THE Director, Media and Publicity,
APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga tackled the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded Presidential election of February 25, 2023, Peter Obi for his alleged inciting statements, spreading of lies to deceive gullible Nigerians.

In a Press Release available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, Onanuga said Obi was going round media houses in prejudice to the case in the Election Petition Tribunal to inflame passions, misleading statements and spreading of lies to promote sentiment against the mandate given to the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TINUBU who defeated him to the third position.

Onanuga called on the security agents to caution Obi on his excess from 'further making incendiary remarks, especially after he claimed he is challenging the results of the election in the tribunal"

The release advised the NBC to caution the TV houses from allowing Obi from using their platforms to 'de-legitimize free and fair election" when he has challenged the case in court.


"The defeated Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi goes around inflaming passions, spreading lies as if he is still campaigning for the highest office in the land, weeks after the exercise was concluded and a winner announced.

We are worried about his recent media rounds on Arise TV and Channels TV, in which he made profoundly misleading, criminally false and inciting statements about the election that he lost woefully.

We call on the security agencies to caution him from further making incendiary remarks, especially after he claimed he is challenging the results of the election in the tribunal.

Asked on Arise TV about his loss, he derided the election, considered by many to be the best in our recent history. He described it recklessly as ‘probably the worst’, ‘wrong election’, ‘not God’s will’. In one moment, he likened the election to 'robbery'.

He also fleetingly wore the toga of a political scientist redefining democracy, which the world knows as government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

According to Obi, “to win in democracy is to win the people. The declared winner, Bola Tinubu did not win- that is what we are challenging…’ Later, he clarified in his moments of sobriety, after leaving the studio, that what he wanted to challenge was the process of declaring the winner.

On Channels TV few days later, Obi made the ridiculous claim about ‘his stolen mandate’, echoing the position of his unthinking mob of supporters, who believe that he won the election, because some sponsored polls made the claim before the election.


We consider the claim by the former governor of Anambra as very fraudulent as he fell short of winning any mandate. He came third, not even second, losing by 2.6 million votes to President-elect Bola Tinubu, despite getting outrageously padded votes from his ethnic South East states.

From the false narrative Obi has been pushing, he is the one trying to steal Bola Tinubu’s mandate, by appealing unashamedly to tribal and religious sentiments and by resorting to his sickening penchant for lying boldfacedly to snatch what does not belong to him.

We consider Obi’s TV statements as prejudicial to the case he has filed and contemptuous of the court. Only a desperate politician like Obi will embark on his course of action: seeking justice in court and simultaneously embarking on a mission of blackmailing and intimidating the judiciary.

He is trying to present himself before his case takes off in court as a helpless, cheated victim of the ‘system’, robbed of a mandate by INEC. He is trying to position himself as the candidate ‘who won the people’, who is loved by the people, going by his self-serving definition of democracy.

His antics, if he is able to sway the judges is to make them cancel the entire election, even without sufficient, substantial proof of malpractice. This will pave way for his dream alliance with the PDP, the second losing party, in a fresh election.

The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar spoke about his readiness to enter into such alliance in his post-poll press conference, as he accused Obi of taking his votes in the South South and South East.

We hope the men and women of the judiciary will not fall for Obi’s cheap tactics and really examine the cases before them on merit and on the basis of substantial evidence presented.

Let us remind Obi once again, he is welcome in the court, where he is bound to lose woefully.

Finally we advise Mr. Obi to stop attacking the integrity of the election just because he did not win the majority votes and the constitutional spread in 24 states.

He should stop deceiving his gullible followers and raising unrealistic hopes about reclaiming the presidency from Asiwaju Tinubu.

We also advise the NBC to caution TV houses giving Obi the platform to de-legitimise a free and fair election, when he has taken his case to court."

In case you don't know when Jankara Market was demolished in the early 80's.That man gave the Igbo's a parcel of Virgin land on owners occupier and what Jakande said,

During the Civil War, Every tribe close to Igbos in Port-Harcourt change and seized every property from Igbos.
Yorubas kept Igbo properties intact, rent out their properties, kept the money in the bank and returned it to the Igbos after the Civil War.

It is high time we cool down nobody hates you,nobody wants to stop you.
Politics is about campaign. Ahmed Tinubu have the right to vie for presidency so do other candidates too.

None of these people is representing a tribe.   
If you feel that Peter Obi program and plans are better, market him very well.

But all this thing the Yoruba's are against Igbos and wants to stop us from being the president, is a fallacy.

Market your own candidate in peace, stop all this thing because there will be life after 2023 and most of the time we might be endangering the life of our brethren, so it is time for somebody stop the hatred.

AFTER the failed Cashless Policy anchored by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, many Nigerians believed it was politically motivated.

Angry Nigerians have started hauling attacks on the apex bank Governor.

Among those who carpeted Emefiele was the Director of Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga who described Emefiele as "sadistic, wicked boss of the bank who inflicted unprecedented hardship on our people, causing anger, pains, deaths."

"Godwin Emefiele of CBN ends as the fall-guy of the ill-conceived, illegal currency swap in our nation's history. He will be remembered as a sadistic, wicked boss of the bank who inflicted unprecedented hardship on our people, causing anger, pains, deaths."

In another tweet, Onanuga described Emefiele as "a ridiculous man."

"CBN governor Emefiele is a ridiculous man. While he rushes to deny a so-called fake news about himself, he keeps eerie silence on the suffering of 200m Nigerians and Soludo's revelation that the apex bank has ordered banks to pay and receive old N500, N1K, ordered by S/Court."

Angry Nigerians took to their Official Twitter Page to express their anger and frustrations on Emefiele whom they described as being wicked and incompetent with the poorly planned Cash Policy.

The angry youths of Epe Community chased away the campaign train of the Labour Party (LP) Governorship Candidate, Rhodes-Vivour on Monday.

They were angered by the slogan of"Lagos is no man's land" by the supporters of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi otherwise known as OBIDIENTS.

