divide and concur. this goodluck jonathan is really showin his political mettle. I'm oddly impressed. |
in the whole time i've been visiting this site, this is the first time i've seen nigerians (north and south) come together on anything. interesting. but i believe the move is the right one. goodluck jonathan has proved himself to be a strongman. i hope he stands firm. what is fueling the anger is infact the impression (or is it concrete knowledge?) that corrupt politicans are milking nigeria dry. Make the fight about that, not about subsidy removal. Cus as at now, the rest of the world is really not that sympathetic to your cause. Make the fight about corrupt politicians and you really have a movement the rest of the world can rally behind and support. |
The london Met police probabaly approved this rally to use it as a training ground for some of their less experienced recruits. should these protesters try any funny antics, they will be beaten senseless. mark my words, and nobody would even blink. a bunch of illegals 'disturbing the public peace' i'm sure immigration would also be on the ground to get a headstart on their 2012 deportation numbers |
lovely thread. the nigerian head scarf (i'm just now learning of the name gele) is my favorite of all head coverings african women wear. it's graceful, stylish, and elegant in equal measure. I think younger nigerian women taking an interest in the gele has contributed to the stylishness of the scarf. In Ghana, where i'm from, head scarfs are typically worn by older women. Most young girls would not be caught dead in a head scarf. they prefer to showcase their weaves as a result, the ghanaian ones look bland. Judging from the 70s pictures i'm seeing here, perhaps this used to be the case in nigeria too. i think more african women should adopt the nigerian head scarf. it could become the quintesential african fashion statement. A way for our women to wear their african-ness with pride and style. |
what is your definition of "yakking" when you are speaking in a public forum, try to use mainstream language. not all of us are from the ghetto. bytch pls |
that is no kidney disease. that is a pure beer belly. you see it all the time in villages. and i don't go around looking for beautiful men, but i certainly know an ugly man when i see one. One's eyes can only take so much abuse. |
@guy in brown shirt - wtf? there is nothing quite as grotesque as a skinny man with a pot-belly. why are most middle aged nigerian men so ugly. i can 't remember the last time i saw a middle aged nigerian man who could be described as good looking by anybody other than his mother. the young nigerian guys i see are descent looking but why do they age so bad? bad diet? too much alcohol or something? |
Lol, so i guess u believe that all the black people in libya are mercenaries right? Even this week when the gunfight broke out in Tripoli, the rebels ran around pulling blacks out of cars and their homes saying they were mercenaries.i guess YOU believe everything you hear from pro-gadafi channels. If they thought all blacks were mercenaries why would they be fighting alongside blacks. watch the footages on tv of the celebrations. several of the rebel fighters are blacks. does that seem like a group going around every black person they can find? |
Fools. Do you people know more about Libya than the Libyans themselves. They had a sadistic despot for a leader and they removed him. What's your business. Do you know how many innocent people Qadafi killed? Do you know how many masacres he ordered. so what if he gave a couple of millions to some poor african country? "the evil that men do lives after them. the good is oft interred with their bones" So shall it be with Qadafi. And what "african vision" are you people talking about? Speak for youselves if you need direction on what your vision should be from Qadafi. The majority of us don't. Do you know what his vision for africa was? Have you read his nonsensical so-called "constitution of africa" otherwise called "green book". His vision of africa was essentially one big islamic caliphate with libya and him and the helm. Rubbish. who is qadafi to direct africa's futures. |
The Nigerian Enigma. How can a people profess such religiousness and yet their society filled with so much malice. fascinating. |
Posted by: tpia@America is a land of Immigrants. As such everybody can trace their ancenstory to someplace other than America. It's not significant. That somebody can trace their great great grandparents to the carribean does not make them carribean. They are Americans through and through. All those people you mentioned are african americans period. show me one american who does not have their ancestory from somewhere else. except native americans ofcourse. |
