lol, regardless of which it is, wrong is wrong... a guy like that shouldn't be in uniform or any capacity in Govt serving people. (if what's written there is true that is) blacKDalia: Lol.The same Nigerian army that you have disparaged several times.Reporting it here will not serve your purpose, here is not a military barrack, take it to the police station.

Not a claim, i know where i live Chief, not sure why it's hard to get my point, no one said there's no limit to free speech. A black guy who's stepson was killed by the police said "Let's burn this city down", and then there were protests and riots, and yes charges were filed against him for that, because yes he incited violence. ( i believe those were later dropped) But we also have people marching on America's street supporting Nazis and denigrating Jews, and that's protected free speech. My initial comment was reaction to what i read.... "Glorifying fraud", now in what way etc, all that matters, you can't just say someone glorifies Hitler and should be arrested, that would be odd. So after Henry gave more detail, i agreed with him. That's simple enough. And when you talk about economic issue, isn't that the responsibility of the Govt, so if they are corrupt and youths can't find jobs, well what do you expect, you have high rates of crime, it's 1+1. High unemployment anywhere in the world means a breeding ground for all sort of criminal activities, and i guarantee you, you can't lock them all up.. that ain't the solution, they have to fix the underlying cause. BlackBaron: Our leadership is corrupt, activism may not help a hungry man. The solution is more of an economic issue which I think most governments so far have had limited IQ to deal with. Heck, countries are investing heavily on their youths whilst our leaders are stealing their commonwealth. We'll need a different thread on suggestions on dealing with this. It'll need for the youths to also become wiser to the type of people they elect into government.
And again, there are exceptions to free speech, no less in America where you claim to be. I believe it's enshrined about limitations to free speech. So yes, his arrest is justifiable. |

And if you read my comment i made that clear, how things work where i live is different from back home, so no argument there. Your initial comment was, he was arrested for glorifying fraud, and i stand by my comment that that shouldn't be enough to arrest. You elaborated and i now see that he did commit fraud, which is okay to arrest. But Oga Henry, i hear ya, no one wants tyranny, that's all I'm saying. We gotta make sure free speech and freedom of expression is universal Henry240: Where you live is not Nigeria. You need to understand the difference.
There is no difference between a terrorists inciting harm and a fraudster inciting harm.
It is reckless comments like these that led to the death of 800,000 people in 6 days in Rwanda.
This rapper was arrested and charged to court because he committed fraud. Even without this offence he still would have been arrested for inciting violence and harm.
Fraud is a serious problem in Nigeria, we cannot have miscreants openly advocating fraud without fear of consequence. |

Which is where leadership from Lawmakers, Governors, current Nigerian administration, activism had to come into play, the young just need reliable and honest people to look up to, it's all about countering these behaviors with a better narrative. And create enabling environment for these young folks to make a living, why are we surprised there is so much crime, because these kids can't find a job, and some will stray into the abyss , sadly, they are being failed by their country BlackBaron: Naira marley is from the UK drill scene which glorify violence amongst other vices. He's probably shifting here to probably compensate for the limited opportunities in the scene. The artists in that genre are heavily censured as part of operation trident as its part of a wider vice threatening communities there. So once you start going off about guns, this, gang that, just expect The Met to cast lens on you and your activities plus a few visit.
In Nigeria, fraud is now one of the biggest youth vice, so its proper they begin to take steps before it engulfs us. I don't agree on arrests over naming a dog Buhari however but I believe with better education, officials can decipher between silly and serious. |

I don't know who he is, nor care, but like you just said, he boasted about how many times he's been arrested, that ain't a crime, he's simply working on his street credit, you know, trying to imitate black yanks, I've seen musicans from nigeria now sagging their pants etc, or our movies now having insane sex scenes we never had before, i simply think Western culture is turning our country into shit Sounds like a low life with no regard for laws, and sure he should be prosecuted for an actual crime maybe he has no morals, that's on him, but once he commit an actual crime, hang him Sane, law abiding people simply need to make their voices heard and counter such things, that's all we can do, we can't stop an idiot from acting like one. As for me, i will defend his right as i will defend yours, to freedom of speech and expression, remember there used to be times when women are stripped of their clothings right there in Nigeria, say their skirt is too short, and some idiot in military uniform will brutalize a woman for that, it's her right to express herself as she see fit, not a crime. So is freedom to say whatever trash anyone wanna say, shouldn't be illegal. LTGEN: Y"all need to see some of his tweets and his Facebook videos. In one he boasted how many times he has been arrested. In another he said those of us that are working stiffs are idiots. You have to understand Yoruba because the translation doesn't do it justice. Basically he is inciting people to get into Crimminal activities. He loves Facebook and Twitter. |

