Mamaroon: Crespo Baba......I am not a lawyer o, but I do not think an affidavit answers every issue...I may be wrong though. If affidavits were a "cure all", then applicants adopting young children would be swearing affidavits instead of going through the legal process to obtain adoption papers. Lawyers in the house help us out........
What stops all other applicants from claiming cousins as siblings using affidavit alone? Enough of us grew up with our siblings.
If her cousin has not been consistent in naming her aunty as her mum in her own application....then neither affidavit nor adoption papers can help. I would have said "try it" if she is convinced of her position (e.g. that an affidavit can serve as a legal document proving adoption), but some experiments are so expensive!!!
Even if aunty was stated as cousin's mum on her own application, I am assuming IRCC will need some evidence of "siblinghood" other than the aunty being listed as mum on the cousin's application....again, I may be wrong here.
#PersonalOpinion You've said it all. We must be careful when we provide information we're not sure off on this platform because it can lead to problems for the applicant. A thing like this could be deemed as misrepresentation. Affidavit can't supplant the adoption papers which the cousin clearly doesn't have. Stating something on an application without evidence means it's not true. That's why they ask for documents e.g IELTS, ECA etc to show what you've stated is true and can be corroborated. Best to find professional advise than shedding tears later on. |

I'm a Canadian guys..... YIPPEEEEE. Congratulations. Which province gave you PNP and what profession was it for? I thought Lawyers weren't in high demand in almost all regions in Canada |

livewithpurpose: Thank you because I've been worried if I should indicate it. My mom adopted her when she was 2 years old (Even though there are no legal documents to prove it). She lived with us her entire life until when she left Nigeria to study in Canada 8 years ago. We both have photos and correspondence to prove it. If there are no legal documents to prove it, how do you want to convince the VO you're siblings? I highly doubt photos are enough. If she was a blood sibling, a birth certificate and photos would suffice but you said she doesn't have a birth certificate and there aren't any adoption papers. I highly doubt you can claim her as a sibling even though she added you as one on her application. Like Bekkay said, read up on this on the CIC website. All the adoption stories I've read here always had legal adoption papers |

livewithpurpose: Hello Good People,
Please I'm about to start the process. I have a cousin who's a Canadian Citizen. Our mothers are siblings but she grew up in my parents house so she is more or less my mother's daughter. Can I indicated her as a sibling when applying? She has no issue with this and is willing to support. I think he would have had to be adopted by your Parents/Mum for you to claim he's your sibling. Without it, I'm not sure claiming him for points will be successful |

It is a tough and hard desicion to take especially if it seems all your resources have been exhausted. Always be ready to give it another shot;it is only then that you can become victorious, else all your efforts you had put in would seem wasted. It shall end in Grace... Thanks for the words of encouragement. We shall see how it goes |

Cherryberry456: please how does trump winning affect the score... just want to understand how? His Administration is anti-immigrant. Today I even read they have further restricted H1-B visas for foreign skilled workers. If he wins, more people will look to Canada and that will keep the scores high. If Biden wins, he will most likely reverse Trumps immigration policies and more people will look to immigrate to the US, especially Indians and the Chinese, who are currently the largest applicants for Canadian immigration. This will drop the score I believe |

thaprofit88: Hello all. Please I need help urgently. I was nominated for Saskatchewan pnp from the last draws conducted, I had a friend who we agreed will play the relative part for me when I get the pnp nomination. Problem now is he passed on in August and now of all the requirements requested the only one I don’t have is relative in Saskatchewan. Please can any of you help me with someone that can play that part for me? Please I will welcome your reply ASAP as deadline for submission is Nov 23. Thanks in advance This constitutes misrepresentation and you will receive a 5 year ban. Our reputation is bad enough, why do you want to add to it? Oyinbo people are thorough oh, so my advise is that you drop this application and apply through the normal route or pray for a PNP that doesn't need a family member in that province. This your application will end in tears, I assure you. |

sesan01: I had gaps in between each of these experiences, hence the need for multiple entries with the same reference letter which stated each work experience. If there are no gaps between those experiences, then one entry and reference letter is enough. Okay. Makes sense. You can still use one reference letter I think. The letter should just state the different time periods you worked at the job |