They were heard saying, 'We have to chase them out before they declare Eredo as no man's land".  The incident happened at Eredo, Mojoda, Epe, Lagos State.

LAGOS, MY LAGOS!
I make no apology for saying the following.
Lagos is NOT no-man's land. It belongs to the Yoruba. Other than winning the Presidency, the most important thing for the Yoruba to do today is to ensure that Babajide Sanwo-Olu is re-elected as Governor of Lagos state.

Outside of that we are finished as a race and as a people.
The Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, whose mother and wife are Igbo and who is running a patently anti-Yoruba and pro-Igbo campaign, is one of those that burnt properties and buses during the Endsars riots.

He is also in bed with IPOB and is hell bent on imposing an unashamedly Igbo agenda on the people of Lagos state including removing all our Yoruba traditional rulers and imposing Igbo ones.

Would the Igbo allow any Yoruba man to do such a thing in the east?
Our liberalism and willingness to accommodate others has become our biggest albatross.

We gave them land, food and shelter and now they want to take everything from us and rule over us.
They have even infiltrated our Churches and introduced a brand of religious intolerance which is alien to us.

They want to deny us that which our forefathers built, fought and died for and they want to decimate our identity and redefine who we are!

Please take this very seriously and take note that it is beyond politics.
Lagos is for Lagosians and Lagosians are YORUBA!
We welcome visitors and strangers with love, kindness and open arms because that is our nature but we will never let them rule over us in our fathers land, take our land and territory and deprive us of our patrimony, heritage and ancestry.

Anything short of this would be an abomination and would attract the wrath and curse of God.
We know who we are and we know what is ours. Nothing and nobody will take that from us.

It is time to reclaim Lagos and the first step to doing that is to vote for Jide in the Governorship election on Saturday.
I call on all sons and daughters of the West and all true friends of Lagos and the West to come out and vote for Jide and the APC on that day.

Permit me to add the following.
I have spoken up for the Ibo probably more than any other non-Ibo in my generation over the years and in the recent past and I did so when most people remained silent and watched them suffer the most extreme form of persecution, wickedness and barbarity.
I am also one of those that believes strongly in the 'handshake across the Niger' and I enunciated my position boldly and clearly at the famous Enugu conference in 2018 when others were scared to speak.

Finally my belief in the concepts of restructuring, self-determination, equity and justice remain unshakable.
I also remain a strong advocate of the unity and indissolable fabric of our rainbow coalition and beautiful union and our quest to establish an exemplary and enviable multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious nation where every individual, regardless of tribe or faith, finds a place under the sun.

That is the sacred vision of our forefathers and it is for that vision and preservation of the unity of that unique and marvellous rainbow coalition and great nation of bright and beautiful ethnic nationalities that millions of people died during our civil war.
A heavy price was paid for our unity and the butchers bill for the preservation of our union was very high.

That is all the more reason why we should preserve it at all costs so as not to belittle and mock the sacrifices made by so many and the oceans of blood that was shed to keep us one.
Nigeria is a great, powerful and beautiful nation with so much potential and we shall do all we can to make her even greater and better by striving to live in pace and unity with one another.

However this does not mean that we can take each other for granted or treat one another with contempt.
This does not mean that we must indulge in grabbing the land and coveting the homes of others in the name unity.

This does not mean that we are a nation of anything goes where only the loudest, strongest and most aggressive have their way or where anarchy, ignorance, fascism, ethnic nationalism, racial hegemony, primitive irredentism and barefaced domination reigns supreme.

This does not mean that we will tolerate and allow others to re-echo the expansionist dreams and divisive and weighty words of the late jurist, mamber of the Legislative Council and Ibo nationalist Charles Daddy Onyeama (the distinguished and respected father of our Foreign Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama) in 1945 when he told the Ibo State Union at the Island Club in Lagos that "the Ibo domination of Nigeria is only a matter of time" .

The angst and fears of the Yorubas, Hausa Fulani, Ijaw and other non-Ibos that heard those words at that time were further fuelled and re-kindled four years later in 1949 when, again in Lagos, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe himself, the Ibo leader of the NCNC, a great nationalist and the man who was almost elected Premier of the old Western Region and was later elected Premier of the old Eastern Region said,
“it would appear that the God of Africa has specially created the Ibo nation to lead the children of Africa from the bondage of the ages”.

I guess little has changed over the last 78 years when it comes to the desire of some to want to dominate others, lead them by force and take over their land and all that is theirs.

How sad that is.
Finally this does not mean that I will sit by silently or idly and accept the absurd notion, emotional blackmail and intellectual tomfoolery of those that say that Lagos, my Lagos, the city that I come from, that I was born in, that I grew up in, that I lived in for most of my life, that my parents and grandparents were buried in and that God-willing, when my time comes, I shall also be buried in, is a 'no man's land'.

Lagos may be an increasingly racial and cultural melting pot but she is NOT a no man's land.

The history is clear. Lagos is Yoruba territory and she constitutes a vital and integral part of the South Western states of Nigeria and the Yoruba nation.

Whether anyone likes to hear it or not this is an incontrovertible fact.
As Yorubas she is our pride and joy, our shining city on a hill, our New Jerusalem and a stellar example and reflection of our liberal, cosmopolitan, civil, accommodating and generous disposition to strangers and outsiders who, over the last few decades, have made her their home.

Yet no matter how kind and accommodating we Yorubas are as a people and no matter how many non-Yorubas we integrate with, we shall NEVER concede one inch of our territory to them or allow them to claim our land, culture, values, patrimony and heritage as their own.

The day I, as a Yoruba man, can claim that Enugu belongs to me or that I can safely open a stall in Enugu market or that I can become Governor of Enugu state is the day that I shall review my position. Until then I will not do so.

Permit me to conclude with the following.
I am a proud father of 9 children, 6 of whom have mothers that are not Yoruba and 3 of whom have a mother that is only half Yoruba.
This proves that I am an intergrationist and I believe in building bridges and creating a society which allows for and encourages the mixing of ethnic bloodlines, racial tolerance and peaceful co-existence.

l am a liberal and I do not believe that it is right or proper for one race or ethnic nationality to look down on or discriminate against another. In my view we are all one, regardless of which ethnic nationality you come from or which faith you espouse.

