Hear say? Brazil is my second home. I can name 20 Nigerians in at least 10 Brazilian cities that we rolled together back in the day. This is a faceless forum so let's leave it at that. I know at least 5 Nigerians with their own English language franchise businesses . ... and yes, I encountered guys like you in Brazil a lot but people's paths are different. Many of you are fond of analyzing foreign countries from the perspective of a fresh immigrant rolling with limited stalites and staying for just a couple of years or someone just visiting for 2 or 3 weeks. You are hardly close to any iota of accuracy in your views. erico2k2: Apart from Hear say do you know anyone who teaches English personally? I don't mean one employed by a Nigerian family to teach thier kids at home. Also African restaurants Bross Plzzzzz those are mama put I was at few of them and also I happen to meet a Nairalander there too we both ate at same restaurant but were not familiar at the time. You talking about ware houses, bro the average Brazilian is looking for that job.Bro I only just left there Feb this year If you don't sell drugs in the name of African shop then you are just a figure passing time. The ladies tend to do well than our brothers as they are into hair product and stylist etc. |

erico2k2: That country lack infrastructure relative to its huge population and large land mass, to travel from Sao Palo to Rio de Jenaro takes 8 hours by bus on a very tricky road you as a visitor cannot drive on also from Rio to Salvado is 1 day 10 hours no trains. The do have Trams in the tourist areas and they make money from that but overall thier number one export is FOOD. What is the expected infrastructure? How do you get to Denver or Gunnison, Colorado from say New Orleans, Lousiana in the USA? Or New York to Phoenix? |

Show proof that Brazilians migrating to USA are more than those from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Venezuala, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Haiti then we can start debating. That is the point in the debate just in case you missed it. erico2k2: What that guy said is fact, there are well established drug route lined with people smugglers from Brazil to the US. Deadly journey, take it as Wet Forest route to Libya. Full of snakes and poisonous Lishes and stuff. If you speak to anyone in that market, I have forgotten the name, google Darien Gap, its a vast area merging central and north America, its btw Colombia and Panama, it takes up to 10 days to cross, last year more than 36 persons died in that jungle, some came back and are in that market hustling others scattered in other part of southern America. I also met some group there who it took nearly 16 years to be able to learn the language up to Olevel grade. |

I have provided the info above, I don't know what your expectations are and I don't know which country open up a portal and say THESE JOBS ARE MEANT FOR NIGERIANS. As an immigrant, you go in with no expectation and find your way. If your concern is if Nigerians have good jobs in Brazil, yes they do and there are several professional groups across different Brazilian cities including Brasilia, Sao Paulo & Rio. English teaching: Nigerians are working warehouses in America until they have documents, some are working in African restaurants. English teaching is better in my opinion and many Nigerians do it effortlessly after a few months in Brazil. SIM Card: Have you ever asked yourself if it's easy for foreigner to get SIM card or Wi-Fi in Nigeria? Forget foreigners, you think it's easy adjusting to Nigeria for Nigerians living abroad? erico2k2: Bro you still did not tell us the kind of job available for a Nigerian My point is no professional would open thier eyes and go to brazil to work English teaching is the nearest best thing. Now ask yourself how long it will take you to learn teh language up to A levels grade. Learning the language on its own is a challenge let alone writing it.To even get a SIm card to put on your phone is a challenge as you need a national ID card and number for that some sort of NIN thing, so all fru I was on Wi-Fi or a satellite phone. Bro compared to other countries of the west these are third world countries. We as Nigerians are some worth too much to spend our money brains and resources to say migrate to Brazil if not for tourism, and guess what its damn way expenssive to go there from Nigeria flight tickets alone can set one back N13million plus. |

planetx: Heaven on earth? But Brazilians make up some of the largest groups trying to enter the US illegally through the Mexican border. Where did you get that from? Can you provide any link/proof of that? Brazil is one place that shocked me about their attitude towards moving to Brazil. The US Embassy was almost empty the few times I went there. These are the known largest groups coming through the Mexican border: nationals of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Venezuala, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Haiti. Brazilians come in also but when you factor in their population, it's just a super tiny fraction and nowhere close to the countries I mentioned. |

I want you to bring a document over here , I don’t have money for DHL.. please 🙏 Not that I know of, my contract in Brazil ended several years ago. Also, people are definitely wary of helping bring anything including documents to or from Brazil due to the bad eggs among us. You just have to ask around within your direct circle. |

Yes, lots of immigrants are living in Brazil as a pass-through to the USA. Those who are in Brazil to stay and work did their research and figured out what to do. If you learn the language and have work authorization you can see available jobs on several portals like https://gupy.io/ with over 4,000 companies across over 20 different industry verticals listing their openings and you also have catho.com.br, empregos.com.br, hbne.com.br. Others are indeed.com.br, careerjet.com.br, infojobs.com.br. Brazilian newspapers also list jobs e.g. Gazeta Online, and A Tribuna. Popular jobs for qualified foreigners include banking/fnance roles, IT specialists, Builder, Engineers, Oil and gas workers, and Space and nanotechnology researchers. The most common job for people in-between jobs or trying to find their feet is teaching English. While the unemployment rate in Brazil is around 9%, the informal sector is where you find many people including immigrants servicing the huge population (that's where the cluster of Nigerians you see in Sao Paulo belong). The biggest employers within the formal sector are Ford Motor Company, Microsoft, and Brazilian companies like Petrobras, Ultrapar Participacoes, Vale or Banco Bradesco. The public service pay very well but jobs are limited to Brazilian nationals. erico2k2: You still managed not to answer the question, I asked WHAT WORK? don't forget I went to the centre where Nigerians own almost all Biz to speak to loads of them there, their main aim was to cross to the USA, but it aint easy and cost loads, I must have spoken to a dozen to be migrants! |

