SportsRe: FIFA South Africa 2010 World Cup Draw - Cape Town by shesi(m): 1:55am On Dec 05, 2009
Group G offers the most excitment. 3 Potentially Classic games packed in one group. Brazil-Portugal, Portugal-IVC, Brazil-IVC.
definately the most dificult group. Followed by Group D.

Nigeria's got an easy group but i doubt they'll come out of it. Greece are Greece. They have had a strong team since 2004. On paper they're better than Nigeria. And on present form they're better than Nigeria too. and Korea republic is the strongest of the contenental Asian teams by farrrrr.

If you think you're gonna stroll past that group you've got another thing coming. It could be 2002 all over again.
SportsRe: FIFA South Africa 2010 World Cup Draw - Cape Town by shesi(m): 7:45pm On Dec 04, 2009
Nigerians, don't underestimate Korea at all o. Did i hear someone call them bushmeat? you will be very unpleasantly suprised.

Those Koreans play football like they run their factories. It's like an army of robots. Ghana played them and they embarassed us easily. they run around constantly. i mean constantly. you never have more than 2 secs on the ball before one of them is kicking at you.

too much of everything is bad.

RomanceRe: Me? Do The Dishes With You? For What? by shesi(m): 5:43pm On Nov 28, 2009
Walk five hundred miles? You must be kidding me.The questions are whether you have the option to perform the act, or whether you will face a severe remedy for failure to perform the act? There are big time differences. And most importantly, black people were treated differently from white people; it was unequal treatment. While white people could sit anywhere, black people had no choice but to sit in the back of the bus--they could not sit in the front of the bus; if they sat in the front they were subject to imprisonment. Here, the women has a choice of whether to wash the dishes, and her man has set a standard with which he applies to all his women, so there is no unequal oppressive treatment. The man has not said he will beat her up or choke her to death if she does not do it, so she is not facing any severe punishment for not washing the dishes.
i think you'll find that substituting "black people" with "women" in that essay up there doesn't make quite as much difference as you might think. try it.
RomanceRe: Me? Do The Dishes With You? For What? by shesi(m): 5:10pm On Nov 28, 2009
"Telling" or "asking" does not make a difference, as failure to comply will not result in a grave remedy. It is not oppression as long as she has a choice of doing it or not. Even said, she has a choice of leaving the relationship and finding another man. When black people were told to sit at the back of the bus, they faced criminal penalties or imprisonment for failure to comply. You can't compare apples and oranges, Mr. man. Get your analogies straight.
well the black man had the option to get out of the bus and walk to his destination. or take a taxi. no?

which kain rubbish be that ??, how u go expect my wifey to tell me say make i go wash dishes na shitty talk be that, maybe if i just feel like, Period!! NL girls wan dey act like whitey for here, enu done nearly forget enu origin as a BLACK AFRICAN DESCENT, some girls fit dey talk say i be village man or i dey work according to 60s system, but the world respect AFRICAN WOMEN because of their cultures and the way they handle their marital lives
don't be equating animalistic backward thinking to african values. maybe in your village. but definately not africa wide.
RomanceRe: Me? Do The Dishes With You? For What? by shesi(m): 4:56pm On Nov 28, 2009
Lakukulala. Wonders shall never end. So when did telling your lady to wash dishes become oppression?
right when you used the word "telling" instead of say "asking"

when did telling a black person to sit at the back of the bus become oppression? Answer: when you weren't giving him a choice.

i think it's time we start spanking wives who either refused to take home training or were not opportuned to be trained. What nonsense. The Bible is the standard anyday and i have never read anywhere where it says women and men are equal. A man is the HEAD and he is to direct, control, and help his wife/family. If a man goes in to help with the dishes, no big deal, but a woman demands that a man washes the dishes, "laifabada." Go tell that to your fathers, women without home training. Women no get sense again o. And all ya will run to church every sunday with ears but cannot hear. mess Civilization. That's the devil's doctrine.
you really need to pray for God's wisdom before you read the bible. otherwise you'll just be reading a story book. Where in the Bible did it say men were superior to women. is your head superior to your body? in what sense?

like i was saying. people who justified slavery and racism, and oppression of people based on their looks and color could quote all kinds of bible verses to support their actions. But today we know better. Right?
RomanceRe: Me? Do The Dishes With You? For What? by shesi(m): 4:39pm On Nov 28, 2009
What it the correlation with the opinion and the level of education?; in other words, are you saying the less educated men are more likely to demand more from their women, or is it vice versa? Clarify.
that's exactly what i'm saying! it's not black and white but for the most part yes. all i see if the correlation. i haven't taken the time to study why that is. but i can hazard a guess. the more educated and exposed a man becomes, the more enlightened he becomes. And the more enlightened a man is, the less likely he is to accept a status quo that oppresses a fellow human being.

And let's be clear, this type of thinking belongs to a time when women were oppressed. And it's not an african thing either. All societies that severely oppressed their women have this in common. Hindus, Chinese, you name it.

many of the arguments these guys make are the same arguments white supremacists made in the era of slavery. think about that.

the world moves forward. we make mistakes. we realise the mistakes, and we correct them. we don't continue with the mistakes under the umbrella of tradition. that's BS.

at poster

what is there in assisting your woman wash the dishes. i actually like doing the house work myself. i clean the floor while my woman lies down and read magazine, and when she is cooking i sit with her and after eating i wash the plate. it is called division of labour. she is not your maid neither is there anything wrong in assisting her in the house chores, after all she made the food alone and you ate out of it.  some men just need to realise this is 2009 and not 1349. nonsense
thank you sir. isn't it just annoying the way some guys still think?

the real shame is not that they or the women who enable them still exist. the real shame is that these men will be raising their daughters and sons to believe such crap.

