Gbawe, the two situations are completely different. one involves trade, the other is an ill-informed, counter-productive, dangerous show of brotherliness and comraderie. of what consequence to Ghana's national security is the supply(sale) of electricity to Nigeria, IF we have more than we need? nada. the same cannot be said for this move. Infact, i was listening to Ghana radio on the internet yesterday and somebody made a comment that our current President took campaign money from Niger Delta big men, with the promise that when he wins, he will provide a safe haven in Ghana for them to plan and execute a final grand push for semi-autonomy (or whatever they're fighting for) in Nigeria. |
in life you do what you have to do until you can get to do what you want to do. so what if the man worked as a janitor. a friend of mine, when we were in college once spent a summer working as a rubbish collector. Today he works in Senior management at Chrysler. Dont judge a man by his humble beginnings. It is often those who have tasted poverty in early life that work extremely hard to make sure they escape it for good. besides, who are you to call it useless work when it probably pays more than your white colar job in nigeria. |
Easy are we not African brothers anymore? Have you forgotten the past and history? Nigeria has helped other african countries in times of need so why can't Ghana do the same?yes but these are not the kind of nigerians we want. first of all, they are not refugees. we would gladly welcome them if they were. We have a lot of liberians, sierra leoneans, and ivorian refugees here. Second of all, it is questionable whether these militants have truly repented. there are stories on this very website that show that they just took the amnesty money and are still continuing their activities. third, why are they being rehabilitated in Ghana for nigerian life? wouldn't it make more sense to rehabilitate them in the society where they will end up? the fear is that these militants have no intention of giving up their activities and will end up running away, setting camp in ghana, and planning their destabilizing activites in ghana. thereby negatively affecting our own society, even if non-intentionally. surely you can see why we're against this. |
This will never happen. There is complete and utter opposition and anger in Ghana from all quarters against this move from what i am hearing. Atta Mills must be out of his mind. Absolutely never. Why must we allow known criminal elements and destabilizers of economies into Ghana? Even america with their capacity to monitor individuals in their country will not allow a convicted criminal into their country. Why can't they undergo rehabilitation in their own country? Are they being rehabilitated for Ghana life or for Nigerian life? God Bless the journalist who brought this to the attention of the Ghanaian public. That Mills government should just wait. 2012 is just around the corner. we'll see who is boss then. nonsense. |
I saw this ad still playing on my TV in it's original form yesterday. Primetime. On CBS matter of fact. I don't think Sony has any intension of pulling the ad. It came on three time during one show. It's obviously a popular ad. |
Well guys, whatever the government did worked. Sony has changed the advert leaving out the offensive part. Click the link below for the new version:they changed it where? i saw that ad, with the originial 'nigerian millionaire' line on my tv yesterday. Primetime. on CBS. It's playing. and i for one think it's a very funny ad. |
@mccloud, maybe you didn't understand my post. what part of it don't you agree with? my support for tolerance or my being against homosexuality? i can't tell from your response. |
to those asking for source, i read it from the website of Joy Fm, one of ghana's leading news stations. @bennyboy - i think the high commision is right to comment. Such comments between citizens of the two nations may have existed for a long time, but this is the first time i have personally heard Nigerian government officials (high ranking ones at that) making such statements. So the response from the Ghanaian High commision there is perfectly legimitate. Didn't the Nigerian high commisioner come out to speak up against anti nigerian sentiments on ghanaian radio stations (as he put it)? have you ever heard such anti nigerian sentiments from ghanaian government officials? normally government officials are very tactful with their comments regarding other countries. |
i am a staunch advocate of tolerance and the whole "live-and-let-live" mantra. I am also decisively against the idea that Homosexuality has a genetic basis. None of the literature i have read on the subject has been able to convince me. And for what it's worth, i personally am against homosexuality. but again, i'm tolerant of people who are not. no one is infallible. The question here is; does the british government necessarily have to harp on about homosexuality to teach these kids tolerance? COuldn't they simply teach them to be tolerant of views/people that are different from them as they go through their lives. Afterall, homosexuality is certainly not the only thing that is discriminated against in today's world. As many people have mentioned, there are other 'bahaviours' whose practisioners can claim to be equally worth protecting - and they will quote all manner of theories to back themselves up. What happens then? this is a needless slippery slope. I would fight the move if i lived in the UK. |
Below is a letter from the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria to a Nigerian newspaper, appealing to Nigerian government officials to refrain from spreading falsehood about Ghana.what the high commisoner should have asked is why a so-called Giant like Nigeria feels the need to compare itself to 'small' Ghana. also they may want to know that ghana is geographically about 1/6 the size of Nigeria, and Population wise about 1/6 -1/7. SO the ratio of resources to population should be pretty much the same right? Wrong! actually nigeria has a higher resources to population ration due to oil wealth. So the excuse that Ghana is a small country and thus why we are able to do certain things Nigeria is failing at is complete nonsense. either your leaders are uneducated enough to genuinely believe this (not likely) or this is just another clever excuse to pacify the nigerian people into silence while they line their pockets with your money. is it working? |
