Ariani: What work exactly has IPOB done?
"Rabblerousing" ? MASSOB did more than that. How exactly has IPOB enriched Igbo nationalism and advanced Igbo interests?
Under IPOB beggarly multi ethnic BIAFRA of tower of Babel. Ndiigbo became object of rudicule to insignificant minorities who in real sense has nothing to offer offer us, if we get our house in order. IPOB derailed Igbo nationalism.
You only think IPOB made headways because they came at the era of social media unlike MASSOB, so they had access to Internet to dispatch their agenda quicker and gather more followers far and wide than MASSOB could have ever dreamed of. This is somehow funny and I'll tell you why. One can never claim IPOB derailed Igbo nationalism because though the organization does not strictly fight for Igbo areas alone, in the mode of operation it is STRICTLY ENSURED that the erroneous state lines and the divisive "my state" identity that has plagued Ndigbo since after the war is eradicated. The cohesion IPOB brought with that move is unprecedented. In fact, it is that eradication of the nonsense "state identity" that makes IPOB so formidable. People don't know. Individual Igbo states don't exist in IPOB, this in turn brought forward the Igbo bu otu nationalistic drive. Now look at erstwhile "timid" Ebonyi today, boldly identifying. Do you know how grateful they are to Nnamdi Kanu. You know how things used to be. You can't compare IPOB and MASSOB at all in mode of operation. It is not about social media, IPOB is well structured (mind you thousands of MASSOB members defected to IPOB and yet IPOB retains its structure, focus and mode of operation). In fact I have had intellectualists opine that IPOB is the most organized body in Nigeria today. Today Igbo identity is always on the fruntburner, from Igbos in Delta, to Igbos in Rivers, to Bonny, Opobo. Even daringly Kalabari and Okrika. No time since the war has Igbo people been this assertive. It is a threat to the status quo that has been maintained all this while. And who are the majority perpetuating this Igbo discussions : IPOB "foot soldiers". So all these is derailing of Igbo nationalism? Unbelievable. Eastlink said he is a realist this morning. I smiled at the statement. I reckon you fancy yourself a realist too. If one cannot rid sentiment from reasoning one cannot be said to be a realist, for sentiment is idealism. Plainly, if you cannot shun bias when considering a subject matter and pick the obvious positives you are halfway to failing. |

Preliminary investigations have shown there is a considerable population of Igbo people in Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa state namely the Osekwenike, Abuetor, Okpokri. While many know of this there are indications Igbos are to be found beyond this three communities.
We must therefore collectively invest our energies to seek out this children of God indigenously found across this state, and bring them back into the fold. Udo. |

Ariani: For our IPOB brothers who think everything starts and ends with their "suplim lida", you all should try and read this thread:https://www.nairaland.com/500126/true-extent-alaigbo-igboland
I, like many Igbo nationalists here, was there at the beginning to the end of that thread. Of course I was under different moniker then. Read carefully through that thread.
Because it would appear some of you are attributing the ground work of Igbo nationalists who went all over Nigerian forums, from Nigeriavillagesquare of those days, to bestnaijaforum, etc that held sway before nairaland took over, preaching the gospel of true extent of Igboland and arguing for Igbo only Biafra without Minorities, especially Ijaws, to MNK.
MNK only arrived to the scene in 2014 or thereabouts and only became active in 2015 following Buhari lack of tact. And I can tell you that all MNK did was put a stop to the pan Igbo nationalism movement that was beginning to take hold then and replaced it with Babelian Biafra of "two wrapper" wearing tribes. MNK and IPOB only succeeded in derailing the pan Igbo nationalistic movement that was gathering pace, and replaced it with a shameful era of unity begging to minorities. The only good to come out this now drawing to end MNK era, is that, many Igbos youths who know nothing about history of Ndiigbo and minorities in the East, were exposed to Igbophobia of minorities and now understand better why Igbo nationalists who are guided by history, insisted on Igbo only Biafra from the beginning.
So to an extent, MNK played a big role in this our struggle, but then his role must be put in the right context. Good work and highly commendable. I think someone else said something similar this morning. But realistically speaking, from 2015 upwards, in Igbo land is this comparable to the magnitude of IPOB's work so far? |

OfoIgbo: Of course he is playing a key role especially when it comes to firing up the Igbo base, as it were.
But he lacks c drain leadership qualities that disqualifies him from being the overall leader of the struggle. The council of elders would have been the ideal leaders of the struggle while Kanu man's the radio station and evangelism arm. Th council of elders would have had more success in coming up or endorsing a proper roadmap to achieving Biafra, and ensuring the right people are in charge of the appropriate duties. The council of elders would have covered IPOB with their personal honour which would have made it more difficult for IPOB members to be killed like rats with no consequences to the perpetrators of such crimes.
The council of elders would have attracted more international listening ears in the corridors of world power e.t.c So with everything we have seen you have the mind to call "elders" here? Oh my God. I will not bother telling you anything : any time one wakes is his morning. |