I live in the US. Just last year we have bunch of White Nationalists saying on TV how they want Jews eradicated etc, guess what, it's protected free speech, like i said, it depends on country. And if you read my comments, i also said if the guy had committed other crimes relating to fraud, then he's been charged for it, like Henry said, 11 counts or whatever. So no need for debate, i simply thought his only crime was "Glorifying fraud", since that was the original post i saw, that ain't a crime,(depends on where you live i guess, if someone said stuff like that, the prosecutor have to prove that he has committed fraud,if they find it, only then will that person be arrested, saying it ain't enough to arrest or charge. that burden is on the Govt, not the suspect, alas we are talking about Nigeria, so all good. Wasn't a guy arrested last year or so for naming his dog Buhari, , i hope it's a rumor, but if true, anyone with common should know that's a problem BlackBaron: Freedom of speech/expressions have 'exceptions'. You can't incite people to commit lawless activities. I don't know about the Nigerian legislation but surely you cannot be a grown man and argue you have the right to profess incitement, hate or threats. You can absolutely not claim free speech in these cases! Wasn't he also found with other people's debit details?
I don't know where you live where rappers can sing outrageous lyrics. I know examples of other countries like UK where drill music is censored, videos taken down or rappers arrested for lyrics of crimes they done or intend to. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Sizzorkay: 12:19pm On May 21, 2019 |
Seems like you aren't getting my point, your example of a "Terrorist", what does that tells you? He's a terrorist, its a known fact, aka, a criminal, that's one thing. Exercising freedom of expression saying people should turn to a criminal life style isn't a crime, then again, I'm looking at this thru the lens of where i live. Heck here we have rappers saying shoot the police in their lyrics, guess what, that's freedom of speech. But as you said, this rapper already committed a crime and he's been charged for it, great, that part was left out before, which was why i thought it was odd to arrest someone for saying something, not doing it. So we good Henry240: A terrorists telling people to go blow themselves up in a market place is no different from that fraudster naira-marley.
They are both guilty of the same offence of urging people to commit harm. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Sizzorkay: 8:29am On May 21, 2019 |
Unless he lectures people step by step on how to commit fraud, someone saying for example "let's scam people:" in a lyric or tweet. that ain't no crime, unless it was actually done, unless he conspire with others to carry it out, aka conspiracy to commit fraud, it's not a crime. IF he engages in fraud, that is a crime. so i hear you, perhaps that should have been the news, that he was arrested for fraud, not glorifying it Henry240: Glorifying fraud and inducing members of the publuc to commit internet fraud is a crime. However, that wasn't why he was charged.
A terrorist going online to ask people to blow themselves up inside a market, church or commit mass murder is also exercising free speech.
He was charged with 11 counts of alleged fraud with another individual, now at large. |

Just because the masses will suffer doesn't mean you bend over backwards to a foreign power, if anything the US is the one acting belligerent here, not Iran. And it's not about whether the US can defeat Iran or not, the Iranians and everyone else know the US can,it's about the cost of that defeat, the US will pay hell for it. And in terms of what the US spend on it's military, a lot of that money also goes towards maintenance, I mean the US have about 800 military bases all over the world, they still gotta fund the VA etc, it's a lot to maintain. And as it is, America is broke, everyone knows this, what they are spending can't be sustained, in the long run, it will all collapse , that country has 21 trillion dollars in debt right now, just think about that. Every empire falls, and they are doing their best to stop China from surpassing it, but eventually they will, hopefully that doesn't lead to war ugo4u: Like play like play the US is inching towards war with Iran, as of today British troops has joined them in the military exercise in the Arabian sea. The question now is, what gives Iran so much confidence to stand against the military might of US? is this not madness? Saudi and Israel are indirectly pushing US to annihilate Iran. Last year alone US spent over $600bn(madness) on defense alone, can somebody tell the Mullahs in Iran that they're no match for US because in all its the poor masses that will suffer the catasclysmic devastation. |

Yes sir, perhaps you can enlighten us about Nigeria's rules of engagement during an invasion, let me guess, more brutality against the already brutalized masses? Tell me more. Your ass will be drafted forcefully, really? Using what personnel? Nigeria simply don't have the resources to forcefully draft anybody, do you even know how many cities, towns and villages there are in Nigeria? Both remote and not, yea, good luck with that draft, i hope they stock up on gas, they're gonna need it, and lots of spares for their vehicles, it's gonna be a long drive. This is a highly disorganized country, where the police probably don't even have database of the people within each state, give a Nigerian police a fake ID and he won't know the difference, how you gonna find them?. smh Nicheey: Indeed you're entirely oblivious bout the Nigeria armed forces rules of engagement during invasion. 21st century war isn't against the people, even previous ones, my guess at least, No invading Nation is gonna go home to home slaughtering unarmed civilians, that's gross exaggeration, unless its some rogue nation doing the invasion, there are still rules of engagements, like it or not. In fact once the military of such country is defeated, it's done. The idea that a Country will invade another and commit mass slaughter , I''m not buying that, unless they have some unstable govt and troops don't care about the rules of war, think Sudan / south sudan kind of thing , but a legit country, won't happen EVarn: The reality is that if you don't pick up arms and defend your country, then you as a person are not safe. You think the invading forces will care for your scrupples against the government??,they see you as a Nigerian, and therefore as an enemy, your decision to sit at home and sulk, bemoaning your misfortune, will not have any effect on an aggressor ,other than getting you killed faster. |

