Myanmar has already purchased four thunder jets through Chinese assistance. Pakistan also plans to export JF-17 to Malaysia and Azerbaijan as well as additional fighter jets to Nigeria, which now has three JF-17s, as per the sources.
Bro, like i said, it's lack of seriousness, if the leaders truly want to haul in decent military assets, they will do just that, we've done it before. It's all about what we consider priority, if Abuja and all of Nigeria is about to fall into BH or Iswap's hands, you think we won't find the means? please. Anyways, I'm done here chief. Just my own opinion.
jln115: OK bro simple question...... So why is Nigeria only spending 1% of gdp on defence? You obviously said their are no restrictions stopping government from spending more!
Always talking about Nigeria as if you work in the Nigerian Govt No such thing as social economics restricting the Govt, any serious country with security challenges will do whatever it takes to get the right assets, nothing is stopping Nigeria from doing the same, Russia right there, can fulfill every single one of our security needs. And who's talking about credit rating, come out here and see tons of schools in New York already shut down because there is no money, USA is broke, period, I've spent half my life here, it's all fantasy. But hey, not gonna debate over this, carry on chief
jln115: Except the US don't default on their debt and have a AA+ credit rating.
And its not that Nigeria can't afford Migs and Yaks, I mean if Algeria can field such a formidable defence force, then its entirely possible Nigeria could to..... It's just that the social economics don't allow for this.
yea they do have money, they are also 5 trillion dollars in debt, that's my point, you don't use your own money for these things, use some, but most are borrowed, even Saudi Arabia owes money, regardless if they are considered rich Not an economist , just what i know on the surface of things
Show me a country that have the money. The US is over 22 trillion dollars in debt at this point, it's all borrowed money, Nigeria is just too scared to owe. Besides, we sadly have an inefficient tax system, that's something a serious govt should tackle first, if every Nigerian who earns income pay taxes, I mean, so much more would be accomplished in that country. As long as that money isn't wasted of course
jln115: Correction Nigeria has money BUT not for Migs and Yaks...... And SA is in the same boat.
haha, dude had me at "Vegetable slicer" lol, I'm dying here lol good job. But these are things the military should have local vendors for, jeeze, why the fvk is the military wasting time and resources on producing vegetable slicing machine? Is this a joke? Source local manufacturers and procure these things from them, ugh
Lol, where have you been? That was US troops pulling out of Syria and left the Kurds hanging, so the kurds feel betrayed and pelted those US convoy with rotten potatoes lol. I mean, these guys lost over 10,000 fighters, only to be left alone and get slaughtered by Turkey, never trust Trump, he's a low life
AskiaHarem: A Better question is what's going on in those pictures? Looks like the natives are apposed to whatever US operation is going on.
Sorry but that's utter rubbish. and the guy never said Nigeria will be, he said Nigeria has the "Potential", you missed that part? Not long ago China have little military power, can you say the same today? Some nations stand still, some forge a plan, stick to it and get to where they need to be, what's stopping Nigeria from becoming a world power? Those other countries called "World powers" fell from the sky? Or are they not people, sad to look down on yourselves like this, it''s not something that isn't achievable, might not be in our life times , but it's doable
Nicheey: LOL, nigeria world power?.. Loooooooooooool I must say your patriotism is beyond words.
Well all world powers should at least have uninterrupted light, good transportation systems, affordable accommodations, jobs and merit-able environment, and ignorant of the law shouldn't be an excuse, likewise all citizens must be equal before the law.
You see my friend the odd of Nigeria being a world power is 0.00000000000(after zillion zillion zeros) 00000.0, since em born me for this country I haven't benefited shit from it, rather have given it my undivided attention and a part of me, but guess wah? The shitty country spit on my face.
Who said nigeria isn't weak? And proxy war can't work in Nigeria? (civil war, we all know that war was fought on proxy by France. ) bakassi pensula disputes (France again) tchad dispute of maiduguri (1980 something, general buhari pursued tchad troops deeped into their capital. Still france)
There are many people willing to sell information to any country willing to provide em what nigeria couldn't.
As of now, nigeria is the weakest country in West Africa, any big nation can have a dance till dawn over us.