However this does not mean that I am prepared to sacrifice my racial and cultural identity on the alter of historical revisionism. The history is clear and the facts speak for themselves.

For a non-Yoruba and particularly an Ibo to claim that Lagos belongs to them or that she is a 'no man's land' is not only absurd but also deeply insulting.
Each time they say it they are slapping us in the face and spitting on the graves of our reverred forefathers.

IT was tales of woes as market men and women are lamenting over the scarcity of Naira. 

People are willing to buy foodstuffs but can not access their cash deposited in various banks across the country.

Idi-Oro, Mushin is one of such market where food perished because there was no cash to buy the food.  It is either the seller has no bank account or he refused transfer of cash because of the epileptic networks. It was frustration galore everywhere you turn to. 

The only reason Nigerians are helpless, suffering and groaning is because they are citizens of Nigeria at the mercy of Emefiele and Mr President.


Nigerians are at crossroads over conflicting statements from the apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria despite the unanimous Supreme Court decision that ordered CBN to allow old Naira notes as legal tender till December 31, 2023, neither President Muhammadu Buhari nor the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele obeyed the Court order or issued any statement yet people are dying of hunger daily.  Only the president can put an end to the agonies Nigerians are facing daily.

THE President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TINUBU paid a courtesy visit to former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

This was after he was declared winner of the Presidential election held February 25, 2023 by the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

It would be recalled that TINUBU and Babangida were in the opposite direction in 1993 after the military dictator annulled the June 12, 1993 Presidential election won by MKO Abiola.


TINUBU was among the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) Chieftains who wrestled power from the military dictatorship to Democratic Government from October 1, 1999. 



Two strange bed-fellows in 1993 came together in 2023.

A Popular Radio Presenter with Fresh FM (105.9fm) popularly known as BINTIN LAYE slumped and died on his way to present OJO OJA PROGRAM.

According to one of his colleagues, Bintin-laye would not have died but for the unpopular Cashless Policy that has denied millions of Nigerians access to their cash in the bank.

Olarinde Immanuel wrote on his Facebook Page,
"Which country are we where you are suffering money you have in your bank account, see what happened this morning in Ibadan, Baba Bintin was leaving his house to work at Fresh FM Ibadan and His brother Komolafe Olaiya talking about him after some minutes the news we heard was the man collapse and died due to what Government put us.


God will judge the heartless government in Jesus might name Rip Baba Bintin laye."


Another friend, Jubreel Bayonle wrote,
"Posterity will judge our leaders for the untold hardships and untimely deaths we're facing at this time in our Nation.
The news just broke live of one of the presenters of Fresh FM Ibadan, Baba Bintilaye, who slumped and died on his way while trekking to work. All in the name of this cashless policy.
My heart goes to the entire Fresh FM Nigeria family. Accept my condolences.
Baba Komolafe Olaiya, God knows I'm typing this with tears in my eyes. Ẹ pẹlẹ ẹ ku ara fẹra ku."

LEO Alachuna was until his untimely death was celebrating the victory of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TINUBU in this video, it was said to be his last.

In a video published on the Twitter Page of Ayekooto and @OkaforAma, Leo was seen dancing and singing, "Obi try again.' But unfortunately, that was his last.  He was allegedly gunned down for celebrating Tinubu's victory.

THE Spokesperson of Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo is spitting fire and brimstone over alleged plan to rig election against his Principal, Peter Obi in the presidential election held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Yorubas kept Igbo properties intact, rent out their properties, kept the money in the bank and returned it to the Igbos after the Civil War.

It is high time we cool down nobody hates you,nobody wants to stop you.
Politics is about campaign. Ahmed Tinubu have the right to vie for presidency so do other candidates too.

None of these people is representing a tribe.   
If you feel that Peter Obi program and plans are better, market him very well.

AS Nigerians go to polls on Saturday, February 25, 2023 to elect the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Federal Lawmakers, events have begun to unfold overtly or covertly over the elections.

An audio surfaced online linking the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his Vice,Ifeanyi Okowa and the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal allegedly planning how to rig Saturday's Presidential elections.

SOJ WORLDWIDE brought all sides of the news for the benefit of our readers who demanded to know what actually happened.

TRANSCRIPT OF VOICE RECORDING OF HOW ATIKU, OKOWA AND TAMBUWAL ALLEGEDLY PLANNED TO RIG PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 
ATIKU: There will be need to bring in the INEC
OKOWA: There will be need to interface with INEC and not create suspicion
TAMBUWAL: For me to accept to go into this, let us strategize and discuss the arrangement and how it can be achieved.
ATIKU: Tambuwal, that's why we are meeting. Let us sit down and find any other technology that may be used to make sure we emerge. We have to look for a way to find loopholes.
OKOWA: We are going to provide for the INEC officials starting from the polling units through to the ward collation centers and I just hope that we are going to find a way to rig the elections. This is the best time.
ATIKU: It is not enough. First of all, you give money to the state INEC. There will be need to bring in the INEC and also make sure they don't use BVAS. We have seen what the use caused in Osun. Atiku Abubakar, I am with you on this one.
OKOWA: And you also supervise to make sure we use the central bank. We must find a way to get them out of power.
TAMBUWAL: It will be extremely difficult in a way. You see, it depends on certain fundamental indices. If Nigerians are having only two options clearly from two regions, then one of them will be.
The numbers will count in this case and we all know the voting strength of each bloc in this country.
OKOWA: It is obviously a major issue. We should look at the things that will bring us result. We must also look at the process that makes one of our best to be president.
TAMBUWAL: I don't like mistakes. I have won my elections 5 times consecutively. You all know that I have the support of my home base but it is not about me. It is about Atiku Abubakar and making him president.
OKOWA: We cannot act in disregard of normal rule. We must give INEC money to run their normal processes on their own. They must mobilize their people for the purpose of the election. That is going to make a stronger impact. Not the way we are going through.
ATIKU: What are those areas that will be difficult to win in the elections
OKOWA: The INEC officials need to take instructions from the PDP agents and there is no doubt about the process. They will be good enough that is not questionable.
TAMBUWAL: Are you sure that this time we can win the elections?
OKOWA: YES! It must be done in such a way that it is skewed towards the PDP.
TAMBUWAL: Even with BVAS?
OKOWA: Yes, it is just a question of trying

ATIKU REACTS TO ALLEGED AUDIO:
In a statement on Friday,
Phrank Shiabu who is the Special Assistant on Public Communications writes,

“In this latest drivel, a montage of speeches delivered by Atiku, Tambuwal, and Okowa since last year were manipulated and pieced together to give an impression that they were discussing plans to rig Saturday’s election. In this age of artificial intelligence technology, even dead people can be portrayed as delivering speeches. This is nothing new.


