PoliticsRe: Kenya Mall Under Attack From Islamic Terrorists (Pictures) by SKYQUEST(m): 10:49am On Sep 23, 2013
funnyx: Somalis don't deserve any form of intervention in their land, they are extremely egoistic, racist, clannish and opiniated set of people. That's why I always say; leave them to their fate, let them keep killing each other one day they'll wipe themselves off the face of earth.
Wrong! When they have done killing all the innocent among them, they will turn to kill all the innocent outside their territory. That is the way they think and operate. The worldwide intervention in Somali is long overdue.
PoliticsRe: Kenya Mall Under Attack From Islamic Terrorists (Pictures) by SKYQUEST(m): 10:33am On Sep 23, 2013
ayinba1: It is sad that innocent people have suffered in this heinous act. We muslims do not support the harm done to innocent people by muslims or non muslims. For those wishing ill on Islam and all muslims, it is a shame that you cannot see what Islam preaches versus what some people who are muslims do.

Wishing all muslims dead is not any better than what these people have done. The hatred in your hearts is just a step away from a terror act.
May the good Lord comfort those who have suffered losses on both sides of the crisis, amen.
I am not a muslim but I concur with this submission. You can not condemn this lunatics for their killinglike and be quity of the same conspiracy by wishing death to other innocent muslims.
I am however at a loss why Islam is amost present in all terrorist acts all over the world.

Christianity EtcRe: Kumuyi Offers To Resign Over Son's Wedding Controversy by SKYQUEST(m): 2:16pm On Jul 07, 2013
some of the post i have seen here so far shows some people are angry with the church and it is pay back time; for every man or woman who has shared an office with a deeper life member but has not been able to steal because of that member, they have finally get their pounds of flesh, i see some are pouring out their venom not because of what really happen but because they have been so fraustrated by some deeper life members who will not allow them to take bribe, destroy other people's lives or falsify records.
i may not agree with that church 100% on its doctrines, but with deeper life around, there is some sanity in the country. kumuyi is one of the pastors in this country i respect and trust, there are so many very good deeper life members also.
though i am not a member of this church, i think if one seriously think of heaven after dealth, one must attend a church where they take holy living very seriously like this church.

CareerRe: Mistakes A Guy Must Not Make In His 20s by SKYQUEST(m): 9:36pm On May 09, 2013
Hard. Very down to earth. I am wishing this is not true. But I think it is.
Brilliance9000: Women by nature, don't like to read all these. All they care is to trap you and keep you hostage. Way to go guys...get your education and career together. Trust me...women will be all over you. Intelligence, personality and money remains the biggest attributes to have. By Nigeria standard; money alone can pull it off. If in Diaspora, typically, looks, personality and intelligence can get you there. Now back to the spine of my post... I know a few people who foolishly fell into that scripture of "true love" in their 20s. They ended up having kids, dropped from school, had to work non-degree jobs to raise their kids. Before you know it, ten yrs have passed. They break up; guess what? She goes and marries an educated, career-fixed guy, that has his stuff together. As soon as she does this, then it hits you, what have I done with my life. You see, women don't give a sh$it about you, when it comes to making their life decision of who to be with. THIS IS WHEN YOU WILL KNOW A WOMAN IS VERY WICKED. NOT EVEN HER FATHER OR MOTHER CAN CHANGE HER MIND ON THAT. SHE IS FOLLOWING HER HEART( 90% of them only use their heart and don't use their MIND....ability to think deeply.) AND DOESN'T CARE IF SHE RIGHT OR WRONG UNTIL SHE HITS THE WALL HERSELF.

let me tell you something guys. Yes, some love is genuine but if both of you are still young, not stable in life, no finances, no education, no career, in most cases, no matter how strong the love is, breakup is inevitable.

EducationRe: Is Mathematics Really Important? by SKYQUEST(m): 6:12pm On Mar 27, 2013
Jarus: I used to be poor in Maths. In fact in primary school, I was nicknamed "I don't know maths" - for giving that as an answer when asked by my teacher to solve one maths problem. smiley

I was very poor in Maths till SS2. I was however fortunate to meet one private teacher in SSS2 who taught me factorization and that was the first 'complex' maths I knew. Almost miraculously, from that point I found myself being able to solve some questions. I decided to go back to those maths textbooks of JSS 1-3, read them myself, now got it. I later moved to SSS 1 textbook and later SS2. I can't explain how I was getting it. Few months later I wrote GCE (in SS2) and scored B2 in Maths. That was my turning point - from being complete olodo in Maths up till SS2 to scoring B2 in WAEC(only 2 people scored A1 in Maths in my set.