The 2019 India-Pakistan border skirmish resulted in major shake-ups within the Indian Air Force (IAF). The most accepted narrative, that of a loss of an IAF MiG-21 Bison to no losses of the Pakistan Air Force bodes poorly for the IAF. But interestingly, according to a July interview, the skirmish marked one of the first “hot” use of Pakistan’s new Chinese JF-17 “Thunder” fighters.
The JF-17 is a relatively new single-engine fighter, meant to compete against other light fighters like the F-16, Gripen, and MiG-29 for export contracts. As the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is the only large user, most solid information about the aircraft is from Chinese marketing documents. But the July interview gives one pilot’s opinion on how the JF-17 stacks up against most common adversaries, from Sukhois to F-16s.
The extent of the JF-17’s “hot” usage following the border skirmish was in patrols near the border. In some incidents, the pilot said that during these patrols, he was getting radar lock-on Su-30MKIs at ranges in excess of 100 kilometers.
However, this doesn’t mean that a JF-17 could kill with a missile at that range. The JF-17’s primary beyond-visual-range (BVR) armament is the PL-12 missile, which is still undergoing integration (as of February 2019). During the actual border air skirmish, PAF F-16s lobbed AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles at similar ranges, which forced IAF aircraft to go defensive to dodge the missiles, but no kills were scored. As the PL-12 is said to have a similar range to the AMRAAM, it’s likely that its kinematic performance at range is similar, and it too wouldn’t be able to score a kill.
But if the JF-17 allows the pilot to “lob” a missile at planes at such ranges, it still might be a step ahead of the IAF’s Su-30MKIs. According to an NDTV report, the Russian R-77 missiles cannot engage targets past 80 km
F16 for where? shoot, na F22 he go even dash us lol. All the US has to do is threaten to ruin our economy, to think we have such influence with the US, shoot, we should, sadly, but we don't. Nigeria won't go against US sanctions on Russia if US get involved, our leaders don't have balls, so to speak, or should i say backbone. Don't wait, and there is nothing strategic in how we procure military hardware, if anything it's embarrassing .
Jimi24: Nigeria is NOT going to buy SU 57. What are security planners are aiming for is American F16s. They will make a play for Russian jets and wait. They know there is an amateurish transactional guy in the White House who thinks himself 'smart'. He will hear at some briefing that Russians are selling SU 57 to Nigeria and will just blurt out against all complicated strategic considerations why the US are not competing and pow F16Vs are coming Naijas way
How many towns does BH have to defend? How many cities? How many people? Without US air power, they can't do much, airpower is king, without it,then you have no edge over the enemy. NA is spread thin, BH or Iswap isn't, to compare how they operate to that of the state is ridiculous. When you have small military units spread all over the place, BH or whatever simply have to overwhelm their position. So it doesn't matter if BH have tank or not, fact is NA cant have tanks every where and in every village, and BH have zero responsibilities to protect people, towns or villages. To some of you guys often mouthing off, without that same Military, your mothers and sisters would be ISIS brides by now. It's war, setbacks happen, show some respect and actually say "Thank you" to these soldiers, without them, there will be no Nigeria. And if they were not doing their job, BH or ISWAP would be running the country from Abuja by now And if you want peace and victory, fvking volunteer, join the military, those guys living in trenches , fighting and dying for Nigeria don't have two heads, they are people like you
WARTHUNDER: Please, we cannot blame this current NAF, just read all seminar papers by NAF on Limitations of Air Power 2019.
Any army full of of overseas trained officers academy and MSc graduates that says it cannot defeat totally illiterate primary school drop out BHT ISWAP unless government buys them dozens of army owned combat helicopters, that army is a failure.
How many aircraft does Boko Haram have? How many tanks, artillery, MRAP, APC, does ISWAP have?
That tiny, soft skin, cheap armed helicopter is not good for this deadly war, 300 bullets gun pod is too small. It flies only 2 hours airborne so add base distance it stays like just 15 minutes in combat zone, our troops fight 6 hours long battles. No armour, GPMG 7.62mm can shoot it down like it shot down some French Gazelles recently in Mali. ISWAP BHT that has anti-aircraft and shot down Alpha jets, heavily damage well armoured Mi-24. its them our army wants to fly against in light helicopters?
