FCT Authorities shut down schools in Abuja

The Federal Capital Administration, FCTA has ordered the closure of schools in the FCT effective Friday 20th, 2020.


The move may not be unconnected with the recent confirmation of 12 cases of coronavirus in Nigeria and ongoing rumours of the virus in the FCT.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the FCT Minister of State, Mr Austine Elemue on Thursday


Mr Austine said the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, ordered the shut down of schools as a preventive measure to avoid the spread of the virus which has affected 27 African countries and killed over 6,500 people.

Mr Elemue said students were not expected to be in school from Monday the 23rd.

He advised schools that can get the information across to their students to order students to stay home after today.


The Special Assistant to the minister, however, assured parents that lost school time will be catered for subsequently.

Meanwhile the FCT Minister of State, also directed that social gatherings and worship centres be restricted to avoid large gatherings that could further endanger the health of others, stressing that shop owners who fail to provide hand sanitizers and other preventive measures will be closed down indefinitely.

DAILY POST recalls that due to the continuous spread of the virus, the Lagos State Government has also ordered the closure of all public and private schools in the State.

This virus � has infected 2 Doctors in Seattle and New Jersey . They are both on Ventilators. Both used all the Recommended precautions . 1 is a 47 year Old Emergency Room Physician and the other is a 77 yr Old Senior Attending Physician who was ironically in charge of preparing the Hospital Covid-19 response.
I will share a video I took yesterday when I returned to work in the USA ��. My arrival at Atlanta Airport was a shockertp me. The crowd at the Immigration was like 1/40 th of what it usually is. Nigerians were about 40 % of the people passing through immigration.Only 3 Airplanes arrived early in the Morning.Usually there are a whole lot more.We need to be very very very careful. Among the Arrivals with me was a Briton and a few Europeans who came through Lagos paid the e- Visa fee and Purchased a second ticket � to the USA Via Delta Airlines. I was alerted by this because with my Delta Airlines HVP status,I can see the sold seats and available seats when I book or rebook my flight which I did.Then there were a fair Number of available seats in all 3 sections.To my surprise there was a queue at the Delta Check in Counter, as I was checking in I asked the Delta Staff what was going on with so many new passengers.The Delta staff said “ A lot of passengers from Europe are flying to Nigeria to catch Delta flights to the USA. That is a serious lapse in our Security. That means that people from high COVID-19 areas are transiting through Lagos using the e- Visa loophole designed to ease buisness travel and raise foreign currency.
That is a ticking time bomb.
I hope someone on this forum can bring it to the appropriate authorities and put a stop to this untill we know where this virus is heading. I want to share a video I took so that people will know what we are dealing with. We in SWNigeria have to prepare as if the Virus COVID-19 � is already here and Nigeria ��has already lost an eminent Pathologist in Italy ��.
Parties are banned in many States in the USA, Schools are shut down, today Restaurants can only serve “ Take away Customers “, no sit down and order food. So we have to start shouting as SW Nigerians because if COVID-19 will do havoc in Nigeria, the SW of Nigeria is where it is most likely to start.

South Americans and their mentalities. A star with such achievements should know that the low lives in his locality will always hunt him. Why are they always living in their countries? That's house Carlos Teves headed home and abandoned his club side for some flimsy reasons. Stars that have made it always live in the USA or better still remain in Europe where people understand their worths.

So, in church during the prayer session, and after the prayer topic has been introduced, I find I can't pray for more than 30 seconds, 1 minute tops.

After that, I have nothing else to say. Yet I see others praying until whoever is leading the session intervenes and introduces another prayer topic.

What exactly are they saying for that long or are they just repeating themselves. I can't speak in tongues too, so that doesn't help my cause.

I also cannot pray loudly, I always whisper under my breath even when the pastor says to shout at the top of our voices, because that's just how I am.

Do these things I mentioned n hinder prayers from being answered?