That motivation further drove me to go learn Further Maths voluntarily. I started from integration (imagine learning integration without starting from differentiation). Mathematical courses later became my favourites when studying economics in the university.

The point is, if you believe so much in yourself, you can be good at it.

Now, should maths be made compulsory? I think for courses as law, sociology, political science, English and other arts subjects (except philosophy) a pass (E8 - 40%) should be acceptable. For economics, geography, accounting, a credit pass (C6 - 50%) should be the minimum.

Of course, no need talking about sciences and engineering, which bedrock mathematics is.
Doing well in Maths is all about interest. I wrote SSCE and WASCE thrice because of Mathematics. This however lead to my self discovery in Math; got A1 in my last attempt, went ahead to UNILAG to study mathematically related course and finished another mathematically related professional course in a record time.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Roads Are Getting Better- ABC Transport by SKYQUEST(m): 4:16pm On Mar 27, 2013
If you hate GEJ you will never see anything good in him and if you like him, you will always rise to his defence. My advise for every one is pray for him to succeed now that he is the only President you have got; come 2015, you can decide if he remains your President or not. I believe the road are getting better though!

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Approves N384bn Severance Package For PHCN Workers by SKYQUEST(m): 10:29pm On Feb 21, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The reforms done so far in PHCN is earth shaking, unprecedented and history making. No wonder we'v been in darkness all this while. The process has been tedious and financial cost collosal. Only a focused and firm govt with enormous political will can see this process thru without hitches.

GEJ is about to make history. I urge him to remain steadfast and keep his eye on the ball. The current reforms in PHCN, particularly privatisation, will be the greatest singular positive development in this country in decades
I thought they said this guy is a retardee!
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Commends Lagos For Eko Atlantic City's Successful Completion by SKYQUEST(m): 10:20pm On Feb 21, 2013
Fashola has done well so far in my opinion. However, given the available resources to Lagos and the job scope in terms of the size of Lagos, I believe some folks will outperform his excellence, the governor.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Commends Lagos For Eko Atlantic City's Successful Completion by SKYQUEST(m): 10:17pm On Feb 21, 2013
PapaBrowne: Proof of 3 trillion?? Calculate the budget over the past 6 years and include the loans and you'll see its much more than 3 trillion.

I wouldn't hold forth for Jonathan. Even though I think he has performed better than all the previous presidents, I think his Government is also very wasteful. Besides Nigeria is a very large and complex country and I cannot see all that is happening accroos board at the same time. But from what I have seen, his 2 years performance beats OBJ'S 8 years, Abacha's 5 years, Babangida's 8 years, Buhari's 2 years and Shagari's 4 years, same way Fashola's first 2 years were better than Tinubu's 8 years combined.

As for Lagos, sincerely, there is little improvement to justify Fahsola's 3 trillion. I have been in many cities worldwide and I have lived in a city that witnessed transformation in such a short period. Lagos is growing especially economically, but infrastructural development is crawling. If the city is to move at this pace, it would take another 70 years to bring the city to mere Johannesburg's standard.
But still I appreciate Fashola's effort because governance is collective and must involve the participation of the citizenry. Nigerians are not very good citizens so it makes the effort of good leaders look slow.
Why should it take a Chaougory who is originally Lebanese to dream up a wonderful project like this? Why are the wealthy Nigerians thinking of how to create new narratives like this Eko Atlantic?? If we had more Chaugoriys as Nigerians, the country would be better for it.
Bros, even if i don't completely agree with you, there are however some truth in your submissions
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Commends Lagos For Eko Atlantic City's Successful Completion by SKYQUEST(m): 10:12pm On Feb 21, 2013
PapaBrowne: I am tired of the stupidity that runs on Nairaland.
The shortest man in that picture(the lion of Bourdillion) is the key partner in this project. He was Governor of Lagos for 8 years while Jonathan was Governor of Bayelsa for 1 and 1/2 years. I want you to show me what Tinubu did in his 8 years as governor of Lagos asides accumulating the wealth of the ordinary citizens.
About what Jonathan has done as president- I can show you numerous things scattered all over the country which are unprecedented in Nigeria's history.
Bill Clinton surely must have noticed that the Murtala Mohammed Airport has improved considerably since Jonathan came on board. He probably also read about the signing off of the power sector to private companies and he knows that that is good news for Nigerians. His foundation is very interested in Food security and has noticed the renewed efforts at improving Agriculture as pursued by Adesina the Agric Minister.

