Educate me on the truth then
Companies like microfinance banks et al. recruit people for entry level risk analyst positions, especially that of an underwriter, and preferably someone that studied accounting or statistics.

Nevertheless, prior experience matters.

@OP...there are a lot of opportunities in firms like audit firms also. Just apply and preferably back your course with certifications. It is well.

Lol... Underwriter just like that? I hear u. Probably u are talking about actuarial science not statistics. If u didn't study insurance or actuarial science, for u to be an underwriter u will need CIIN certificate and work experience in the industry.
Not necessarily true.

I disagree with the point that the slimmer the tie the better.

Looking @ corporate executives, I dont see dem wearing slim ties. Am not against it but dont paint it in a way that its the ideal thing
I agree with you. Nice point.

Besides, the size of tie should correlate with the wearer's size. Slim ties are recommended for slim-chested people whereas the big ties are good for those that are broad-chested.

@OP...You try.

Hey I just had another thought.
Why not just write $10k in the "Room &Board" box and leave "Others" blank?
You would then explain in the " Explanation of Finances" that your relative is hosting you (with relative's letter attached) but that the $10k under room and board would also cover incidentals.

I just feel like leaving "Room &Board" blank could raise initial concerns. Hope I haven't confused you further undecided
This was actually what I did. ..just remembered vividly.

Room/Board- 10, 000CAD
Others- ?

And what was the reason it took that long? Probably you begun your application way before the deadline for fall. 8 months is quite long!
I'm also for UofM. My application took 5 months too. I think @iyaEjima is right.

Don't leave that box blank o! The VO may assume you are saying you don't have money for room/board. Or it may cast doubt about your finances in the VO's mind. Don't leave your fate to the VO's arbitrary interpretation, try to be unambiguous and specific about all important detail. My sister left that box blank on her first application and was rejected for insufficient funds, even with lots of money on the bank statements.

I recommend putting $10k under room/board and then put another amount (even if small, e.g. $3k) in the "other" box.
I actually agree with you. It is well.

Will you be living someone you know over there? Just wondering why you left it blank?
Lol

I assumed the 10,000 CAD shud cover accommodation or so. And note that the amount available exceeds the total of tuition and other expenses by about 12,000 CAD which I think is what matters, while the amount available shouldn't also be the whole amount in your sponsor's account, except maybe you are the only child of your sponsor.

Wow! I'm glad to find someone also going there. I'm guessing you were admitted for the winter session? For the room/board/ other fees quoted above is the $10,000 for all combined? Because on the form there was a field for room/board and another for other fees. Sorry for asking so much questions..lol. God will see us through.
I was admitted for fall.

This was how I filled it:
Room/Board: -
Other fees: 10, 000 CAD.

I left Room/Board fees empty.

Thanks man. Did you also apply to Manitoba? One question please. I'm currently filling out the form for student permit made outside of canada (IMM1294E). For the part of the form that asks for tuition, room/board and other fees, am i to fill in the costs for one year or the costs for 2 years combined?
Yep, also got admission to Manitoba. TRV still processing. It is well.

As for your question, this was how I filled mine (with respect to my tuition fee):

Tuition: 8900 CAD (for 1 year)
Room/ Board/ Other fees: 10, 000 CAD
Amount available: 30, 000 CAD

Amount in my sponsor's Account balance: $34, 000 US

Note the amount I stated as available isn't the entire amount in my Sponsor's account. ..even though the sponsor is my dad.

Hi people,

So i finally got a letter of acceptance for my MSc program from the university of Manitoba and i have started the online study permit application. On the part for uploading the letter of acceptance, it says the letter has to contain the exact tuition fee for the program. My acceptance letter does not contain this, however the information is present on the school website. Is it necessary to contact the school to include this information or there is some other way i can go about this?

Thanks.
Congrats bro!

My letter of acceptance also didn't state the exact tuition fee which I used for TRV application. And I honestly don't think it's a big deal so far you can showcase your financial capacity the way(s) @TheBae has pointed out. Besides, one's fees will eventually depend on the courses you register for I think.

Best wishes.

I just think this is post Canada refusal-syndrome. You were upbeat and optimistic up until yesterday and since then you've been posting all sorts and inadvertently placing blame on other Nigerians in diaspora who are all trying to make a better life for themselves why not channel all this energy towards re-applying as for me Yes oo, I am part of that 90% @avalon316 refers to and there is nothing wrong with it as the immigrations laws make provisions for it and it is an open secret that the vast majority of applicants going to Canada wish to study and immigrate. A lot of people prefer Canada because though the tuition charged to international students is not cheap but some programs have co-op to get some valuable work experience and not to mention the PGWP as well as EE, after spending much on tuition fees i think people can choose to stay back or return home to Nigeria to work and it is entirely a personal decision which should be respected as the reasons behind it will vary for each individual.
Nice one. This post nailed it.

TV/MoviesRe: Half Of The Yellow Sun Vs Oct 1 (which Do You Think Is Better And Why?) by sholay2011(m): 4:50am On Aug 13, 2015
Nice thread.

Having seen the two movies, October 1 is a quite better film IMO than HOAYS.

But I'm also a sucker for characters. I found the character of the missing sister (Kainene or so), that was never found, haunting. ..way after I saw HOAYS. Kept thinking of her fate...

Nothing particularly stood out for me in terms of the characters in October 1 like that...except maybe Aderupoko's comic supporting turn. This is not to say acting wasn't okay in 'October 1'.

I agree with shockwave91's analysis.

It is 'right' if the major reason you got married is to have children...which is sadly, the root of many marriages in this part of the world.
