Nothing simple about that, it depends on where they are being based. If it's in the North east, then who's gonna guarantee their safety?
Are they gonna sit in an office all day? Won't drive on those same dangerous roads? How many BOKO spies are there watching their movements and that of troops? You don't need to be in uniform to be a target of BH, anyone collaborating with own Troops become target, even if these corpers are just there to cook, still dangerous . All depends on what they sign up for i guess
That's the point, if you are talking about being posted into an area without conflict, then sure, you could say that's simple.

Odunayaw:
Lemme further explain

Non military task in the "whole military", Soldiers are tied down to admin duties back at home base. That's where the corpers come in

See there, simple isn't it?

One thing is prevalent in Western Countries, the ability of the people to protest grin, no one will just hand over rights to the masses, the masses have to fight for it, while the media spread the word and educate people on their right.
Here in the US there are cops that will threaten to arrest you if you didn't provide them your identification, just for walking on the street, but guess what, those who knew their right, knows that there is no law in America that says you should provide ID to any cop, as long as you aren't suspected in committing a crime, so if people aren't educated about it, they fall prey to those with power.
I wish Nigerians protest more, peacefully, and do it constantly, i can assure you, all these rubbish of no stable power, unemployment, lack of infrastructure, insecurity, all that will vanish. That's a fact.
But when no one is pressuring the leaders to provide basic services, and expect them to perform at certain level, then they have no reason to. Since they serve gullible masses. Same mentality goes into the military, if there is no discipline at the top, the bottom will rot
At the end of the day, the problem with Nigeria lies with the people. If the people don't give a damn about how their Govt functions, then nothing will work. It's all about the mentality, we are more than ready to burn people to death for stealing 5 naira, but hail a thief who steals millions while in elected office or hold Govt position. There ya go
iamnen:
Very true.
Unfortunately in Nigeria we all know nobody wants to fight for any supposed rights.
I won't start mentioning all the high profile cases of rights abused by the military/police in 2018 alone despite all the social/mainstream media publicity. Absolutely nobody has been held accountable and nobody will.
1) Govt 2) Media 3) the military 4) civil societies have a lot of work to do to educate Nigerians, win their hearts, win their support for Govt institutions (cos it's not just a military issue)
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Sizzorkay: 5:54pm On Dec 17, 2018
lol, did those teachers and medical personnel that have been slaughtered over there by BH had military tasks?
As long as those coppers are in a war zone performing tasks for the military or displaced, it's irrelevant whether they are in non-combat role, the risk to their lives would be high, and that should be unacceptable.
Odunayaw:
Didn't you see non military tasks?
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 5:30pm On Dec 17, 2018
That's a one way street kind of view, and i get it.
It's all about knowing what to do and what not to do.
The media have a role to play in educating the people
The guy you said was begging did so also out of ignorance, because most nigerians are clueless about what their rights are.
No way in hell i will beg a soldier in that situation. Was he armed? probably not, it's about knowing your right and let that soldier understand it, you fight for your right, when you do, the oppression stops, but when you have no idea what your rights are, and no Govt or media educate people on it, then the oppression will continue.

iamnen:
US citizens don't love their service men 'by force'. They love and respect them because the feeling is mutual!
Citizens are not 'afraid' of their military.

The Nigerian military has a bigger battle to fight.
To win the hearts of Nigerians.
You can't keep brutalising the people you are meant to protect and expect them to love you.

It is not entirely the fault of the military. It is a doctrine issue. A government needs to come in and revise the training of law enforcement/military. These men act as they have been trained to act.

Every adult Nigerian has had or knows someone who has had a bitter experience with police/military.

Just last week, i witnessed an accident where a civilians car was hit from behind by a soldiers car in front of 6div port harcourt. The driver came down from his car and ran away to a distance to start begging. All the touts at rumuola, passers by, everybody kneeling and begging the soldier that was at fault.

That's what years and years of oppression causes.

People don't love their militaries in Africa. People fear them.