Firs of all, I could care less if she was the lightest, prettiest, or most ethnically diverse person in the pageant. Someone asked a question about Miss Ghana. Since no one else aswered, I decided to answered it. Go re-read how it started then perhaps you'd see why my response was geared towards Miss Ghana. Second, had anyone asked a question about the ethnicity of the other contestants, I would have answered the question if I knew or heard anything that pertained to the others--I haven't heard any information or controversy surrounding the other women hence my response on the subject matter and the direction its been steered into. Third, all I did was point out what I noticed some Ghanaians complaining about. If you have any issues with the fact that I pointed it out then too bad for you. If you like, sit in front of the computer and give me all the examples you like. I stated the information that I knew. Whether or not I referenced Miss Ghana, Miss Angola, Miss Botswana or any other African or non-African beauty queen, I would have still commented if there was ANY controversy surrounding ANY other women of the competition. I don't know about other people but I have no bitterness towards towards my Ghanaian brothers and sisters nor any other Africans. Since I've been on this site, not once have I made a disparaging comment towards Ghanaians or other Africans on Nairaland--if anything, I frown upon such behavior when it comes the whole "Nigeria versus Ghana" nonsense. If other people have some kind if inbred hatred for Ghanaians then address them directly. The subject matter of this thread as a whole is on the African contestants so whether or not people choose to talk about all of the contestants or only one contestant is up to the individuals on the thread and how they direct the conversation. Last time I checked, Miss Ghana is contestant [even if it's by rebound or default] hence the reason why this discussion even exists. I'm not trying to come off as a hater or a Debbie downer. . . If I was, I would have been bashing ALL of them from the get go. This is a public forum and just like everyone else, I'm having a discussion.you're getting yourself worked up over nothing. my original post was not directed at you. i did not quote anything you said. infact i don't know what your exact comment was. it was directed at "you people" who were turning the thread into a ghana bashing thread. OP included. if the cap doesn't fit you, that's okay. sit on the sidelines and enjoy the show. no need to jump in if you say it's not your fight. why are you getting worked up |
No one is criticizing Ghana because they picked a half-white chick to represent them. What we are saying is that the sole purpose for picking her is because she is half-white, not because she happened to be a half-white chick who met the other requisites.and you know this how? you argue so stupidly. it's a beauty pagent. what other requisites did she not meet? why did nigeria select odemwingie to play for their team? the only reason he is in the nigeria team is because he is half white. not because he is half white who happened to meet other requirements. he has no connection to nigeria. he was not born in nigeria. he tried to play for the russians and was rejected. he was not wanted by the russians. and now he represents nigeria. thanks to the inferiority complex of nigerians. sounds about right? |
^^^ I did read the whole thread before commenting. maybe you should go back and read. the OP was the first to pick on the ghana contestant. WHY? Miss mauritius is whiter than the ghana girl. and why didn't you apply the same due diligence to investigating the backgrounds of the other contestants? why did you feel the need to check into her background specifically? she is not the lightest looking girl there is she? is she the only one who looks mixed? she is not even that beautiful so why focus on her? So what if was not raised in Ghana? does her representing Ghana means we have inferiority complex? Osaze Odemwingie plays for the Nigerian football team. He was born and raised in Russia and never lived in Nigeria before he started playing for Nigeria. Is that a case of inferiority complex then? I could give you more examples. My point is, when discussing Ghana, the tone is often one of bitterness, resentfulness and hints of jealousy. How did a thread on African contestants at miss universe turn to a ghana bashing thread? |
We need more information to really give helpful advice. First of all, what is your career. Don't just say IT. Be more specific. Engineering? management? sales? IT is a hot field in general but it is also very saturated with professionals. you need to know whether you can compete with other professionals in the field. One thing i would advice against though is moving with your whole family at the onset? especially if it's your first time here. You need peace of mind, and freedom to be able to hustle your way into the system. and yes, it will be a hussle no matter how comfortable you are starting out. Unless you have a couple 100Ks to smooth the transition. Best to test the waters first alone and then make your own decisions thereafter. Some people just cannot cope with certain aspects of life here and until you find out for yourself firsthand, you wouldn't know. Nobody can advice you there. Overall though i would say go for it. Life is hard everywhere but it's a softer kind of hard here. If you are smart, work hard, and stay away from some bad habits, you will have at least a comfortable average life. Your life is more in your hands here. But it's not an easy life. Good luck! |
@OP you are quite wrong. In fact, all of those factors you mentioned CAN be the driving factor of acne in people. fact is, acne is very diverse and unpredictable, but hereditary (genes) and hormones ALMOST always plays a major role in acne infections. diet can be a big factor too. |
