She deserved it on the basis of character + performance + 'narrative'. And well, the character was haunting...enough to get Academy voters hand Lupita the Oscar.
On the basis of performance alone, I think Jennifer Lawrence in 'American Hustle' or Sally Hawkins in 'Blue Jasmine' were superior. |

Koffies: Luvola, I've seen you on a thread before oo, I think it should be kpmg's. I got dropped at the partner level interview and you can't even imagine how depressing it was getting that far and being dropped but I knew I am employable to have even gotten that far with them. I won't say you shouldn't pray or fast or whatnot but I'll suggest things you could do to better yourself. I noticed a lady (beauf, not sure of the spelling) asked you one question and you answered something else, she even hinted you that you didn't answer her question. Perhaps you could work on comprehending things so you'll understand what each interview question actually demands of you. Many times, we feel we've said something while we've not even brushed the question. It also never hurts to improve your confidence level and grammar. Don't use big words if you're not sure of their meaning or if they fit that context. I've had more recent disappointments sef asides kpmg. I failed Access bank's test by one mark and I was telling my mum that my village people have a hand in my case. Looool but I think I didn't prepare well enough. I'd rather be realistic than depress myself with thoughts of existence of village people. Anyway, find something doing asides your online retail business. Volunteer at a small audit firm or whatever firm you deem fit. I got a small job to manage till my breakthrough comes too and my original intention was to volunteer at the firm without pay but the MD gave me an offer letter instead and though the salary is small, things will get better. Nice one. @Luvola...Take (more) heed to the quoted post please. All is well bro. Also ensure your mindset about certain concepts aren't changed yet because of your state. That would be the greatest blow. I am someone that believes good things can come easily(especially if God is fully behind me). And always remember, no matter the factors 'for' or 'against' us, we are still responsible for our destiny. Goodluck with your interview. |

Christianity Etc › Re: N'landers, Who Is Melchizedek As Described In Hebrew 7vs1-3? by sholay2011(m): 7:55pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
mbaemeka: There has been a lot of confusion concerning the Person called Melchizedek and it is clear that we may never fully know who he really was on this side of the divide. But with the few available biblical references to him, I tend to believe that he is more deity than otherwise and if so, then he would have to be a Theophany.
Some of those proposing a non-deity position are doing so purely based on extrabiblical ideas. There is not a single scripture that says Salem was literal. For one, Abraham was said to be physically looking and searching for a city whose builder and maker was God, but he never did find the city. If the city in question, was an evolved Salem turned Jerusalem, then the Hebrew writer was giving unispired scripture and we shouldodo well to disregard the whole book. But the Hebrews writer, Paul, NEVER gave uninspired text.
For the records (and borrowing NLmediators excellent posers) we are faced to deal with the following scriptural facts: Melchizedek was described as NOT HAVING beginning of days and end of life;He was attributed as NOT HAVING mother or father; He was said to be made LIKE THE SON OF GOD. He was said to be a priest forever, made before the law was given yet similar to the son of God in having an endless life etc. Even most interesting of all (and often overlooked by the non-deity camp) is the fact that God the Father and Almighty one is said repeatedly to have made his son a priest after the Order of Melchizedek.
This is important to take into cognizance because priests were ONLY named after an order if they hailed from the order and could be traced to the lineage of the first priest in that order. Taking Aaron for example, the bible attributes all levitical priesthoods to be of the Aaronic order and we can relate with this because Aaron was the first priest in this order and all subsequent priests of the order were descendants of him. Now, juxtaposing this fact with the one that God named Jesus to come according to Melchizedek's order leaves us to have one conclusion: that Jesus hailed from Melchizedek and as such Melchizedek would be as much man as Jesus is and was.
The big error with the Shem attribution to Melchizedek is also clearly shown in the bible. Hebrews 7 argues that priests were ALWAYS designated according to the order of the one that they hailed from. In that sense the writer reasoned that if Jesus' priesthood was ordinary like normal fallible mortal men then he should have been named after Aaron's order. But that was not the case, instead Jesus was named after Melchizedek's order. Secondly, we know Shem's father, we know his mother. We know when he was born, and when he died. Shem had no similarieties with Christ and neither was he ever attributed with an endless life so he being the said Melchizedek is DOA.