It's sad!

Why are some buried in body bags? What's going on there? That seems odd
And what's with leaving their bodies on the ground? Is that an Islamic thing? Doesn't seem fitting in my opinion, the arrangements could have been done way better, and to have their loved ones stand in btw their remains? The fvk, the way we do things, they deserve much more honor than what i saw in those pics.
Anyways, RIP

Well, someone sure has zero home training. wow.
It's cool to criticize, but when people turn that into a living, why not just go somewhere else and carry on? Why mess this for everyone?
Those of you who hate Buhari or COAS etc, this isn't the place for it, you are fvking this up for everyone.
I wonder why guys like that don't just start their own blog, I mean, it's free, and you can rant all day about whomever you dislike
We know, our troops could have done better, It's been said, so why overdo it?
A lot is lacking, but we should show appreciation for their effort when warranted, all these childish comments are unnecessary

lol, Nigeria and her "pretend democracy".

Situations like these are good and bad, good in the sense that this is when media outlets all over the country should cease on situations like these and report on them like there world is about to end.
Get lawmakers involved, introduce bills, curb powers these soldiers have over civilians in a non-emergency mapped out area.
Soldiers have no business enforcing laws in the country, that's the job of the police, heck a soldier can't pull you over, they shouldn't have that right or power, they shouldn't be in possession of weapons inside non-designated areas, e.g a Barack, unless they were deployed or state of emergency was declared.
But when you have a country where the citizens are utterly clueless and don't even know their rights, these things will happen.
And that's when the media should come in, educate the people on these things.
If anything those civilians should be slapping a massive lawsuit on the military right now, and they would have won, even right there in Nigeria, at least judges knows the law ( i hope), so they should see this was illegal.
It once again shows the lack of discipline Henry and i talked about, these soldiers have superiors, what would they do about this? Nothing

lol, last response to this.
I pointed something out, yet you seem to ignore it or not get what i meant
As for your moral of the story, that applies to you not me, i gave you 3 separate chances to correct it, you didn't, more or less.
All good bro, i made my first comment as a joke actually, Initial comment was "What have you been smoking", but i thought that might be taken too serious.
Anyways, never said i cared about the delivery date, wasn't arguing that with you, just the dates was what i thought was out of place.
They can deliver it in 2034, not my problem,na today them know say they need these things? After all these yrs. smh. Good luck to the country.
The war will be worn when they are serious about winning it.
Cheers bro

For the love of God, dude, I'm not mocking you, can't you see what you are writing? You keep saying 2014, we are in 2018. For real?
Why on earth are you talking about final delivery in 2014? Wanna travel back in time or something?

Contract to be completed 2014. Deliveries will begin 2019/2020 and the final aircraft will be delivered in 2014. Roughly 3 a year

Contract to be completed 2014, we are in 2018.

You can't see what's wrong with that right?
Anyways, have a nice day chief.
You were the one who said i should ask if i were clueless, so i asked.
Thanks for your time. please may i borrow that time machine when you are done? grin grin grin

I'm not arguing with you, nor was i complaining about the delivery date in the article.
Your dates on the other hand, is what doesn't make sense, so sure, explain away, how the time frame in your comment made any sense

If you read my previous comments, you will see that I've made the same point you are making now.
Regardless whether soldiers are well trained or not, the Military need more assets, that's a fact, imagine having more air assets that could have been deployed anywhere in the AOR within 15mins? How many lives would that have saved.
Doesn't matter what BH have, better to overwhelm your enemy than not.
All those tanks and jets you listed, you talking as if we have them in enough numbers, we don't, so at the end of the day, there is still massive shortage.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Sizzorkay: 12:33am On Nov 26, 2018
Hahaha, redouble efforts, these guys, so funny.
Give them the darn tools they need, not just blow hot air, silly press releases.
We are armed, so not contradicting myself, but the level of armament is pretty much equal to that of BH, Naija troops need an edge, not a level playing field .