Fashola is doing pretty well but anytime I'm in Lagos, the city doesn't look like one which has expended about 3 trillion Naira over the last 6 years.
Lagos is a very small patch of Land and the equivalent of some local governments in some states. 3 Trillion should build world class infrastructure of the type you see in many asian countries. But all I see is a 50km dual carraige road in Lekki that is taking 8 years to complete and then a good number of repaired roads accross the city-- roads that were built in the days Lagos was capital. The new projects been built are taking forever to complete and dont seem like they would see the light of day anytime soon. Some should please show me new real time infrastructure projects that Fashola has complted in 6 years as Governor of Nigeria's richest state whose infrastructure has already been built by the Federal Government.

I dont want to derail the topic. I am proud of this moment in history. Lagos needs Eko Atlantic to stand shoulders amonst its peers worldwide. I am proud of the city and wish so bad for it to be completed on time. Happy also to see Jonathan, Tinubu and Fashola in the same picture put aside partisanship to support development.
At last I can see some intelligent discuss that one can have brilliant discussions on and agree or disagree with based on substance rather than the too many sadist comments that just post anything because they can afford an internet connection.
PoliticsRe: Filth: Lagos To Shut Ladipo Market Indefinitely by SKYQUEST(m): 7:28pm On Feb 20, 2013
savanto: I want to be very objective here. Several times in the past, the Lagos State government had always threatened to shut down, and had indeed shut down at several times the market.

The traders in a bid to remain gainfully employed had to come together through their various Unions and agree on a certain amount of money which they will use in SETTLING the state government. This amounts to several millions of naira.

After this SETTLEMENT, the market would be re-opened for business once again. Something is indeed wrong in the entire system. Government should allocate a land to them for their trade outskirts of the city, and if they have already done this and the traders refused to move, the government should enforce the law through its security operatives in the state. There is absolutely no way that you can do such business of greese that the environment would look clean especially when you have illiterates and semi-illiterates whose population out weighs that of the few educated ones. It is not about ethnic cleansing please.

My 3 cents.
True talk. At least I KNOW money changed hands when Alaba Suru and Odun Ade building materials markets were shut few days ago, some MILLIONS changed hands before they were opened. In my opinion, most of these markets closures are based on vested interest rather the interest for the reasons presented!

PoliticsRe: Amanpour Interviews Nigerians In Lagos About Power Outage by SKYQUEST(m): 6:59pm On Feb 05, 2013
Those interviewed and those tweets cannot be a representative of the populace, the spread of the sample of those interviewed also will not give a resonable position of the power situation in the country. That said, except your area or location have particular unrssolved issue with PHCN, generally, I do believe the power situation in the country has improved, let's be objective here; ignore the hatred you have for GEJ for now. I live in a part of Isolo LGA, on the average, we have about 16 hours of power everyday. There is improvement of power in the area my company is in VI, although most time we still run on generator because the power is not good enough to efficiently power our offices.

PoliticsRe: How Will You Rate Jonathan's Interview With Amanpour? by SKYQUEST(m): 10:38am On Jan 24, 2013
It is said attitude is everything and I say MINDSET is in everything. Once you have a mindset on GEJ you are mostly likely to loose your objectivity about him. For those who hate him, there is nothing, I mean nothing GEJ can ever do right and expending energy to make them see his good is an effort in futility; the root of their perception is in their mindset, you can't change it. For those who love him, they will always rise to his defence sometimes forgetting he is human and has mankind fraity in him. For me since he is my current President, I will wish him well and see what I can do to make him succeed because in his doing well I will be directly or indirectly lifted up. For now, I will try to be as objective as possible and not react base on my mindset of him. Come next election, I will decide if I will LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM so I can make my choice of the next President, for now he is the only President I have and must demand performance from him but not act, write or talk to pull him down. I will also not wish, he really do not succeed as the current President. I am an unrepentant believer in the gradual but steady advancement and growth of the Nigerian enterprise!