In the OT we see that Joshua met a particular man shortly before he was to attack Jericho (Joshua 5 vs 13). The MAN in question was holding a sword and he looked very much like any other man so much so that Joshua had to question the man's loyalty: are you one of us or of the enemy. The MAN said to Joshua "I am the Captain of the Host of the Lord". As soon as Joshua heard this, scripture says he immediately bowed down to worship the MAN. The man in question asked him to take off his sandals because he was standing on holy ground. We know what the term "Captain of the Host of the Lord" means but just incase we are in doubt we have a few pointers to show us who that MAN was.
Joshua didn't recognise him but as soon as he introduced himself Joshua knew such a man was worthy of worship. Another interesting thing is that the MAN said "as the Captain of the Host of the Lord have I APPEARED unto you". The last point is that the MAN asked Joshua to take off his sandals- the same thing that the Holy spirit told Moses at the burning bush.
I submit it to you today, ladies and gentlemen, that this man was the HOLY SPIRIT IN FLESH. The same one that Abraham met in his house whom the bible said ATE food. He is also the same one that Genesis 32 says wrestled with Jacob and caused him to change his name. He is the same one who appeared at the fiery furnace with Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego. The one whom Nebudcadnezzar described as "LIKE THE SON OF GOD". He is the captain of the Host of the Lord, the ancient of days, and the angel of the Lord's presence. He is Allos Parakletos; the one Jesus described as exactly like himself. That is why his features and characteristics are very SIMILAR with Jesus'. He has neither beginning of days nor end of life. He has no mother or father, no genealogy or descent. He is the same one that appeared to Abraham as the king-priest and offered the communion (bread and wine) to the Patriarch. He is the one whom the bible described as the KING of PEACE and RIGHTEOUSNESS. The same to bless the Patriach (something no ordinary man could do).
It is a bit debatable since we have just a few things to say about him from the scriptures but Paul said there is more to know about him if only we could be more spiritually alert. I think I have an idea as to why Paul could say that and even more so why Jesus could be named after his order in line with a forever priesthood and after an endless life. It is because the Holy spirit, like Jesus, CANNOT DIE.
I rest my case. You nailed it!!!! C'est finis. Mods...come lock this thread oo. |

soloqy: Tayo lost the game by his own hands. Weeks ago when this game started, some of us pointed out here how confrontational and abusive Tayo was to almost everyone he came across in the house, most times unnecessarily. And guess what, we were talked down on here and insulted as haters.
Some where always quick to refer to Uti saying he was the same as Tayo in the house but thats not the truth. Uti was not unnecessarily brash. He chose his battles well and made alliances in the house which ultimately hepled him. Tayo stood alone. The housemates play their game in the house and the fans watch their alliances and friendships and also play it for them outside the house.
Ask yourself the question,Region or no Region, if you were the one that his/her country rep got torn apart by Tayo in the house, would you vote for him ? If he stopped at normal dissing and exchange of words, people would have counted it as fun but the level that he descended to in the insults and abuse was cringe worthy. Some of those insults may not mean much to some of us Nigerians but to people of different cultures, it was a no no. I am a Nigerian but winced and cringed at the insults and abuses he hauled at people.
Tayo was entertaining sometimes and a lot of other times overbearing and just too much for anyone to watch.
Yes, there is no denying the fact that he is real but his realness is also a turn off to some people. Some people here cannot even be friends with Tayo in real life and we are supposed to be loud people let alone people who find the whole behaviour strange.
Nigeria or not, Region or not, Tayo would not have been hated as much as he was in the house if he didnt court trouble as much as he did. Even Frankie tolerated a lot of nonsense from him but not everyone can be that tolerant of bs.