“For the record, Atiku has run in two presidential elections and has never been indicted or prosecuted for election violence or vote buying.


“But some people think they can sell a narrative of Atiku manipulating this election. This is indeed the height of desperation, the last kick of a dying horse. The APC and the Labour Party must note that elections are not won on social media but at the polling units.”


“It is unfortunate that those seeking power will engage in outdated defeatist tactics. How can Tambuwal be referring to Atiku by his full name in a one-on-one private conversation? This is nonsensical, similar to the type of meaningless chatter about President Muhammadu Buhari being dead and replaced by one Jubril from Sudan.”


“When they descend to the level of baseless propaganda, we will rise above it with dignity and respond with our PVCs. This election is a watershed in Nigerian history. Nigerians must not lose sight of what is most important, which is the need to rebuild this broken system, revitalise the economy, and improve security and the hope of the people in a united Nigeria.”

Mr Shaibu called on the police and other security agencies as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain fair and neutral in the polls.

He also asked the authorities to go after those behind the audio tape citing Section 123(c) of the Electoral Act which provides that “any person who before or during an election publishes any statement to the personal character or conduct of a candidate calculated to prejudice the chance of election of the candidate or to promote or procure the election of another candidate and such statement is false and was published without reasonable grounds for belief by the person publishing it that the statement is true, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a maximum of N100,000 or imprisonment for a term of six months or both.”

LABOUR Party Senatorial Candidate, Oyibo Chukwu, five supporters were reportedly killed and roasted in a renewed violence against elections in the Southeast

Chukwu who represents Enugu East Senatorial District election, was killed 48 hours to the election on Saturday.

Chukwu was killed at Amechi, Awkunanaw Local Government Area of Enugu while returning from a campaign rally.

He was murdered alongside five of his supporters, Daily Trust reported.

The killers were also said to have burnt him and his supporters who were with him inside his car.

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chijioke Edeoga, confirmed the unfortunate incident, saying his party members are being targeted for assassination by political parties which felt threatened by the rise of the Labour Party in the state.

Peter Obi, Labour Party Presidential Candidate, hails from South East, which has been a flashpoint, even before the election period.

Suspected militants have vowed to cripple election in the region but security forces have assured residents that they are on top of the situation.


The Enugu Police command is yet to react to the incident, which Edeoga insists is politically motivated.

In the social arena, the rich also cry. An unidentified musician was seen raining heaps of curses on Emefiele for not releasing cash for his guests to spray him at a party.

ANOTHER casualty was recorded when the Deputy Bursar of the Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Johnson Adesola Ademola AKA 'Prof of Lagos State" slumped and died at noon on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the LASU branch of WEMA Bank .

Eyewitness account told newspot that Mr Ademola died while on a queue to collect N 5000 of new naira notes.

He was said to have been on the queue as early as 6 am. without taking his breakfast. ” We did not notice him complaining but we saw was him going down. Sympathizers rushed to apply first aid treatment but gave up the ghost. What an irony of fate for a bursar dying while waiting for N5000″

His body has been moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
A statement from the EXCO of the institution reads:

Barely one month after a shocking revelation indicting a police officer attached to Anambra State Police Command, CSP Patrick Agbazue, and others as those masterminding and perpetrating killings, kidnapping and various kinds of crimes in different parts of Anambra State, the chief suspect, CSP Agbazue has been arrested.


A Twitter user, Eons Intelligence, announced the arrest on Twitter post on Friday, in which he also revealed that the suspect who is a former Officer-in-Charge of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (O/C SARS) was arrested “alongside his squad for allegedly masterminding the killings, kidnappings within Anambra state.”

Another Twitter user, Epiphany The First (@Kirtyprincezam2) had earlier posted the photographs of former governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano; business mogul, Engr. Prince Arthur Eze; CSP Patrick Agbazue; SP Princess Nwode; and SPO Harrison, as the faces of people who know about the deaths and kidnapping happening around Anambra State. The Twitter user also tagged the Nigeria Police Public Relations (@NigeriapolicePR) in the post, while also calling for interrogation of the suspects.

The tweet read, “Dear @NigeriapolicePR, there is an information reaching Nigerians that these faces here know about the deaths and kidnapping happening around Anambra state.

“INTERROGATE CSP Patrick Agbazue, Arthur Eze, SP Princess Nwode, SPO Harrison and former Gov. Willie Obiano.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police has set up a a special investigation panel under the IGP Monitoring and Mentoring Unit, to commence investigations into the allegations.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known on Friday in a statement tagged “Anambra Alleged Killings: IGP Sets Up Panel, Orders Discreet Investigation into Allegations”.

The statement reads, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has set up a special investigation panel under the IGP Monitoring and Mentoring Unit to commence investigations into some weighty allegations of unprofessionalism, high-handedness, and extra-judicial killings leveled against its officers serving at the Zone 13 Command, Ukpo-Dunukofia, and the Anambra State Command on social media platforms.

