driver is an inkapy rat (the rat with the long mouth)

Now tell, me why God in heaven will not punish such a wicked and heartless people?

Ha! Busted

Shame on u guys...u know yourselves.

I have always been right about u guys, u claim it's because u dont want government or enforcement to know how much we make, hence the frowning on dashboard posting but deep down it's an envious resentment of someones achievements.

What's ur concern whether he makes his target or not. Is it not his target, did he collect money from u? Shebi he is making d money for himself and u r making urs for yourself.
It is witchcraft to hope and pray for the downfall of another man then gloat about how u said it will not work or be sustained.

This no be cruise...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I respected some of u, cos even though we don't agree on some issues we learn altogether. But this is completely unacceptable. And it saddens my heart cos I thought u guys were grown-up educated men. It's a faceless forum afteral and maybe u guys are just small minded illiterate people from the village that came to Lagos to hustle.
But actually no one prayed, all dey needed was for him to show workings, you and I knw dat in dis hustle, somethings cannot be sustained. I have driven for 32 hours out of 48 hours in two days cos I needed urgent money, but I can't do longer hours like dat for a week, so him bragging that's it is possible and sustainable is wat........

And for all dat called his name, dey only needed an evidence for his claim.

When I was in d game well, most days b4 12 I am already on 10k but some days I will struggle to make 5k and some days I will send wake up late and some days is mechanical issues.

Can 1 make 1M in a month Yes.

And lastly U can say dis month I wanna make 2M and d following day Car will starts having issues upon issues.

I'm finally back on the roads again hustling after absence for over 3 weeks. I had an accident on third mainland bridge ,thank God for life, nothing happened to the passenger and me. But vehicle was badly damaged, I needed to spend close to 200k on the vehicle ,I.e whole body painting and panel beating. Note that I bought two new headlights and some other body parts of the vehicle.

I was on a trip when the Accident happened so I made a report about the accident to BOLT ,thinking they have some kind of plans for accident issues during trips on their platform.

Bolt made it clear to me that nothing of such exist, that they only take care of reported missing items during trips. They blocked my account immediately and asked me to do another inspection when my Car is ready.

I asked if at least they will give me a free Inspection after I'm done with the body work of my Car, and their answer was that there won't be such, that I will be responsible for payment of the new inspection.

I regretted ever reporting the Accident to them in the first place. My inspection report was still valid for another 3 months ,but I needed to do another one yesterday.

Has anyone ever reported an accident to Bolt/Uber and what was there response?
I once reported a case to Uber some months ago, though it was a robbery attack, and I zoomed off, but my car handle was damaged and passenger glass broken, reported d case and I was blocked too and was told to do another inspection.

My next message to dem changed the whole narrative, I told dem next time, I will gladly drop d passenger with d Thief and allow us to be dealt with. I got a call from dem immediately and dey said once I repair the car, I shud just snap to them the affected part.

I did and my account was restored.

But BOLT, hmmmmmm unless U copy there HQ, but for d ones in Lagos ,sorry to say dey re animals.

Good and detailed analysis, but we have to level the playing field.
Assumptions:
1) Both drivers earn the same amount every week.
2) Rental driver should be saving to buy same car that HP guy is paying for.
3) Spend roughly same amount
4) 6days work a week

Now that field is leveled let's compare.

Gross 150k/week about 25k minimum a day
Net (of fuel and commission) is 90k/week

Rentals fee 30k Balance 60k
HP Fee 35k Balance 55k

Deduct living expenses of 30k/week for both men
Rentals Savings 60-30= 30k/week
HP savings 55-30= 25k/week

Now let's assume servicing and repairs gulps 20k every month. That amounts to 240k a year. (U did this analysis on shocks, linkages, hub etc some time ago)

At the end of Year 1
Rentals guy has 1.5m - 120k(half of repair cost)
HP guy has 1.250m - 240k

Savings at the end of year 1
Rentals guy 1.3m
HP guy 1m

What are the lessons?
So at the end of Year 1, rentals guy has 30% more cash than HP guy.

Assuming price of d car doesn't change in the next 1yr...Rentals guy buys his own car and saves more since he no longer pays rentals fee.
A few more months HP guy can also afford another car. Even while still paying for the first car.

You see that first car that was direct tokunbo used and managed by the HP guy, d rentals guy will need prayer and fasting to get a 1 or 2yr used and well maintained car to buy at that price.

Don't go for a very expensive car if u want to do HP.
Bros you re Wise ,I swear.

U actually highlighted something.

If HP guy too saved like rental, by 2nd year plus he will have two guys(the HP car and money from his savings).. if and only if all d conditions were ideal as stated for both parties

CheerfulGiver:
Hire purchase is slavery, and a scam.

I'm going to factually analyse this stuff again for the last time, then anyone who goes ahead to get a hire purchase is free to do so at his own risk. I'll be using the bread and butter of every average uber driver, the 2006 Toyota corolla.

Fact 1
There is no higher purchase on a corolla that is less than 4,000,000 naira, unless it is by the special grace of God, the almighty.
Fact 2
Average weekly rental on a corolla is 30,000 naira, while weekly deposit on a HP is 35,000 naira.
Fact 3
A guy on HP must deliver 35k weekly unfailingly, with a 2 - 4weeks grace of delay in payment, and he must do so in 110 weeks.
Fact 4
An average driver must do 1000 miles a week of driving.
Fact 5 A driver on HP is responsible for All repairs on that corolla, for the next 110 weeks. While a driver on rental splits repairs with partner.
Fact 6 Every driver must be able to save 6k daily. Whether rental or HP, else you're just a fool.

Fact 7 A very good Tokunbo corolla should come with at least 170,000miles.

Now, there are 52 weeks in a year. Our HP driver has at least 2 years on his contract. Let's say he works for only 50weeks, cos partners will never hear story, he must always pay his installment. In fact, moove will not hear story, but I'm just trying to be conservative.

In 50weeks, he would have remitted 50 x 35,000 = 1,750,000 and added 50,000 miles to the corolla and car is not his yet. His mileage should now be 220,000 miles

Remember the guy on rental, who pays 30k weekly, and who saves 6k daily? With the mentality of a hard working HP driver, but paying 5k less every week, he has a savings of 47k weekly.

47k x 50 = 2,350,000

So if my guy on rental gets a Nigerian used corolla at 220,000 miles, at the rate of 1.6m, he still has 750k to fix up car with.

Year 2, HP guy completes his payment, car is at 270,000 miles. Becomes his.

Former rental guy now adds 15k weekly to his savings, since he now drives his car 62,000 x 50 = 3,150,000.

Who really get sense?
Lovely analysis

From my understanding from this thread, if you have a set goal (to buy your own car) use Rental instead of HP, but you must be disciplined enough to save as you earn

Rental comes with less expenses. the Drivers bcus he shares responsibility with the partner for car repair and maintenance

on HP the driver is 100 percent responsible for repairs and maintenance and also pay his returns weekly

like some will say here, Do what works for you
Hmmm d word "DISCIPLINE" HMMMmmmm