when will you people jump off ghana's dyyck. haven't you had enough? every week there is one thread here obsessing about ghanaians. they are this, they are that. ANY topic with "ghana" in the title makes the homepage. the other day, one topic (about ghana fans coming to the cancelled ghana nigeria game) repeated 3 times on the homepage. obsessed much? you post a topic with similar looking girls and single out the ghana girl for criticism. they say we have inferiority complex? and then they go on to pick miss egypt and miss botswana as their favorite? look at your own miss naija, is she dark skinned? ask the average nigeria guy to list his preferred features in a woman and 70% will have light skinned in their list. and yet, you overlook all these and scream ghanaians have inferiority complex at every opportunity? how? show me a list of how we have inferiority complex and i will pick 3 more examples in nigerian culture for you. this is expected though. as the saying goes, the higher you climb, the more you expose yourself to scrutiny. BUT THAT'S NO REASON TO STOP CLIMBING. So keep hating. we'll keep it moving. UP! |
mikel obi, fengor ogude, enyeama, ideye and osaze have been ruled out due to visa problems or injuries.excuses excuses. NFA is afraid a Ghana team B is going to beat them so they have started preparing the grounds for the inevitable? mikel obi does not have a visa to the UK? what nonsense. doesn't he play for chelsea in the UK? |
Not to worry, Nigeria.you mean the same young players who went to the final of the last african cup? beating your eagles in the process? revenge indeed. we shall see. for ghana, this will be a routine training exercise. a chance to blood some of our less experienced youngers. to get them ready for more rigouros tests ahead. . |
Ghana is educating the next generation of Nigerian leaders. Mostly for free.come begging for access to our educational institutions every year. Because we are nice we let them in. We give them an escape from a deplorable education system. And yet, this is the thanks we get. But for Ghana, most Nigerian banks today would be bankrupt. Ghana does a lot to keep the nigerian economy afloat. Nigerians businesses are desperate to enter the ghanaian market. There is a nigerian telecom company called "Glo". Their licence to operate in ghana was pulled by the ghana government and their ghana operations was dying even before it got off. They cried a river. sceamed discrimination bla bla bla. The government of Ghana had mercy on them and let them back and now, they are dying anyway. Even nigeria's independence was financed by Nkrumah's Ghana. and this is the thanks we get. A rich Nigerian has not arrived until they have property in Ghana. That is the barometer your politicians judge success by these days. We allow this. And yet, this is the thanks we get. We let them live freely and they accuse us of unfriendliness. this is a lot like the ara against the americans. americans let arabs into their country and these arabs come and live in comfort in america but still talk shyt about their hosts. oh well, the world is not far. what can one do. |
Hahahahaha, I am happy to be Ghanaian today. Everything Ghana is gold in nigeria today. See how these people are all worked up because some ghana musicians parodied them. Throwing stupid useless threats about. It's time most of ya'll wake up and smell the coffee. "we don't care about small ghana" and yet, every little topic with ghana in the title makes the homepage here. why do you think that is? because the admin knows a topic with ghana in it gets the most views on nairaland these days? go through the homepage now and see if there is a more active thread than this one. "we don't have time for ghanaians" yet they find time to dig through the internet to find so-called proof for their disjointed arguements. "we don't have time for ghanaians. they are insignificant to us" Yet you spend hours and hours patrolling ghana chatsites. you are very well informed for something you claim not to have any time in the world for. Nigerians are so bitter now every time Ghana is mentioned. I'm curious, when did this happen? It's like they feel threatened. Ghana threatens to wake them up from their delusions of grandeur. and they don't like it. they'd rather keep dreaming. hahahahahaha. tell yourselves whatever you want to help you sleep better at night. If i'm walking down the street and someone shouts "short man", i won't even blink. Because i know there is no part of the world where i'm considered short. If the cap fits, it gets your attention. Some is busy posting so-called "facts" about Ghana. Rick Ross or watever, me run away? do you know what the difference is between "opinion pieces" and "facts" it's a pain trying to argue with people whose IQ is so far below one's. But the smarter nigerians are not interested in this shhyte. so i'm left to deal with the likes of you. you can't defeat one ghanaman on a nigeria website and you want to take the fight to a ghana site? hilarious! every so called 'bad' about Ghana you post, i can find you 4 more examples in Nigerian society. Go on, start now. |
