Education › Re: Most Expensive Universities In Nigeria (2014) by slydog(m): 6:46pm On Jul 06, 2014
Promhize: Bro, I don't know about University of Port-harcourt, but Post-graduate programmes and Undergraduate programmes are miles apart in all ramification are miles apart in a school like OAU.

I'm in my finals in OAU and I would not advise anyone school here. I'm serious.

You did not address a specific point anyway, however, intellectually I do not believe public school graduates are better than those from private schools but the grades (GP) I believe are. (I do not believe intellectual capacity can be measured by one's GP).

Should I talk about lecturers subtracting at least 15marks from our scores because we were too much that passed SSC 103 in 100level (and most of us ended up with B's), a lecturer not marking a students script and automatically giving him an 'F' or lecturers telling to your face that nobody will score above 40marks in an exam of a possible 60marks, in dept of Political science it is so bad they'd tell you the best student would get a B, in english from part 1, you already know a first class is impossible even if have the ability.

Note, I argued not on intellectual ability, facilities or quality of teaching, but on grade quantity.
I don't get your point on gp or intellect. My point is if given the right environmnet, I am sure of my self anywhere, be it private or federal, uniport or oau. I hope u know that in msc, anything less than a c is fail, and the course is to be repeated, so even if a lecturer plans to shave marks, belive me, pple will still pass. I don't settle for less, the sky is not the limit but the starting point.

Am still waiting to see a comment that will say something on the quality of graduates been churned out by the "so called private" universities by those who think and call the private universities advanced secondary school. Rather than argue with facts and constructive points, they only end up saying poos like church member tithes, this that this
Forgeting that the best schools in the world like Harvard is privately owned and one of the most expensive school.

Now talking about quality, lemme throw in a lil.

I graduated from a private university and served in kano, of course there will always be a time when we'll gist of how 'difficult every corps member school is' and when I tell them where I graduated from and how I made second class upper, most times, you find out that the ones who are quick to tell you your school is an advanced secondary school are the ones who graduated with 2.2 or even 3rd class.

I took it upon my self to test the waters of these (rather than go abroad for master) public schools for a masters degree to confirm if my cgpa of 3.93/5 in a private university was fluk, thus I enrolled in uniport immediately after service, today I have graduated with an msc degree with cgpa of 4.14/5, I and the course rep having the highest cgpa, and frm my dept, we were only 5 eligible to proceed to phd based on minimum requirement of 4point out of a class of 30,passing all courses @ one sitting.

Even better than what I made in a private univeristy.
So, let's argue with facts, not the little rantings of laymen with not constructive thinking aptitude.
Education › Re: Just Finished Marking WAEC. I Cry For Our Future. by slydog(m): 10:42am On Jul 01, 2014
juwoonn: As we conclude this year's June/July WAEC marking, I cry for the future of these students.
I marked 645 scripts in Economics for some Onitsha schools and only 2 candidates scored above 40/80 in paper2. One scored 45 and the other 48 while more than 80% scored below 20. Some 2/80, 1/80 despite my simple marking. Honestly like 3 candidates wrote only "PLEASE HELP ME" in their answer booklets.

One thing I noticed is that all the centers I marked are public school centers. What has gone wrong with our public schools?

A lot of professors in Nigeria today were products of public schools, our president and most Governors are products of public schools, but why have they taken their children abroad, to private schools and destroy the public schools for the less privileged.
Just like De javu, a guy walked up to me this morning in my office and asked- "are they submitting civIC here?'
I asked what is is civic? Only for him to bring out his cv, then I realised he meant cv

He studied economics from Ambrose Ali University and told me he graduated with second class upper, I was happy, then I ask which renowed economist is Fiscal policy attributed to?
Guess the answer: Adam Smith embarassed lipsrsealed

Career › Re: Who Must You Be To End Your Struggle With Money? by slydog(m): 10:30am On Jan 04, 2014
DJurry: A popular saying goes that money makes the world go round. Sure it does!
This tells us that money is so important in the areas in which it works. In short, it makes our lives better.

But Are You Getting Enough Of It?

If you work for someone and you answered YES to this, there's a problem.
No matter how much you earn, you're still not earning your true worth!

You're Making Your Boss Richer!

