grin grin And ours died in Saudi Arabia not long ago, that's because they are shameless bunch of A holes, imagine the British PM coming to Nigeria for medical care, hahaha, how on earth these leaders don't think, is beyond me.
The moment they have a sneeze, they run overseas, too sad.
Anyways, good luck with the coup plotters, it's either success or lifetime of torture if that coup fails lol

He's basically saying the Gabonese constitution says the president must step down if he is infirm and cannot perform his duties. And seeing that Bongo has suffered a stroke and has been away in Morocco for months convalescing, that provision in the constitution has been met. He also says nobody who watched Bongo's New Year speech would say the man is recovering and well enough to return to office.
He then claims the Gabonese military is the guarantor of the Constitution, which is why they've taken this step on behalf of the country.

I suspect they'll get away with it because the regional body is so weak. All depends on whether the real power in that region, France, decides Bongo's time is up. It's instructive for example, that he didn't slink away to France for medical treatment. And what's up with these arseholes who bolt overseas for medical treatment?
Here in Southern Africa, they all run to SA. The Zambian pres actually died here. The Malawian died at home, they kept it quiet and actually flew his body to SA, claiming he was alive. It was the SA government who forced them to stop lying to their people and announce his death.

The US was there because they were allowed to be there, what concerns US troops with coup in Gabon, so why even put their presence there into consideration, all they would do is leave if it becomes unstable for their troops, they will not get involved.
Why make it sound as if the US deployed troops there by force, they were allowed, and they can be asked to leave, and they will

Why don't you go and ask the Saudis, or other Royal families out there, what gave the right to rule? People are weak minded, well most, and deserve to be enslaved, that's how i see it.
I don't believe in Royalty, only an idiot does , and any man clinging to power deserve to be hanged, people are nobody's property, sadly most people wish to be

Silly people, is this how you issue invitation? I mean, why do we always use force with everything? All you have to do is question whoever wrote the article and figure out their source, which of course real journalists will never divulge, but still you don't need tens of soldiers and cops for this, and no need to seize their equipments either

This shouldn't be happening in a so called Democracy, it's utter lunacy, in reality soldiers have no power of arrest within the civilian population, unless State of Emergency has been declared and the Military took over, this shouldn't be happening
BabaOwen:
Armed soldiers on Sunday invaded Daily Trust regional office in Maiduguri, Borno state and arrested the regional editor, Uthman Abubakar and a reporter, Ibrahim Sawab.

It is not clear why they took the action but it may be connected with the lead story of Daily Trust on Sunday on military operation in the North East.

Daily Trust also learnt that the soldiers shut the gate of the Maiduguri regional office, after arresting the two editorial staff on sight at the time of the raid.

grin And you should stop typing in all caps.
What assumptions did i jump to? Those were pics of BIR, and i point out that the BIR are specialized units, aren't they? And what if they are 3,000 strong? How hard is it to kit 3,000 men, seriously?
And your pic of actual Cameroonian soldiers means? What battle zone was that taken from? How many of them were deployed to that battle zone? a few hundred? Unless you are new here, i think we've all seen regular NA troops very well kitted in battle as well.
Why are some of you guys bent on belittling our troops?
When Cameroon have tens of thousands of troops to kit and feed, let me know and show us pics of how they kit them in ongoing battle, actual battle, not chasing around guys with machetes in the woods .

Which was why i talk about numbers, the BIR is a specialized unit, Nigeria have same and are well kitted and organized.
The point is the overall formation, what's it called, Infantry i guess, are they kitted as BIR? speaking of Cameroon for example, probably not, same way NA's own aren't as well kitted as specialized units within the NA or Navy
Its super easy to kit up a few hundred soldiers, when you have to do the same for 100,000, then let's see how they do it

Haha, because i was too lazy to scroll back lol, sorry Chief, and i knew the name, just not the spelling, so didn't wanna blow it grin grin
And yes you are right, but which unit are they that we are seeing? There are certain units in NA that kit just as same, so might depend on numbers, as in how many of those Senegalese troops were deployed, and are they specialized units
jakeporeshenko:
Heheh You don’t know how to quote my post or mention my moniker ? Anyways Senegalese soldiers are always well knitted and look professional, Un missions or not.

To the guy who compared those Senegalese Troops to ours, in terms of how they were well kitted, one thing i do notice though, is that African soldiers kit well and behave well while under UN missions, same goes for Nigerian troops and police officers, I mean, we 've seen their pics as well, but yes i do get the point the man was trying to make

No worries chief, i was referring to the other guys always throwing insults around when they disagree with someone else opinion.
And yea, i disagree with your def of who is intelligent or what constitutes being intelligent.
Enjoy the music grin grin

prolog2:
It seems your idea of intelligence is: productivity in the work place. My own definition is: the ability to solve abstract and complicated problems, the ability to modelise problems and situations. The ability to work towards a solution for a very difficult problem, the ability to innovate. The degree says you have been tested on these Fields and you are capable. As for the insults I am not responsable for the behaviours of others. Now it's music time:
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 5:16pm On Jan 04, 2019
I truly hope you understand that Education isn't the only measure of intelligence, there are people who are pretty smart and never went to college.
Education doesn't always = being intelligent
It all depends on what capacity that person will be used in, some only require training and not your regular high school to University kind of education, and they will do great, there are people without formal education who can take complicated machines apart and put them back together, even a so called genius that has no experience in such line of work won't be able to make head or tail of it.
Not everything requires a degree, and that doesn't make a person intelligent either.
And why are some of you guys always insulting one another? Can't you all make your points without insults? This is weird

prolog2:
being an illiterate doesn't make one intelligent nor rugged. Being educated guaranties you can execute some mental gymnastics and it doesn't make you soft at all.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Sizzorkay: 11:04pm On Jan 03, 2019
The things some of you guys waste time on, so somehow you know it, some other wrote an article and gave this suggestions, yet you think those in the Nigerian Military didn't know or aren't aware of these things? They do.
One thing is to not know, another is to know but not give a damn.

patches689:
Suggestions were made in the article, all of them pretty simple fixes
- standardize gear to improve supply issues
- start rotating units out of theater ( some battalions have been active for over 4 years) to improve moral and allow for retraining
- start focusing on rolling out the basics that many soldiers lack (load bearing equipment, sleeping bags, field kitchens etc) again to improve moral
- huge emphasis on basic skills and principles
-i.e.: Nigeria has a huge number of artillery tubes in its inventory, every unit in the NE should be operating under an artillery umbrella.