“In light of the serious allegations leveled against the officers – CSP Patrick Agbazue, officer-in-charge of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Anambra State Command; SP Nwode Nkeiruka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo-Dunukofia, and Inspector Harrison Akama attached to the RRS, they reported at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja today Friday 17th February, 2023, on the directives of the IGP for commencement of investigations to ascertain the veracity of the allegations for further necessary action, while the panel has been given a period of two weeks to come up with a report of investigations.

“The Force enjoins any member of the public who has had experiences or information on acts of high-handedness, extortion, or extra-judicial killings by the officers in question, to forward same with detailed information via mobile number 08036242591, or by email via pressforabuja@police.gov.ng, igpmufhq@npf-c4i.com to enable the panel achieve a wholistic investigation.

“The Inspector-General of Police has assured that the findings of the investigations will determine the next line of action, even as he promises that the Force will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is done in the case and sanctions meted to any officers found guilty accordingly.”

It would be recalled that a social media user, Ugobuzo, sometime in late January, named accused CSP Patrick Agbazue of being responsible for the various kidnapping operations carried out in different parts of Anambra State and beyond

Ugobuzo made the revelation in a trending social media content, in which he also named one O/C Legal Obi as Agbazue’s accomplices, with whom he perpetrates some of his operations.

According to him, CSP Agbazue also traded human body parts, some of which he was selling to some top politicians in the state, who were patronizing or contracting him most times when they needed human parts.


He revealed that CSP Agbazue, whom he described as Emeka Offor’s boy, usually works hand-in-hand with O.C. Obi, to kidnap and kill people for politicians.

Going further in the revelation, Ugobuzo challenged the people of Nteje community in Oyi Local Government Area, to hold one Barr. Ngesine, an indigene of the community, responsible and fearlessly ask him some questions about all the abduction and murder of some innocent indigenes of the community some time, by O/C SARS and his accomplices, in the name of security.

“Barr. Ngesine first gave Patrick Agbazue (O/C SARS) the sum of five million naira for that job. He also raised about additional fifteen million naira for him after two or three months, as a completion. And they also gave him land around the Anambra Airport, which he told them to sell. Ask him questions about this, let me see if he will lies. And if he says it is a lie, let him come and swear by the oracle,” Ugobuzo said in the Facebook post.

While noting that CSP Agbazue is the person who gives directives on whom to kidnap, he also linked him to the kidnap of an indigene of Mbosi in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state who lived overseas, and was kidnapped and shot on the leg while he was returning to his hometown; after which a huge sum of money was transferred from his account.

He said Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng were aware of that and can also attest to it. He also alleged that the gang usually pays commission to Police Commissioner and his boys. He also dares anyone who denies the revelation to trace him to his hometown in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, to swear before the oracle.


Ugobuzo also revealed how CSP Agbazue ploted to murder a top Anambra politician, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, who is the member represen representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency. He said the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife were also in the picture of those to be murdered by Agbazue and his gang. He also pledged to make more information available on his social media handle, Ugobuzo, upon request.

However, few days after this shocking revelation, reports trended that Ugobuzo was arrested by the Anambra State Police Command, and that he had confessed to have been paid the sum of N10,000 to “frame up the lies against CSP Agbazue” —a confession many believed he may have been tortured or coerced into making.

Be it as it may, with the recent arrest of CSP Agbazue and the setting of panel to investigate all the allegations, fingers are now crossed to know which is true, as more details are expected to unravel.

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has just stumbled on a rogue website, www. Igbotimesmagazine.online, out to disseminate false and malicious information about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

In its latest false news, the site claimed that some EFCC operatives, on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari raided the "underground home” of Tinubu. It claimed that N400 billion of the new notes was recovered from there. The story, which notably lacked the essential “when, where and how" ingredients of any news story, went viral.

The EFCC has since issued a formal statement on the purported raid by its men as a fake story the public should disregard.

The dubious website, in its fake story, claimed investigations are still ongoing as to which bank manager made such money available to Tinubu, it then admitted its own absurdity when it wrote that “the money recovered in Tinubu’s “underground house” is equivalent of “the entire money printed for the whole Nigeria” by the CBN.

So, if Tinubu alone has all the money printed by Godwin Emefiele’s CBN, how do you account for the billions distributed by the apex bank to all the banks, including operators of POST.

The site, which on Twitter and Facebook appears to have links with the Labour Party, went further, in another post, to claim that President Muhammadu has ordered the arrest of the bank manager that made the phantom money available to the APC candidate.

In a previous post two weeks ago, the site had claimed that ‘an angry mob blocked N3 billion of new notes heading to Tinubu’s house’.

Other fake news on the site included one that claimed the Federal Government planned to borrow money from kidnappers in Kaduna because they have more money than our country. It credited the misleading news to Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture.

We want to warn Nigerians to be wary of every piece of news emanating from the site, and its social media handles.

There will be many of such sites as some candidates become desperate to win at all costs, in fulfilment of some rogue and rigged opinion polls by ANAP Foundation and Nextier, shunning all decent norms and rules.

The igbotimesmagazine.online, with its affiliated social media handles exists for no good of our country.

It is out to misinform and mislead our people and disseminate malicious information on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the run up to the 25 February election, which the opposition candidates, including Peter Obi of Labour Party, are bound to lose.

We are not surprised that the opposition has embarked on sponsoring a website and social media handles, whose owners are unknown and which lacks physical address or even an email.

We urge the authorities to fish out the people behind the site, that is recklessly dishing out fake news, before more damage is done to our polity.

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has released another message appealing to Nigerians to remain patient as his administration takes appropriate action to mitigate the hardships occasioned by the controversial naira swap policy.

The policy described by some as hasty was designed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to limit cash hoarding and vote-buying ahead of the general elections but has since given rise to naira scarcity and violent protests across the country.

According to a statement by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari made the plea on Sunday in a video recording to shore up support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

The President thanked Nigerians for electing him to be President for two terms, and urged them to vote for the APC standard bearer, describing his desired successor as “reliable” and sure to “build on our achievements.”

“I want to once again assure you that I am fully aware of the current hardship you are facing as a result of some policies of the government which are meant to bring overall improvement to the country.