Mamaroon: WES vs IQAS for Lawyers
Disclaimer: this is not to say lawyers should not use IQAS, I'm just looking for intellectual banter this fine Saturday afternoon .....with no party to attend!
Statement in bold 100% correct....HOWEVER I would assume VOs are bound by the information available to applicants on the Canadian Government websites.
And one of those sites clearly states that a BACHELOR OF LAWS is equivalent to a professional degree, not in general terms but in terms of reading the assessment from the ECA and CRS points awarded. See screenshot and link.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html
Do VOs make mistakes? Of course, but I have never seen a judicial review case on this issue....so is it that Lawyers are no longer learned ( they are not reading up and are not aware of what IRCC says about ECAs marked as Bachelor of Laws) or wahala is no longer their work (they are not taking IRCC up on its VOs' errors) or these rejection applications are getting reopened? Or maybe WES says normal Bachelor instead of Bachelor of Laws?
If the info on canada.ca and cic.gc.ca cannot be relied on, then what are we all doing here? In general, we pray that VOs do not make errors on our apps but were it to happen because of an ECA, POF, NOC or other issue, we shouldn't just fold our hands...after all the time and money spent!!
#RamblingsOfAnApplicant Hahaha at these two statements. We are still learned and like wahala but money no dey oh. You don see wetin COVID don do to the world and Nigerians in particular? Hiring Lawyer to do Judicial review dey expensive but you're right. I'm surprised no Lawyer has taken up this issue. You are also right that the VOs should be bound to the requirements stated on their website. On the Canada Immigrant forum, some applicants successfully used their WES assessment (LLB is equivalent to a 4 years Bachelor degree) by writing an LOE stating what the website says about Law degrees but the successful results are few and far between. It's mostly rejections I've seen. It's just better for Lawyers to use IQAS to avoid stories that touch. I hope a rejection case on this issue is judicially reviewed though. It's high time they're called out on this unfair assessment. Why state something and do the exact opposite? Ko make sense |

sesan01: I think you might need to create two different entries. I had 3 stints with same company (internship -> part time -> full time) and I had to create 3 different entries for them. Are you getting two different reference letters for these experiences? If yes, then I think you need to create different entries for them. If it's the same job, two differenct entries are not needed. Location of the job is not important, unless it's in another country. One reference letter is okay |

ans123: You better wait and get your TRF before entering the pool else you might be toying with a rejection. This is false. She/he can enter the pool and take advantage of the draw tomorrow. The result is legit, only the date is the problem, which can be corrected post ITA |

pwityjj: God bless you If your ECA report gave a different evaluation from what you're claiming, you will be rejected. Like ednut1 stated, IRCC social media accounts mislead people. The VOs don't base their evaluations or regard messages from those social media accounts. You only need to read stories of Lawyers who went through WES and claimed professional degree when their ECA stated otherwise to understand |

Kaygirl33: But what happens in this case where she was never married to the child's father. The child's father is not her spouse. I would have suggested that the child's birth certificate bears her own surname since there's no evidence that she's legally married. Others can weigh in too A lady narrated her own story which was similar to this in part 7 or 8. She needs to get the consent of the childs father before which she will then add to her application. Oyinbo people don't play with situations like this. The child taking her name shouldn't be an issue though |

LeProfeseurJean: Please can I edit my ECA details after I've received my ITA. Thanks for anticipated response You can change your ECA report if you've received a higher assessment from another body e.g WES assessed your degree as a Bachelors but IQAS assessed it as a Masters. Aside from that I'm not sure what other editing you can do to your ECA report, unless it's something cosmetic like you made an error on the ECA number |