There were also lots of tactical suggestions in the article, but I think those are the most important.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 10:23pm On Jan 03, 2019
No such thing as stretching anything too far, like i said before, it's a military thread, let's focus on that.
Point is to never forget where you came from and those who made that possible.
Those of Irish descent after many generations in America still claim it, Italians do etc, Enough said.
Apologies to the Man if he felt offended, my own point was that Black Americans call themselves African Americans as well, it's used both ways.
But he does have the right to call himself whatever he want, i have a right not to agree while still respecting his POV.

Anyways in this age grown up children's conveniently forget the sufferings of their parents and u r stretching it to far to long lost ancestors.

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 10:04pm On Jan 03, 2019
No one said it isn't his right, changing history on the other hand is silly.
When you want to omit being African, is like denying your ancestors, those whom without their suffering and dehumanization, you wouldn't exist today, so i do have a problem with that, you deny those people, you deny who you are , you deny their sufferings, how is that okay?
He can call himself an ATARI if he wants to, personally i respect his right to do that, that doesn't mean i don't find it funny or sad
Same way a guy dressed as a woman can identify as Transgender, that wouldn't stop me from thinking such fellow is lost
nemesis8u:
Though none my business

Isn't how a person classifies himself or herself a personal perogative , his / her personal choice ?

As for DNA content in a person, what is its relevance in the real world ?

A man is where is heart and home is ( be it 1gen or 4 gen or 10 gen ) . He / she simply reflects that and identifies with that.

Reminds me

My earstwhile boss was in a multi national conference in A..... ,

One gentleman said all black A.....

My boss then asked " which shade of black " ?

And looked around to emphasise his question

All of the gentlemen's present had sheepish grins on their faces

And the concerned gentleman next time correctly stated all A.........

The gentlemen's in the conference were top honches , movers and shakers in their respective countries and they understood the significance , I hope some of u will too.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 9:27pm On Jan 03, 2019
Well white is white and blacks are called blacks, lations brown.
And no, so called Whites are European Americans, they just don't call themselves that. Unless you are a Native American, sh!t don't matter.
Snoop has 71% African DNA in him, and he still have Native American DNA etc, does that mean he ain't African? He will tell you that he is.
Heck Charles Barkley has 75% African DNA in him, so European DNA in black or African Americans is somewhat negligible
Enough said, this is military forum

Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay:
Countries with shortage of manpower or low population while facing enemies or adversaries with numbers do this, it doesn't have to be current adversary, it easily could have been historic, so they left it on the books.
Now i don't know the population in those countries you mentioned, but i bet Nigeria dwarf them, so why not hire people for it when we have them in the millions? What enemy are we facing that requires us to start conscription.

South Korea for example have an enemy next door with over 1 million soldiers, so I'd say it's justifiable .
Finland and Denmark have Russia to worry about, and the one in Asia, perhaps worried about China or Japan / North Korea

AFTER A LITTLE GOOGLE SEARCH...

Finland> 5.503 million

Brunei> 428,697

Israel> 8,970,810 million

South Korea> 51.47 million

Denmark> 5,806,015 million

Nigeria > 190.9 million

This is why we don't need conscription, we have the numbers, unless we are on a war footing against Russia and US put together lol, no need

DaV8King:
True.

South Korea, Brunei, Israel, Finland and Denmark sure have such a law. Why can't we?

According to my brief read on it, NYSC was formed after the civil war, as a way for Nigerian youths to understand each others cultures, learn from one another and create unity among the population etc, which is why Coppers are never posted in their home state, instead are sent elsewhere.

EVarn:
Heard the NYSC programme was initially conceived as a two years mandatory military service for males and one year mandatory military service for females, to be taken after O levels(secondary school education), but was later downgraded to the current version by the then Supreme Military Council due to funding and age of participants. Even though I can't vouch for the authenticity of that claim, it shows that the idea of militarilizing the NYSC probably has been around for decades now.

However I agree with you, no point endangering innocent youths against their wishes. It should be a voluntary thing. We are already running multiple agencies with more or less the same function, no need to add more.

BTW, the President doesn't have the power to create any agency without approval from the NASS. However, taskforces can be created unilaterally to serve temporary assignments, without needing Senate approval. The idea of National Guard will definitely need NASS approval, and I don't see any assembly giving consent, especially with the Peace Corps issue still lingering.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay:
Turning people's children into soldiers without volunteering for it is a bad idea, national guard or not, this isn't what NYSC is all about, if Nigeria need people, don't use slave labor, hire them, there are tens of millions of people in Nigeria that can fill that role, NYSC should stay as it is.
No parent slave to send their kid to school only to end up in harms way without consent.
We have one of the youngest population in the world, use them.
Besides wouldn't a law be needed for it? A president shouldn't have the power to make such conversion
DaV8King:
We are, hence my modified suggestion saying that NYSC should become a rolling "training and garrison reserve"