Luis was the very first housemate that felt the brunt of Tayo and Idris showed Luis love in the house. What was the outcome? Luis was outside and pulled out all his followers and fans and campaigned massively for IDRIS and they took Namibia.
Arthur had an issue with Tayo which, he felt was never resolved . He saw Rwanda go to Tayo the first time when he didnt campaign but later rallied the country with the EA sentiments. Frankie was fighting a losing battle once Arthur played that part. But If Tayo didnt have such bad blood between him and those housemates, I am pretty certain they wouldnt have campaigned so much against him.
I for one, believe that Tayo will make a lot of money in Nigeria but this should be a learning in life for him. Not winning it in my own opinion will benefit him the more.
Results were not rigged. I know I was scared third day into voting week when all I saw around the Internet were Tayo fans and Nigerians engaging in fights everywhere with people who are potential Tayo voters. In years of watching the show, that is always a sign that they are not voting. If they were voting, there wouldnt be time for all that.
I even said it here that people are not voting. I kept bringing up the issue of voting. I guess my talking about the voting was in reference to the ROA vote. People took it for granted that Tayo would get it meanwhile, Macky2 goons voted nothing else but ROA. I mean thousands of Macky2 fans on three different Facebook fans page, were dedicated to voting the ROA code.
The results didnt surprise me. They have plugged all holes of rigging. You cant be here and vote as any other country from the website. Its not possible. The AVS system they set up this time is strong.
I would suggest, its either we get a break from the show ,and maybe do BBN ,or Nigerian BBA fans should learn to be tactful and play the game outside for our reps.
You cant murder other house reps with insults every season and extend even to their countries then expect them to be happy with you. We are so intolerant. We diss other housemates to kingdom come but once our reps are dissed, we bring fire and brimstone, why?
When other country reps mess up, we are the first to diss them mercilessly but we never accept the faults of our reps. We should be ale to say, 'yes he messed up but he is only human please give him a chance' without going to war and insulting anyone that has a negative thing to say against our reps. We cant determine what our reps do or how they behave in the house but you can help them do damage control by how you react to other countries.
We were told to sit down when some of us pointed out at the beginning of this season that its not about our numbers. Even if we are 1 billion, only us cant make our reps win. Some people who dont even vote as much as I do shouted me down saying they have systems, tools and everything to make things work. I guess we have learnt now. The system has been made to stop any form of voting manipulation online so you need other Africans to get ahead.
All in all, Tayo must learn and change some things. People who are close to him, must tell him the home truth so that he can move on to greater things. Its a test. If he doesnt learn, God will keep waiting till he does, knowing that wealth without the needed control, moderation and humility, will destroy him. Hopefully, he is already on that part to humilty and greatness. Wow!!!! You nailed it! One of the best posts ever on this thread. 'Just decided to keep quiet when the talk of regionalism took over the thread after Idris won. Was it also by regionalism Idris snatched Rwanda from Tayo? Or was it by the fact that he was at peace with his housemates? Wss it by coincidence Luis championed Namibia to vote Idris? Or is Namibia now EA? You can't be friends with everyone, true. But when you start fighting with (almost) everyone, almost to the point of enmity, please check yourself, even if it seems you are the victim. That's why I won't support Tayo's tantrums and the whole 'they-are-ganging up-on me or everyone-hates-me' storylines. The common excuse would be Tayo was already beefed by other housemates just because he is a Nigerian. If housemates become his friends, they are stylishly seeking for Nigeria's 'winner-determining' votes; if they don't, they are beefing Nigeria because we've won the show the most number of times. I really hope Tayo has learnt his lesson. People here yabbed Sheila when she was in the house as she shifted from being Tayo's 'true friend' whereas when he nominated her, it was a 'smart move by the lion slayer'. Not everything revolves around any Nigerian housemate in BBA. A little objectivity would have saved some people from being so hurt by yesterday's results, or maybe helped Tayo to win. Best wishes to him in life endeavours. Congrats to that annoying, bed-hopping cuddler...IDRIS. |
