Yep, I've said it many times in the past too. But right there, is the exact mentality i was talking about lol, you said "To accept reality" That is, stay as we are , but that's the wrong mentality, that thinking is why we are stuck in the same situation for over half a century or more grin grin grin
Accepting a failed system as it is won't lead to progress, don't sit and accept it brother, do your part. grin
krattoss:
all these you said has been said countless times years back with little or no impact and change.
I guess nothing we say can change anything.
Na to just accept reality and take things as one sees it while striving and hustling to survive and make life better. and also enjoy as much as we can because this life isn't two. cheesy
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 6:55pm On Feb 05, 2019
That's because Nigeria is under-policed , the young can't get jobs, citizens themselves are responsible for the state of things, you don't sit and wait for a country to get better, you get involved and make demands, non-stop, only then will things get better. If no one is pressuring those in leadership for produce result for the people, then they won't work hard for you.
Years ago in Akure, along Danjuma road by Oyemekun grammar school, a female ( homeless) died by the side of that busy road, her rotten corpse was left there for more than a week, yet no one did anything about it, is that normal? In a state capital, to have a corpse left on the side of the road for over a week? No road, people scream up Nepa when power comes on, you hold celebrations for building a 2km road and cut ribbons, lol, and you wonder why things aren't good.
And there are major crimes because the young don't have any support system from the Government, what are they supposed to do? Not saying crime is the answer, but it's the tempting alternative when you don't have a job and need to survive, and you know the police are useless and likely won't get caught.
We have people committing rape, record it and showing their faces and put those videos online, without any repercussion.
A powerful man will slap a cop, the cop will apologize afterwards.
Where the rich can tell the police to arrest the poor, without the officer using better judgment to determine who is right or wrong, they only do as they are told, and the list goes on and on.
The cure to all these, is to participate, let the leaders fear your reaction to bad governance ,but if the majority sit and fold their hands, saying "Let's leave things to God", i can assure you, another 100 yrs from now, nothing will change. Gotta get involved and ask questions, and the role of the media is so critical in this.
We as a people, need psychological correction. Wasn't there a Governor who built a statue of Jacob Zuma not long ago? Where were the hearings about this, did the people demand explanations for it? Who paid for it etc. Nothing happened if i recall correctly.
We just gotta change the way we think, we are at the very bottom of things, and seem complacent to stay there, without thinking we need to upgrade our society and how things are done. Look at the Unity schools, no windows in the classrooms, kids are thrown onto field to cut grass, walking 25mins to fetch water from a stream and then put that bucket of water on your head and walk back to hostel and shower, etc, these things i went thru in high school, imagine such madness.
We are fvked, for real
Education, Activism and power of the media. Right there is the cure

If only i could buy you beer lol, you read my mind on this one, was just too lazy to respond to his comment grin grin]
It's all about destroying the system and making people lose faith in it, no better time to do that than during elections, if people are too scared to venture out to vote, democracy slowly dies
ugo4u:
I disagree, it has nothing to do with politicians. Upsurge in attacks has always being a tactics employed by Bokoharam to scare away voters and in extension elections to further drive home their agenda of their own brand of "Islam".
It has always being a trend even by international terrorist organisations. The talibans imploy this alot.

We should understand what "Basic Human decency" is all about, that should tell everyone that posting such images of dead people isn't right, especially of non-criminals, they deserve better.
I remember seeing a corpse of my uncle in such manner after he was gunned down during a bank robbery in that same Nigeria, he was a police officer, his body on the floor outside of the bank and people gathered there taking pictures. Think about what the loved ones of the deceased think about these things, regardless of which outlets are spreading them, it's indecency, and total lack of respect for the families of the victim(s)

Might wanna check what a wife beater shirt is, that's not it.
It's what they call a "Singlet" in Nigeria, that's a wife beater.
What you are referring to is simply called a "White T "

BruncleZuma:
What's with the white "wife beaters"...they don't look tactically appropriate.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 12:26am On Jan 15, 2019
And yet your only issue with my statement was it's comparison to the N word?
Even when what you just said in the bolded, made clear it isn't a term people wanna throw around, how's that different from what i was trying to say? Moving on, good for you sir

"racial slur"
A derogatory nick-name generally used when talking shit about people from a specific race
HORRORIZON:
No it's not. Cracka, peckerwood or Honky is akin to Nigga. Redneck is akin to calling a black person ghetto or hood. It goes along with calling a white person trailer trash.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 6:52pm On Jan 14, 2019
I got that, and I'm reminding you guys that the term is considered a racial slur, so thou must not use that word on the street grin, well specifically in the US, you risk getting unfriendly reaction, it's like akin to a white guy calling you Nigga grin
DaV8King:
Like Odunayaw said, from Colonel upwards in rank.

You ID them by the 2 flat red boards on each side of the officer's collar.
These are embroidered with a gold device(dunno the proper name)
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay:
grin grin Just wanted to know how you guys interpret it, depending on setting, redneck is typically a racial slur against a white person, so that's why i asked, out here that's not a word i can use in public, but i often see certain terms used on there, that if spoken on the street, will def be termed racist, "Chinko" comes to mind, I've seen folks use that here several times, anyways, just wanted to know what the military term for redneck means. cool
Odunayaw:
Colonel upwards
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 9:55pm On Jan 13, 2019
What does that mean? Bold part
DaV8King:
"Train hard, fight easy. Train harder, bleed less"- Private Jeremiah, 72 MSF Nigerian Army.

Please, I hope that war has not claimed that young man.

He is the type we should pray to see as a redneck one day.

I never said i had issue what the guy's point, i said take political rantings someplace else, there are bunch of threads for it.
Who didn't know there is corruption in the military? that isn't news, spewing political garbage is tiring, people who wanna do that should go to relevant threads and do so, and no one will get effed off about it, Enough said
komekn:
If we go into the heart of the matter with regards to this unnecessary prolonged war of attrition with Boko Haram. The over riding issue is CORRUPTION that canker worm affects everything and has given Boko undue advantage where there should be none.

Therefore the activities of Buratai on and off the battlefield are INTRINSICALLY PERTINENT & LINKED.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. Martin Luther King, Jr.
