Until that account comes out and denies any official affiliation with ASUU, you'll keep saying the same thing to the press cheesy

Saintinoo:
I have been saying this, Nigeria newspapers have turned to fake copy and paste blogger, no where in the meeting did they say FG will drop IPPIS, all these were faked by Nigeria newspapers.
I think only thisday carried such story. Most of them I read and what was said on tv was that they'd be paid using the old platform not totally exempting them from ippis.

Nevermind, Punch also said they were exempted grin.

So they should fight for your pocket, the revitilization fund is not for ASUU. What's bad in demanding for allowances?
If only they leave it at that and fight for just their allowances grin.

guruzmarstk:
Don't confuse yourself. Yesterday's report and today is the same. In summary, FG raised the offer from 50b to 65b, as against the 110b which ASUU requested for earned allowance and revitalisation.

The issue of IPPIS was just a distraction on the part of the government. Regardless, FG shifted ground yesterday by agreeing to pay Lecturers using the former payment platform, pending when UTAS passes integrity test.

But hope you're aware that the 65b is not going to to ASUU's account? In all honesty, ASUU are not only after their welfare but also the standard of universities.

N.B. I'm not a Lecturer or associated with any. I'm even affected by this strike. But we need to be objective.
standard of varsities for who exactly? The one with one month left to graduate or the ones already in the substandard system. Yes our varsities need work but ASUU is acting like it's simply by FG negotiations and capturing the 'sub' students at home sad.

obstead200:
ASUU is very corrupt. The reason they always succeed in bamboozling the FG and getting away with it is because the FG negotiators and decision makers is made up of a bunch of daft, incompetent and self-serving bastards who do not possess the intellect nor the wits to match the corrupt cunning of ASUU members. Put me and my likes in that team, give us a year with full autonomy to do and act as we please and we will bring ASUU to its knees
Or we don't have the institution to deal with situations like this. I mean people who have captured students at home will always try to have the upper hand grin.

I thought we are still in a pandemic.

Honestly, I still cannot pinpoint a factor that works in our favour during this pandemic. Maybe DNA. We have bad healthcare system, disorganized open markets, no social distance, etc. They thought we would have died in millions by now. It is a miracle.
What NCDC and other research bodies should be doing. Imagine a country handling covid by not doing anything at all cheesy. I still think we have loads of unaccounted cases and fatalities though sad.

EducationRe: Finally ASUU Has Suspended The Ongoing Strike by SirWarlock: 4:16pm On Nov 21, 2020
blazesam:
THE Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria (ASUU) has suspended its five-month old strike, just as the Federal Government reiterated that it is committed to investing N1.3 trillion in public universities in the next six years, to transform the institutions.

The union announced the suspension of the strike in Minna, Niger State, after its National Executive Committee (NEC) agreed on new funding terms with the Federal Government.

The announcement comes with a huge relief to Nigerian university students who have been out of school since the strike began in July.

ASUU NEC has, therefore, directed its branches nationwide to resume work immediately and urges the Federal Government to implement their December 11 resolutions.

The supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, responding to the suspension of the five- month old strike by ASUU, said Federal Government will invest N1.3 trillion in public universities in the next six years.

He said that part of the fund would be used to revitalise infrastructure in public universities to transform them into international centers of excellence.

The minister restated the Federal Government’s commitment to the implementation of all the resolution reached with the ASUU.

According to him, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, more than any other previous administrations, has invested heavily in the revival of basic and tertiary education in the country.

He said this was because it considered education as a veritable source of empowering less privileged Nigerians to achieve their life ambitions.

He disclosed that that the government had inaugurated an Implementation Monitoring Committee on the agreement under the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The minister said that the committee’s membership consisted of ASUU, SSANU, Committee of Vice- Chancellors, and Committee of Pro-Chancellors and other stakeholders, to ensure proper implementation of the agreement.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator, National Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), Chief Babs Animashaun, yesterday described lecturers’ suspension of their five-month-old strike as the best Christmas gift to Nigerians.

Animashaun spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos shortly after ASUU suspended the strike.

Animashaun said that the suspension was heartwarming and a sign of good things to come in 2014.

“With this development, ASUU has given the whole nation, the best Christmas present and a cause to merry.

“We, as parents, indeed want to thank the lecturers for the long struggle and all they went through in ensuring that some sanity is restored in our public universities”.

Also reacting, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, Director, Quality Assurance, National Universities Commission, said that the development was welcome and long overdue.

Mafiana told NAN on telephone that the Federal Government’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASUU set the pace for the calling off of the strike.

Dr Olubunmi Ajibade, Senior Lecturer, Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos, said that suspending the strike after much deliberation was a welcome development.

faceURfront:
I see some sense in what you are saying, but your last statement is not logical. That conclusion does not reflect all you have said initially. What does "... stop funding unsustainable projects like ASUU" mean? I didn't know ASUU is a project. ASUU has been clamouring for revitalization of the university system and a stop to proliferation of universities which end up not being adequately funded; is that (the call) what you want FG to stop or something else? I don't get. You need to be clear on some of your assertions. The other thing is their EARNED allowance; are you suggesting they should not be paid what they are being owed? Besides these two things, is there any ASUU project I am not aware of?
FG should stop states from building varsities? undecided. I agree there should be a rethink concerning that but what exactly do they want FG to do about it.

Wahala for govt which after all dere gra gra, still come back to terms laid by ASUU from day one. Why all the waste of time, resources and lives?
Nah this just gives room for them not to fulfill their agreements completely. Clearly they didn't really have money for the union but now they're trying to cough some more out? Well we'll see I hope this passes quickly sad.

Yesso! I am in my late 20's and studied pharmacy. By the grace of God, I got a job immediately after NYSC in two Federal establishments simultaneously. I had to go for one. Three of my closest friends and coursemates are in Australia, Germany and the Uk doing research. We are all from humble backgrounds, and I used to hawk doughnuts and purewater as a child. I do not regret studying pharmacy in anyway and I thank God for it.
wish I could refer my bro to this comment. Though I fear for the population in that field especially in the next 10 years for a country like Nigeria huh.

How can they be demanding for their own payment mode?

it's a total rubbish so FG needs to dissolve ASUU
Well that's a different story. But dissolving them? Nah it's not possible/wont work. For a country that seems to have limited academicians sad. It's going to be hard to do kind of mass sacking and then replacing them grin