“I am appealing to you to exercise further patience as we take appropriate measures to ease these hardships. God willing, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

President Muhammadu Buhari, Sunday sent a message home from Addis Ababa, saying he is fully aware of hardship some policies of government, “which are meant to bring overall improvement to the country” had caused and appealed for further patience as the government takes appropriate measures to ease them.

Let us stand up strongly for democracy, peace and national unity

My dear people of Kaduna State,
1. With just about 100 days before leaving office, and elections just round the corner, it was my intention to host another media chat to interact with the people of our state in the next few days. While I still hope to do so, I feel the need to address you all today due to the unprecedentedly cruel situation our people and their livelihoods have been thrown into, particularly in the last two to three weeks by the decisions, actions and inactions of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

2. On behalf of the government of Kaduna State, I wish to express my deepest regret at the needless suffering you are enduring as a result of the prolonged fuel shortage and the difficulties occasioned by the so-called “currency redesign” policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. We understand your pain. I assure you that as your State Governor, I have been working with my other colleagues to do everything in our power to end these pains.

3. While publicly supporting what appeared to be a beneficial policy, we innocently engaged privately with the President and the leadership of the Central Bank of Nigeria to review the implementation of the policy so as to reduce its negative impact on the lives and livelihoods of our people, and end the pain being inflicted on citizens. In the absence of any progress to modify implementation on the part of the architects, we were forced to go public about two weeks ago, with our concerns and demand that this suffering must stop.
     

4. We take seriously our duty to protect ordinary people from the consequences of these policy fiascos. The sad fact is that the victims of these mindless policies are the people that elected us. It is their welfare that is being threatened. Many of our people have been left in a situation where the money they put in banks has literally been confiscated, depriving them of the ability to buy food and basic necessities. Our traders cannot sell as much as they used to because their customers have no access to their hard-earned money.

5. We have been officially informed that the currency redesign policy is to reduce money laundering and render useless stashes of high denomination Naira that many politicians and public officers have accumulated through corruption and other illicit activities. As earlier stated, we are fully in support of such a policy and we made this public from the beginning.

6. We had privately expressed concerns about the timing of the currency design policy and the unrealistic timeline for its implementation. We were assured that all steps have been taken to ensure that we avoid the recent experience of India, where implementation of a similar demonetisation policy targeted at politicians ended up hurting the poorest and small businesses the most.

7. In official briefings to the President, the Central Bank of Nigeria constantly alluded to the fact that the policy also targets politicians who have accumulated a huge war chest for vote buying during the elections. It is now clear that the President has been deceived by the Central Bank of Nigeria and some elements in his government into buying into this overarching narrative, in the name of ensuring free and fair elections in 2023

8. It is important for the people of Kaduna State, and indeed Nigeria, to know that contrary to the public pronouncements and apparent good intentions, this policy was conceived and sold to the President by officials who completely lost out in the Gubernatorial and Presidential Primaries of the APC in June 2022.

9. Once Asiwaju Bola Tinubu emerged as the candidate in June 2022, and subsequently did not pick one of them as his running mate, this currency redesign policy was conceived to ensure that the APC presidential candidate is deprived of what they alleged is a humongous war chest. They also sought to achieve any one or more of following objectives:

a. Create a nationwide shortage of cash so that citizens are incited to vote against APC candidates across the board resulting in massive losses for the Party in all the elections;

b. Ensure that the cash crunch is so serious, along with the contrived and enduring fuel shortage existing since September 2022, that the 2023 Elections do not hold at all, leading to an Interim National Government to be led by a retired Army General;

c. Sustain the climate of shortage of fuel, food and other necessities, leading to mass protests, violence and breakdown of law and order that would provide a fertile foundation for a military take-over;

10. In the pursuit of these objectives, the Central Bank of Nigeria and these other disgruntled Federal officials have so far convinced the President that it is fine for ordinary citizens to be dispossessed of their hard-earned money, and starved if need be, while small and medium-sized businesses are deprived of access to their capital, thereby bringing trade and exchange to a grinding halt. All our efforts to modify implementation of the policy to avoid what we assumed were unintended consequences were unsuccessful. I chose to speak out first as one person that has been particularly close to the President, believing that his actions were motivated by innocence, and mindful of his legacy. I have no regrets for doing my duty in this regard. One day, the President will appreciate what some of us are being insulted for today.

11. Yet, the politicians that the officials have convinced the President to regard as the real targets of the currency redesign policy have not been impeded in any way by it so far. Indeed, two of the presidential candidates, and a running mate of the opposition parties own or have preferred access to some of the licensed banks. For that reason and by various clandestine arrangements, these politicians have access to hundreds of millions of these new notes, while the traders, merchants, students and other citizens are queuing for days to withdraw a few thousand Naira just to buy food and necessaries.

12. Within two to three weeks of implementation, it was clear to everyone that the architects of this policy can see that it is our people that are being terribly affected, and not the politicians. It is quite unfortunate that many politicians who either own banks or have privileged access to money are so insulated from the pains of talakawa that they are recklessly endorsing a policy that is being badly implemented.

13. I am referring here to the comments by the candidate of one of the opposition parties who expressed opposition to the recommendation first of the APC state governors, and subsequently of all the governors under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors Forum that the implementation timeline be extended, to enable the old and new notes to be legal tender side by side until the cash shortage ends.

14. My dear people of Kaduna State. Let me explain how the architects of this policy intentionally designed it to fail. The total currency in circulation in Nigeria was estimated at N3.2 trillion at the end of 2022. According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, N2.1 trillion has been withdrawn as at early February. The CBN claimed that N700bn is the amount of cash needed for their functioning vision of a “cash-less” Nigerian economy. The Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Dr. Doyin Salami disagrees with this estimate, and believes at least N2 trillion of currency needs to be in circulation for our economic sustainability. Other experts variously estimate this to be between N1.2 trillion and above, so the CBN number of N700bn is not realistic.