ramblings of a poor person. please, if you could afford all that, would you do it? probably yeah? that somebody can afford to live like that doesn't make them high maintenance. it simply means they're rich. if they can't afford it and still insist of that lifestyle, that's not high-maintenance either. it's stupidity. personally my idea of a high maintenance person is someone who takes themselves too seriously. and for a woman, with a hint of bitchiness. as to your question OP, certainly!, girls like you describe in your post would certainly get more dates, all things being equal (i say that because you seem to suggest a woman who behaves like you describe has questionable morals?) in conclusion, the word you were looking for is 'fashionista', not high maintenance. change that word in your title and see if the guys don't answer differently. it's a source of pride to be walking down the street with a girl who's well put together. lol. me sef i have time o. see this essay i have just written. |
Quoteare you fakin kidding me? Ghana's group was easy? compared to Nigeria's group? you must be crazy. are you comparing [Mali, Benin, and Sudan] to [ Tunisia, Mozambique, and Kenya] ? I mean seriously? Mozambique? Kenya?? Sudan alone is stronger footballing nation than Mozambique and Kenya combined. Which european players are in the Tunisian team? don't even get me started on Mozambique and Kenya?Google how many Champions league players are in the mali team. When the draw was made, everybody agreed Nigeria's group was the easiest. Your only competitor was Tunisia, which is the easiest of the North African teams. abeg next time dont make that mistake. |
ok, more info on the fight. somebody's "people" wanted to come into the dressing room. one of the coaching staff said no, and went on to vent on the players bla bla. one player wasn't happy and talked back with the coach. at this point one player enters to defend the coach, and those two players got into a bit of a shouting match and light scuffle. nothing really. |
Are you sure you know? If you truly knew, you would tell us. nice try. but trust me, some of them are on nairaland so they can hear what you guys are saying. |
fill us in abeg, time to shame those dolts.don't worry. the whole team is ashamed enough from what i hear. besides, i'm sure most of them are familiar with nairaland. i know at least one of them is a member here for sure. |
i just spoke to one of your players on the phone. he says there was a fight in the dressing room after the game. i'm not saying who and who fought but it's not one of the "big" guys. |
Mozambique is a high altitude area which means most teams would struggle to perform unless move to the area 2 weeks before the, see what happen when Argentina played Bolivia! they lost 6-1 because oxygenilaugh. something about a drowning man and straws come to mind. |
I thought Nigeria won in 1994.this is why we dont let women into our sports bar o? |
Has Ghana ever won the World Cup?wats ur point? |
next time they should give the eagles red-bull before the game. RedBull gives you wings!! LOL |
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss And Ghana becomes the first african team to qualify. still undefeated. still no goals conceded. |
U and who? Lai lai not me. My dad is from the Ivory coast and my mum is ghanian.nice. but you have a dilemma as to who to support at the WC. actually, why chose. you can have the best of both worlds.lol |
wow. are you guys watching the ghana game? the noise is level is defeaning. i miss my country today. |
We know.it's not his fault. mourinho did this to him. and this is coming from a chelsea fan. don't blame mourinho (chelsea had plenty attacking midfielders), blame mikels advisers. i hear he rolls with quite a possi. manchester utd bought him to fill roy keanes shoes. and his greedy advisers advised him to shun that for 30K more a week. most chelsea fans really dont rate him cus for 20mil or watever he costs he's been shyte. |
you see essien and muntari the two scorers for ghana on the night. that's what big players do. they deliver when it matters. |
ROFLMAOWPIMPthat's why i can't believe he forgot. the only explanation is he might have been too young to remember? lol. you beat the Czech republic and the USA and that's a feat?we didn't just beat the czechs. we taught them a lesson in beautiful football. google that match. it's part of football folklore now. lol. and yes, i admit the 94 eagles team were awesome. it was after that you guys started calling yourselves super eagles. pride comes before a fall. |
At least we can boast of once being super before, teams ebb and flow with the times. When has Ghana ever captured the attention of the world at a WC?are you ffing kidding me? need i remind you who floored the Czech Republic (then no 2 in the world) and the USA (then no 4 in the world) at the last world cup. the czechs still have nightmares of that day in germany we made them look like kids. you may have been too young then. ask your dad. |
No shaking. Brazil thunked Argentina yesterday and they may as well not be going to SA.are you by any chance comparing nigeria to argentina? lol the south american qualifying is a different system o. argentina will make it. if not by automatic qualification by the best runner up spot. so don't console yourself with that. |
i beg never compare the amazing black stars of Ghana to your feeble so-called super eagles team o. nigeria had one of the easiest groups in the qualification and yet are failing. Check out our group, we still haven't conceded a goal. and we are qualifying with 2 games to spare. |
Support Ghana my foot . . . they are no better than Nigeria. From now on i'm an elephant.no problem by us. us mukina said, you guys are bad luck anyways. |
Thank God, we wont be going to disgrace ourselves at the WC. Time to switch support to the Ivory Coast.foget ivory coast. support ghana instead. us anglophone countries in west africa need to stick together no?besides, ivory coast haven't qualified yet. Ghana are 45 minutes away from qualifying. nooooooooooooooooooooooo please support another team . .we do not need your luckmukina you might be right. i should say naija should support the team ghana is playing against at the WC. but i have a feeling they dont need me to tell them that. |
? I mean seriously? Mozambique? Kenya?? Sudan alone is stronger footballing nation than Mozambique and Kenya combined. Which european players are in the Tunisian team? don't even get me started on Mozambique and Kenya?
nice try. but trust me, some of them are on nairaland so they can hear what you guys are saying.