BKayy: LOL It is OK if you don't want to specify IPOB for some reasons which I don't know. I won't coerce you.
But remember that we all witnessed MASSOB and Igbo territory was not their concern. The first person to break the barrier of Southern Nigeria being the barrier of Igbo land is MNK when he brought Umuezekoha of Benue state to peoples awareness. He made Ubani, Igwe nga/Opobo and Igwe Ocha/Port Harcourt a jingle although Port Harcourt never worked out. Just for reference purposes. The Port Harcourt own too is working. The Ikwerre play that card whenever the Ijaw come claiming the place. |

At what time did the ibos starting rulling bonny [/s] Bonny has always been Igbo from the Ndoki founders : Okpara Ndoli, Agbayiegbe, Amakuba, Asimini. You need to read up. |

oyatz: Bros, read wide and travel wide. There is no clear cut boundaries where one ethnic stop and another one start, there always areas of overlap. This is most obvious in Forested areas where people live in close proximity to each other and examples abound all over the world.
The classification of indigenous peoples in this country into what we now call ethnic groups was introduced by the British and it's a very recently fabricated stuff.
There are people today who identify as Ijaws but whose grandfather or great-grandfather came from Mbaise, Okigwe or Amaigbo. Similarly there are people today who identify as Igbos but their great-grandfathers came from Akure, Gboko, Bini, Agenebode, Ikot-Abasi, Agbor, Eleme or even Cameroon. Yes, you are right. In Opobo's case they are Igbo centuries ago and Igbo today. Politically backed historical revisionism fails on scrutinization, all the time. |

[s] slim75d: bro you can not be fubara and be ibo. What does fubara mean in ibo in ijo fubara means luck the full word is ibifubara meaning goodluck all this names ive written u can search them on facebook pepple is a distortion of perekule just as opobo is a distortion of opubo, and jaja is to jubo jubogha the whitemen couldn't pronounce those names so they change it to what they can pronounce [/s] One can be Fubara and be Igbo if they are in proximity to non Igbos. In Nsukka they bear Idoma and Igala names, takes nothing from their Igbo identity. In Delta, they bear Urhobo/Edo names whilst being Igbos. In Ebonyi they bear some Ejagham/Ekoi names. They are yet Igbos. Perekule is as recent as WhatsApp. That name is disgusting for a royalty because it is fake, a creek fabrication. Opubo is Ama-Opobo, Opobo town. |

Eastlink: If you want to see such links type Opobo and Bonny Nairaland on Google and it will bring up old topics and arguments you never imagined. Search it on Google.
I even wrote one of my first thread on Bonny/Opobo Nairaland when I joined in 2015. It was a fall out of threads which gave false information from 2006 up till 2015 by the likes of Tonye and other INC/IYC guys. However other Igbo dudes with less information tried to correct that false information. There was also thread about Okrika too whom the Ijaws lied never spoke Igbo until one old Okrika Nairalander was invited and his comments was a shocker. Most of these threads are on the Culture and Travel section and some in Politics. Nairaland lost most of them during the hacking of 2015 but many still remained. Search the keywords on Google and attach Nairaland to it and you’ll see the threads.
You can also keep time to check outdated Forums like Naijabestforum and Nigeria Village Square to see old topics on Bonny/Opobo. You’ll also see argument on Ika Igbo origin and a lot of other Igbo tribes with identity crisis. Okay. That's commendable. It shows the Igbo spirit can never be subjugated no matter what. However we will be honest in submitting that Nnamdi Kanu brought it all to the front burner. In a way he really just picked up from where you guys stopped and magnify it greatly. |

Mind you okoloama(bonny) was a major port for slave trade ibos were the essential commodity, slaves (ibos), rejected by the whitemen were held back by there ijaw masters to man their war canoe, some were used as sacrifice to adum (god of the sea) some very loyal ones were made chief [/s] Mehn you're talking rubbish. Liebermantic: Opobo and Bonny will never go along with Ijaw if Nigeria divides along Ethnic lines.. Opobo and Bonny kings and People were originally Igbo..The fake History of Origin started by Prof Alagoa of Nembe around 1972...The old documented History of Opobo and Bonny showed they are Igbo.. Ijaws should just go with Bayelsa State alone..No Ijaw in Rivers State It is not a case of the kings being originally Igbo. They both are Igbo till today. |