@Shesi,
You be woman wrapper. Complete woman wrapper.
and you sir, are a complete idiot.

on the issue though, i notice a fundamental difference in opinion(and perhaps upbringing) which i believe is strongly correlated with the man's level of education and exposure.
Some men believe it is the duty of their wives to worship them and massage their egos. so to speak. i don't belong to this group. for those of you who do, answer me this; WHY? just give me 1 reason.

PoliticsRe: Spreading Rumors That Our President Is Dead Is Unpatriotic And Ungodly by shesi(m): 12:27am On Nov 27, 2009
actually i have heard a high profile gossip that the president of nigeria is either dead or his heart has stopped and he's on life support. this was contained in communique which some very important people pay very big money for.

i wish nigeria all the best.
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua 'has Heart Problem' by shesi(m): 12:10am On Nov 27, 2009
this is actually why i came to nairaland tonight. i was going to create a new thread but i guess i can post my info on this thread.

so here it is; the rumor going around on wallstreet is that the president of nigeria, umaru musa yar adua is actually dead. either he's already dead or his heart has stopped and he's on life support. apparently they're delaying announcement to stave off potential crisis in nigeria.

i don't know how true it is but this was contained in some industry "gossips" that usually comes around every morning so investors can make appropriate decisions. The firms that sponsor the acquisition of these infos spend a lot of money acquiring such information and in the past, these gossips have proven to be true. When Zelaya succesfully crossed back into Honduras, i heard it through this same medium about 12 hours before any of the news media broadcast it. Anyhow, let's see what happens.
SportsRe: Obafemi Martins Risks Financial Ruin by shesi(m): 6:00pm On Nov 21, 2009
maybe he's withdrawing the money and sending it to nigeria to build property or do business or something? or maybe he's investing it in another account?

that he takes his salary out of his checking account really doesn't mean much. there are several reasons he could be doing that.

CultureRe: Contest For The Most Beautiful Girl On Nairaland by shesi(m): 5:43pm On Nov 21, 2009
I guess that is why they have to say something about themselves. not everyone will vote just base on beauty, the comments that will be posted about them will be very important so contestants take note.
ya. "a quote of wisdom", it doesn't even say they have to have come up with it themselves. smiley what a deep insight into a person's intellect. anyhow that's just my opinion, i'm not saying it's better than anyone else's.

beauty is the component of one's image least deserved and least changeable through hard work. the only thing you are if you're beautiful is lucky to have been born beautiful. not much else.
CultureRe: Contest For The Most Beautiful Girl On Nairaland by shesi(m): 5:28pm On Nov 21, 2009
honeric01, are you daft? what is so difficult to understand abt this. she is  collecting the pictures now. when entry is over, she will open a new thread and post the contestants and their pics there so members can vote. what is so bleeping difficult to understand abt this.

and for what its worth i hate beauty contests. they are archaic, meaningless and counter productive. young girls should be encouraged to spend more time developing their minds not their bodies.

A whistleblower sent letters to the High Commission in Lagos and the UK Border Agency including specific details such as names, addresses, passport numbers and even a copy of the wedding photograph.
A whistleblower indeed. This is why you have to be very careful about your countrymen you meet abroad. especially the old ones whose lives are stuck. Complete jealousy.

I'm sorry but this is one 'crime' i dont really mind. A father just trying to get the best life possible to his family. And not really hurting anyone in the process.  Sometimes you have to bend the rules a little to get ahead. The politicians who make the rules themselves do it all the time.

And btw, OP, what is vomit-inducing about this story? did it mention anywhere he is having sex with the daughter? i assume that's what you're implying. Get off your friggin high horse

why can't you ppl just live and let live.

House, there is nothing wrong with eating animal meat o. Don't fall prey to any wild propaganda by these PETA types. they don't know what they're talking about.

hmm. there is a lot of stupidity on this NL forum. way to much. some of you are just daft. you think she just got up one morning and decided to have a sex change? i don't know abt UK but if you want to have a sex change done in the US, it's at least 3 years of psychological evaluation and tests. And yes, some people really are just born with the wrong gender. She was probably transgender from birth. Like Castor Semenya. Most of them learn to live with it. For some, the pain is just too much. nature is not perfect. these things happen. not common but they happen.

now to OP. this really is just the wrong place to be bringing this problem to. No way you are going to get any meaningful help here. Not only can we not advice you on whether or not to risk a re-transgender op, because we don't really know the concequences, People here will actually drive you to that suicide you've been comtemplating sooner.

like someone said, try to find a transgender help group. I don't imagine there's many, if any, in nigeria, so maybe you should head back to the UK. Or look for an online focus group to join.l And then see some professionals. This is probably just a phase all trans go through after the op. who knows.
RomanceRe: He's Asking Me To Pay For My Trip by shesi(m): 4:18am On Oct 27, 2009
^^^ yes. i get the feeling that guy is just trying to play a fast one on her. unfortunately i think she's too far gone to see reason at this point.

just see how they met. the guy asked her aunt if she had any sisters. first of all, when a guy starts asking a woman a question like that, he is trying to pick HER up. that was his way of testing the waters. trying to gauge her potential response if he takes the plunge. So it seems the guy was trying to pick up her aunt. lol. if not he would have asked her if she had a daughter instead. not sister. and the aunt did not realise what was happening and happily connected him with her niece thinking the guy was asking a serious question.

@OP. you sound like a well educated person. Dont go. Just dont go. Unless you understand the game he's trying to play and you're game too. and if so, keep ahead of him. lol
