Nadanbata:there is no way kano state or its capital will be more populated than lagos. If u know how demographic is worked out maybe u will apprfciate my contribution here. There was excess material for northerners to cheat with and they did just that. The north has carefully used the manipulation of population figure to their economic and political advantage. If u r aware and can still remembe the 2006 populatn censor saw mass influx of pple from Niger and Chad who got counted multiple times and most eastern states where not having enough material while in the west there was low level of awareness/rebellion in some rural area. |

When religion truly penetrates a willing and honest heart, then we would be free these kind babaric acts staring us in the face. The captain and his crew must have used the ritual as a mere excuse to reduce weight of the ship to increase its control, cos i dont see how a crew of five persons with diverse background will agree on such a darft act in this age. It's just beyond my imagination. . . . Haba ! ! !. |

I can see this governor is trying to set a standard for all his peers, uduaghan, aregesola, adams, fashola, silva, ameachi and co shld take note of this nice concept. @op, Nice piece of info there . . . |
Another meaningful thread just went tribalistic. . . . I hope this one makes the frontpage for pple to learn . . . . .especially those ignorant ones who think one race or tribe is too "advanced" and "sophisticated" . . . . Bunch of Low-quality-in-high-quantity bastardds just like their commercial activities. Next . . . . . . . . |

realchange:smaller allocation to small land mass is perfectly normal, even when they contribute less income. This is normal practice all over the world, the logic here is that zones/constituencies with larger land mass need more to carter for there basic need like roads, health, water e.t.c. The more the land mass the longer the road needed to connect two locations, the longer the distance an ambulance will travel to get to a hospital or the more hospitals will have to b built to match the size of that land, and more pipes will be laid out/maintained to supply water as well to a population that is probably bigger. Where the injustice comes in is the failure of these constituencies to contribute more tax as a result of low level industrialization, as a matter of fact the low level of industrialization in these area is used to priotize the zone that gets more allocation. The summary for allocation formular is always a balance between population and land mass, example is lagos and kano. While lagos has clearly has more population and smaller land mass kano has moderate population (in reality) which they claim is poorer than Lagos and a larger landmass which they claim is less developed and is actually is, any govt be it Nigerian or abroad will consider kano for more allocation under this arrangement. The best hope for N-Deltans is a increased oil revenue allocation which is already at 13% and quit high enough for any serious govt (even Imo/ekiti state being the lowest are balling) to use to a great advantage. Niger delta has no real excuse for under-developement, if u still dont get it u can ask a jos/plateau person abt their own story with tin minning and its after effect. |
Hmmm . . . . . . . . . |
Subsidy has only changed hands for now, what the new hands holding it does with it in the next few yrs is another ball game entirely, the only breath of fresh air here is the possibility of a few hands amongs those holding it to truly utilize it for good of the pple. SWF is an idea from the pit of hell, it is only a matta of time b4 the masses cry out 4 one pressing need like power or health that will enable our politicians loot it in a blink of an eye. |
The way i see it is that corruption shld be checked by going after those behind our woes and special emphasy shld be placed on removal of duplicated functions in our oil industry, i made this second suggestion because we av too many inefficient hands our oil goes through b4 it gets back to us (the pple and the govt), the lesser the hands involved in oil resource management and processing the less corrupt hands will be involved and monitoring of the oil will be easier that way. A well managed refinary will take care of that to a large extent. Above all, some "system variables" like quantity of oil Nigeria uses and guantity of crude that leaves the country shld be established as this will solve a lot of problem for the Nigerian masses and govt. |
mikeansy:why not point out the place where i directly linked IBB to boko haram? u can't because i never really linked him to it, i only pointed out that IBB main tactics was a compromised-friend_or_a_dead-foe type and such a person is not beyond the idea of boko haram as a way of warming his way back to poeple's heart. Pls forget Ibb like i said earlier. Ur campaign antics wont work here. If ibb truly has any idea that will stop BH, he shld channel it to GEJ thru PDP or forget it. |
mikeansy:how matured do u rate some1 who kills any1 who does not agree with him? Same person calls himself evil-genius and you r here spilling IBB-Innocence crap. Boko haram is a menace today because they bring terror to pple, ibb was a greater one becos his own knew no boundary. I suggest u (mikeansy) wake up and realize ibb is a lost cause. |
Big B1:how can u suggest such non-sense? IBB used a combination of assination and bribery to achieve most of those quality u used in highlighting his "evil-ingenuity" above. He even helped create what is PDP today, so whatever PDP brings is indirectly from him. Nigeria will never need the likes of IBB again. |
Beaf:we all know how MEND av suddenly 'developed/get liver' because their brother GEJ is in power. OPC will hardly do such in sapele. They are not that foolish. The bombing goes to show how mumu-ish deltans can be. Why delta of all south-south states ? |
IBB Was feared because the way he killed pple and put fear in the remaining ones. I dont see any diff btw that and what boko haram is doing. In fact while boko haram is mainly in one region IBB's terror knew no bound. U may av been a neutral Nl all along but right now u work for IBB. mikeansy: |
He also left $30b in foreign reserves, reduced debt and beta economy |
As 4 d effectiveness of the selection process i wouldn't comment on that just yet. The same Lasu law dept. Claiming the best in Africa was heavily involved in collection of N30k bribe in the admission into thdt dept. In the just concluded admission excercise. Lagos state indegenes (both real and fake) with post ume score as low as 29 were taken in place of my non-indegene sister who scored 67, now can any1 tell me how such a dept. Can be best in the continent of Africa? LASU is a joke ! ! !. |
Middle belters are not only a remorseful pple but humble and sensible set of pple. They are doing what the ibos have refused to in the past and present, they av apologized and tried to make friends in time of need, i expect the ibos to come out and admit that they av lost some of their pple in the current violence unfolding in the north and make friend with those they av no business hating on. That way we can all move forward. |