Govt cant spend $600 million on Super Tucano, $300 million on Mi-35 and still invest money to buy enough of really capable army helicopters to create another second air force with our weak economy causing low budget.
Our army is joking, how will helicopters be stationed in frontline trenches beside soldiers like a Jeep? No army on earth keeps air support helicopters in frontline trenches. Army officer that does not know complexities of aircraft fleet maintenance and ground support facilities wants to park helicopters like Hilux Jeep beside troops in trenches! May this army not waste us.
NAF is flying against Delta militants, N.W. bandits, N.E. terrorists, N.C. herdsmen, ocean pirates, nationwide armed robbers, all the same time, with how many aircraft? If NAF flies without maintenance down time per hours of flight per aircraft and pilots fatigue, NAF will have air crashes daily! They cannot do more than these tens of thousands of sorties per season, it's called technical limitation of air power. 70 armed helicopters owned by Kenya has not given Kenyan army victory over Somali insurgents, yes 70 combat helicopters wont win CT-COIN. An army must be well equipped to win on land.
Nigerian army is not serious, see, when air support is not always guaranteed, armies around the world have alternatives, they use man portable anti-tank thermobaric missiles to kill off gun truck vehicles in large scale insurgent attacks, then use heavy machine guns to wipe out foot insurgents in hundreds.
US, UK, and allied army infantry men fired off over 30,000 TOW, MILAN, Javelin etc against Taliban and ISIS in one decade of CT-COIN. NA refuses to induct any infantry missile or KPV, or ZPU as options to NAF air support for decades, but now they want squadrons of army helicopters to defeat enemies that have no aircraft. Why?
Air fleet of combat helicopters is huge cost to maintain serviceable 24/7, prone to air crash, shoot down by anti-aircraft, can be overrun at army aviation base if poorly equipped garrison platoons retreat overwhelmed.
Drones owned by army are much needed, NA has many DJI, Govt. should add squadrons of Gulma UAV to our army owned airborne ISR to cover all N.E. land mass. How many armies on earth own fleets of combat helicopters? Is lack of own gunships a reason to lose war? An army planning to win land based war using armed helicopters forgets the enemy can get MANPADS. A good army must plan to win by operating on land, it's traditional battle space.
$180 million is average annual capital procurement budget for NA. Factor special war funds, means 2009 to 2019 Nigerian army was paid nearly $3 billion to buy new equipment. All we see are poorly armed armoured, and soft skin no armour vehicles parading DSHK like it's Nigeria's nuclear weapon for victory.
ISWAP entered Nigeria, and with BHT they hold our once upon a time mighty Nigerian Army down to a forever stalemate. We are not happy, we want real victory and a Nigeria free from war.
You are taking that out of context. It's like saying the Judiciary is independent of the executive branch, does that mean the Judicial branch isn't part of Govt?
lionel4power: here is his EXACT words.. quite different from your bolded.
... nd cbn is an independent institution but only receive order on monetary policy e.g interest rate. ...
I remember when i was back there as a teen, when civil servants etc get a raise, non-civil servants increase the price of their products, and before you blinked that pay increase is no longer enough
EVarn: We cannot forever remain stuck with the primitive idea that increment in national minimum wage will cause hyperinflation or economic crisis. That is simply government propaganda. Is it today that Nigeria has been reviewing it's minimum wage?.
Yes, removal of susidy will result in price hikes on the short term, but at least, if the minimum wage is significantly increased, many Nigerians will be able to afford their needs. Nothing wrong in a minimum wage of N60k.
Getting worse?compared to what time period? It was worse than this before, how many attacks have we had in Abuja lately? BH is mostly in remote places, wasn't there a time when they were all over maiduguri before troops pushed them out and never could come back in? my memory might be short on these, but i wouldn't say the conflict as it is now is worse than before, i mean these guys were controlling massive territorial areas before, how do you compare that to now
GabrielYulaw: It is not getting worse? Mr Man, I really need the name of your weed dealer. He has some really good shit that's apparently scrambling your brain, that's if you even have any.
