Are scholarships only meant for thesis based Masters? What about course based (m.eng)?
To my knowledge, thesis-based Masters students are considered for scholarships first before course-based ones (except for maybe scholarships that are specific to the latter).

That doesn't mean scholarships are only meant for thesis based Masters. But the way these academicians carry research for head ehn...hia!

they are both academically sound and they have 4.0 in their last 2 years also they were top 5 best graduating students with best projects One in computer science and the other microbiology One Will be doing GRE while the other won't both have work experience

thanks alot for the info will start from here
You are welcome. I have added a bit to my post. You can read the last paragraph.

Their profiles look good...especially the project part. Upon all I have said, they can also support their applications with prayers. Protocols are set to be broken.

for someone just applying for a school they are still in Nigeria

they don't have the funds atall

they hoping to get full scholarships

and yes am in Canada already just that I didn't come thru scholarship
I want to assume they are applying to Canadian Schools.

Hope their CGPAs (or most times their GPA in the last two semesters) are at least above 4.0? (For some courses that require GRE, a good GRE score wouldn't hurt at all.) If yes, then they should package a personalised, passionate and knowledge-based SOP in their application. By knowledge-based, I mean they should show they have at least basic knowledge of their intended courses, especially if they are going for Masters. They can refer to their undergraduate research project, talk about achievements in relation to the field etc.

But before application, they can mail the advisors for their respective departments in their schools to know about the availability and their chances at getting funding. They can also contact specific lecturers in their intended department that their research areas interest them for advice and even, funding aid.

Some schools automatically consider you for some scholarships as you apply for admission while some scholarships are specific to some courses with special requirements and must be applied for separately.

But first, they must be well-informed before starting to write that mind-blowing SOP. It should be noted that my epistle is based on scholarships relating to the institutions. There are also external scholarships in which some Canadian schools are under them just like Commonwealth and Chevening scholarships have mostly UK universities under them. It's all about being informed.

pls Ooo don't mind my foolish question. how can someone apply for scholarships with funding?.

what are the steps
do I just apply first then write an SOP or what.?

pls I really wanna help some people without funds but they've got brains get here ... don't just know how to explain the scholarship thing to them.. thanks
First, it is not a foolish question. I believe all scholarships aid funding. ..

Is this for someone that's just applying to a school abroad or someone that's already there but believes he/she should have gotten funding? Can you be specific?

'Cos I believe you're in Canny already going by your posts here. Cheers!

@habukoh...

Check out the way refund is done in your school; notify them of your delay and ask for refund of the fees you've paid.

You may not get your exact money due to some charges.

Lolz....Actually, I only came here visiting before class starts, will be moving to St. John's. Though I visited University of Manitoba during my tour around here.

Concerning your off-campus accommodation quest, worry less. All you have got to do is to book an hotel for like 2 days; I would suggest City hostels (very affordable like $28 to 40). Once you arrive here everything would fall in place.

Using my experience as a reference, have actually observed those landlords prefers negotiating with those on ground. Infact I was basically choosing the apartment I want amongst competing offers.
Lol...thanks bro. Do I have to arrive there before I can book an hotel or I can just do it online from here?

Please is there anyone that received approval mail this week, 25th August precisely ?
I did but mine don't have words written on the coloums for; Name, Application number , Unique client number, Validity &as well didnt indicate when to enter Canada (thou. School opens 8/9/15.

I will like to fine out whether thats what approval letter format looks like? or should it be sth i have to be worried of?
Tracked; pp dispatched 26th Aug., When likely will it hit VFS for collection?

Appreciate your kind response. Thanks all.
Will share my profile soon.
Dunno what the approval mail sef looks like with the way you just described it. I got a mail that my pp had been dispatched yesterday also and ready for collection (with 'Application Accepted/french translation' being the title of the notification mail). I checked my CIC account and saw 'application approved and closed'. Letter of Introduction was later sent.

So, which one in my 'story' is the actual approval mail? Or did you apply through paper route 'cos I used online route? Whatever way, congratulations!

Hi Marcus,
Will be arriving in St. John's on Sept. 1, am in Winnipeg already though.
Any package for us?
Are you a student of UofM? Hope you know MUN is not the same as UofM?

By the way, I am an incoming student of UofM. Abeg, I need off-campus accommodation that's not far from school. Since you're in Winnipeg already, can you help pls? Thanks.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by sholay2011(m): 12:34am On Aug 27, 2015
@darefestus...
Before sending them an email, why not go to Vfs at Lekki to lay a complaint (I assume you submitted there)? Or are you not in Lagos?

They havent mehnn..

I'm just tired.
This is bullsh*t. Shebi you submitted at Lekki? Abeg go confirm if your passport has been sent or just make an enquiry....'cos it shouldn't take more than 30 days before one submits his/her passport after getting a pp request...

Or maybe it has been sent but still being reviewed huh It will end well in good time in Jesus name. Pls, intensify prayers (if you believe in God) and go to Vfs at Lekki for enquiry.

DELAYED
1) Travel history (Applied with a virgin passport)
2) Family ties in Canada and country of residence
3) Purpose of Visit (UG; Logistics Management, Job; Logistics and Supply Chain Management Firm)
4) Personal Assets and financial status.

Humber College
Program: Supply Chain Management.
Paid Agent (Maple Education) NGN160K + USD1,500 = NGN506,500.

Being delayed is more like a blessing in disguise for me, so, please don't tell me sorry. Although it hurts real bad especially the the money I paid to agent.
It is well bro. List your documents please. Forget that travel history ish...just came along with the other reasons.

Aii thanks but i don't intend to work in this company when i return......and i don't have a leave letter or anything coz i don't intend to work here....did u get a leave letter or something?
I didn't get a leave letter from my company (I just spent like 4 months with them). In fact, it was an audit firm which was not in line with my intended course of study/undergraduate. So, I didn't complicate my application by obtaining a leave letter stating I would return to work there.

Your SOP along with some landed properties can serve as home tie. Study leave letter may just complicate things except you've spent a long time in the company or you are an experienced hire, not trainee like me.

hi y'all....i'm new here.....i already have admission for MSc at the University of Windsor and i intend to apply for my study permit next 2 weeks. My question now is will i need to add my SOA for the visa application coz i have stated on the for IMM1294 that i am currently working and on the family information form too and SOP. My dad is my sponsor not me. But i'm thinking coz im currently working, they'll ask for my SOA. Do i add it to my docs or do I just state everywhere that I'm not working. huh
I will advise you state everywhere that you're working (so far that's the truth) and add your employment letter to your application (especially if it indicates how much you will be paid per year and the pay seems quite okay).

That was what I did. I didn't include personal SOA.