mikeansy:same Ibb that killed anything on his way including prominent & popular pple, i dont see how any sane person will still come out and claim he cannot be the one behind boko haram. If u want to campaign for IBB do it in a smart way pls, u dont know nothin abt pple whos folks where hunted down for doing nutting against IBB. |
ezeagu:We are talking abt ibo folks on NL and beyond turning a blind eye when their pple are being slaugtered in the north, same ibo folks who will be shouting things like yorubas r cowards, SSners r sabotuers, middle-belters r reaping what they sow and the ibos r warriors when other ethnic group are being killed in the north. I heard the Kaduna attack that happened yesterday was targetted at ibo-christians, what r their brothers doing abt it? Or r they going to sit down and pretent its a BH-vs-yoruba thing also? Chai see pride. |
U will always know when mean pple speak out. Hw can any sane person compare japan to bia-fa-ra, when bia-fa-rans are known to attach themselves and their produce to china which in my opinion does not compare to japan. Keep deceiving urselves. |
luvola:was the thread opened to 4 pple to sympathize in the first place? The place was on fire as of the time d thread was opened. I tot it was suppose to inform us of what's going on. luvola:i expect u to put ur brain to better use, incase of next time try to read the post one by one to understand pple's reply and stop being retarded on a public forum for all to see. |
Chai ! ! ! Boko haram industry is a big one oh! |
noblezone:if he had seen these things clearly then he would av seen the attack on ibo-christian in Kaduna and died for what he claimed he truly believe in. |
These are some of the projects Nigerians are afraid they will be channeling savings from oil subsidy removal to. Thats N70 billion for a cctv surveillance camera network in Abuja alone. Same project of similar scale in Lagos and other parts of the world did not cost close to $470m, Nigerians say to no to subsidy removal. |
Reps query $470m Abuja CCTV contract The House of Representatives on Wednesday queried the $470m National Security Communication System contract for the Federal Capital Territory. A component of the contract awarded to a Chinese firm, ZTE Corporation, is the installation of Close Circuit Television cameras in Abuja. The Federal Government engaged the Chinese firm in the wake of bombings by the Boko Haram sect and other security challenges in the country lately. But in a resolution in Abuja, the House asked its Joint Committee on Public Procurement, Aids, Loans/Debt Management, Information Technology and Police Affairs to “investigate the level of compliance with the award and the terms of contract and determine if the execution of the project by ZTE Corporation is in conformity with due process.” This followed a motion by a member, Mr. Hassan Saleh, who informed the House that $399.5m of the contract sum would be sourced as a loan from the Chinese Government. “The Federal Government has made a 15 per cent down payment, which amounted to N70.5m of the total contract sum and has signed a Sovereign Guarantee to the tune of $399.5m to enable ZTE to source for loan from the Chinese Government for the project,” Saleh told the House. Besides, he stated that sub-standard CCTV cameras were allegedly being installed by the firm in Abuja, compared to similar projects executed in China, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Malaysia. “The poles used are very close to the ground, making them easy targets for vandals, compared to what the same company did in their home country, China, and other countries,” he added. One of the conditions of the contract set by ZTE, according to the lawmaker, is that the “contractual details of the transaction with the Federal Government should not be made public,” which implied that the project “is presently shrouded in secrecy.” The House resolved that the alleged secrecy surrounding the details of the contract was a “clear violation of the doctrine of transparency, accountability and infringement of the laws of our country.” Findings showed that the Chinese firm started erecting the CCTV shortly after the June 16 bombing of the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja by the Boko Haram sect. The project was said to have been sped up following another deadly attack on the United Nations building in the city on August 23. It was learnt that the project could also be used to monitor elections, verify the results and help in disaster management http://www.punchng.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=7121:reps-query-$470m-abuja-cctv-contract&Itemid=542 |