15. The CBN informed the President at the very beginning that the Mint (NSPMC) has enough capacity to print the needed currency in circulation within the 6-week timeframe for the so-called ‘cash swap’. By its own admission, only N400bn worth of new notes had been printed for CBN as at early February. The current cash shortage was therefore designed from the beginning, the President was lied to about the domestic capacity of the Mint to print, and even if the announced N700bn was printed, it would have been grossly inadequate anyway. Imagine then printing only N400bn, and making most of it unavailable to the banks but passed to favoured entities through special arrangements. How can the CBN collect N2.1 trillion from citizens and print only N400bn? Is this not a clear case of economic sabotage?

16. It is bad economics to so curtail economic activity and the velocity of circulation of money. It is also insensitive to deliberately cause cash shortage and then seek to instigate the public against the mostly innocent commercial banks. Even the most honest and prudent action by banks cannot magically make N400bn to look like N2.1 trillion, or have the same spread and availability like the CBN should have ensured. As a regulator, the CBN should not be seen to be setting up the banking sector as the public enemy to cover up the glaring failure in its design and implementation of the cash swap policy.

17. We have repeatedly appealed to the Federal Government to allow whatever remains of the old notes to circulate concurrently with the new notes. We recommended that the Federal Government should also hasten to ensure that more of the new notes are printed and brought into circulation. We thought that if the Nigerian Mint is incapable of printing the volume of cash needed as it appears, then necessary steps must urgently be taken to get a reliable supply source.

18. There is no reason why the old notes and the new notes should not coexist until the old notes are gradually withdrawn over the years as is done in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and other countries. It is unfortunate that in implementing this policy, Nigeria is departing from global best practice, without any compelling justification. The Kaduna State Government did all these, not in opposition to any person or authority, but because we stand with our people and their interests.

19. When it was clear that our recommendations will not be seriously considered, the Kaduna State Government decided, along with the governments of Kogi and Zamfara states to declare a dispute with the Federal Government. In line with the provisions of the Constitution, we approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria to invoke its original jurisdiction to hear us and the cries of our people. The Court did on February 8th, and ordered that the deadline of February 10th for all the ‘old’ notes ceasing to be legal tender be rescinded until the determination of the suit. This ruling applies to the Federal Government and its agencies like the CBN, and all commercial banks! We are grateful to the Court for this ruling, and we had hoped that compliance by the CBN and the banks would bring relief to our people. It is now clear that the architects of this policy are determined to continue to inflict maximum pain on the citizens to achieve their objectives outlined earlier.

20. It was our hope that the Federal Government of Nigeria would welcome this injunction as an opportunity to mitigate the needless human suffering being experienced and correct its course on this matter. There is no emergency situation that justifies the rushed and seemingly deliberate incompetent execution of this policy. We suggested that compliance with the ruling would include adopting a whole-of-government approach, that involves the agencies of the federal and state governments in modifying the design, execution the implementation of the currency redesign policy.

21. Even when confronted with the facts above, the CBN and its masters remain determined to implement their agenda no matter how much human suffering, death and destruction results. It is clear that the architects of this policy always had objectives that are totally in conflict with public interest, peace and the unity of Nigeria. They neither considered our suggestions in line with the Court order, nor respected the unanimous resolution of the Council of State.

22. It is also quite revealing that the Federal Government and its agencies not only disobeyed the February 8 ruling by continuing to say the February 10th deadline stands. It is shocking to see the blatant violation of the subsisting and continuing order of the Supreme Court that ALL the old and new notes should continue to be legal tender until it gives judgment in the case filed by the Kaduna State Government along with several others.

23. The address by the President earlier this morning limiting the legal tender status of old notes to only N200 amounts to total disregard and disobedience of the ruling of February 8th which was extended further yesterday by the Supreme Court. The misguided action of the Attorney-General to mislead the President into engaging in this public violation of the order of the highest court of the land shows how desperate the policy architects are to cause national chaos, by showing open contempt for the judiciary.

24. The decision to recognise only N200 as legal tender till April that the President announced this morning was offered to the state governments as part of proposals for an out-of-court settlement three days ago. The Federal Government asserted that this was offered because all the ‘old’ N1,000 and N500 notes had been destroyed. We rejected the offer and proved to the officials that not a single higher denomination note had been destroyed. We also believe that circulating N200 only to be inadequate in alleviating the suffering that we see every day. We insisted that all the components of the Supreme Court order should be complied with.

25. But back home, what do we do in Kaduna State? My dear of people of Kaduna State, with the foregoing revelations, it is clear that our peaceful coexistence as a state, and a nation, is being placed under deliberate danger using the intentional combination of fuel and cash supply disruptions. These evil people using the instrumentality of the Federal Government and the President as convenient covers are willing to truncate our democracy because they have personally lost out. They are massively deploying resources and tools to defeat the political party that gave us the platform to serve the country just because they could not impose the candidates of their choice. Let us not help them.

26. Let us stay calm and peaceful, and support the lawful means being utilised to solve our problems. On behalf of the Kaduna State Government, I wish to assure you that none of you would lose the money you have in old notes. Let no artificial and illegal deadline frighten you. Whether you live in towns, villages or in our isolated rural communities, do not feel stampeded to deposit your old notes in the banks. Hold on to them. Continue to use them as legal tender as ordered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. No deadline can render them worthless, ever. The law is on your side. The Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 and the Bills of Exchange Act, both oblige the CBN to recognise your old notes and give you value in new notes whenever you bring them to the CBN, even in the next 100 years.

27. Therefore, as your governor, I wish to assure you that the Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with elected legislators, traditional institution, elected local government councils, markets, and traders associations will help you collect, record, document, collate and deliver all your old notes to the Kaduna branch of the Central Bank on your behalf into the new ones immediately after the elections. We will also ensure the delivery of your new notes to your various locations without any hardship or expense on your part. We shall save you any panic and the stress of a long journey from your community to the CBN office in our state capital, from March until December 2023 if need be.

