@ wanajo, i know ur a big nigerian-german chemicals fan, u said it would be a good buy after the pull back. what does that meanhuhhuh from my calcs, its projected eps is 1.2 by year end so it should hit at least 20 naira, but its price is already above 16, so do u think theres any point in still jumping in.

swiftycool:
This currency change will actually better reveal (not change) the true poverty stricken conditions in Nigeria in the League of Nations.
What I mean is if the average Nigerian graduate earns about N4800, a year when compared to other nations outside, take the Uk for instance where the currency will still be much stronger than ours. Minimum wage earners earn as much as E18,000 (pounds not Euro) a year, while Graduates do a lot better than that.
oh boy, i must be in the wrong country shocked shocked shocked
PoliticsRe: Naira To Be Re-Denominated by shigidi(m): 11:56am On Aug 16, 2007
i think this is pointless. i understand what soludo is trying to do but the cost of doing all this is not exactly what needs to be on the top of naijas priority. like has been said earlier, the yen is 118 to 1 dollar and they aint redenominating.
and it isnt as bad as the cedis whose conversion is simply absurd so there really is no need for this right now with so many other pressing issues

@ easimoni, ur help is greatly appreciated as always wink wink.
temmie10, i think ur right, this insurance sector is funny, im sure there will be a boom in the next few months so i think ill go for a two way split between crusader and wapic .
however, from csls report, these are some price projections of some insurance companies though i dont know what kind of valuation tchnique was used.
lasaco- 4.20k
m benefits-5.50k
sovereign trust-5.04k
wapic- 10.99k
just thought this might help.

@ easimoni, i have another tutorial question grin grin grin
spaeking about using a prospectus to know if an offer is good or not, i was looking at access banks prospectus, i see their projected eps is 1.12 for 2008 and 1.54 for 2009. so lets say it has a p.e of 28 by year end(march), that gives a forcast price of 30 naira. okay, now looking at 2009, if we assume same p.e, we have about 42naira range. so my question is , is it right to asume the p.e range will be more or less the same which means u can forecast roughly the price of access in 2010huh? somehow ,it just doesnt seem that simple.the p.e range surely must change for an industry shouldnt ithuhhuh? and did they even consider if they will give bonus or not. pls help me out here.
secondly, as i asked temmie10 earlier, im kinda stuck when it comes to the insurance sector. can u give me advice on which ones are good for 1year time frame. its confusing trying to calculate anything in that sector for me.
thanks men.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 11:50am On Aug 15, 2007
plus all their p/e ratios seem to be quite high.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 11:48am On Aug 15, 2007
temmie10, fantastic crusader result! looks like the insurance sector might rally again pretty soon. personally, im confused as to which insurance coys are good buys. evry1 says mutual benefit, wapic or crusader and even continental re: . but i really dont know much in terms of their projected eps, no. of shares and all that. plus they seem to list new shares almost evry other day in this sector, what are your picks? undecided undecided

easimoni, whats really annoying now is the stock is now scarce, and has made full 5% for the past 2 days, hope i can still get in below 6naira. will just hope sad
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 2:33pm On Aug 14, 2007
i know their first quarter eps was 10kobo so it should hit that mark. plus the growth is about 100%, which gives it a very healthy PEG ratio, personally, i thought the report was a bit cautious cos csl stockbrokers had earler valued it abou 9 naira with three months time frame.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 2:02pm On Aug 14, 2007
temmie10, thanks for that. do u subscribe to zsl to get these monthly reports?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 1:27pm On Aug 14, 2007

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 1:18pm On Aug 14, 2007
@ easimnoi, temmie 10, how una dey, long time grin grin(4 days).
its the first time ive noticed any1 say anything bout c&i leasing like easimoni did. their half year result was very good with a high growth rate and even interim dividend although i was unable to get their current eps as at half year. i think its quite undervalued and should hit 10 bucks by year end.
pls i need to know whats up with this japaul po, in the vanguard, mr.jegede said mid september, why the sudden rush. pls holla.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 7:22pm On Aug 13, 2007

InvestmentRe: Stocks That Can Make You Rich In 2007 by shigidi(m): 2:05pm On Aug 10, 2007
@ easimoni, i used their projected PAT from their prospectus and also the one on IBTC stock select, which is about 18.6 billion, and i chose p.e of 28 cos of the rumored bonus and good divivdend
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 2:01pm On Aug 10, 2007
@ temmie 10, why do people keep raving bout fcmb, its p.e ratio is quite high right now and its projected full year eps is expected to be about 0.5 so it really cant go much higher now can it.
whats ur opinion huh huh
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 12:02pm On Aug 10, 2007
@ oshkosh, thanks for your help the other day on oceanic. what price do u see fcmb acheiving b4 its placed on technical suspension cos i think its currently overpriced(p/e ratio of about 34). undecided

slay kay, people are selling their fidelity cos theyve made profit and dont want to wait for another three months before the ts is lifted, just give it some time, the net offer will soon turn to net bid(in a month or so)
PoliticsRe: A Sweet Wind Of Change Is Blowing In Nigeria! by shigidi(m): 11:49am On Aug 10, 2007
Backslider:
Hmm Moods seem to be changing.

