Bollinger:Glad to hear you're doing great so far. Things tend to change with time though. When certain life events like family, layoffs etc sets in, most people tend to wake up more to understand the system more. Knowing that daycare cost for a single child for a month will pay some people's rent for a year in Nigeria wakes a lot more people up. Now, adding all that cost to paying back student loans at the same time makes a lot of people feeling more broke than Nigeria. A failed marriage and getting stuck with child support and alimony practically would makemany useless, and the whole 10 step outline you had would appear to be a scam to them. Not saying it's like that for everyone, just saying I've seen things people have been through that's not necessarily their faults. |
Bollinger:What happens after getting your US citizenship? I know tonnes of people who already became US citizens and can't even use their US passports for anything. They are simply buried in their bills to think of traveling anywhere. All they can brag about is being a US citizen, which is crap when they are stuck with working for 35-40 years in someone else's country. They eventually return to Nigeria waiting for their social security checks and possibly be buried in their motherland when they eventually die. Many of them never own anything in Nigeria, yet their nephews and nieces own homes they built. In return, the returnees will brag again about the huge homes they have in the US, technically owned by the US banks for the 35 year mortgage they agreed to. #10 is just the beginning of the journey bro. All the homeless people we see in the US no be US citizens? It could have being from their choices though. Those that diligently went through the steps you highlighted to become US citizens and end up with good jobs still know modern-day slavery when they see it. They just don't complain because their home country aint any better. You may be new to the US or just don't get the full picture yet... I live in the US too, and I do have US citizenship as well, I just look at a bigger picture than what the system attempts to make me think. There is really no where like home, let's keep that on our minds before getting in too deep into what the foreign system wants us to be, which in my opinion is similar to what our enslaved ancestors were to them. |
khrisluv:Are we talking about countries or cities? |
saxywale:Like I said, I don't live in Canada, however I have visted more than 20 times from the US. The fact that a certain percentage is white doesnt mean they are not immigrants. There are Canadians whose roots are from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland and other countries. I'd expect them to be white and may be not racist because everyone knows Canada is not their land. |
Daverytimes:I could tell you've been through what folks living overseas are going through. I bet everyone already assumes you're super-rich forgetting you pay bills they have never heard of. |
emmanuelcrawler:I think u meant there is no place like home. There are several places like Nigeria, same messed up economy etc. But nothing compares to being where ure from, with similar comfort you've seen elsewhere. That's home. |
knxpin:You are right. Nigerians in the diaspora can actually make a huge difference when the opportunity presents itself. But who wants to return to terrible roads, unpredictable electricity, strife, kidnappings etc? I agree the foreigners from other nations are only in Nigeria for their own benefits, cheap labor if you will. They are business people, I'd expect them to be where it pays them more. I have worked with many of them and i know they are more united than us Nigerians. They look out for one another very well and by that, they can penetrate almost every country on earth from their collective efforts. In our case however, we are lacking that; it's betrayals everywhere. Ibo/Yoruba/Hausa can't even be in the same room for 2 hours without cursing eachother or fighting. So, I don't blame the foreigners for taking advantage of opportunities that were available for Nigerians before they came and discovered them. The foreigners saw the values in things Nigerians disregarded. Most likely because Nigerians have never been united. Every tribe is watching the other tribe figuring out their next plan of action. Even within tribes, communities still hate other communities, myopic about several things. Meanwhile, business minded folks within the country or from other nations take that as opportunities to enrich themselves. So, do we blame them or blame ourselves? |
US, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Nigeria. I live in the US, but I think I prefer Canada for the low crime rate compared to the US. Not sure if racism is much there as well, since almost everyone there is an immigrant. For the European countries I have been to though, I think the language barrier may be an issue for me, I don't speak German nor Dutch. |
rudebouy:I was thinking the same about Transcript Hilton. Like the article said, it has not been announced publicly, so the whole thing may just be a hoax. |
papawemba:Where is that? Why is the name so long? |
kokoA:Did anyone of them volunteer yet? Lol |
What's kibosh? I can't find it in my dictionary. |
This is getting more serious. I hope they don't come after me too. Let me hide. |
Reasons why some women will never get a man. |
I like to read posts from mature people like this. Thanks OP, tell them more. |
mekzyjoe:Of all these pictures, na only Tiwa yansh u see. Wetin your eyes dey find? |
naturalwaves:I hope that will work. My understanding is that some Ogas at the top expect some daily quotas from what junior officers make from the public. So, I'm bent to believe even graduate police officers will be required to still part with daily deliveries to their bosses... May be reshuffling the police force to different regions away from their comfort zone under no-nonsense bosses would help. |
Olisa Metuh is trying to be relevant for the next four years. Rants like this will come from PDP through him until this administration is over. Even if Buhari succeeds in implementing the change everybody craves and Nigerians are happy, PDP and Olisa Metuh will still see faults in everything. It will take them years to actually face reality. Stupid set of people; thinking Nigerians are dumb and can be maneuvered by their spread of lies. |
Anini and Shina Rambo. |
Now, which of all these people is Tuface? All I see is a crowd. It he the one with the hat? |
Aareonakakanfo:Relocate Busola to an IDP camp. Her yanga will melt. |
Do people really fall for lies like this? She could have taken a bike from her face-me-i-face-you room to take a pix at better house around. Did she say it's her dad's house anywhere? If she did, she should have defended herself with pictures of the interior and who exactly her dad is. |
As fake as she is, she must be one of them on nairaland. |
Lagos is not even there. Why are people then making negative remarks on Fashola? |
Who are your sources? Stop making allegations without mentioning verifiable sources. |
Chai, dem go come attach one Abobaku to this young, successful and educated man. Tradition sha. |
I hope this is not somebody's wedding cake making headlines. Whoever owns that cake must be greedy and not want to share it with most of the guests. |
fornairaland:Were you trying to figure out their trybes from their names? You guess where they're from. |
thorpido:I would have protested if he was buried in Nigeria. Since he never did anything known for Nigerians, smart moves the Oyinbos kept his remains. |
What does he mean he will snap his genitals and put the pix in a book? Gross. Who wants to see that crap? Glad I'm not his dad, I would have disowned him when his madness started. |
She started it with her initial racist comment even as unattractive as she is. So, she got what she deserves. |
yorubatic:Are you serious? |