28. For the avoidance of doubt, all the old and new notes shall remain in use as legal tender in Kaduna State until the Supreme Court of Nigeria decides otherwise. I therefore appeal to all residents of Kaduna State to continue to use the old and new notes side by side without any fear. The Kaduna State Government and its agencies shall seal any facility that refuses to accept the old notes as legal tender and prosecute the owners. If need be, we shall take further consequential actions according to the law.

29. While urging you all not to fall for these antics of the enemies of Nigeria, please be patient and continue to exercise resilience in the face of open provocation and deliberate disinformation. We encourage you to be ready with your PVC to vote in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections. We are doing all we can to ensure that it is peaceful, orderly and hitch-free. I appeal to you to understand the shenanigans of these unpatriotic elements in Abuja and ensure you vote massively for the intended victims of these last-minute policies of needless hardship and incitement of the citizens – our party, the APC and its candidates in all the elections.

30. The Kaduna State Government is making this appeal, and taking all these measures to shield our people from the terrible consequences of the currency redesign policy. We seek to protect our people’s hard-earned money, their ability to engage in trade and exchange and buy what they need. We also seek to protect their civic rights, liberties and freedoms under a democratic dispensation. I call on the people of Kaduna State to remain peaceful and vigilant in the face of brazen attempts to engineer crisis in order to get a pretext for unconstitutional or undemocratic actions.

31. In conclusion, our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has asked me to convey his greetings, empathy and words of encouragement to the good people of Kaduna State. AN unidentified young man was apprehended by local security men in Imo State for allegedly snatching a male organ of a young man.

The victim narrated his story that he was just walking along the street and the man surfaced from nowhere and hit his p*nis, and immediately he felt a sensation and he could no long see his manhood again.  He said he shouted, that was when people got hold of him, beat him and he did some rituals before his p*nis returned.

The suspect was taken to the Police Station for further investigations.

An eyewitness wrote,
"If you are coming to Owerri now, please guide and protect your penis JEALOUSLY before you start looking for it.

They said that a young man's penis from 1 to 19 years now costs #100,000.00. 20 to 45 years #75,000 to #80,000, above 45 to 75 years #40,000.00 to #50,000.00 as above 75 years worths nothing in the PENIS Industrial market.

So those above 75 are seen as carrying dis-functional penis. Since Saturday about three arrests have been made of Penis vendors of which one says that they are working for the politicians."

THE Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has maintained a lead in a third and final nationwide Opinion Poll commissioned by Anap Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls Limited (NOIPolls).

The result of the fresh poll was released on Wednesday by the President and Founder of Anap Foundation, Atedo Peterside.

The third poll which was concluded in the first half of February 2023 followed two earlier polls carried in September and December 2022.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it is pertinent to mention that the methodology used by NOI polls is almost the exact same methodology that was used in previous presidential polls that they handled for us in 2011, 2015 and 2019,” Anap said in a statement.

“In all those past presidential polls, the front-runner that was identified by our polls ended up winning the elections, irrespective of a rather large percentage of voters who were undecided and/or refused to indicate who their preferred candidate was.

“We have also applied the exact same methodology in our various governorship polls carried out in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2022 and the methodology generally held up well.”

Anap said its third and final poll result in February 2023 showed that Obi of the Labour Party remains in the lead, with Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) both trailing him while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) emerged as the “lone outsider”.

“Obi leads with 21% of registered voters proposing to vote for him if the presidential election were to be conducted today; and 13% proposing to vote for Tinubu who fell in second place. Atiku was third with 10% and Kwankwaso was a distant fourth with 3% of voters proposing to vote for him.

“Given the large pool of undecided voters and/or those who refused to disclose their preferred choice, Mr. Peter Obi’s 8%-point lead at this stage is significant, but not sufficient to separate him from a leading pack of candidates scoring 13%, 10% and 3%.

“Undecided voters and those who prefer not to reveal their preferred candidate add up to a whopping 23% and 30% respectively. The gender split of undecided voters shows that 27% of women are undecided versus 18% of male registered voters,” Anap said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to release old N200 notes into circulation to co-exist with the new N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes for 60 days.

The President, who made this known in a nationwide broadcast on Thursday, directed the CBN to allow the new notes available to all citizens.

The President apologised to Nigerians over the difficulty experienced in the implementation of the naira redesign policy.

“To further ease the supply pressure, particularly on our citizens, I have given approval to the CBN that the old N200 bank notes be released back into circulation and it should also be allowed to circulate as legal tender with the new N200, N500 and N1,000 bank notes for 60 days from February 10, 2023 to April 10, 2023 when the old N200 note ceases to be legal tender,” he said.

AS the battle for the soul of Nigeria continued over the crisis Cashless Policy has generated in the past weeks, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai disclosed that the Federal Government has proposed to allow only the old N200 notes to remain legal tender till April 10 2023, DAILY POST reported on Wednesday.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by Muyiwa Adekeye, Special Adviser on Media & Communication to governor El-Rufai.

The Governor debunked claims making the rounds that the All Progressives Congress Governors met with the Federal Government on Wednesday.

However, he said that some Senior officials of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government reached some governors, including himself, on the phone to seek an end to the currency redesign crisis.

He said the Federal Government claimed it had destroyed the N500 and N1000 notes already deposited.

He added that the proposal made by the federal government is an inadequate solution to Nigerians’ sufferings.
           
“Rather, Senior officials of the FG reached some governors, including Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on the phone to initiate discussions on a possible out-of-court settlement. The proposed terms allowed only the old N200 note to remain legal tender and circulated by the CBN until April 10 2023. They claimed that the CBN had already destroyed the old N500 and N1000 notes that had been deposited but that those who still held the old notes could redeem them up to April 10 2023.

“These were not considered as serious proposals, for obvious reasons. Circulating the old N200 notes alone would not be sufficient to relieve widespread human suffering in Kaduna State and, indeed, in Nigeria today.

They knew that which is why they falsely claimed that the CBN had already destroyed the old N500 and N1000 notes. It is contrary to the fact available to the governors that the old notes were in the custody of commercial bank branches throughout Nigeria until the evening of Monday, February 13, and not a single N500 or N1000 had been destroyed”, the statement contained.