Yes, you are. You only earn a 'fraction' of the wealth you help your boss create! And your precious energy and time is used to earn this little.
I do not say working for someone is bad. I do not say enjoying your work is bad. But minding your boss' business keeps you from earning your worth!

How To Earn Your Worth.

If you're in a job or a job seeker, note this: "A job is a short-term solution to a long-term problem" -> Robert Kiyosaki.
What I mean by this is that you cannot be in a job forever and the promise of a steady pension after retirement is more of a lie!

To earn the wealth you most deserve through your efforts, you must be your own boss first. You must own your own business.

A Business Opportunity!

I'm here to introduce you to an easy & legal 'way' to start being your own boss, earning your worth and securing your financial future.

To know what I have for you, all you need do is put down your 'email address' so I can forward it. [=>Only honest, determined people in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu & Port-Harcourt<=].
*BONUS*
In addition, I'll send to your mail a FREE e-book that will radically change your thoughts for the better about wealth & success. [Only if you read it!]
It's titled "The Business Of The 21st Century" by world-class author -> Robert Kiyosaki.

PLEASE NOTE...
*This is for a 'short' time only for I can only work with a certain number of people...
*This is NOT a get-rich-quick thing!
*If you like somebody telling you how much you can make and when you should arrive & leave work, then this is NOT for you..
Hello op, pls send to me, I really need it for this year

Career › Re: Be A Risk Management Professional by slydog(m): 11:49am On Dec 29, 2013
MARK STEVE: After I achieved my PMP, I started to look for a new challenge.   I found that the PMI offers a certification on risk management called RMP.  Its basically similar to the PMP certificate and will enable you to work as a Risk Manager in projects.  I found the following book called “Study Guide for the PMI Risk Management Professional Exam” which is written by Abdulla Alkuwaiti.  It is currently the only book on the subject and is inline with the new version of the PMBOK.  It presents the material for the exam in a very easy way and has ton of examples and practice questions.  You can check the book at:

slydog: In addition to your requirements, I also want someone who knows the internal workings of the CBN, someone who's worked there or is currently there, not a newbie who will have to learn the ropes.
Also, since we've tried Soludo an economist to the core, and Sanusi a banker to the core, me feels we need and economist to the core once again.

The only person meeting this criteria is no other than Dr. Sarah Alade, a home breed economist from UI
And guess what? She will become the first female CBN governor

naijaking1: The best candidate for this post should have an academic background that stand up to scrutiny.
Someone who can read and write---in English.
Someone who can add, subtract, and multiple--with ease.
Someone who would understand basic economics--such as demand and supply.
Someone who has an impeccable record as an accountant, banker, and economist, not--not some political hag trying to add the position to his resume for higher offices in the future.
In addition to your requirements, I also want someone who knows the internal workings of the CBN, someone who's worked there or is currently there, not a newbie who will have to learn the ropes.

That statement was made over 3 years ago, today am 25years, and I work in a Bank.

Well I've always been the youngest student where ever I go, even in my office, am the youngest, the sweet single bankers there are all 28yrs up, so am like where's my girl? Is she really in secondary school?
Pondering on it make me want to actually believe the statment, and also due to the fact that most ladies I tend to like are often older than me.

Does this mean there are no ladies of 21 - 25 who are working? To crown it all I have a masters degree!

Pls I need advice on meeting this class of ladies who are young and independent, and if you (guys) in my shoes, how do u cope?

Matured suggestions pls

The op should change the topic of the tread, a balanced budget is one where recurrent and capital expenditure are equal.

Notwithstanding, developing economies like Nigeria don't need balanced budget, neither do we need budgets skewed towards recurrent expenditure. We need budgets where at least 65percent is spent on capital project.

wink winkSo it means the job role involves the sale, distribution of petroluem products. i rem my preferred area of interest is procurement. do you have idea of the pay package?

Augustrush: Total upstream and Total downstream are 2 different and seperate companies though they have the same parent company. Total downstream is Total Nigeria PLC and they are quoted on the stock exchange. Total upstream is not. If you enter Total through this process, you will be in the downstream industry and cannot be transferred within the company to the upstream company. Working in downstream is pretty cool as I heard Sha. I wish all invited the best