Billyonaire: GEJ is the best president Nigeria ever had. I want someone to disagree with me. GEJ is not an orator, but he is sure to do the right things with principles of humanitarian alacrity, I want someone to disagree with me. GEJ is not the best Nigerian for the Top Job, but currently he is our President and merits our Respect, Love and Support as we can not take him off his job until his tenures expire, I want someone to agree with me. For those whose jobs are to criticize, I dare you to look in the mirror and prove to me that you are more educated, more intelligent and more humble than Lord GEJ. I will end it by saying, if you drag a man at the top of the ladder by the leg, when he is falling, he is pushing you all the way down and his impact at landing will mutilate your organs. Love your president, there is more to Patriotism, it is a Godly command. Peace Profound!

farem: Management of Nipost and myopic federal government have bastard Nipost along the years.
Many of their traditional services have been given out to banks and other agencies- giro (money transfers). JAPANESE POSTAL IS BIGGER THAN ALL OUR ACCO BANKS AND EMPLOYS THOUSANDS OF JAPANESE- I mean it is a money power!. This is just because their government never plays with it. Nipost failure is a reflection of Nigeria government failure, tribalism, corruption and nepotism in civil service. Our Government can kill anything, remember NITEL?!
Our Government is not the one killing anything, we are. Apologies to these old men being owed, but have NIPOST staff and its management worked hard enough to really deserve this pension? How much revenue have they generated over the years to make NIPOST a viable entity? Mtel operated in the same environment where MTN, ECONET and GLO did, but it died a natural death, because it was related to government and because of 'we no de sweat for government work' mentality, Look at all these other government parastatals and agencies from PHCN to water board, they are suppose to be cash cow given opportunities available to them, but alas, government will still have to pay huge sum to either pay salaries or severance to their staff. At least, a responsible entity should be able to generate funds to cover even if it is only its overheads. Government should be bold enough to privatise and hands off all these non critical agencies, that is the only way to make them responsible!

eagle,eye:
Hey, it's okay. The guy you quoted just suggested that a tracker could be used in monitoring the vehicle.
You will agree with me that transport biz is lucrative, even though it has a lot of pitfalls. We should encourage enterpreneurs who think of venturing into it, rather than discourage them. Like I said earlier, without risk taking how do you wish to succeed.
In America, it has been noted that for every 10 businesses that opened 9 is bound to fail within it's first 5 years. But the one that has a chance to succeed will be given maximum encouragement. Most developed economies rely heavily on small and medium scale enterprises.
The sure way to fail in life is to make up your mind on doing something and look for a thousand reasons why you must do it irrespective of data to the contrary; this is what you call sentiment. What I usually ask people that do this is why ask for opinion when you have already made up your mind! Listein to the other person not thinking the way you are thinking, do a proper analysis of the situation and then make up your mind, that is the sure way to go.
Danfo business is good and lucrative but in my opinion, 8 out of every 10 investors in this business will fail. The fact that you see so many danfos on the road does not mean the owners are all succeeding. Look around you, you also see myriads of danfo parked for sale or parked because they are not serviceable. This is because people venture into it thinking the operators are making a lot of money and they want to as well.
Make sure you know what you are doing before venturing into this business; KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE is very key to succeed in danfo business.

caesaraba: thank you joor! I'm about starting this biz (although not in Lagos). People kept bombing me with bad tales and then I got advice from someone who has been very successful in the biz.

I think many people fail in this biz cos they only view it as an easy money spinner and not a proper business.

Apart from the usual "getting of good drivers and mechanics,"

Here's what I have decided to do:
1. Open an office to face the biz (plus my other offline biz) squarely since I'm starting with 3 vehicles.
2. Take my monthly profit as a against 20 days return. The rest goes for maintenance and miscellaneous.
3. Keep my expectations at a very realistic level.
A biz like this is worth doing well. Those that succeed don't have two heads!
why don't you experiment with one vehicle first, gather experience and decide if you will really invest in this business. doing this will limit ur loss if anything goes wrong. for me, this is a no no business!

A colleague of mine on our way home from work last Friday told me about an issue he was passing through at home. A younger sister to the wife with two toddlers irreconcilably separated from her husband and is currently leaving at his house of a family of six in a three bedroom apartment in Lagos. This guy does not like the idea more so as another younger brother of the wife was already living with the family. He is not sure how to handle this issue. I really didn't know how to advise him since he claims his house seems to be the only convenient place she could live with her children since her parents house is far away in Mowe and she might not find a reasonable job to do there. How will you advise this guy?