We have always been the problem. Those who made it to government positions are all from within us and they are only extending what we do at street level to government level in connivance with the traditional civil "thieves" servants.
Even train stations na war. At the one in Moniya, Ibadan, they make life hell for passengers with no private pickup arrangement who have to cough out close to the cost of business class train ticket from Lagos just to get to their homes. They made sure they formed a union and made it impossible for ride-share to pick people up.
We are who we are, most of our people only complain until they also find a sit at the table of oppression. |

House34: Mr ten of thousands...how much have you send home this month, and how many time you travel to nigeria this year ...you have no mortage or children? I will dignify your sarcasm with a response. 1 - I don't send a fixed amount monthly. I have an aged parent at home who comes here every other year for 3 months minimum. 2 - I travel to Nigeria 2 times a year. I was unable to travel home for 7 good years until I fully settled down. I have businesses to handle. I started out by expanding my mother's retail business and all my ventures grew from an existing but rapidly expanding customer base. The rest is history despite Nigeria's challenges. I still send money home for investment projects. 3 - I have mortgages and I have children. I actually started out as a real estate agent after I got my papers here. It's a part time thing for me for several years now. Just take time to immerse & understand the system. My first mortgage is in a AirBnB allowed location & rental is allowed, it's almost paid off as it's a small apartment. Its income will start contributing to my bigger mortgage in a couple of years. Without mortgage you will still rent anyways? Lastly, my integrity has proven to be my greatest asset here and in Nigeria. It has fetched me millions. That's what many of our people lack. Being "fast" and being smart are not the same. I don't do "fast" or "sharp" deals and I don't listen to "stories". |

Get the refineries running again or privatize them. Just don't sell them to Atiku's buddies. Without subsidy, imported refined petroleum products will be unaffordable for most Nigerians. This issue will always reach a boiling point at a particular period and we are right there now.
Even at that, it will take a very long time for the refineries to hit production again so for now we are at the mercy of Dangote on the immediate way forward. We messed it all up as always. |

I would have said please leave our clueless people alone but I love the way you have provided a high level overview for those who can read. Kayyy: Bro, not knocking your ideas, you still didn't get my point, firstly mention any successive govt that has actually blocked any loophole or conduit for corruption completely in this country since inception, you know why ? It's not about you , it's about the workers, even the lowest of the officers have their form of corruption not to talk of the managerial positions. I know how much my friends at Tin Can Apapa were taking home daily about 10years ago and how they spend on me when I go greeting them and none were at managerial level. So it's not about the person at the top , the policies he would put in place would still be managed in the ground, would you as president know how the bush routes would be created to move products ?. Besides there would always be review in the quantity of refined imported products cos people would buy cars and other equipments that use petrol as the years goes on, so wouldn't you be reviewing to capture them ? .
Lastly and most importantly,
1 - have you quantified the amount you want to spend on all these programs in a short term and 2 - loan it would involve and refinancing and servicing of those loans vis a vis the current debt profile? 3 - You want to spend trillions on subsidy and refineries, spending hundreds of billions to manage naira/dollar exchange , increase minimum wage , spend on education etc all these within just 6 months , where will these money come from ? 4 - And how do we pay it back not minding we're still paying the one owed by your predecessor Buhari?, 5 - Mind you , you will still be presenting your own appropriation bill for the year 2024 in 6 months with all these your spending ? |

Is Tinubu going thru the pains and suffering he is expecting nigerians to go thru despite 8years of suffering and hardship under buhari/APC?
What are the "good and helpful plans" that are in the works? Are u sure Tinubu is ready to do this job?
33. What benefit did nigerians benefit from the removal of subsisdy from diesel and kerosene?
34. Tinubu didn't state how nigeria will get out of the turbulence he has created. How will Nigeria get out of the turbulence?
35. Tinubu claims that "In a little over two months, we have saved over a trillion Naira that would have been squandered on the unproductive fuel subsidy which only benefitted smugglers and fraudsters."

... that inconvenient truth that they all don't want to hear. teepain: Well someone else may argue that when a patient is hemorrhaging the first thing to do is to stop the haemorrhage before additional interventions. If one likens the removed subsidy to the loss of blood, the speed of implementation may be justified. Only one who is privy to the accounting books of the country will be able to tell how bad things are. Of course, we all should have an idea that this economy has been near comatose since around 2013 when Okonjo revealed that FG was borrowing to pay civil servants. Subsidy ought to have gone since Jonathan proposed it in 2012 but it is better late than never. The other thing that needs attention is the cost of governance. |