Ain't nothing wrong with your comment chief, to each his own, it's your right to fight for your country, i admire that, for real. We just gotta get our acts together, we can barely manage the troops we have now, let alone millions more, shoot. Litmus: I’d fight for Nigeria, no idle boast here. Nigeria has done nothing for me save host my parents that gave birth to me. Nigeria will do nothing for me, but I’d fight for Nigeria. Some would say, are you Nigerian not Isoko? and I’d say until Isoko becomes its own Nation, I’m Nigerian Isoko. I would fight for Nigeria because I’ve never been selfish, couldn’t live with myself seeing others that share that Nation with my parents being inflicted with death, suffering and humiliation by foreign forces. Call me names all you want but I’ve come to terms with finite nature of life, there’s only so much one can achieve, fighting and dying for ones homeland whatever the flaws in that homeland is no real waste all are dirth after death, from ironstein to Ojo, remembering or forgetting their names does nothing for them. |

To those talking about picking up arms, you need an inspirational leadership for this, this is sorely lacking in Nigeria, who's gonna rally the people to fight for Nigeria? Those thieves with mansions overseas? Because i can assure you that most of them will be out of the country before the first bomb drops. A neglected population have no incentive to fight for a country with a broken system and Government, won't happen. That's not to same some won't, but most will not. Nigeria is a fractured country, we aren't Japan, ours is a country full of different ethnic groups, different languages. And when we talk about wars, someone is talking about someone's mother being raped etc, with what manpower is the invading force gonna do that? They do not have the manpower to takeover all of Nigeria, In fact the rapes and civilian deaths will probably come from fellow Nigerians, not foreign troops. Same thing with someone saying troops will force civilians to fight, funny, with what manpower are those troops going to round up tens of thousands of civilians, while those same troops are needed on the front lines. Won't happen, in a country where the Govt have no real record of the people within it's borders, or where they even live. Good luck with that. Not saying war is rosy or there won't be deaths etc, let's just hope it doesn't come to all that, and yes, like we've all said over and over, Nigeria is under-prepared for war with a more powerful adversary |

You got time my friend. Move on to more better things, arm chair generals know best Algerian1: Are you serious ? straight line ? Its not a game .
do you think armored , mecanized divisions will start from border line , to border line in straight line . its not athletism sprint . natural obstacle , the field ?? deploy with good existing roads even curved will be always faster than straight line in natural field. desert is not all flat with no obstacle . try your self a little car or bus , now imagine to deploy an armored division
+ in case of a big invasion attack, there will be major bases of deployment in tamenrasset 400 km inside algeria or at best 200 km to protect them from surprise air strikes or attacks from nigeria and even from french Us reco units drones sabotage ect ... You need a security distance to detect threats on your bases and have the time to react, exemple where put radars, air defense systems to cover your bases ?) . you dont put your major deployment bases on borders directly in an open desert. and i dont know where is the first big base of nigerian army in the north but i'm sur algerian army will have to cross some hundreds km inside to destroy first major bases but it will be more than 1000 km for algerian strategy deployment
+ do you think this divisions with mutiple units . tanks . ifv , mlrs , escort , mobile air defense , artillery , troops ect.... will do 1000 km or even 500 km in a blitz attack with maximum speed until maximum range operation or until they have no fuel no.stop ?? . check operational range of units . There will be at least two stops and intermediate deployment bases to secure a supply line , . you dont send your units behind niger territory with ,niger, french, US present armies + terrorists so easily . you need to secure the path .
+ big wars and invasion are not launched in a day . hee good morning lets invade nigeria tomorow . its years of politics problems and threats , even in case of an imaginary stupide surprise attack you will find even reports of french Nato moroccan intelligences in medias about our big armoured , mecanized divisions moving from the north their current known sites to the south . but in reality in case of problem with nigeria you will have a special big divisions deploy in the south years before , like we have for moroccan threat and libyan mess , for exemple NATO attack iraq only after 13 years of embargo and more years threatning them. so nigeria if is threatening by another country it will have some years to arm according to the new threat .
+ in a war with countries with no common border, no land ownership conflicts , no scenario of a large migrant population to genocide ... its impossible to start with a large-scale invasion directly, so the worst case will be limited air strikes after many months of diplomatic tension. And even just for imaginary scenario algerian invasion there is a lot of mistakes on how you imagine a war .
And finaly . maybe i dont have the right to say this , but yes nigerian army as an army of a big country in africa is weak now ! All nigerians here know it , no one is blind , i see it, i read it on this military thread . i know its frustrating even for me to see only few training alpha jets and few mig 21 copy or waiting the holy poor 3 pakist JF17 or begging US for few expensive tucanos. for a big country like nigeria they need to spend billions and billions for big contracts for new equipments and train for some years with to master them . but this subject is obvious , you push at open doors . |