I was in Nigeria and I tell you Lagos is a disgrace. However I cannot call a dog a bad so that it should change its character. We have to Prosecute corrupt officials with our eyes opened. We have to send this convicts to longer prison sentences.

EFFCC DID THEIR JOB THE CONVICTIONS AND JUDGMENT IS BY THE JUDGE NOT THE EFFCC.

We now have a Precedent though a weak one but it is better than none. The sentencing should be heavier.

Ah My Lagos state is in a mess. That Tinubu guy should be asked to account. Tinubu killed Lagos state. This is a great shame. I lived in singapore they have no farms, I mean absolutely nothing but they have foreign reserves of $120 billion. The size and population of singapore cannot be compared to Lagos.

There is a center in singapore close to a river the picture of the old singapore is posted i tell you OSHODI IS BETTER now THAN THAT PLACE THEN.

We need to hold the governor of Lagos state accountable. We have to stop playing on the animosities of the state gov and the federal gov.

We shall be doomed if we don't hold the state government accountable. Forget about the federal allocation first let us hold the state government on the monies that collect as tax.

over 1 million move in and out of Lagos. please let deal with this man called Bola Tinubu so that no one will do this again to Lagos. I think they will have to deal with the less politically media hyped thieves.

We now see what i was saying the state government stole money. Yes they should investigate OBJ and if he found culpable he should face the music.

Now some people say because the head is by perception corrupt they cannot be be seen to have a genuine desire to fight corruption. THIS IS A BIG LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL. I WILL GIVE YOU EXAMPLES.

1) THE PRISONERS IN PRISON KNOW VERY WELL THAT NOT ALL OF THEIR INMATES ARE GUILTY AND THEY SEEK JUSTICE FOR THEM ANY WAY THEY CAN. IF YOU HAVE BEEN INCARCERATED BEFORE YOU WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

EVEN IN PRISON PRISONERS ARE LAW ABIDING

2) THE FOREFATHERS THAT WERE ON THE LANDS OF AMERICA AND AUSTRALIA WERE CRIMINALS BROUGHT FROM THE UK THEY WERE USED TO BUILD THE LANDS IN WHICH SOME OF YOU QUEUE AND SEEK VISAS TO RUN TO NOW.

A KINGDOM THAT IS DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND.

CLEANSING MUST START FROM SOMEWHERE.

THERE MUST BE SIMILITUDE OF THE RULE OF LAW, THE PROSECUTION AND SENTENCING.
i agree grin grin

@ easimoni,i think i understand now. reviewing my oceanic eps by adding the 3+ billion that was offerd, it gives me an eps of about 1.3, assuming a pe ratio of about 26-28, that gives an estimated price of about 34-37 naira by the time its year end comes around and with rumors of another bonus, who knowshuh
thank you so much for all oyur help grin grin

What we will ever hear of is the fact that he wrote the exams

I hope the examiner will be bold enough to ensure that Baba has the deserved marks and nothing more.

The journalists should follow up and inform us of Baba's results.

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 12:40pm On Aug 09, 2007
slay kay, ive already bought oceanic, uba and intercontinental with no sign of share certs., the last thing i want to do with the limited capital i have is to lock more money up. i know japaul is good and should be a 10 naira stock . but im not sure how long i would wait to get that far, hence my question. theres nothing worse than locking up capital for so long.

@ easimoni,
i need to ask u two questions,
1) ive bin getting quite confused when calculating eps of companies with public offers just concluded. how do u know when new shares are listed?? and if these newly listed shares always seem to affect the eps negatively then why do companies do pos at all.huh
2) bearing in mind what ive just said, what do u think bout possible price appreciation for oceanic in the future with its new shares and all. cos without it, the forecasted eps is 1.60 naira which should translate to about a 38-40 naira stock shouldnt it undecided undecided
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by shigidi(m): 11:12am On Aug 09, 2007
@ easimoni, temmie10 will u advise buying japaul from the floor and waiting from the post suspension run, i really dont like going into pos. pls holla as soon as yall can.
