As a man you should be creative, do part-time work and having experienced, few years later when you realize what is giving you some quick and steady cash, you'll invest more on it.
I'm a medical student but I tell you medical student are the poorest until they start working. Why? because of the time we give into study while others like you in business, engineering are doing some side work.
Soon or later before we even finish clinicals most of you are driving.
Don't be against education, look at what you can offer to the society in return you're gaining something. After I discovered the secret, I start up something, and one day when I saw the money coming before I travel out, I wanted to go mad to say why waste my time all this while? It's just a little shift in the brain thinking further than your peer and there, you hit.
Today I have a software company, I have my app people are downloading and every month subscription I received disbursement. I told myself medicine will not give me what I want, and it's true because no doctor will employ 20staff and paying them good salary that enables them to pay their children fees. But tech can. Facebook, Microsoft, MTN, DStv,Amazon, jumia, konga, paystack, flutterwaves, Kuda and lots of tech companies out there employ hundreds -thousands of staffs and they're paying them good amount. That was my mentality it's not JuJu or illuminatic whatever.
So op leave the idea that Nigerian school is not doing well, they're doing well otherwise Saudi Arabia, UK, USA and other countries won't be coming to steal our doctors behind close doors.

The only thing I ever benefited from Buhari was lifting my family out of poverty, the cash (loan) called household facilities really benefited alot of people. In a develop country, institutions set their fees and it's left for you to choose either to go to university A or university C depending on your budget. Reason why it's hard to see foreigners in our school because our education system is very backward, poorly equip and corrupt.
Just last week I notice one of my lecturer here in university of Alberta Edmonton Canada prof.(name withheld) brought his daughter and the girl just started medicine here too. He's a professor in department of pharmacology. Why did he has to bring her daughter here? Good education system irrespective of the cost. I bet you to Google how much medical student are paying here. Mine was scholarship and when I left, the woman who taught me chemistry told me never take this opportunity for granted while in Canada.
So it's a good development if federal university increases fare. You'll see white people in Nigerian school plenty,and things will changed.
I know others will say what about the poor masses. Well, even in the USA or other African countries were we have Nigerians, school fees there are still high, the poor are able to get in with government scholarship, the institution entrance exams performance etc. JAMB results can be use as criteria to say once you score atleast 240 and above, government pay half of your fees. That's what is happening in other countries. It's called student loans. You don't pay anything,even your library fee is charged from the student account. You only pay for accommodation (those in 70% bursary). But a full tuition like those in 100% covers accommodation too.
With this you'll see progress. But while fees is 19-35k, students are taking that for granted and the government not showing concerns to the school because you're indirectly paying for nothing! You need a steady light in the country, how much are you paying for electric power? People in the UK complain of bills because the government is charging them and providing the service too.
Since I came here I haven't seen any day power went off, only when your prepared meter is zero but there's power in it. Once you recharge it's automatically activated,so it depends if you're willing to pay for and use it or not.

You hardly see Nigerians teaching coding or talking about programming related stuff on on social media, especially on Youtube. This is because this is actually a legit way to be a successful person and it involves a lot of hard work, determination and consistence.

Nigerians only like to propagate get rich schemes and fraudulent stuff like plagiarizing books to post on Amazon or some rubbish Ponzi scheme. The common thread that links all these is that they don't involve much work and all you have to do is just do the little, then sit and wait for money to start pouring into your account. I admit there are a tiny minority of people who make money from these, but it's usually for a short period of time until it crashes or they get banned from Amazon, or get arrested, but the majority of people don't get shit, rather they jump from one get rich scheme to the other until they realize they've wasted their time.

Programming will never be saturated with competent programmers especially in this country because majority of people don't have the discipline and delligence to actually become competent programmers.

For the past month I've not been on social media. I deleted my Twitter, Facebook Tiktok, Instagram and vowed to never check status on WhatsApp because that's a very huge distraction. I only use Nairaland and Reddit, particularly for programming related information. I deleted every movie from my laptop and haven't watched TV for weeks.

How many people can do this? How many people can sit at a desk staring at a computer screen for 12+ hours everyday?

Nigerians are very lazy and are addicted to quick gratification and this works in the favor of programmers who are serious, because it reduces the competitiveness of the job market.

I'm a medical student and a senior developer. I won't boost about my capabilities, I've work with bending spoon ( a popular coding company in Milan, Italy), I'm a Nigerian so please don't say Nigerians are lazy again!

Spending 12+ hrs a day without good income is a waste. Are you learning or you're working for a company? Myself I barely sleep 3-4hrs a day, so do your calculations you'll see in 24hrs what I invest the time on. Medical and coding!
Can you combine medical school with programming? It's like sucide, so don't ever mention Nigerians are lazy.
For me i do it because first, "passion" in medical field, and second, because of my "needs". Medical school won't give me the money I want in life, infact medical student are one of the most poorest people in the world because they invest all of their time studying unending medical courses while digital guys are cashing out on daily basis.

Programming and anything tech is like drug,oil and blood money. It doesn't have limit. Right now I'm doing project for masters degree student who came to me for assistance and willing to pay what I demand.
In fact, in the whole of Africa, Nigerians are the most hardworking people, reason they do very well once they step out of the country. America, Europe, Asia and other African countries employ more Nigerians than any other black country. You hardly see a professor from South Africa, Cameroon, Egypt or Kenya teaching in foreign countries. You also hardly see their doctors In foreign countries. But check well, any institutions or hospital abroad you see a black lecturer and a doctor, it's likely he/she is a Nigerian.

Despite restrictions etc, till-date USA,UK, South Africa, Europe.... are still employing Nigerians and no limit. The same is in business, Nigerians excel. Reason the xenophobic in SA because Nigerians once they see opportunities dig in and they invite their brothers to join them. This from experience differentiate us from other African countries who don't love their brothers outside the continent . But if a Nigerian see a follow Nigerian abroad, brother what's up ... they'll identify, before you know connection and both of them are into same job. If you quote me wrong, check in any company outside, you'll see not 1 Nigerian but many of them. So OP Mr programmer, Nigerians are not lazy it's the government who made people to look as if they're lazy. Nigeria is rising. Here in Canada they're many.

I'm in Canada and a medical student, I came here for studies and my parents couldn't afford my fees after a year, I immediately start up something and I'm paying my fees now, my accommodation and food. Thanks to my gf Sophie who has really been my helper. Girls are naturally good when they truly love you. She's from Ethiopia (most beautiful girls in Africa) and we both love eachother. She bought me clothes,food, send me thousands of dollars for emergency needs. The white girls are also good, but I know what they want so I won't be foolish to date them after sometime divorce and your property claimed (stày away from their fake love). Just for hook ups.
So I agree with op, it's expensive. If I had such money like the op,I won't think of going to UK,rather Canada, China, or even Zambia (in Africa). They're lots of opportunities there and I have many Nigerian lecturers, students and business guys in these countries doing very well. Check their currency too and apply wisdom before you travel.