No mind them lol, special forces wey no get dedicated assets when needed, they basically use same tools are regular soldiers, might be wrong, but i expect SF units to be more sophisticated than regular troops, in terms of gear and dedicated assets that is
EVarn: All these Special Forces sef...all they do is carry big guns and wear dark shades. Look at that one with pot belly, what kind of SF is that?. Seems they just select tall muscular people, send them to an obscure country for a few months for training and then christen them "special forces".
You should think bro, what's the number of troops they have in Benin? To think Nigeria can't defeat benin is idiotic, besides, I'm not the one who brought up Benin, someone else did, how about you research what Benin have in its arsenal before talking rubbish Benin with less than 5,000 troops, 2 patrol boats with zero airforce, are you high? My state ( Ondo State) probably more troops stationed there than all of Benin. Even BH can defeat Benin, and i mean take over their seat of power
BabaOwen: Someone even said the Nigerian military(that is struggling against ragtag groups on is territory will defeat Republic of Benin in less than a month
Do you know what it is to defeat a country
Dem dey think say fighting nah like eating bread and beans . If no be ragtag groups like boko haram, Fulani herdsmen and bandits wey dey open the Nigerian military yansh, some Nigerians will sit down in there house eating amala and ewedu or apku with vegetables or eating tuwo shinkafi and start boasting that Nigeria will conquer the whole west Africa within one month .
For boko haram to even exist in Nigeria without the DSS and military intelligence department stopping them from existing at all sef, is a failure on there part.
Nigeria can not defeat Benin republic because I don't see Benin republic attacking Nigeria and I don't see Nigeria attacking Benin republic
It would be idiotic for any same person actually think Nigeria can't defeat Benin militarily, I'm sure their leadership would disagree with you. Fighting BH is hard due to the nature of the conflict and style of fighting, fighting Benin would be much easier actually. I mean, how about BH set a time and place? And this would all be over in less than a month , a rival force wouldn't be hiding in jungles and deserted villages etc, using women and children as human shield , BH isn't a rival force, hit and run attacks doesn't make you powerful, neither is hiding
The write up above, lord have mercy, in the words of Martin Luther King, "I have a dream, that one day, we shall gallop into Pretoria" lol, with the Alphas in tow
Idea of seizing a foreign company's assets in Nigeria isn't a smart idea, these companies weren't owned by SA govt, unless I"m wrong, the moment we do that, Nigeria will no longer be a place investors want to go, and don't forget Nigeria can be sued if we take such step, and if a decision goes against us, whatever money we have overseas can be seized. Regardless, there is nothing SA govt can do about this, laws are there that says we should't jaywalk or kill, that doesn't stop people from killing or jaywalking, and like Nigeria where we've had Christians murdered in the North for eating while Muslims were fasting, should we hold the Nigerian govt accountable for that? This is just an example, there are many more Point is, if something is gonna boil over, it will. How on earth are we flexing muscle against SA when our own citizens right there in Nigeria are being killed daily like Chicken. Might wanna fix your own shortcomings before flexing the muscle you don't have. We can't bark and call something unacceptable, when worse things are happening to those same Nigerians right there in Nigeria and i don't see Nigerians protest these killings or armed robberies, but na SA we want to threaten? funny
I know you're probably not trying to be funny about your questions lol, but dude you are cracking me up lol, haha. But hey, i understand, the man seems to cherish taking unnecessary trips every weekend just to go relax, even with BH plying same route, i find that odd, no way i will be glad to make such journey once, let alone most weekends
Tobiloba2407: is he doing it for free, i dont see how much someone can be paid, to risk their lives....i would think of the grief i would give my loved ones, if i went missing.
Besides soldiers can't be everywhere over there, to say they ran away ( talking about the other guys comment) is sad, if the place holds no strategic value or there's shortage of manpower, they won't hold it, i said it before, all these silly towns should be bulldozed and move the people into central locations that can be better defended . To think the Govt has the means to post soldiers into every 200 person village that dotted the area is madness, BH simply have to overwhelm one of such and decimate the few troops there.