Nigeria is Ghanas latest colonial master with the following reasons.Hahahahaha, do you feel better now? I don't even need to respond to these one by one. Because it's collective rubbish. and you know it. Anybody can throw numbers together and claim to be makijng a valid arguement. That's why there's such a word as proof. If you claim to have done all this research, show us your proof? But i will not even subject you to such rigorous standards. Just find me two nigerians living in ghana who are willing to back up your statements. Lastly, Replace the word ghana in your above submission with Nigeria and it wil be just as true/false. Come again. take your time. breathe in. out. start over again. we're waiting. |
@'Suwebge'.you can't compare that fabric you posted above to kente. it's just a cheap imitation. the kente cloth has travelled as far as the americas. ofcourse it's made it's way into nigeria. the fact remains, it's from ghana. period, nobody outside nigeria knows about this aso eke you are talking about. |
A reserve of about 600 million barrels of oil was discovered in Ghana in 2007. Commercial operations started late last year with a daily production of 160, 000 barrels. This is not all. Ghana is the second largest producer of cocoa in the world, producing over 20% of the world’s cocoa beans. The western African country is also the second largest producer of gold (its former name was Gold Coast) and has huge deposits of industrial diamonds and bauxite (aluminum).Foolish ramblings How has Nigeria helped Ghana? Have we fought any civil war for nigeria to send us peace keepers. go on, give me a list of these things nigeria has done to "help' ghana. these stvpid arguments keep making the rounds on nairaland without anyone bothering to correct them. But alas, you have met your match,. i have time for fools. post your thread and we will respond accordingly. I await anxiously. |
Dashiki, as you people call it, IS CERTAINLY NOT A CLOTH. Dashiki is just a style of attire. You can make any material into that. This attire style is neither unique or exclusively to Nigeria. It is common, i mean common, from senegal right to Cameroon. Throughout West African. The Kente cloth on the other hand, is reservedly, exclusively, Ghanaian. It doesn't matter where in the world you wear it, it is from Ghana. the Kente cloth is the number one fabric pattern associated with african-ness. full stop. |
So kente is not smart, not professional? You can't innovate? Nor be cotton and rayon?FYI, kente is woven. it's thick. super thick. and you don't sow kente into shirts or such. sure you could wear kente to a business meeting. but if you choose not to, does that make you ashamed of your culture? like i said before, does the japanese emperor not wearing a kimono mean he is not proud of his culture? why does hamid karzai wear a suit jacket over his traditional wear when it's cold? can't he drape himself in some blanket made from traditional afghan fabric? can't he make that traditional fabric into a jacket? why does goodluck jonathan not have his suits made with the same material they use for agbada? is he ashamed of his culture? why does he wear that hat and not an african hat? he must be ashamed of his culture. why does the king of swaziland not go bare-chested to business meetings? he must be ashamed of his culture? why does obasanjo wear shoes and not african sandals? he must be ashamed of his culture. |
Just listen to the useless ramblingsbut wonder who are this BASTARDS . DO they think they can insult our President Just like that. Some blinking APES that I'm very sure f.ck their mums straight in the Bottom!!. Common area boys ! who cannot even edit the English in their lyrics saying My President does what That does it, for all Ghanaians and My former Physics teacher MR Tedeku who stole and sold the imporrtant science equipments in my secondary and the f'cking bastard even have the gut to cane me when i confronted him and these things called fokn idiots says 419 is , Wish i have my hands on those "worthless things like a sexualy non discriminating female dog" (b'tch).ya, we got to the quarter finals of the world cup by only being serious when we play nigeria. and we got to the finals of the last african cup by "performing woefully to other african nations" right?? now your african wear is better than ours? that's the new argument? how old are you? |
even boxers knows when to look professional

Apart from electricity, there is not any other area Ghana can set or compete with Nigeria, Before i came to Ghana i used to love Ghanaian bc i thought they are our brothers, but this changed when i came to Ghana. Ghaians hate Nigerians with passion. This is simply bc Nigerians owns the best of every big company, supermarket, bank, airlines, estates, cars etc in Ghana. Ghanaians are low minded people, they are gutless and lazy morons. I am tired of Ghanans constant attack against Nigeria, so I am going to make a post about Ghana later today. I dont hate Ghanaians at all, but i hate the way they hate us inspite of all the way we have helped that country. This is why i want our leaders to STOP helping any African country. Just go to Liberia and see the way they hate Nigerians there, after wasting hundreds of millions of dollars, plus our soldiers that lost their lives fighting for Liberia.
